Mornin' drinking buds! Rainy and dreary here at home, but always sunny at the HTL (except at night...duh!)...so think I need to stay at the HTL all day. Anyone gonna join me by the pool?

Lori, Enjoy your hummies for me...STILL none here...first yr ever that we haven't had any!

Kittycat, Glad you got the PET and MRI over with! I get almost freaked out with even the so-called "open" MRI's....gets me sorta claustrophobic. I don't like feeling like I couldn't get out of there quickly if I needed to. They say just raise your hand and they will stop it, but so far I just keep focusing my mind elsewhere...but always SOOOOO glad when it is over! Hoping for real good results for you. How wonderful that you found such a great onco. Even though you didn't have her before, at least NOW she can coordinate everything for you, and help guide you and decide on treatments. Have a wonderful time in NYC!!! I haven't been there since b4 9-11. Glad your DH is able to go with you, and that you get to spend time with your sis!!!

CryTonight is my mom's last night here b4 heading back to HI. I think in the am I will need a very happy drink to cheer me up! Had a blast at the "Willie Nelson" concert last night (and amazing BBQ...all free), it had to be moved indoors cause of rain, but he was amazing! Looked similar w/his long fake braids, but his VOICE...OMG it sounded identical. He did Johnny Cash good too. Prob was, he would go in the audience and sing to diff women, so I was in the aisle and kept avoiding looking at him when he was near,as I didn't want to be picked. SO, he comes up from BEHIND, and sings to me and pulls me up and made me dance with him in front of everyone. I kept nodding my head vigorously "no" when he sang the love song to me, and everyone laughed! Even funnier, it got DH jealous!!! He was sitting a seat away from me (mom in middle), but right after that he grabbed me to go outside with him to dance (no one was dancing on the dance floor, so I was chicken to dance there), and made sure the singer knew I was with him.....LOL. I told my mom he picked me cause he figured at least I could stand up and be able to dance (was at senior center...lol)! As usual, no one believed her age.....

Gonna get that amazing italian d'asti wine today so we can enjoy it with mom tonight. Many wishes for a good day for all you gals here!!!

Ok --- doggie pool, upwind is fine with me! Jaybird, Lucy is just a fru fru fur baby! That is hilarious that she likes her feet washed!

Gail, I don't even know what to say about that buzz kill moment. Other than agree with Jaybird, and spit the wine out on her! Or give her a big old nasty shoe to stuff in her mouth.

Jello shots, I have never done them either Jaybird! But Dee set some out for us Lizzie....pages and pages back. All sorts of flavors and colors! You could forward all your spam mail over to your PS!

Town day for us and HD, that wind is headed our way. I hear we are suppose to get gusts up to 60 mph. They will be closing the Interstate down again. I would sure be upset if we were gone somewhere and couldn't get home because of that. Altho one year we did get stuck out, but it was from snow.......5' of it. We were in Laughlin, and didn't know. We couldn't get in for 2 days.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Guess I missed a whole page! Heather and Kathy's posts. Didn't see them until mine posted. Kathy, have a great hoo rah with mom and a toast to her from us. Heather, glad things are falling into place for you, and I know you are excited to see your sister. Is she your only sis?

Kitty- a lot of people have stuff done and good for them...I hope it works out but with that lady at Satan's office, saving the world, one limp plumper at a time....I felt like saying 'you're an effin farce!' but then I know I have to conserve my energy so my body can fight bc!   I just hate the non-profs acting like their saving the world when normally those are just clever ways of getting money from people who have it to contribute to causes in hopes the money is serving it's purpose and not building up the coffers of the local midget, jackass plastic surgeon who is inordinately full of himself!  My huge boobs providedan awning for his short, bald ass!

AStorm-  you should tell that 'know-nothing' in your class what my father always told me: believe none of what you hear and half of what you see and then repeat that same phrase as you give her the finger!   People don't understand that bc introduces us to our fate and perhaps a shorter existence than we had originally anticipated.  Live it up because you never know when this trip is going to end, be it bc or a car accident, and I don't know about you all but I am not trying to lengthen my trip by making it BORING!

I am such a jello chef!   BTW, I just got my new Macy's catalog and inside is a Gucci for men insert and who's face is on it?  JAMES FRANCO!!!!!!!!!!!   It is black and white and he looks very good...no, this is not the Jello talking!

Speaking of Jello, I forgot how pretty all the colors are!

Jaybird - no not that I can remember - under the table can be quite fun - it was the being carried out of Trader Vic's resturant by my boyfriend when I was 18 that was.... well embarassing after the fact since I can't say I remember it happening. It was with my whole family and they still love to tease me about that.... oh well.

I have a hummingbird feeder and haven't ever put it up - you all have inspired me!

kittycat - lucky you for the pouty lip  especially being natural. I went to a fund raiser and saw a woman with obviously done lips  which were so awful but it was so hard not to stare as they were just so odd. I kept thinking did she have to relearn how to speak and articulate words and does she bite them when she eats.... just too strange - I guess once they are done what can you do?

Happy TGIF !!!  Kathy--sorry you're getting our rain, but I am so glad to see the sunshine today.   Your mom's visit went by so fast.   Haven't seen any hummingbirds yet--maybe it would help if I put out my feeders!

Too funny--a pet park at the HTL!!!   Pancho can't wait!

Gotta go get busy--the B&B is having company this week end.   Have a few last-minute things to do--like clean house!!

Have a great week end ALL!!!

Heather, there are women like that in California too (especially down south). My inlaws live in Orange County and we do a lot of people watching there.

Lori -- thought of you this morning as I was looking out at my abandoned kitchen garden... and a little hummingbird flew right up to my overgrown sage!

Actually I did drink the 2 (1 oz) pours that were French and spit the others (from CA). I have been a good girl all my life and I got bc anyway so if 2 oz of really good French viognier are going to kill me so be it! Besides, I've been reading "Anti Cancer" and Dr. Servan-Schreiber says that the study people are referring to is the most publicized but not the most dependable. He cites another study that included a much larger sample (over 100,000 people in France) that concluded red wine consumption in moderation with dinner (possibly due to their Mediterranean diet) had a protective effect. There have been other studies that indicate alcohol increases cancer risk only in women wdho do not get enough folate. So, I eat salad and drink red wine in moderation.... plus anything HTL is serving.

    *rant mode on*

Why is it we are made to feel guilty for getting this horrible disease?? It doesn't really matter if we've done something to increase our risks by 1%, does it? What should matter is that we have it, we are beating the crap out of it, and we are going to be better for it. They, on the other hand, still have to live with themselves.

    *rant mode off*

So, how's everyone doing today? I'm actually teetering on the edge of good, but I'm getting more wobbly as the day goes on. Maybe I should go for a dunk in the hot tub. Pants, Jocks, some attention please.

Connie....don't feel alone on the teeter/totter.  I had myself a pretty good cry last night.  Yes, a full blown crying Jag.  Should have had a Jagerbomb instead.  Yum!  Red Bull and Jager.  Not to worry though tonight.  I know Kathy is around here somewhere wanting to dance with Willie...let's saunter out to the pool and have the tenders bring us a bomb of some sorts!  Happy Friday!  PS....Dee, Kitty, good thoughts from the HDory!  Chairs again!

    Good morning, Lounge Ladies!

I am in a strange state this morning.  First, I'm exhausted from yesterday's trip to Boston for pre-op appointment set #2 (genetic testing counseling, seeing the BS and signing that consent form).   Up at 4 am, home at 11:30 pm. Second, 30 days to go before surgery. Officially, one month to go!  It's getting more and more real every day!  Third, I've got pre-op appointment set #3 on Monday, including autologuous blood donation, which involves a needle.  Pre Admission Testing will probably involved blood tests and thus needles as well.  I am petrified of needles.  I'm not sure I'm going to get through Monday without having a panic attack or fainting.  I've already had one panic attack just thinking about the blood donation thing.  I keep telling myself I'm being silly and I need to just buck up and do it. Didn't help when my Mom said she's had lots of needles in her life and they don't bother her, and what's my problem?  Anyway, everything will look better after a second cup of coffee.

kittykat--I'm so glad you got your tests done.  How long before you get the result?  Sounds like you've found a great Med Onc, and have a good plan.  Have a good visit with your sis, too!

wahine--I think it's great that your DH still gets jealous when another mam pays attention to you!

Gail--what a wet blanket that woman was!  I agree that you should have spit your drink all over her.  I think we all need to stock up on candy feet to give out to people when they say something "foot in mouth" stupid.  No explanation, just hand a couple over and smile.  Personal satisfaction without embarassing anyone--the best kind of revenge.

Lucy--maybe your furbaby has a raccoon ancester somewhere?

Jaybird--you know the places that have bars and lounges underneath swimming pools?  Where the patrons can watch the swimmers while they get drunk?  I'm thinking the HTL needs one of those lounges, only underneath a few tables in the main bar rather than under the pool.  Or maybe one under the swim up bar--that should be enterataining, too!

Stanzie--I got buzzed by hummingbird the other day.  Time to dig out my feeder and get it up and filled!

Junie--what else do we need at the Upwind  Doggie Park?  It already has automatic, robotic pooper-scoopers, a treat vendor and a toy vender.  Maybe a professional trainer?  Or Groomer?

Astorm--My garden is horribly neglected, too.  My greek oregano, lavender and chives all came back, along with some pansies and foxglove.  Gotta get some tomatos, green pepper and cucumber in.  I love going out to the garden and picking a salad for dinner!

ConnieS--don't you just love teh "blaming the victim" syndrome?  How can anyone say we did something to cause our cancers when medical science can't explain why 99% of all cancers occur in the first place?  I always want to ask these people why, if every cause of cancer is known, there is no cure or, better yet, prevention that is at least 99% effective?  Oh, well. Another opportunity to hand out candy feet and smile inigmatically.

Hunky--I'm with you--how about a candy filled bomb?

or, better yet, an Atomic Bomb:

    2 dl Beer
    1/2 liter Aquavit

Ok, Sadie is insisting on play time for the second time this morning, gotta go.  See you ladies later!

Yummy! I want one!  After that I need a few for courage. Tomorrow I go to Boston for the needle poke appointments--donating blood and pre-admission testing.  I am so totally needle phobic I've been having nightmares about these appointments for the last 2 weeks.  I almost think tomorrow is going to be harder to get through than the surgery.  At least I can take xanax before I go to the hospital surgery morning.

NM - I was pretty freaked out about my MRI (met a lady in the waiting room of BS's office who told me how baad it was and advised me to get anti-anxiety perscription). DH wasn't available to drive me and I was concerned about how the Xanax might affect me. As I was approaching the pharmacy to pick it up, I noticed a BevMo next door. Bought a split of nice champagne, no Xanax. Had time to swing by the house and pick up a crystal flute and still get to the clinic 30 minutes early. Had my own little tailgate party in the parking lot at the clinic. MRI wasn't so bad... after the MRI I took my time getting back to the car (had to due pre-admissions pokes and x-rays, etc., which all were just fine)... then drove home when I was certain there was no buzz.

NM, My PS wanted me to do an autologous blood donation before my surgery.  I was scheduled to do them two weeks apart.  Unfortunately, my veins did not cooperate.  My fist try I nearly got my quota out and then I just stopped.  Went in again in two weeks for another try, and they sent me away in about 20 minutes saying they would not be able to get an any useful amount of blood from me for my donation.  So, that was that.  I don't mind the needle at all.  I have been stuck so many times it does not phase me.  Chemo certainly introduced me to that!  I had a port but all my CBC's were done via vein.  You will do fine.  And, as it were...I didn't need any blood at all anyway with my surgery.  Just keep focused on getting through the time until your surgery.  We will be there with ya.  P.S.  My veins are small....on every surgery I have, the phlebotmists flip a coin to see who has to come and collect....LOL!  Also, thanks for the wonderful box of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. OMG.......There is just too much to do and not enough me and now I've missed the party!

    (*^$&))*&^$#^Y&**

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HD, my dear dear friend. I sure hope you had a wonderful day. I now feel shite for not checking in yesterday morning. And I check in every day! WTF! HD, for my inconsiderateness.........you may push me in the pool. But please, not the cement pond! Did you get your sink in?

Laughing my butt off at all the pictures! NM, too bad those cans weren't Coors Lite. And Dee with the Hunka Hunka ..... and leave it to Kathy for the one she posted.....Ms Mind in da Gutter! LOL j/k!

    Junie.....what can say...CUTE!

NM, what is it with nurses and fear of needles? I had a friend that was a nurse anesthetist, and hated needles, was scared to death. She had to get over her fear tho, as she had to give herself an injection daily. But she finally got it and was able to administer it herself. (Good luck today)

Jaybird, I hope you are not stranded anywhere....just got off the phone with my mom and she said planes were grounded in England...some boycott or something.

Hugs and love to all my friends here..........if I were a dog, I would have my tail between my legs for missing HD's b'day Embarassed

Lori, I love your sock monkey party picture....adorable!!! I don't think we were that laid-back though....looked like a lot of drinking and craziness going on during HD's partay! Sorry you missed the party...see what happens when you don't check in every day? Mom left on Sat, but I have kept REAL busy so I wouldn't get toooooooooo sad. Miss her already though!

Yeah, Jaybird, Hope you aren't stranded anywhere. This weather is so crazy....wonder if that volcano will ever settle down?

I had to change my avatar and took a new of Maverick...he was getting a little jealous seeing the pics of Sadie....LOL. How many of our fur-babies have gone to the dog park at the HTL...that was such a great addition! NM let us know how today went...hope the needles weren't too bad. I like AStorms method...having the wine in the parking lot!!! That cracked me up...what a great idea though. Sorry you have so many probs with that HD....sorta like your veins try to hide when they see the needle!

Dee, How are you doing gal? Did your liver results come back? Still praying for really good results, and sending hugs your way....(((Dee)))....we're here for you!!!

Junie, Can I come and chill at your B&B? Gotta have only clear stuff tomorrow, in prep for my colonoscopy on Wednesday. Yuck! Drinking all that stuff is worse than the actual procedure. Guess I'll make some lemonade, and jello (no,Liz, I can't turn them into jello shots....LOL!). Having my Seagram's/Diet Pepsi and enjoying it...can't have it tomorrow night...sob, sob!

Wishing all you drinking buds a great Monday night!

    Happy Belated Birthday HD!!!!  :)

Gail - I came from Orange County, so I know all about the women there, too!  Very similar to Vegas!!!

So, I got my results back....  the PETscan looked good.  It was still lit up in the area where i had BC, but the onco thinks it's because I'm still swollen there from surgery.  And my brain MRI was okay too.  I didn't want to say it was clear because then everyone might think I was an airhead!  I did laugh that the doctor might see a few dead brain cells from all that wine I drank over the years!!!  LOL!!
