Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! I had a great time with the Wednesday, Women and Wine get together last night, but got home late and am seriously dragging butt this ayem! Thank goodness I get to sleep in tomorrow. I have got to cut back on the 4 day working weeks. So a quick poop in this ayem, got to get on the road for work for one more day.

Cammy--woops, looks like I got mixed up on who talked about what again! Oh well. I love Olive Garden food, except for the salad dressing. Did you know you can buy the dressing by the bottle from OG?

Muddling--here's to praying your Ibrance doesn't get held up. No medical care in your county? Talk about inconvenient! Glad it's only once a month now.

Chi--The gelatos sound so yummy, I so wish there was more of that kind of thing around here!

Jazzy--enjoy the nice space while you have it! Hopefully you'll be able to keep it for a good long time. My new job hasn't started yet. I'm teaching for Kaplan next week, hoping to begin some training time the week after, but it depends on the patient census.Has to hit a magic number before my job code can be changed.

Chi--Always something when you own a home, isn't there? Glad you can save some of the maters from the squirrels!

Things have been very busy for me, but it always is. I work at our county Planning and Zoning Dept. Things are always seem to be changing. It always depends on the Board of County Commissioners and which way they are leaning and this is an election year so they all want to make everyone happy. My husband is retired (Funeral Director) but his former boss keeps his license updated and calls him in to cover vacations or if one of the families ask for him. Mostly he takes care of the home and babysits the grandchildren once in awhile. I don't ever complain what he does, but he doesn't clean well. He picks up clutter and does surface cleaning and that's more than my Dad ever done so its ok. I bought paint for our bedroom and told him that we need to free up time to paint, he just says 'who is this we you keep talking about" - If I start painting I am sure he will jump in, mainly because he is one of those people that wants stuff done his way. I'm good with that if he will help paint. I am reading what I wrote and decided I need to have more fun. I am going to think of something fun to do this weekend.

Chi- You sure are busy fixing your house and yourself. Hopefully you both will be done soon.

Cami- I hope your daughter is doing better. She seems to have gone through a lot.

Illimae- I hope you do get your mini vacation and I hope your knee won't bother you in the 5K. You can tell I am not a runner- I had to look up and see how far a 5k was. lol

Jazzy- Enjoy the great office space while you got it. I had a great space and a different department took over that area and mine got moved to a not so great space. I guess as they say it is what it is and we all make the best of all situations.

NM- I am so glad that you got your new position. I hope that everything will run much smoother for you now, your job is so important to so many people, you would think that management would be a little bit easier to work with. Women, Wednesday and Wind sounds fun. I should look into starting something like that with some of my friends.

Muddling- Stay safe in all these storms.

    Leafy Tokes signing off.

Tonight was the Mexican wine dinner at Mas Alla del Sol. The food was phenomenal, and the wines were wonderful--but WAY too expensive (e.g. a $41 bottle of rosé was the cheapest). That probably is due to growing grapes & making wines in a region (Baja) not known for it--and therefore too high an overhead, little-to-no competition, and no economy of scale. Nonetheless, here they were:

2106 Lechuza Chardonnay (un-oaked); 2017 Relieve Rosé of Pinot Noir & Malbec; 2016 Cavas Valmar Tempranillo (the grape from which RIoja is made); and 2012 Legado Sais Don Renato (65% Cabernet Sauvignon/35% Tempranillo). There was also a Cab/Shiraz/Tempranillo blend they poured after dessert, but it--while lovely & balanced, with soft tannins--was not worth $60/bottle.

    Mornin Ladies,

Jeez I thought I was here, well I was just didn't post...These stupid phones cause me all kinds of mix ups. LOL

I think NM is off today, maybe. I hope so, so u have have some down time.

Hey Misty, I didn't know u worked for the County, I know how it is with pleasing people for votes and such since I worked for the State here. It was always a roller coaster of what u did or do. Oh ur DH sounds great tho, pretty much like a man in so many ways.

Sandy u always make me want a glass of wine at nite, but I'm afraid of meds mixing. And I always forget to ask my Dr. for some reason. My Dr. talks so much and asks me so many questions, I usually make notes but forget to put this down.

I don't believe this I;ve been on here for over an hour. Do people make the last call at nite and the first call in the morning to this company???

OK I have to close for now.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! Had a lovely sleep in with Sadie, and have caught up on all the e-mail stuff and a few other small on line errands. Getting ready to start reviewing the teaching stuff for next week and getting that all organized and ready to go. Going to be beautiful today and this weekend. Going for a picnic with some friends tomorrow, not sure where we'll end up but it will be fun no matter what. Sadie would like to announce that she does NOT eat bananas.I gave her a piece of one the other day, found it under some papers today, looking very furry. She could have just said "no thank you!"

Misty--people do seem to have different ways of cleaning, don't they? I hope you do think of something fun for this weekend. I'm looking forward to the new position starting, too. Hopefully, in a few weeks. Also trying to stay patient while I wait, but that's awfully hard sometimes.

Chi--I hope the rose tasted good, it sounds yummy!

Cammy--I am off work today, getting a much later start on the day than for a work day. Maybe you need to write down a couple of questions--including if it's ok to have a glass of wine now and again--and take the list with you when you see your doc?

Hi girls, Sticky Buds here ~ hehehehe! I love my new name. It is very fitting for this Willie lover!

I just read through a weeks worth of posts as I am checking in from work. Not much to report here, just wanted to say hello and thanks for all your kind words and comments on my job. I really do like the job albeit it is so easy. The people are very nice. I am here now and was just thinking of my girls.

I hope everyone stays safe with this hurricane lurking out there. If my parents were still here and in Myrtle Beach, I would be worried sick as they were often too stubborn to evacuate.

Cheers ma ladies and lots of love~

now schmoka some willie with me now! yes, I have a card so I am allowed.

    Mornin Ladies,

DARA u dropped in, I luv it. And I think, I think, u might not have waited for the card but I don't REALLY KNOW. I know how u follow all those things. I am so very happy u like ur job and all the people there. It's good to go to work and not feel miserable It's like Kim now, what a difference.

Kim uve got some plans for the weekend which we will all enjoy hearing about. And u still organized things yesterday so that's done. And I know u had some good times with Sadie so she's happy, sending u into a good weekend. And I do see my Dr. soon and I will write down about the wine cuz inquiring minds want to know.

Oh I need some meds and over the counter things and as usual I was broke and I was talking to my cousin, so she makes a cal and Dan was over last nite so I got paid again and we can get some things we need for the week. What a family I have, I'm so blessed.

Jodie's coming today for my shower Leslie still cant help me and anyone else who could or would help me are male chit I hate this. Well I can at least wash my hair and wash myself I just need help getting in and out of the tub and of course I have a chair in their, so compared to last yr. I've come a long way. This is the best I'll ever do, but I'm fine with that cuz when Les gets better she can help me. And I can walk around without a walker just a cane if I really need it that day so again a long way this yr. Well always a can when I leave the house, but if I'm going to like Walgreens no one has to come in with me anymore, that's a biggie for me. The funny part when I do these things I hear "Oh mom u'v done so well" like I'm a kid but I like hearing that. Oh and this is stupid but when Dan was here last nite he saw my legs and at first the look on his face was almost scary then he said I never saw ur legs look like legs hahaha, He was amazed, cuz now I have sometimes where the swelling is so minimum they look like they're kinda normal. See what excites me nowadays. LOL OK enough about me bragging, but I couldn't help it.

I hope everyone's planning on some fun this weekend, I'm going to look at my legs.

Good Morning, Loungettes!I'm a little bummed this ayem, realized that the picnic with friends is NEXT Saturday, not today. Oh, well, such is life, right? Going to finish tidying up the class notes for next week and a few bits of housework. Some things just never end, like housework. Sadie is having a grand time"helping" me wash the floors this ayem, she thinks the mop is a tug toy and does not understand why I get noisy when she walks on the newly washed, wet, floors! One part of the living room floor I have washed 4 times now, and am going to give up an live with the puppypaw prints for now!

Dara--Sticky Buds? What a great sounding name! Glad the job is going well, is easy and the people friendly. Nice to have good working conditions!

Cammy--did you notice that I messed up the dates? I get so upset with myself when I do things like that. Oh well, at least I only made a fool of myself with you ladies this time, and you will just laugh and give me another drink and tease me a little. Wow, you really have come a long way in the last year! And you have good reason to brag on that! I can relate to you not wanting to have a male help you with showering. I know it can be done modestly, but it's a bit of a pain. Much easier with another woman. Having a chair in the shower is a great idea that I wish more people would adopt as they age. Start using a chair when it starts getting harder to get up and down stairs and many falls and injuries would be prevented. Funny about Dan looking at your legs!Is he a leg man? That you have minimal swelling sometimes is FANTASTIC!

Good morning ladies- I made it through my first FULL week on the contract and came home to CRASH last night. Been working fast and furiously for them on these new projects (both underway so catching up on things). The work is interesting to me and the people are awesome. This will allow me to add some new experience to the non acute side of the industry (where our friend NM works) as well as with device management. Working with an all male tech team and the guys are great, love what I bring to their projects and been able to get a lot done quickly. The last of the contract stuff is in place (including my accounting part). I will invoice this week for the time I spent on site last week and this, and they pay weekly (yay). I have two projects going and a third coming. This fall will be very busy. I won't have any time off until Xmas, but did make my reservation to go to the hot springs again as I often do for the holidays. I came home last night and crashed and fell asleep by 7:30 p.m. A good tired though.....

I love September in New Mexico but it is too warm here again. Back in the low 90s and some of my mums I got end of Sept have fried, others are doing okay. The state fair is wrapping up this weekend and gave myself permission I could skip it this year, but think I will try to go for a few hours tomorrow morning. Sunday mornings are good with the church crowd being busy until noon and not as busy. I don't do the junky fair food, but they have a wonderful pie place that is sponsored by a church and everything goes to the community needs and always stop there for a hot dog and a piece of pie. The fine arts, indian village and NM food store are my favorites!

Dara- good to hear from you, I was thinking about you last weekend when I was at the LandRover/Jag dealer (think you saw the pics on FB), and that I could see you selling a high priced car like that. Those new vehicles are $100K and just think of the commission! Anyways, what you are doing well help you to learn the biz and have done that before when changing careers/industries. Something for now and once they see your smarts, you will be moving up fast! You go girl!

Chi- I love going to those wine dinners & events as you get to taste a lot of great (but sometimes expensive) wines. I don't mind buying an expensive bottle from time to time for a special event, but like you, will go for the average priced wines. Some of the roses I tasted this summer at my last wine dinner were in the $40-50 range. We have a women in tech group here in town that does these great wine tastings each quarter, and there was one last weekend but just could not commit to that one. Hope to catch the last one they do usually around December. We love our wine!

Believe it or not, I have not had a drink since my reunion weekend three weeks ago too. After way too much partying, I gave my liver a break. I plan to imbibe with a glass tonight on the patio.

NM- I have a friend who refers to things that get cancelled, postponed or perhaps we find we did not calendar them right as "found time." So I expect you and Miss Sadie may have some found time this weekend to do something outdoors. Maybe the kayak or maybe a nice walk to a place Sadie can swim? Make it fun sister, no de-cluttering for you! I love how Sadie had to rebrand the floor with her paws every time you mop. LOL!

Cami- your family has so much to deal with and am glad that Jodie is coming to help you with bathing. Gives you some nice time together and a chance to chat without the guy around. Although I understood he was better with things when you stayed there. Sometime people just have to get over themselves and perhaps with everything that has gone on, he just gets it. People don't always right away, or sometimes ever. Glad your legs are not swollen, I be they are sexy too. Hope Joey is doing well in the new school year but probably hard for him with things going on with his mom. Glad he has you friend.

Mistyeyes- sounds like work is busy and your DH helps some. Men are not natural cleaners or care givers in my opinion, but yes, they can be trained. And yes, I try to do one fun thing on the weekends to be sure I am enjoying life. Tell us later what you did this weekend?

Goldie is off in one of my favorite places (Moab) with her camping.

Where are our other girls? Calling all winos......

Will share some pics from the fair tomorrow. Be safe those being impacted by the churning Florence who I hear is also headed inland now and then up the east coast.

I will pay $40 or more for a top-quality Pinot Noir, Cab. Sauv., late-harvest dessert wine, vintage Port or oaked Chardonnay. But for a rosé? My limit is $20, and even that had better be a very, very special one indeed. (Maybe a Sancerre for $25-30, but that's not a rosé). Whole Foods has a wide selection in the $10-15 range, and the ones offered at the Cellars dinners & wine tastings usually run $10-20. Rosés don't age well and are best drunk very cold and within a week of opening. (Not gonna waste argon gas on one).

Gig went well last night, though a very sparse audience. Too many competing events (including RiotFest, a prestigious lecture series downstairs in the main sanctuary, and many of our colleagues' gigs in places offering alcohol), not to mention that on such a lovely late summer night few people wanted to be cooped up indoors. But I was able to play everything on the set list--the barre chords lasted less than a quarter-note and that weird movable Gadd9 up the neck was no problem if I held the neck up high a la Johnny Cash. That Gsus4 high up on the dulcimer fretboard on "Pack Up Your Sorrows" hurt like a mother....er, but I knew it was coming and kept a straight face--it came up only in the intro and solo anyway.

The bigger problem is that my R hand nails need to grow a tad more so I could fingerpick louder without amplification--which has nothing to do with my L hand injury. I could have used fingerpicks, but I detest them--with them I can't feel the strings well enough for control, and you need to be incredibly accurate as to which strings to pick (which is a problem for someone like me who needs to be able to see my hands for intricate stuff--sort of impossible to do that and be accurately on-mic, much less look at the audience). That's why I began getting nail enhancements to begin with. Will ask my nail tech to put slight tips on my index, middle & thumb, or an extra layer of gel on them if they've grown long enough, before the next gig. Acrylics work well, but are murder on nail beds, and sound like sleet on the pickguard when amplified or recording--in the studio I have to pad the pick-guard with duct tape over cotton.

(I know that for you non-string players out there, the foregoing sounds like I was speaking Martian, but thanks for letting me vent).

Got home late, so with leftover chicken & pasta I poured about an ounce of Pigmentum Malbec Rosé. Took only a few sips, though. At the next wine dinner, I will have to ask for short pours and not finish them (regardless of the costly dinner tab), much less say "yes, please" when they come around to top up. I'm fine at tastings, since it's perfectly OK to sip and then pour out.

Just made myself a real caffe latte: wrist & R elbow well enough for me to work the knobs & lock the portafilter on my real espresso machine (had been using the Nespresso capsule machine & electric whirly-frother). Bought a bag of fresh beans, and ground them just for the cup. Mmmmmm......Starbucks, shmarbucks.

I was just starting to talk to Sandy, so I didn't say anything yet. Jeez am I boring. But I was going to say is I enjoy reading how u 'splain everything Sandy, I really think ---I didn't know that--- and its fun for me. Wow u got thru everything last nite sounding good I'm sure.

BTW I know Kim teaches as she should, But did Jazzy or Sandy ever teach other subjects. U both would be mesmerizing teachers just a thought.I know we can use my dad's barn and practice----oops I think that's a movie, not my life.

oh oh I watch Bar rescue and some of these drinks sound sooooooooo good, but I never even write them down and I have a pad and paper right here.

And Jazzy I agree with u Dara could sell a tampon to a man, she's good.

On the homefront.Joey has strep throat. Of course bring it into the house, my first clue is Marty spraying Lysol and wiping all doorknobs with Lysol Oy vey.Oh and taking out the box of gloves. Now he cracks me up too.Now we can only talk to Joey standing by his door and since I can't stand very long, very short talks. LOL

Good Morning, Loungettes! Here I am, up before the sun. Just starting to get pink in the east. I really do not like getting up in the dark. How some ever, not much I can do about that living in Maine. I'm jealous of Sadie who gets to go back to sleep after getting me out of bed when the alarm goes off. But today is a teaching day, so should be fun.

I"M HOME! Had a great time, altho very hot, in the mid 90's. Have some pics and videos I will post on FB.

Not going to comment on everything, so forgive.

Muddling, my onc is 4 hours ONE WAY! So an 8 hour round trip drive for me, every 6 weeks.

Jazzy, Moab is most certainly one of the most beautiful spots in the US. We were surprised at all the new stuff there, this trip. Hotels, condo's, etc. We have some friends there, locals, that absolutely hate how it's turned into such a tourist spot. Hot here too, but glad the nights are at least cool. I have several Moab picture folders on my FB page.

Sandy, my maters are slowing down too. I guess I should be happy, but that means ole man winter is on his way. Time for me to start some lettuce and such for the winter garden.

NM, lol on Miss Sadie and the banana!

Cami, lol at looking at those legs. The little things that excite us! I bet if you ask your doctor, you might be able to get some assistance with your shower, at no cost to you. Or, even have Joey help you. You can have something on you, that would be easy to take off once you get in your shower seat, since you can wash yourself. Just a thought. I hope Joey gets over that strep quickly and no one else gets it. I also hope he is staying home from school.

Hey Becky, always nice to have a new loungette to imbibe with! What can we get one of the Tenders to get you?

Wacko, good to see you my friend, but I do miss you. Too funny about Cami saying you could sell a tampon to a man.

I had my 6 month check up with my medical onc....yes after 12+ years he still sees me every 6 months! Today he mentioned Zometa - every 6 months, IV infusion for 2 years.....said its good for my osteoporosis and would increase by risk of recurrence by 1-2%. When I was on AI's I took Actonel. I quit Actonel when I quit AIs. A couple years ago, my PCP said she would rather me wait till I'm in my 70s to take biophosphonates....I'm glad she had so much confidence in me. Well she retired and I have a new PCP. I need to talk to her. Onc explained all side effects. I would have to have any dental work done before I go on Zometa. Really not sure what I want to do. I've had side effects on almost every Rx I've taken since Dx. Any thoughts out there? Who has done the Zometa infusions? I'm not thrilled about being in the infusion center again! Visit - all looked good. Now just need confirmation from labs.

A bc friend from way back when was just put in hospice....it makes me so damn sad.....

    Sweet dreams...

I had a Zometa infusion. No thanks. Got stuck like a pincushion till they found a vein, hurt like hell going in (for 1/2 hr), spiked a 103F fever and then had days of bone aches and peripheral (foot & shoulder) neuropathy. All because Medicare PartB & D wouldn't cover Prolia...but then Medicare changed its mind and now covers it for all post-meno female ER+ bc patients with at least osteopenia who are on an AI. I did get dentally-vetted first. Prolia is an injection (albeit a big honkin' auto-injector one), but over in 10 seconds with much milder side effects than Zometa.

Bone drugs for osteopenia (or osteoporosis) are becoming more and more controversial. My PCP didn't want me doing anything but weightbearing, hi-impact exercise (I was osteopenic even before starting letrozole). But now that I'm on an AI (and can't do ballistic exercise lest I knock loose my artificial knee implants), he said to go for Prolia but add calcium, magnesium and extra D3 & K2. The goal now is to prevent not just osteoporosis but also bone mets--or slow their progression if they've been discovered.

P.S. After my 2-yr followup DEXAScan, a Zometa I.V. and 2 Prolia shots--plus the Ca citrate, Mg, K2, & D3--my osteopenia has improved from moderate-to-severe to mild-to-moderate (with one femoral neck now measuring "normal"). My hand surgeon is not classifying my hairline scaphoid & radial head/distal fxs as "fragility" fractures: if they were, they would not have been so "subtle" on X-rays. (For those new to these boards, I fell twice this spring--shoe malfunctions--and required orthopedic surgery).

Had two root canals last month, and will be getting acrylic fillings next week to replace the temporaries. I have my next Prolia shot this coming Thurs. All my dentists (regular DDS, perio and endodontist) say to go ahead with the shot.

Karen- your doctors keeps good tabs on you, nothing wrong with that. I have gone from 6 months to 1 year follow ups just in the past year with both my imaging and MO.

I have not taken Zometa, but my MO put me on Prolia which I have done well on. Been on it for 3.5 years and it has some solid benefits for cancer patients. I started a thread on Prolia shots a few years ago here, but here some info on benefits of this for both bone health and reducing risk for ER positive cancer re-occurrence.

    https://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/prolia-...

Prolia is a twice a year shot and I get mine in the infusion center at the MO's office, but am in and out of there, no sitting in a chair for hours. SEs are minimal, but the dental work issue is a concern for this drug too. I came off the AIs in Feb so my PCP and I discussed today at my physical to get another bone density test in December to see if I need it anymore. I think Prolia is worth asking about.

Maybe see too if there is a Zometa thread out here too?

Bob came home and opened a 2015 Bouchaine oaked chardonnay. Since I made Chilean sea bass, orange (infused olive oil & sea salt) brown basmati rice and sauteed sesame sugar snap peas, I poured some for me too. Perfect!

(Also bought a previously-frozen cold-water "slipper" lobster tail on sale for $6. Should've made it tonight instead of the sea bass, since it would not be a good idea for my last meal before the Yom Kippur fast to be shellfish...maybe for lunch? It'll keep till Wed. night, I think).

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! First day of class went well, at least until I was ready to head home. Found a flat tire. Oh well, I got home a bit later than expected but the prep time for today's class wasn't a long as I expected, so all is good. Except with Sadie, who is miffed at my being late. And woke me up to tell me about it twice last night. Gotta shake my head at her, she knows how to get through to me. Now if only I could get through to her that waiting for AAA to change the tire, then waiting for the tire to get plugged and replaced takes time when you do it all without appointments!

Goldie--Welcome Home! Saw some of the pics on FB--incredible!

Cammy--I'll look for that article, I bet it's great!

{{{Karen}}}so sorry to hear about your friend. Don't blame you for not wanting to go back to the infusion center.

    Chi--whan an experience with Zometa!

Bcbc--The Tenders are the Lounge bar tenders who take care of us by keeping our favorite libations in stock and bringing them to us regularly. Their names are Jock, Pants and Hunk.

Jazzy--Sounds like Prolia is a better option than Zometa when there is a choice.

Chi--a "slipper" lobster tail? What is this?

    Hashy Smokes DOTD:

    Flat Tire

    Ingredients

Shake tequila and sambuca over ice. Strain into shot glass.

Best served in a Shot Glass.

Hi Karen, sorry to hear about your friend. I have not done zometa, so I can't comment on that. I do get an Xgeva injection every 30 days, which I think is the same as Prolia. I don't blame you for seeing the doc every 6 months, I did too after my 5 year mark. Good thing I did, as in year 6 was my stage IV diagnosis. But anyways, good to see you.

Bcbc, the name of our lounge is The Hot Tatties Lounge and instead of bar tenders we have our Tattie Tenders. Names we have for them are Jocks, Hunk, and another for which I am drawing a blank. And the female ones are Skate and Sugar, I think. Ok NM (NativeMainer) chimed in with the names. Pants is the one I forgot.

NM, if you can't find the article that Cami's DD wrote, here is the link. I gathered it was ok to share since it's in a magazine. And what is the Wednesday, March 26, 2014 6:52 AM, at the top of your post? Yes, Moab is incredible.

Here is the link for Cami's daughter's story.

I have to page back to see what my Willie name is. For those that are not on FB with me, I posted some of our pics on the Xgeva thread. You can check my profile for that thread.

Mornin Ladies. Karen I cant comment on the infusions, but it seems like u did get some good feedback on it. I am so so sorry about ur friend. For sure none of us like to hear that, <<<prayers>>> being sent.

Yay Lori is back. Lori those pics were beautiful, what a pleasure just looking at the scenery and enjoying what u see. Oh I and know how far u go for ur app't, all seems crazy to me.Thanks Lori for putting the article up.

Kim I told u Sadie has human tendencies and she sure doesn't hold back on u. Ugh to having a flat tire, that just plain sucks.

Sandy I never heard of that kind of lobster either, so tell us. I have to ask u something might be super silly to you but in our grocery store <as in most> there is a section for Jewish food, especially when anything comes up and in it it has frozen soup <chit it starts with a T> and the price is ok do u know if it's any good or is just homemade the super best, I know it looks good and all I would buy is for one so it's perfect.I really like the thin big crackers, Ive had them even in restaurants, super good. OK of course with butter.

Jazzy ur to busy to come in here so get to work LOL

Ah yes our lounge, BcBc it's been a long time since we have virtually seen it. It's just a fun thing to have. But we don't even talk about it much anymore and we were always fighting for our bar stool, well except for me, I just started on the floor and stayed there---no falls for me.

I've been working while writing this, 3 cups of coffee and I have to take a nap. This is recockulous.

OK I'll catch u later---OK thats not literal.

    LUBS U ALL
