how about drinking?

Lori - this waiting is killing me!!!! The hematologist said to make an appointment one week after the bone marrow biopsy which is tomorrow - but my appointment isn't till Monday the 13th. I will call tomorrow to see if there is any news. Don't know if they will share on the phone or not or if they'll post on the patient portal. I feel like back in February 2006 when I was Dx with BC, but then I got the results the day after the biopsy, but the rest of the month was filled with appointments. In a month of 28 days, I had 12 medical appointments.
Dental cleaning this morning, ultrasound of parathyroid tomorrow afternoon, follow up with hematologist on Monday and another appointment on Wednesday - four appointments in 6 days!!! That will bring 11 appointments since January 12th including labs!!!
Damp, cold weather today with chance of drizzle.
Have a great Tuesday

Hang in there Karen. I know those feelings, all too well. Try and stay busy to keep your mind off of things. How about your foot? Hugs my friend!

Lori - I'm busy at work - today I pretty much went non-stop. Tonight DH and I were watching a movie and I just broke down crying. I just want to know what I'm facing - it's the waiting that is horrible. The foot is still sore - not complaining about the boot anymore - the foot has to heal. Thanks my friend for your hugs.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Hump Day! The Wednesday, Women, and Wine group get together is this evening, we're meeting at a place called Geaghan's Pub, in honor of St. Patrick's Day coming up. I'm going to have to remind the puppers that I'll be home late when I leave for work this ayem.
Goldie--I was up until 11:30 peeyem Monday night--till 9ish finishing the paper, then in bed around 10, and read escapist fantasy until my brain wound down. My usual bedtime is 9ish. It's odd, if I go to be around 9 and don't stay up reading, I'll wake up just before the alarm and can get out of bed pretty easily. If I go to bed around 10, getting up is a struggle. I suspect it's because of it starting to get light out just before the alarm goes off, we'll see after this weekend when I go back to getting up in the dark. I've heard that ravens are smart birds, yours certainly seem to be!
Karen--the waiting is so, so hard. And so unfair and not right. I do hope they will give you some info when you call. 12 appointments in 28 days, what a ride!!! Surviving cancer is a full time job these days. Hugs and prayers.

Karen, sorry about the break down, but not surprised. We are all here waiting with you.
NM, so it sounds like you finished your paper around bed time, but too wound up to sleep. I got it! Have fun with the WWW gathering.
Not much on my end, still windy, but temps are nice.
Where is everyone???

I read the posts but don't have much to say of any interest. Today is a BIG birthday, the beginning of another decade. Hint. I'm finishing up the 70's. This morning my phone is busy with texts from family members wishing me a Happy Birthday. I'm wondering where all the years went. When you're busy, they go fast.
Happy Wednesday to all.

Mid day tequila sunrise, just because.

Carole - Happy Birthday. I'm only one year behind you. Are you & DH going out to dinner or waiting for the weekend?
Mae - I love the inscription on the glass. Just finished talking to my BFF - always a relatively long conversation since we no longer live in the same town. Just because... I had two 'pony' glasses of Amarula while I was talking.

Still waiting on bone marrow biopsy results. Called hematologist office this afternoon and no call back. Looked on patient portal at hospital and no final report. Hopefully tomorrow. The waiting is torture!!
Ultrasound of thyroid/parathyroid was this afternoon. Tech said I should have the results by Friday.
Carole - hope you had a nice birthday.
Illimae - I need some of that liquid courage!

Happy birthday Carole 🥳🎂
My drinks this week have been coffee and iced tea but I'm hankering for a cocktail. I told DH if I did not have an evening zoom meeting tonight our lasagna would have had some sweet red wine alongside. 🍷🍷
NM and Goldie in particular glad you are getting through the weather ok (and NM a paper!! Agh.) Feel like I'm getting a bit old for that! Good for you 👍

Karen we bumped posts....thinking of you as you wait. We are with you. 🤗👍

Good Morning. Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! I had a great time at the WWW get together last night. I had Shepherd's Pie, and it was YUMMY! I'm not a beer drinker, and this is a Pub attached to a microbrewery, so the wine choices were sparse, but Prosecco was good enough to warrant a second glass. The puppers weren't too upset with me coming home late, but they sure were not going to let me do anything on the computer or tablet, all my attention needed to be on them! Sometimes they act like a couple of toddlers jealous of whose getting Mama's attention!
Goldie--yup, my mind was wound after finishing the paper. Going to work on making sure I don't end up waiting until the last minute to do the work again.
Happy Birthday, Carole! The time does fly, doesn't it?
Good Morning, Sunshine, Illi, Minustwo!
Karen--the waiting for results is torture. Keep calling the hematologist office, and start calling about the ultrasound on Friday. The squeaky wheel and all, you know.
Reader--I'd have been tempted to put the sweet red wine in a coffee mug to dip on during the Zoom meeting! Who would have known the difference?

Carole, my favorite saying to my birthday is "I'm only a day older than I was yesterday!" Happy Birthday! Congrats on hitting that mile stone too!
BabyGirl, no better reason than "just because", cheers!
Minus, I had to look up Amarula, never heard of it. I see it's a liqueur and it says it has a fruity carmel taste. How do you drink it?
Karen, more waiting.....ugh! Well, at least you should know a little something by Friday, otherwise it's Monday, right?
Reader, that lasagna would have been much better with the wine! My weather right now is gorgeous, just a bit windy.
NM, Shepherd's Pie sounds yummy, and the prosecco too! I don't think the pups get too upset when you are gone cuz they have each other. But of course, they're happy when mom gets home. Interesting DOTD.
My highs for the next 10 days are 53-67, I could care less how cold it gets during the night!
Carole, have the Tenders get you what ever you like, and it doesn't just have to be a drink!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I love that thought that on your birthday you're only one day older than yesterday. I will remember that.

They interviewed a man here who turned 100. He said he didn't feel a day older than he did last night.

Goldie - Amarula is made from the fruit of the Marula tree in Africa. The look, consistency & feel in your mouth are like Bailey's Irish Cream - but the hint of the Marula fruit makes it delicious. I usually drink sip it from a shot glass before bed. (and - bad girl I know - I often drink it just before 'lights out' and after brushing my teeth). Many people drink it with coffee as an after dinner delight. Some people pour it on ice. Think of how you like Baileys and it will be fine.

The hematology nurse called me yesterday and apologized for taking so long. Still no pathology results on the bone marrow biopsy. She said she would call me as soon as she saw them and if they weren't here today, she would call them. My appointment is Monday morning. So it might be another long week-end. I'm mentally and physically exhausted.
On a positive note, the endocrinologist office called with ultrasound results of my parathyroid - no adenomas on the parathyroid so they will continue to monitor my labs - I'm supposed to go for labs again next week and see her mid April.

Wren, I guess I'm not the only one that thinks that!
Minus, I looked up Amarula. Interesting read about the Marula tree. It only grows in Africa and as hard as they've tried, they can not cultivate it, so it only grows where it so chooses! A favorite with the elephants when it bares fruit.
Nothing going on here, I live a boring life! The wind returns today, but that's ok.
I had to use Bing to translate the recipe.
DOTD: Cocktail Amarula Chocolate Martini
INGREDIENTS:
4 cl Amarula
2 cl Vodka
1 dash Dark Cocoa Cream
1 cl Chocolate Liquid
DECORATION:
Chocolate Zest
Refresh the cocktail bowl and place all the ingredients (except liquid chocolate) in the Shaker with crushed ice. Shake vigorously. Pass the liquid chocolate on the glass walls and melt the shaker right after. Garnish with Chocolate Zest.

Hematology nurse called about an hour ago - still waiting on more results from the bone marrow biopsy - she expects that they will have them for my Monday morning appointment. Not feeling very positive.
My brain is fried and don't want to focus on anything like reading. I generally check emails on Fridays and write my weekly update that my team does, but going to skip it this week.
Foot is still swollen on the bottom near the toes, but ever so slightly less swollen on the top, so will keep wearing the boot. Spring break is in 2 weeks - last week of March. I will wait till then to make an appointment with the Podiatrist if it is still swollen.
I got a sneak peek at the new boards and they look good. Hopefully they will be easier to navigare.
Have a good week-end.

Karen, going to be a long weekend, I'm sorry! A sneak peak eh? You must be one that signed up for that, or were you asked? I'm able to get around just find, but I don't go very far. But I see lots of frustration from members that have been here for a long time. Of course newbies wouldn't know, especially since it's been over a year.

Has anyone heard from Chevy? I miss her & hope she's OK.

Karen, so frustrating not getting your bone marrow biopsy results. Tempted to say "no news is good news." RICE that foot (but you already knew that).
Carole, happy extended birthday. I'm reminded of the line in the "lost" verse (sung only in concert) of "The Boxer" by Simon & Garfunkel: "...I am older than I once was, but younger than I'll be..."
Illimae, tequila sunrises are a blast from the past: my cocktail of choice back in my early '70s law school days, not to mention that Eagles song! On to DsOTD:
Mon. brunch at Brennan's we had Dopff & Irion rosé cremant d'Alsace. On the last leg of our flight home from NOLA & Austin I used my SW drink coupon for some CA rosé.
I hit the ground running upon my return Tues. Bob called at 5:30 to say he was hitting Costco (in the Medical District) and bringing home a rotisserie chicken. Drank the last of the Mumm Napa Sparkling Pinot Noir in the fridge--even though it was nearly flat it was still a nice light red to go with the chicken.
Wed. I had my monthly PT followup--only now are my muscles quieting down after the resistance work. Was supposed to have dinner with our broker...but he came down with a cold, so he had to reschedule. I picked up the fish order and made a Niçoise. Drank Clif Family 2019 Rte. Blanc (Sauv. Bl.).Yesterday, I had my monthly facial downtown. I teetotaled with dinner. Today I stayed home as a geriatric-cat-servant. Tonight we walked to a new (since January) neighborhood bistro--Brasserie by C&C (which used to be a mediocre semi-Mex. taco joint & bar called Cookies & Carnitas--it had cookies but no carnitas). The Trib & Chicago Mag. both raved about it. It was excellent, albeit even pricier than Regalia. I had a Cafe de Paris St. Andre de Cubzac Blanc de Blancs NV with app & salad, and a Pinot Noir (Paso Robles area, I forget the name) with my entree. With dessert, a breve cortado made with Casa Humilde espresso beans.

Minus, I messaged ED (Chevy) Feb 15 on FB. Just said I was dropping by to see how she was and give her my love. She replied "thank you honey! things should be getting better pretty soon." I questioned her on "better?" and told her to PM me, but she didn't. I just sent her an email.
Sandy, welcome home.
Gosh, for half the day yesterday, I thought it was Saturday! When you don't have and kind of a schedule, sometimes it's hard to keep up with days of the week. Waiting to see what this new change here is going to be like. Wishing everyone a great weekend. Still windy here, and the sneezing has started, not bad.....yet!

Hello to everyone on the front side of the "transition." I would also like to know how Chevy is doing. I miss her presence on the Oldies forum where she and Cammi were so much fun in past years.

Sandy, I forgot about the song, I need to add that to my “bar beats” playlist, which already includes tequila and margaritaville. Thanks for the reminder.

The closing part of "The Boxer" is one of my favorite segments of music - that and "Let the Sunshine In" from Hair. I love how the music builds on itself into magnificent layers.
Speaking of S&G, have y'all seen Disturbed's incredible cover for "Sound of Silence"? Beautifully done.
