E, The swim-up bar was one of the first things we added to our Hot Tatties Lounge! Not sure if you can search back (100 pgs????LOL) to the pics, or maybe Lori or someone else may have posted a link to what the bar and pool area look like, as well as the Tattie Tenders (Pants and Jocks). But ANYTHING can be added....I know we have a fire pit, but not sure if we had a pizza oven yet! The casino is nice too....all free of course.

Hoping Dee will get to post soon!

    Hey Drinkin' Buds~

Hope everyone is doing okay, in spite of the shitty last week or so.

HD - so sorry you are having to go through such an ordeal.  I do believe "what goes around comes around" and those MFs have it coming to them.

Junie - I too am sick of the rain and I have ceiling leaks too, Frown but haven't had any plaster fall and hit anyone.....yet...probably just a matter of time.

Lori - WELCOME HOME!!  You need some stiff cocktails my friend!  No drinking, no Internet, no TV - sounds like you did a stint on Survivor!   As far as the 5 years goes, I started counting from date of diagnosis, but not sure if that's correct.  Yes, I was on Arimidex (and Aromisan, and another one....can't remember the name of it.)  Never tolerated any of them well, so for the last 6 months or so I've been on Evista.

Think I'll hop over to the Casino and see if I can live up to my CasinoGirl name!

    Cheers,

    Donna

Hi Donna!!!! So glad you stopped in....best of luck in the casino...but of couse we are always lucky in "our" HTL casino! Just a quick comment (can you tell I am stuck at home today..LOL)..I read somewhere that they thought it was correct too, to count your bc time as from the day of diagnosis. So, as far as 5 yr survivor, etc., we have actually "survived" that long since we first found out about the cancer beast. So now I am counting mine from April 2 of last year.

Win big in the casino, casinogirl!!!

    Hey Kathy and Lori,

I'll join you for a beverage or two.  My hockey team (St. Louis Blues) is stinking it up this evening.  I'm drowning my sorrows in Pinot grigio.

Lori, thanks for the memories ( I would have said thanks for the mammories, but that would have been in poor taste).

It was 92 here again today.  I'm looking forward to the 80 for the next week.

    Party on, ladies.

Hi gals, My heart is breaking for Dee, and she asked if I would share this with you. Her granny has had 2 visits from hospice, and Dee is heading out to be with her right now. It doesn't look good, so would everyone please keep Dee's granny, as well as Dee and her family, in your thoughts and send comforting prayers their way. I know everyone will rally round Dee in this sad time, and be there for her. Dee, my eyes are just full of tears for you, and I wish there was something I could do to help.

    Sending prayers and hugs,

Good Morning Gals, Sure is quiet around the percotini and mimosa fountains today. I'm enjoying a Bloody Mary by the pool...seems like I have both Pants and Jocks at my beck and call....nice to be so pampered, but hope some of you will join me here!

Dee, Still thinking about you and hope you are doing okay. Come here when you feel like it, and get plastered....we'll look out for you, and you won't even have to drive yourself home. I think there is a nice bed in the back room for when we are too drunk to drive home. I know this has to be such a hard time for you....but we are here for you.

I'm going to copy HD here, cause I liked how she put it:

Cheers to no burglary fears, lots of beers, no tears, slimming mirrors, and 5 more years~!

    Hi all,

Thanks for the well wishes. I am getting ready to head back over to be with my grandmother, she is not taking any food and is on Morhine. Hospice and some nurses are coming and going throughout the day. She is getting ready to go be with my grandfather soon. I will miss her so terribly but will be glad to see her sufffering end. I will be back when I can. These times make me remember that we only get one go around in this life, so make it count. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

    Love to all,

GAWD! So sorry for all the bad news here lately! I haven't checked-in in a while due to being busy and then having my computer in the room we're all sleeping in.....

The remodel is coming along, now comes the clean-up of the drywall dust and such. All the draperies (okay, cheap curtains really) need to be dry cleaned and everything else needs to be Pledged or Windexed! The baseboards should be in by Mon or Tue then the inspection then I need to order carpeting and chose paint, and then paint! Painting party anyone?

Yes, pics will be posted soon, as soon as I have the time to sit and concentrate on them!

Am heading to Milan today, where it's cold and rainy. Warm in Chicago, mid-60's, and dry. Oh well, I DID enjoy my 13 days off despite Avery being a precocious 3-year old!

    Cheers!

I'm home from chicago, enjoying the 80 degree weather in vegas. I'm pooped. I went to a Speaker bureau's training at the Susan G Komen office today. It was really cool hearing everyone's stories. A couple of gals made me cry. This journey through breast cancer can be so emotional at times!

Dee - sorry to hear about your granny. I'll keep her and your family in my thoughts.

Have a great weekend ladies! Cheers!!!

Hi everyone....been cleaning and shredding old documents today...I just realized it is beer thirty.  We are still in the process of making our home a bit more secure.  Gutting a thrid bedroom that  is used for storage and remodeling it.  We will be getting one of the > 2000lbs gun safes....not cheap, but thats what we have decided to do.  So Jaybird...we are now in the construction mode also.  Good to hear from you.  Can't wait for the pictures.  I am thankful to have this little netbook and so far...no suspicious activity has been reported on bank accounts or credit.  Still working with insurance.  Where is Lori?  Did I miss something about her leaving town again?  Dee....I am so sorry.  You keep your chin up, and please do check in again.  Kitty, glad you are home again....I bet your speaker training for Komen was very emotional....I am not on any anti-deppressants, so I cry when my toothpaste doesn't squirt out easily.  I don't think I could listen to stories like that.  Erika, how is your tan coming along?  Kathy....how is the foot coming along?  Well, I got on some crappy photo editing software to share a picture of me these days....I want to recopy a copy of a cheer......Cheers to no burglary fears, lots of beers, no tears, slimming mirrors, and 5 more years!

Thanks to HunkyD....you always do put a smile on my face, as I am LOL!!!! What a pic! Sounds like a good idea to turn that br into a place for that big gun safe! Want you to feel secure, and that just might do it.

WHOA...everyone hear all the yelling from my house? My dad and DH were watching the AL football game...wasn't looking good....but now THEY JUST WON against LSU!!!! YAY!!!! Well, I thought that was what happened with all the yelling.....but apparently it LOOKS like they will win it. Keeping my fingers crossed! Been a long time since the Bear Bryant days....we need them to be champs again.

Dee, Still thinking of you...know this is a terribly hard time for you. Your grannie does sound like she is ready to reuinite with her departed husband....she will be in no pain....it is everyone who is left that will be hurting and missing her so much. You sound like you are doing as well as can be expected....be sure to try to get some rest when you can.

jaybird, Glad the remodel is going well. I do love to paint.....PAINT PARTY at Jaybirds house....let us know when to be there! Too bad Milan is dreary right now. Hope it ends up to be a better trip than expected. What was Avery on Halloween?

Kittykat, Sounds like a great conference you went to! Sounds like you will be speaking on their behalf?

Pau Hana time here......Hope everyone is coming out to PARTAY!!!!!!

Yes, I will be speaking to community groups about breast cancer awareness and Susan G Komen.  I'm pretty excited about it.  I didn't expect it to be emotional today.  What was I thinking?  A group of survivors & co-survivors???

Dee, I am sorry to hear about Granny, but it sounds like you have a hold on things. If I remember right, she was in her 90's. We can not live forever, we all have to go sometime and she was certainly blessed to have lived such a long time, and you too you were blessed to have had a grandparent at your age. I have not had a grandparent since I was in my twenties. It will hurt, we know.....but I am sure you will have many many wonderful memories. Hugs for you.

HD, Yes I was gone AGAIN! We went to an auction, about 4 hrs away. They were suppose to have a "jail wagon" and a "stage coach" there. Well, turns out it was the same person that was bringing both of those, and he was a no show. There were alot of people that traveled there, just like us, for that reason. They even tried to call him, to see where he was, and no answer. Unless it was just an adv. ploy to get more people there! But we did get some other things...spent about $ 400.       Your picture is hilarious! You may never leave here! We are going to get our own 2000lb safe here at the HTL, and keep you in it. Or put some kind of device on you, so you can't leave the property. Oh, and I loved your comment about crying over the toothpaste not squeezing right!

Kathy, I didn't hear any screaming (not a sports nut for anything) but I will join you for a drink. Early morning here, so make it a vodka & tomatoe. My tummy can't handle a bloddy mary. I sure hope you were able to get that shower. I was starting to smell something funny out here, but didn't want to say anything!   LOL, lmao.....JK!

Kitty, what a wonderful thing to do. I raise my hat to you (and my glass), I just couldn't do it. I would be a wreck. So, THANK YOU!

Jaybird, so good to have you back. I know you will be so glad to get that job done. It took us 18 months to do our house, and it was soooooo nice to finally be done and move in.

Junie, hope you are having fun with your friends.

Cheers to everyone, hope you are enjoying your weekend.

*EDITED* I am so sorry for being so rude. Welcome Carol, I did notice you, my mom had called while I was posting and I was trying to remember everyone and everything I wanted to say. Guess I didn't do a very good job! You will really like it. Take a look around. I posted pics (links) a little earlier.

Good morning Lori! Joining you for a drink...Bloody Mary please, Pants. Oh wait....make that a STRONG Irish Coffee....need to wake up first and that should do it! YES, I sure did get that shower on Fri....couldn't wait. Reminded me of after breast surgeries....but not nearly as long to wait. BIG Bummer about that  A$$ not showing up with the goods. It sounded like such a neat item...but with so many others showing up to see it, the price may have gone sky high. Glad you found some things to purchase after such a long drive. I agree....we need to keep HD here, no matter how!!!

KittyCat, REALLY great that you will be speaking on behalf of bc. Kudos to you! I get toooooo nervous in front of large groups.....couldn't do it. Well.....maybe after downing a few I could...J/K!

Hope you are doing okay, Dee. Remember we are right there with you, holding you up!

junie, Having a good weekend??? Hope you were able to spend enough time in the casino there....and that MAYBE you won!!! I know you're having a ball with your friends....

Hard to believe my dad returns to HI on Tues...this month sure has flown. He and DH are going fishing in the big lake here in our subdiv.....will be a first for them here, but it is stocked, so maybe we will have some yummy fish for dinner! My mom stays till the day b4 Thanksgiving, so I still will get to spend lots of time with her (and she LOVES to shop!).

Sending a big HI to all you gals I didn't mention in this post.....hope everyone is doing well!

Beautiful day today.....lets have a PARTAY by the pool.....Pants and Jocks have their shirts off....what a view!

big hugggsssss to all and hoping for a good week-end winding down for all!   We had a good, fun trip to visit our friends, but always glad to get back home.   Did get to hit their casino a couple times--no big wins to shout out but we left up just a few $...a wash in a casino is always a good time!!!  If we ever dry out enough to get a roofer out, we'll be back in some kind of "construction" re-do, too--and I won't be a very happy camper!!!!

Jabird--if you ever get much of a layover in Milan, try to make a trip up to Lake Como, if you haven't already.   One of my many favorite places!!!

Wecome, Carol!   Jocks has my bucket o'beer piled high, so heading out to the pool and joining the PARTAY!!!

    Hi Gals!

Goldie, thanks for reposting links for those impressive photos. This is one of my "happy places" where I go in my head when things get difficult. Reminds me of a vacation that hubby & I once took...

Welcome Carol!  Pull up a seat, banana hammock, warm fluffy towel, lounger or whatever makes you happy, and have a drink. I'm on my second mimosa as we speak...

HD - you look smokin' fabulous as always. (I simply must know what type of mud mask you're wearing?) Kudos on the gun safe, and let me know if you're ever in town, we'll head to the range for some target practice (unless you're using your shotgun :)

Dee - sending up positive thoughts for you and your family's peace of mind, and strength of spirit. We were fortunate to have each of my grandmothers until they were in their 90's, but I know how much I miss them. I hope your dear grandmother is resting well and comfortably. We're in the same city, so please pm me if there is anything I can do for you.

Hubby and I have been cleaning out our den for my recuperating room, as I have surgery scheduled for Weds (bilat w/ TE). Any advice from anyone who's been there would be greatly appreciated. I read a few postings on the surgery thread, but couldn't get through all of it.

Somber, tearful, clinking glass cheers for Dee and her family,

    E

Good Morning Everyone! Late last night I realized today is our wedding anniversary...we celebrate monthly on the 9th, and BOTH of us forgot that today was going to be the big, yearly one...LOL. So now trying to decide where to go for dinner....etc. Maybe we'll end up much later tonight with a big party at HTL!!!

E, that is a big surgery you have coming up. I had the same thing, and getting stuff ready early really helped! For me, I bought big shirts and sewed pockets inside near the bottom hem to hold the drains (some people get a vest or camisole at hosp, but I wasn't offered one), and safety pinned them in too, as I had some drains for 5 wks. Had big pants ready too, LOTS of pillows for propping up as you sleep in an upright or recline position for awhile, recliner is handy too. I hooked up a hand-held shower attach, and also put a small bench in the shower. I also bought "dusters" to wear around the house....make sure anything like that buttons or snaps up the front, as you can't raise your arms for awhile. I put a lot of items I use often, at waist height...so wouldn't have to raise up or bend down for them. OH, and a comfy squishy pillow for the ride home..and I kept it in the car as it cushioned me against the seat belt strap. My PS had us change the dressings at the drains often, so had to get lots of gauze, tape, and ointment...you might call them and see what they want you to use, if anything. Just thought of something else: I put shampoo, soap, etc in a mesh bag that I could hang in the shower and hang on my arm if needed....cause I wouldnt' be able to reach for them up high.Thats all I can recall at the moment! We will definately be thinking of you on Wednesday, and PLEASE let us know how you are doing,as soon as you can get online!!!!!!

Dee, still thinking of you, and knowing how very hard this is for you....and how sad you must be feeling. We are always here for you. Try to get rest when you can, so you won't get run down. Gentle hugs for you.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Don't forget our big PARTAY tonight! Don't dress fancy, we might be jumping in the pool. And you know what they say about "The last one in the pool...."

    ChEARS to many years,

    Kathy

Erika, I think Kathy gave you some great pointers.  All I can really remember complaining about was those sucking jackson pratt drains....yes, and make sure they are sucking...LOL!  They will give you instructrions to empty, measure, and strip the tubing.  I found that when I had to strip the tubing if I put just a little lotion on my index finger and thumb it helped alot.   I know you probably don't know what I am talking about but you will.   I have had a total of 8 drains in my past 3 surgeries.  I also am not as handy at sewing as Kathy is to make little pockets for the drains under clothes...so..my husband went to our local True Value Store and bought me a lightweight, cotton, carpenters nail apron that was so handy to put the drains in under shirts, etc.  Just tied around my waist..My surgeons thought my husband was a genious and I was pretty happy too...it has two big pockets that can hold up to 6 drains...trust me on that.  I had 6 at once.  I wish you well my friend....don't try to overdue.....it's just going to take a little time.  I will be thinking of you on Wednesday.  Happy Anniversary Kathy...hope you are going to have fun tonight!  I got approved for H1N1 shot....yahoo....have to wait until next wednesday though. I have to cut this short as it is my turn to cook....crap.   I am in no mood for it either...onc appt tomorrow and I always get nervous sour stomach before them. Take care and love ya all....Hugs to DEE.....HunkyD

Kathy, I forgot about your monthly anniversary. But good thing you remembered the yearly one! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and your Hubby! I am out by the pool waiting for the party to start!

Erika, I can not help you at all, other than being an ear that can listen to you bitch and complain! I wish you the very best, fast healing and pain that is at the very least, bearable. We will be there with you in spirit. If you are having a hard time........go to that "Happy Place" the HTL! Good advice from Kathy, maybe HD can offer some too.

Dee........just sending some good vibes your way and letting you know we are thinking about you and your family...........SMILE FOR G'MA! We love you!

Kathy, did Dad and Hubby catch any fish?

HD, hope your day was a good one!

Junie............I just don't know what to say to you girl! I am still laffin!

Heading out to pool and getting into Junie's bucket O' ML's!

Hello to my Breast Friends, We had a really nice anniversary....parents went with us out to eat, and with all the courses, we ate waaaaaaaay toooooooo much! And bananas foster for dessert! Had champagne before we went out....so I need to digest before I can PARTAY at the HTL....looks like a late night! Thanks so much for all the nice wishes!

HunkyD, that is a GREAT idea about the hardware apron...wish I had thought of that...love that idea!  E, hope you can pick up one, as it sounds really handy. Also E, I did too much after surgery, and found out too late that because I didn't rest enough might be why my drains kept draining TOO MUCH for them to be removed. So, get a lot of rest, and don't do tooooo much activity, and maybe your drains will come out a lot sooner! Make sure you get all the pain meds your dr prescribes, OH and this is VERY important...get some stool softeners and take them even before surgery!!!! So many of us got very constipated after this surgery, and you just don't want to go there...really. I took them till after I was through with all the pain meds and antibiotics, and still had a bad episode. So be aware of that, and take precautions.

Lori, they only caught one tiny fish, so threw it back. :(  Have to get up early in the am, and take my dad to the airport at 5 am....boy his month here sure went fast!

Junie, you are not going to believe this...my mom and I were talking about Tunica and she said what a good time she had. I said its too bad you wouldn't want to go again, cause we have more free rooms, etc....and she WANTS to go back...LOL. Said just to find her that fun machine she played last time...and she has never been in casinos, so that cracked me up. So maybe we will head out there in a few days! She will be here 2 more weeks....

HD, Glad you will get the H1N1 shot! Hope your onco visit goes well tomorrow, and please let us know what the dr says. I am hoping for only good news!!!!! I had a call today from a nurse trying to call in meds for my upcoming surgery....I kept asking her if I was the one she wanted to reach, and she said yes, and kept mentioning my upcoming surgery. By now I am thinking WTH...how am I forgetting I have a surgery scheduled???? When she mentioned the surgery on the 16th, I realized she meant to call my HUSBAND! Sheesh....she had me worried for a while!

Will be at the party later on.....might have to stay and party all night long since I have to be up so early. Lets have a blast.....PARTY HEARTY!!!!

    Hugs and Love,

    Kathy

I wasn't sure if this was the appropriate place to post surgery info, so I apologize to anyone if I've offended, it certainly wasn't my intent. Thanks to each of you for your kind words and good thoughts - and thanks for just being here!  Will send hubby to buy a nail apron!

I hope Dee and her family are ok, am kind of bummed that I won't be able to help with anything, even online support for a while. {{{Dee}}} sending big hugs, and hoping you're ok. You were one of the first to welcome me here, and I appreciate your kindness so much! Take care of yourself, and hope to see you soon.

Hope everyone has fun at the party - please post any pics (with names changed to protect the guilty). Drink one or ten for me!  I'll hope to be back next week sometime.

    Thanks for the mammaries,

    "Double-or-Nothing Erika"
