Beanie, wb to the lounge.  I took today off work and have been a lazy girl.  I am sorry you have had another little bout with the surgeon.  Sneaky stinkin disease for sure.  Hope you get your conjoined friend pulled soon...(JP)  I think I have had 8 of them. LOL!  Come back often.  We have a support system here that certainly is 4 stars at least.  I will keep you in my thoughts....and thanks for the BD wishes.  If you have chemo in your future....feel free to ask questions....hugs to you!  HD

Well, I was up at 4am this morning so we could get town before all the snowbirds and campers. So I am whooped!

Dee, so glad to hear its not cancer. But none the less a bummer. You can drink juice and crap at home.....here at The HTL you can what ever the hell you want! Hope mom is doing well too.

Heather, glad things are going to your liking at SK and you are having fun on top of it. I too had a nutritionist to work with.

Kathy, glad things went well with your test. I got a call from my reg doc, just see her for my female check ups. I had to call them a month after my pabst to get the results. Then they call me yesterday and say, they got results from my colonoscopy (from a year ago) and I need to call them! WTH! So I call, she wants me to have another one! I said I will call my doctor that did it, and I"ll get back with you! He said I was fine, and he didn't think it necessary!

    WB Beans!

Just seems like a sucky week. My kids just told me that one of their good friends mom, who has breast cancer, has been given two weeks to live. It went to her lungs, bone and now brain. My kids are really taking it hard because of my cancer.

So just giving all my girls here a big hug! And having one of those drinks that NM posted!

Oooppssss, so sorry Collie Flower.....WELCOME! I have a different name like that on a garden web forum........I am Two Lips!

    Happy Holidays!

Hi Lori! Glad you knew that your last yrs colonoscopy (is it HD that calls it a heinie-scope?) was ok...but how weird that your reg dr thought you needed another one! I got a kick out of you saying after your "pabst"..didn't know they served beer there...that is my kind of doctor!!! SO sorry to hear about your kids friends moms cancer...so very sad...and can understand why your kids are having a hard time of it. When I hugged my sis-in-law (went to her sons funeral today)...even though she is much older than me, you could see the toll it took on her...and she said she hoped I never have to go through that. I don't know how anyone can bury their child...must be horrendous. But also, knowing that your kids friends will be losing their mom....it just isn't fair. Thanks for the hugs for all of us, and here is a big one back to you.... ((((LORI)))).

Beanie, nice to have you back. Sorry to hear all that you have been going through though. Boy, I hated those PIA drains! That was "almost" the worst part....esp one that I had in for 5 wks. Yuck! Hope you received a very good path report today ( and that you don't have to wait all weekend to find out).

TGIF to all the working gals! Hope it will be a nice weekend, with nothing but better news for all. And lets not forget to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice....

NM, that sure looks yummy, even for morning! Think I'll grab one of those and head on over to the Brunch Buffet. I guess that would make a Champagne Brunch?

Yummmmmmm....thanks for reminding me of the brunch, Lori! Think I'll join you, and grab some of those "Holiday Cheer" drinks.......do ya think we can get Pants and Jocks to give us foot massages while we lounge by the pool???

    Cool

P.S. I would appreciate prayers for my dad....he has been very weak (unlike him), and had blood work done yesterday...we should know the results tomorrow, but of course I am VERY concerned.

Champange brunch, holiday weekend, looks like the Jocks and Pants have brought in a whole company of massage therapists to attend to the tickling of tootsies and the destiffing of stiff necks.  Time to Partay in honor of all the veteran's who have served us and our country!

wahine--sorry to hear about your dad, that must be scary as h@##.  I hope it turns out to be something minor and simple to fix.

How come everyone's just taking one glass???   I'm taking the whole pitcher of that yummy drink and heading to the pool.   Don't worry, I'll share when your glass is empty.

Hope you hear good news from your dad today, Kathy.

Looks like we will have great weather for the week end--'bout time!   May even get in a boat ride later today.  If so, I'll pack a big cooler and have a drink and toast all my lounge sisters.

Gonna cruise the buffet before I head to the pool.   See ya'll there!

Thanks for allowing me to hang around the bar and wine. Today marks the two month anniversary of finding out I have bc.

hunkydory - Thanks for your sympathies and for letting me know about your cool JP times, wow, I'm impressed, stinkin disease is right...I do have chemo comin up if we can ever get to finishing surgeries and dx's and I will appreciate eternally your support. Hope you had a good lazy day off and have a wonderful holiday weekend. Big hugs to you!

goldie - I live in a recreational beach town and it's so crowded this weekend. I made the mistake of going into town, but now I'm planning to just hide out till it's over. I'm sorry to hear about your friend's mom. I'm sorry your kids are taking it hard. I remember when I was late teens and found out my mom had bc it was so difficult. She was cured of stage 4 bc and died of something unrelated years later. My grandma also had bc in her 40's and was cured, she died when she was in her mid 80's of something unrelated. I love the "pabst" test, makes me laugh and I'm glad you don't need no stinkin colonoscopy again. Hugs to you and to your kids.

wahine - Thanks for the kind words and I don't know how you made it 5 weeks with ol JP hangin around all day and night. I'm hoping he goes home sooooooon!! Yuck is right! And yes, let us honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. I will include your dad in my prayers.

Mainer - I love your morning drink selection and raise a tall glass to you. Thanks it tastes so good and holds up gallon after gallon!

junie - like you I'm going for the pitchers instead of the glasses. Cheers!

In case you are interested, I got a prelim path report. My rt side AXLD (which was why I had to get the clingy JP thingy) shows no additional cancer in my nodes, so that makes me a 2/21gal. (I wonder if I could take those numbers to a casino???) On the left breast, both lumpectomies show extensive atypia and a few areas "bordering on DCIS." The pathologists are examining in more detail so maybe I'll have a complete report by enda next week. Looks like this is gunna be close, so I'm holding my breath and thinking about black jack, poker, and a bar full of whisky.

Thank you all for being here, you are fun and full of life, and I enjoy your friendship so much.

    Have a wonderful weekend,

    Beanie

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to Everyone!!! Laughing

I haven't exactly been MIA, I read but just don't have time to post lately, working too damn much.

Just got back from Venice (traded my Shannon) and I have to say it is definitely one city that I really want to get back to. I'd post pics but ya'll know that I'm not good at that stuff! Walked and walked and walked around the canal area (the tourist area???) with a co-worker and had a great time. I am working all next week so my only day off this week is Sunday and it's not really a day off because I'll be mowing the lawn and doing other 'home' chores. Those NOT working should have a cool beverage of their choice for me! Cheers!

ahhhhhhh, Venezia!   Jaybird, that's my favorite city in the whole world!   In fact, was telling DH just today that I'd reallllly like one more trip there!   Have been 3 times, and each trip more special and more magical--glad you enjoyed it and do hope you get to return.   Raising my glass to toast Venice!!!

    Happy Holiday, ALL !!!

Kathy, I too hope dad will be ok. At least mom is home now, and with him.

Beans! We don't "allow" anyone to hang around. Ya just show up! The more, the merrier. I also hope that we all beat this frigin disease and can die of something unrelated! We will all offer you support in what ever stage of treatment you will be in.

Junie.......leave it to you to grab a whole pitcher, instead of just a glass. I'm stickin close to you!

Jaybird, hope the weather is nice for you on your only day off. We don't have any grass to speak of out here, but I used to love mowing when I lived in MI. Get me a can beer, hop on mower and away I went. It took more than one beer tho, as it was at least 4 hours of mowing!

More playing outside, and finish getting my plants in the ground and the rest of my irrigation system in, so everything will get watered when we go away next weekend. I think we are going, just so we can have sex! LOL....haven't had any of that in ..oh I'd say 6 weeks! Thank you arimidex!

Cheers to all of those that have served and are serving our country!

Okay goldie, I'm showing up again but you can expect more wining! Yesterday with my sore little arms I tried to vacuum. Years ago my DH got a horrible, cheap thing that has gotten worse with years. Now it won't stand up on it's own, the hose is too short, it actually blows dust around so I have to go over and over the same area, and it makes my back hurt. And I'm too cheap to get a new one, so I only have myself to blame. Then I got a new mop, a Quickie deal that you're just posta pull the handle to wring out the sponge. I don't know if I've just gotten weak or what, but I couldn't wring it and so it got the floor all wet. Had to open all windows and turn on fans to dry it. Grumble, grumble. And all the while it's just hard to move my right arm. Driving has been fun too. I have a stick shift, but at least it has power steering.

Now I'm off to the store to get a new flag for Memorial Day. And I'll end on that positive note.

Happy Memorial Day! Cheers to all!

    Winey Bean

P.S. Any suggestions on a new vacuum? After re-reading my post I feel sorry for myself and might have to indulge...Wink

Beanius, I absolutely LOVE my dyson!!! Got it a couple of yrs ago, and this is the first vac I have truely enjoyed using. It picks up SO much that I like to empty the cannister after each room to see how much dust was picked up (esp good to get the fiber dust from new carpets).

Not much info on my dad yet, but THANK YOU everyone for all your concern! Right now, they think it may be an infection or inflammation, so starting him on some drugs today.

Any other gals here served in the military? My g'kids can say their grandma wore army boots...LOL. I was in a "mash" type of National Guard unit (field medical). But when I met my late DH, he was a Green Beret and a Jumpmaster of his unit, so when we married, I exited the army......(actually got an honorable discharge too)!

It is Pau Hana time....and I am SO ready for a drink!!!! Pants, please bring me a pitcher (I'm learning from junie and Lori) of my fav Seagrams/Diet Coke! Thanks luv! Joining you all around the pool...........

Bean, get an Oreck. LOVE mine, had a bagless and it was too damn heavy, the Oreck is like 8 lbs? Best investment I ever made plus they have great bags and you usually get a portable canister type vacuum thrown in. Go to a store and try one out. This is of course JMO!

Bean--best solution for a vacuum is to hire a cleaning lady who brings her own!!!  LOL--don't we all wish!!!!

I salute Kathy--that is awesome!!   Next round is on me!!!   Hope your dad perks up quick with the meds!

Lovely holiday week end so far, but clouds rolling in tonight.  We'd decided to save our boat outing until tomorrow afternoon, when all the holiday weekenders would be heading home--oooppsss, that may not have bbeen a wise decision.....we'll see.   Big huggssss to all, and bottoms up!!!!

    Happy Memorial Day, Lounge Ladies!

Lots of talk about vacuum cleaners lately, let me see what I can find for a drink of the day that will reflect this discussion. . .

Hmmm.  Not finding anything appropriate to vacuum cleaners for today.  How about this, then, in honor of all service men and women who have fought and died to assure our freedom:

    Forget Me Not

    1 oz Apple Schnapps
    1/4 oz Kirschwasser
    3/4 oz Cherry Brandy

A "Forget Me Not" drink, NM...how fitting! I don't have any of that stuff here, but will head out to the HTL and have Pants make me one (or several)! I am glad we are remembering those who sacrificed their lives for us all. And the families they left behind.

junie, Hope those mean old dark clouds just rolled on out of there! We had thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, and DH was going to finish the lawn today, but it is all wet, and the sky looks ominous. I do hope you can go boating!!! (Think I'll tag along...I miss having a boat). We're cooking out some nice steaks today, but since my crown fell out last night, I will have to be chewing on one side! AAARRGGGGGHHHHHHH......Hope my dentist can fit me in on Friday, when we return.

Can't wait to get my "finishing touches", the 3D tatts, on Wednesday!!!!! Gals, can someone ask Jocks to dig out those teeny tiny drink umbrellas, so I can shade them and sit out in the sun with you all? Over 2 yrs since my dx and bilat.....will be nice to feel like my recon is DONE!

A BIG SALUTE (Salut) to our soldiers who have died, and those still serving our country!!!

    Kathy

(would be fun if we could layer a red/white/blue drink!)

Beany, you can come and whine all you want too! We are all good at hugs, listening and lending a shoulder to lean on! As far vacuums....sorry, no suggestion here. I bought a $70 cheapy at Wal Mart, but just to do my rugs. I don't have any carpet in my house. But it is the canister type. LOL @ Kathy, It picks up SO much that I like to empty the cannister after each room to see how much dust was picked up ha ha ha, I do that too!

Junie, do hope you get to take that boat ride. One of these days, I would like to go out to Lake Powell. It is just so beautiful, from the pictures I have seen.

    Kitty....what did you find out?

I have spent all week end outside, and haven't gotten a darned thing done in house. We have a bug out there that gives a bite, worse than a mosquito. Gnats or no see ums...not sure, but I must have 20 bites on my neck, face and head. If you scratch them, they welt up to about the size of quarter!

    Here ya go K!

    Red White & Booze!

Peach, orange, and pomegranate flavors make up this layered shooter. The trick is pouring (floating) each one in order, slowly over a spoon.

    • 1/3 oz grenadine
    • 1/3 oz peach schnapps
    • 1/3 oz blue curaçao

Hmm, a Red, White and Blue----

    Red, White, and Blue Cocktail

    1 part grenadine
    1 part peach schnapps
    1 part blue curacao

Simply pour each part slowly into a shot glass in order: red, white, and blue.

    Another variation:

    * Bottom Red Layer: Chambord or Framboise (or Grenadine)
    * Middle White Layer: Half and Half
    * Top Blue Layer: Blue Curacao (or you could dye vodka or rum with blue food coloring)

You may also want to add a float of Goldschlager to get a golden gilttery firework effect.

Layer the Red White & Blue Shooter

    1. Fill a shot glass about a third of the way full of the red drink.

    2. Place a spoon, back side up, just above the top of the red liquid. Slowly pour the half-and-half over the back of the spoon. This will layer it over the red with minimal mixing.

    3. Use a clean spoon to repeat the process to layer the blue liquid over the white.

Add some Goldschlager if you wish. I (of course) would also set this drink on fire, but that's just me. Enjoy your alcoholic density column!

Lori, that is a BEAUTIFUL drink!!! And who says we can't have TWO drinks of the day? I say, the more the merrier!!!  SO we can have the "Forget Me Not" drink, and the "Red,White,& Booze" (maybe we could rename it the "Patriotic" drink, just for today?) drink....great posts Lori and NM! (I can just picture our TT's and Wenches lining both of those drinks on the bar....over and over again)! LOL....have a good day, lounge lizards!!!

OOPS....was posting just as NM posted the new patriotic shooter drink! WOW, we will have a humdinger of a day here, it looks like! Bring on those patriotic drinks...so pretty!

Wow, I came to the right party for sure!

wahine - I started looking online, thanks for the dyson recommendation! My DH is a clean freak and would love to check the canister after each room - ooooh that would be so fun for him (he currently does that with this floor dusting mop we have - tee hee). I'm hoping so much that your dad is okay and just has a little infection or something easy to treat. I wasn't in the military, but lots of family was. I'm so grateful for your service. My dad, uncle & grandpa served. Also my husband's dad, uncle, grandpa and his grandma was in the Waves. Got my new flag up and I love it and I also got a little one for my car... Hope your weather improves; it's been raining all weekend here. Also hope you get that crown fixed right away. And big WOW to be getting finishing touches, that sounds so nice to be two years out. (I'm just a newbie bean with far to go.) Congratulations!! Cheers!!!

Jaybird - so you like the Oreck? I've heard them advertised for years and heard they are light, hmmm, will check into it. Thanks so much!

Junie - LOL! I would love to get a cleaning lady to do it (and the laundry, etc. etc.)! Hope your boat outing is lotsa fun and no rain.

Mainer - I think to sit and sip the "forget me not" while the cleaning lady does the vacuuming would be perfect, and I'll be sitting by the pool getting a nice tan - ha, ha!

goldie - I think the $70 Wal Mart cheapy is what I have, or maybe my DH didn't even spring for that much. It's gotten a lot of use as DH vacuums everything a lot, floors, furniture, rugs, car interiors, window coverings, etc. etc. Anyway, thanks for listening to my lengthy wining about it! I love the Red White & Booze, that is too cool.

Cheers to all and Happy Memorial Day!

Bean, You're a hoot! You fit right in here, with all of us. We've been keeping a bar stool empty just so it would be there when you finally found the HTL! I tried gluing the crown back on, but that didn't work, so I guess it'll be ok till I can see the dentist. Let us know which vac you decide to look for, and maybe we can find a good deal for you. I know I only got the dyson cause it was an amazing deal...but SO glad I did! Good that you got your flag up....it rained here earlier, and then I forgot to put ours up.

Never seen our bar so colorful before....those are some gorgeous, and potent drinks! Makes me want to stand up and sing the Star Spangled Banner! What? I already did that??? Guess those drinks are stronger than I thought...LOL.

Beanie--your idea of sipping Forget Me Nots while the cleaning lady does her thing sounds absolutely MARVELOUS!!!!!!

Wow!  So much activity for this weekend!!!  Cheers girls!

I got home from NYC yesterday. I was pooped, but my dog was nice enough to pee on the floor.  So I had to clean up the tile. My mom took care of the dogs and cats, but didn't see the pee on the tile.  My DH decided to have a bbq today and invite a bunch of friends over.  It was fun, but I was really really pooped!  Luckily, my mom helped with the food.  This may be our last hurrah at our house before I get chemo!  Yuck!!!

The nutritionist was very helpful.  I will have to look at my notes, but she basically told me to stay hydrated (and that does not mean to drink all of the water at one time). She recommended 2 liters per day.  And she also said that ginger helps with nausea.  We picked up some ginger candies in China Town and can make tea with fresh ginger too.  She told me to walk or exercise when possible (it will be 100+ degrees when I go through chemo, so hopefully I can do some exercises in the pool instead).  She suggested lean proteins (organic, if possible), veggies and foods that are good for you.  She told me avoid eating comfort foods out of stress or boredom.  And I have a tendency to get reflux, so she said I might have to avoid foods with a lot of acid in them.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend!  :):):)

kittykat--sounds like great advice from you nutritionist, and I'm going to shamelessly steal the advice and start following some of that advice.  I can imagine you are pretty tired, and hope you can rest up today.  Puppy pee on the floor--yuck, but at least it was on tile and not on carpet!  I know, that doesn't really help. Wishing you the best with chemo.

Let's see, what could the drink of the day be today?  Is there a good drink for staying hydrated?  I've got it:

    Brevann Springwater

    2 cl Vodka
    2 cl Banana Liqueur
    5 cl 7 Up
20 cl Sweet and Sour Mix
