OMG - LOVE the sock monkey pics - TOO funny! lolol

Got one pocket door stained, the other has to go back because it's defective. Pride of place for sure! Had to stain outside in the wind with leaves blowing all over but it turned out okay. The regular doors can be stained later as they're already hung.

Just having some cheapo Beringer Cabernet with an excellent cheese I brought back from Milan. Trying to relax after a busy day.....

    Cheers!

    Happy Saturday!

Jaybird, when we did our house. I wanted wood windows. So we got Andersons, wood windows. No one told me they came as bare wood, and that you had to sand, stain and varnish them yourself. Well, I have lots of windows and 5 of them are like 5' long. There are like 8 peices to each window, and if it is a double window, there are 17. Sooooooo, I sand, stain and varnish everything. (the wood is pine). We go to put up the trim, knotty alder.........and it doesn't match at all! I had to strip, EVERY SINGLE PEICE! Talk about a disappointment and a job! After we stripped it all, I took it to a guy and had him do it.

I am amazed at that sock monkey dress. WHO WOULD HAVE THUNKED!

Enjoy the weekend girls, and have fun on your date Jaybird.

    Luv ya all.

    Whew Ladies,

I'm dashing in for an Irish coffee.

Dee, I'm so very sorry about your dear granny.  I lost all my grandparents by the time I was 5, so I tend to latch onto other people's.  I'm glad you got to spend some time with her at the end.

HD, I love the shotgun accessory.  I selfishly admit, I'm so glad your picture magic is back.  Your test is none too shabby either, so I agree with Lori...you must wear a house arrest anklet and never leave HTL.

Jaybird, I'm sorry about your tile work.  How aggravating.  I had food poisoning one time.  It was the only time in 20 years that I had to call in sick.  Hope you're over it. Did you say something about a date?  Details?

Junie, I'm thinking of you today.  I woke up to glorious rain.  It's been 2 months since we've had precipitation.  Thanks for finally sending it my way.  It may put a slight kink in our Saturday plans.  We're doing another light rail pub crawl.  We plan on four separate stops.  I guess I'd better dust off the umbrella.

Lori, are you getting any rain or snow?  We'll be going to the cabin for Thanksgiving.  I always hope for snow but rarely get it at that time.  My DH and I decided we like pork ribs better than turkey, so it has become our tradition.  I like your Laughlin idea, too.

Kathy, I'm glad you're out of the surgical boot.  My Mom has recovered faster than any of us had hoped.  She's out of the cast, all the pins are out, and she drives herself to PT.  How are you going to walk around on your own now that you've gotten used to being carried by Jocks and Pants?

Hey Donna, I'm glad you still pop in.  Work has been overwhelming with my boss away for a few days.  I'm just now catching up on my sleep.  Work really does interfere with one's drinking.

E, kudos on the BC public speaking.  I'd need a snootful to get up in front of all those people.  Hell, it takes a glass of wine to talk to the bunch of you.  Are you the one who just had surgery?  I hate when you get into the middle of a long post and can't go back to previous pages without losing it.  I'm sorry if I got my facts wrong, but whoever just had surgery, take it easy.  Give yourself permission to do nothing but heal.  I was a sloth and had my drains out weeks before Kathy (sorry girl).

Welcome new gals.  Think of this as an oasis among friends who understand what you are going through.  Most of the time I feel more Big A$$ than Bad A$$, but it was a nice sentiment.

Sorry if I left anyone off.  You're all in my thoughts even if I can't get by here everyday.

    Carol(AZ)

It's Sunday and a mimosa (or five) would be great! Unfortunately I'm at work and can't drink until Monday!  :(

The 'date' was with an old b/f. Actually I don't think he was ever a "b/f" but someone I casually dated. I wanted more and he didn't. Now he likes me more than I like him. Oh well. The sex was never good with him and I can't tell him that so I "blame" the cancer/menopause for my lack of desire. Little does he know that I DO have desire - for other men! I actually have a 'date' in Moscow, some corporate pilot I 'met' on plentyoffish. I don't expect much but will report back if anything exciting happens. Moscow is dreary and expensive and I usually just spend time in my warm and quiet hotel room and catch up on rest so meeting someone there may be a nice change. I have a real date (well, s*x anyway) coming up in Manchester this week with the Scotsman I met in Malaga. He's definitely someone I'm excited about seeing! ;) I can hardly understand a word he says as his accent is so strong but who says we have to talk?

The bad pocket door was replaced but now I have to have the contractor take it out so that I can stain it. I'm not sure why they put it in before I did??? I'm happy enough with the remodel but am very frustrated with how long it's taken and with all the re-do's. You definitely get what you pay for and if I would have had the $15k more that the other contractor's wanted I'd have gone with them. Ugh! Makes a girl want to drink, ya know?

Well, Happy Sunday drinking to all my buds! Cheers!

CAZ, excellent post...I have to use another program and go back through all the pages to do something like you did and then cut and paste...I think you were spot on with everyone..so, I will just say copy paste what CAZ said and also add that I hope you have a good time at your cabin for thanksgiving CAZ.  It is just around the corner.  Also wish to add that Jaybird seems to be having some fun on the side..wahoo.  And doesn't it just chap your ass when you have to do anything over that you figured the contractor was hired to do....I hate that because in my opionion that's why I hired the work done in the first place,,,,so I didn't have to do it!  Sorry you hired some contractors with their "plum-bobs off a hair"  LOL.  Well, had more than my share of beer and food yesterday and good visit with friends.  I wasn't even awake in time for Dees mimosas this morning!  Take care all of you!  Erika..how ya doing?  Hope you are healing!  Drop in when ya can....XXOO HunkyD

    • Hi girls! Dee, love your mimosa fountain...sorry I missed it though. :( Just got to Tunica and having an icy cold beer b4 going down to the casino for drinks, food, and FUN! Love the visual though, thanks for posting it!!! Will be thinking of you tomorrow....hope all is going as well as it can.
    • CAZ, So nice your mom is recovering so well....I am happy to hear that!!! Think we all need to go to your cabin for a girls weekend.....esp if it started snowing! Jaybird, your dates sound REALLY interesting! Can't wait to hear all the juicy details. Neat to meet for a date in different countries. Don't bang yourself over the head that you didn't pay more $$$ for the other contractor. We went with the expensive guy, and it was a NIGHTMARE! Totally. Thought we were going to die over it...finally had to get a lawyer and fire him....AFTER he destroyed a lot of our house. THEN when we hired another contractor 2 yrs later to fix all the bad stuff and finish it, his worker FELL on his head from way up high...thought he had died....even after I asked to hold his ladder and he refused me. Had brain surg, etc., then he tried to sue us. AAARRRGGGHHHH. Luckily his atty realized he didn't have a case, and now it is all behind us. But it doesn't always mean a better contractor, by  how much they charge....just wanted to tell you that. How we wish we had gone with the cheaper guy from the get-go! That was 3 yrs of being in a nightmare, for us. I totally feel my cancer may have come on because of all that stress from that first contractor....JMHO, but the stress was more than we could handle. And his bullying....sheesh.
    • Sorry to rattle on and on......but that contractor stuff just brought back all those bad memories. Wish you all were here with us in Tunica! That would be a blast. I'll let you all know if I run into "Hunk".

Hey, hey - no more pictures, you guys are making me laugh!!(and it hurts like h***).

Hello all - just want to say I missed you all so much. Am home after 2 nights in hosp - all went well, except I had to have my PS dismiss a student nurse - I felt awful, she was a lovely person, but like I told dr - this is difficult enough, and I need some efficiency. (It took about 1 1/2 hours for my assessment and pain meds - BUZZZ, I'm sorry, that's too long, but we have some lovely parting gifts). Luckily 2 other nurses stuck up for me & they were wonderful. Maybe I'll write her a little note in a few weeks. Anyway, hubby and mom are a godsend keeping my meds straight & helping with exercises.

Hope everyone is well. Dee, please know I'm thinking of you & hope you and your family are healing. HD - you are the picture of loveliness as always (I have many lbs to lose before I can ask to borrow that costume!) And a Senokot Sling sounds lovely - or maybe a VicoGin & tonic? Whatever, as long as it comes with a side of celery and broccoli...

Everyone - all the best from my little rocking chair. Hang in there & be good to yourselves!

Oh, Erika, glad you came through it ok...it is a major surgery indeed and I am so sorry you had to deal with slow assessment.  Your pain management is what your top priority sould have been as you came out of surgery.  I hope you are doing well with your great care takers at home...just don't try to over due anything as that will keep your drains filling more than they should...Hope you get those out pretty soon.  It will get easier day to day....and I hope you have the tolerance to deal with all the emotions.  It is not easy!   I am thinking of you and glad you are home....We will save a percotiny or two for you at the lounge....XXOO HunkdyD

    Jocks!  Fill up my bucket--quick--p l e a s e!!!

Hunk--get the massage chair ready--quick--p l e a s e......had a mini-meltdown tonite--DH inadvertently made me miss my fav Sunday show--Amazing Race (which he also enjoys).   Football usually messes up the timing, so he thought he had set it to record.  But, he set it to remind, and he dozed off to sleep and I was off doing other stuff.   When I finally went to check, it was too late!   He is not in the dog house since he cooked one hell of a dinner today, and I'll catch up tomorrow on the internet.

CAZ--glad you got some needed rain--wish I could send you more!  Two months without rain--we're lucky to go two days.....it is pouring right now.   I am on ceiling patrol!   Have the coolers handy if we need them.   We can't dry out long enough to get a roofer out--what a frustration!!!

Casino Girl--you are such a sweetheart, but you really don't need to send any more rain my way!!!

Wahine--if you go back to Tunica one more time, Hunk is going to think you are stalking him!!!  Hope you're having a great time and that your mom is enjoying it, too.

Jaybird--sounds like your job has some very fun side benefits!!!  Way to go, girl!!!

Staying away from E til you heal a bit more--I am the proverbial klutz, bull in a China shop--I'd bring you a drink to your rocker and trip and fall right on top of you!   Ouch!!!

Huggssss, Dee!   I'll drink Mimosas at breakfast if I can't get a Bloody Mary--I really don't care for Orange Juice--takes about 4 or 5 before I start to like them!  LOL!!!!

Lori--thanks!!!  I know who to call next time I want some wood stained!!!!   Bless your heart, I KNOW what a chore that was!

yay!!!  My bucket's full and the ML is icy cold--heading out to the pool.......later gators!!!

Morning! Dee, thinking of you today..realizing it wll be a hard day. Hope the day will be really nice, for the burial. No rain, just sun.

Junie, Looks like we are in the same rain band as you right now....pouring all day...good thing we don't need to leave the casino. Haven't seen Hunk yet....we ate waaaay too much last night so didn't gamble...were just too miserable...LOL. I think this rain will be where I live tomorrow....so will prob have to drive in it all the way home.....aaarrrrggghhhh. Hope you won't need to use the coolers!

E, Gentle healing....don't overdo! HD, hope you are doing well, and it wasn't too hard to get out of that monkey suit. CAZ, Jaybird, Donna, and others, have a wonderful Monday. DH just brought up a cappucino to me in bed....hmmmmmm good start to the day....hope the tables will be nice to us as well as the machines....need some $$$$$! Downstairs soon for a Bloody Mary...Ciao!

Cheers to Big Wins, No Double Chins, and Drinks with Gin,

Hey Caz, good to see you. No snow yet but cold at night, 10 degrees this morning! Bring lots of warm fuzzies when you come up! Hope you had a wonderful time on your pub crawl. Bar-B-Que ribs and shrimp for us on Thanksgiving.

Dee, great fountain! I hope you are getting back to life as you know it.

Jaybird, I hope you have a great time on your date in Moscow and Manchester, or at least some good s*x! (don't forget protection)

HD, so glad you enjoyed your day with friends. We so need those!

Kathy, I know you are having fun in Tunica, especially with mom there. You must have told hubby that Lori gets cappuccino from the cappuccino fairy when we go away! And if you are wanting to come up to the mountains and hoping for snow, you better get here before the snow. Driving can be rather treacherous on snowy mountain roads. And as for the bullets.....stranger things have happened at The HTL!

Erika, so glad you posted and things are well. I must agree, student nurses are not what we need and I am sure she understood. Don't let it bother you. I am posting a picture, so don't look! Gentle hugs for you.

Junie, what can I say.........your posts are always SO VIVID and always make me laugh. Maybe Kathy can clue you in on Amazing Race, I think she watches it. And you could always look on line too.

Sorry I have been MIA. We are having trouble with internet connections in the house, and some puter problems in the office. And I don't go in the office on the weekends!

Much love to all my drinkin buds.....how about some Pumpkin Pie?

    Hi Drinkin' Buds~

This is off-topic, but I can't hold it in.  I am OUTRAGED at the new "guidelines" for base line mammograms to begin at age 50 instead of age 40.  This is a huge step backward, and JMO, but sounds like health care rationing to me.  We all know sisters under the age of 50 and even 40 who have lost the battle.  I was 42 when diagnosed, and would be stage IV or dead now if I had to wait until age 50 for my baseline mammo.

Getting ready to hit the bar  (okay, so I already did...)

    GRRRRR.

Nicely asking Jocks to fill by bucket--much to read and ponder on tonight.

Lori--I KNEW there was some reason I never cottoned to pumpkin pie--now I know why!!!   And, I will never see another one without laughing out loud!!!  Too funny!!!!

...later, all--off to read and fume!!!    love ya!!!!

ok--been carousing and browsing....new forum...Advocacy.....and thread to sign up against new mammography guidelines....seems to be several other threads going also.  Really hot/interesting topiic!  And, mind-boggling to me--guess I've been thinking that with such an increase of younger woemen being presented with bc, that the guidelines for mammos would be lowered to a lesser age--"they" want to raise it?????     .....throws up hands in total disbelief!!!...........hoping to have dvd'd tomorrow's show where our Dr Weiss goes head on head with the Komen foundation--or is that a figment of Jock's imagination!!!!   Buckle up, ladies!!!!!

HA! LOVE the pumpkin pie - I think? I'll never look at anotehr again without seeing that pic!

The guy I met in Moscow was a dud. I had 'alternate' plans (an excuse) to meet with the crew and would have gotten out of it had the guy been okay. So I actually did hang out with the crew, got buzzed on two beers (jetlag will do that to you) and was crashed out before Midnight. Cold and snowy in Moscow. It gets dark there very early!

I'm off to Manchester tonight and will hopefully meet the Scotsman there on Thursday but he has some issue going on at home and may not make it. Oh well, I can always drink some good beer and hang out on the Internet! Maybe even try to post some pics???

The remodel is still limping along. The shower tiling is not fully re-done yet. (sigh)

    Cheers to all!

I am BACK ! Hated not having internet in the house. How the hell did we live without computers??? I have mixed feelings about this mamo shit. I had a baseline done when I was 40, and often wonder if that wasn't what gave me my cancer! I think it should be our choice and it be covered by the insurance companies at any age! And that is all I am saying on that.

Jaybird, hoping your Manchester date goes better than Mr. Moscow. Wait, I change my mind...cuz if it doesn't turn out....we get pictures??? I want pictures!

HD, glad you got flu shot and I am with you .....  what the hell.....a 2 beer buzz? I want one of those!

Dee, Vit C and Zinc. Hope you feel better soon. Loved the hot toddy (tattie) good one!

KitKat, we have an ATV too, just don't get out and use it much! We want to take it to Mt Zion. Maybe one of these days. Where do go there in Vegas?

    E, hope you are healing.

Donna, I'm gonna keep you a seat at the bar dusted off, if you are coming by more often. Gots to have a clean seat for one of my breast buds!

Kathy, where are you? Did you win big and run off on us? And all of other newbies. How come very few ever stick around?

the one compelling reason i read of why not to drink  - is the doctor who explained that if the liver is busy processing alchohol it is less likely to be able to filter and remove any estrogen that we produce.. for estrogen driven cancers this should be considered.

that said, i really wish i could drink a couple beers EVERY nite.  i love a good dark beer and will occasionally have one.

    Hi Drinkin Buds~

I'm on a 2-hour conference call right now UHG!  Best part is - it's out of Ireland, and I dig listening to the accents!

My cancer was estrogen driven, and am aware of potential dangers, but choose to drink a couple of drinks on 4-5 nights a week anyway.   I have always been somewhat of a rebel. Surprised Plus, what would Jocks and Pants do if we didn't drink? LOL.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is a week from today!  Where does the time go?  I sent that pumpkin pie pic to my sis who always makes the pies and told her all this time I thought she made them from scratch, but now I see where they REALLY come from!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Cheers,

OMG.....now I have that visual everytime I think of pumpkin pie...yikes! I don't like crust, so my DH will make a sugarless pumpkin pie w/out crust every couple of months.....and you know what....it sure looks like that pic!!!   OK....(clears head)....sorry I've been MIA for awhile...Tunica was FUN...and yes, I got to see Hunk, and now my mom knows why he has that nickname from us! Had lots of yummy food, great drinks, free rooms, BUT of course we ended up leaving some money there....darn it!

Dee, Hope you get over that cold....maybe you need to drown it in that hot tottie....or several!

Donna, I love those accents too. Ireland is still on my "places to see" list....one of these days...

HunkyD....don't forget to drink lots of water (I mean beer) today! Glad you got that shot, esp since you were exposed to it.

Well, I think those new "guidelines" or whatever are a piece of sh*t....we ALL know gals who were diagnosed at a young age. To me, 50 is much, much too late to start baseline mammo. I hope they get enough flak about it, and either leave them at 40, or change them to start at 30. 'Nuff said.

Well, it is over 3 hrs till pau hana time here......so guess I will just have to keep working till then. LOTS to do before turkey day, having the whole gang over.....plus 5 will be staying with us for a few days. BUT my mom leaves to go back home on Wed, so I do want to spend as much time as I can with her. I think I need 48 hours in each day, at least....last night I was up till 3 am trying to catch up on things......how do you gals do it that go off to work every day? Hats off to you!!!

Cheers to all you working gals!
