    Hi ladies!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July!

I love all the pics of the cats and Lori's sexy quad photo!  And I love the scenery, too.  That mountain looks beautiful!

I am still feeling icky.  The new anti-nausea med (Zofran) wasn't doing the trick, so I changed back to the Compazine.  No headaches this time.  It seems to help more.  I've been eating small meals and drinking lots of fluids. Water tastes gross, so I drink it really cold with crushed ice.  6 more rounds of this!!!  I'll call this the summer of chemo!

Beanius - good luck with your first chemo treatment!!!

Hi swanseagirl - It's so good to see you pop in here! I found this lounge a while back and it's been such fun! I do think the wonderful ladies here have saved my sanity. The drinks are abundant, none of the food or drinks have any calories, you can drink as much as you want and not get a hangover!! It is so fun. I hope you'll stay for a drink!! I'm swimming over to the swim up bar. Who wants to join me for a KIWI PINA COLADA?

    Ingredients

    • 3 parts fresh-cut pineapple
    • 1 part white rum
    • 1 part coconut milk
    • 1/4 part simple syrup
    • Kiwi slices for garnish

note: if you use canned crushed pinapple, use less. we use a fresh pineapple.

    Directions

place ingredients in blender pulse 10 - 15 times pour over ice

    PINA

I'll be driving right through Olympia tomorrow on my way for chemo #1 and I'll be thinking of you. Hope your weather is better than here in O.S.!! We did have fantastic fireworks last night!

Welcome to the bar swanesgirl.  Hope you love it here.  Quite a few here from pacific NW.  Bean...just really wanted to wish you the best tomorrow and I will certainly be there for you.  I know you will sail through this.  If you ever want to talk about anything from puke pills to pissy moods...just PM me.  There most certainly is the good, the bad, and the ugly that go along with all the chemo.  I think you have mentally hit the bad, and the ugly, and know you are very strong. Anyway...thoughts are with you tomorrow.   HD

Beanie - yummy! I see at least 3 daily servings of fruit in that drink. Good luck to you tomorrow.

Lori  - Love the video. You are so creative! just wondering if you could add the video to the header (or whatever they call the first post that starts the thread) or if JanieMarie has to do that... then it woudn't get buried. Don't think there are any compromising photos of me on this thread are there? Photos with me in them tend to disappear, like a ghost or something.

Hey girls and welcome to swany! I only plan on posting our "fun" photos. No personal ones. Well maybe a couple....like the hula one, or the ba donkey donk one. But I don't know when I will have time to add to the video. It should also help for the new girls to understand more about The HTL.

Swany, you don't need to ask to join.....you just show up! I don't believe anyone has ever been "kicked out". Am I right girls?

Beans, about the time Kitty will be feeling good, she will be passing the "ickies" on to you! And I love our "healthy" drink! Pineapple, Kiwi and Coconut Milk......how healthy can we get!

Astorm, to answer your question......JanieMarie would have to make that post, as she started the thread. I do not know her and I don' t think she has posted in a long time...at least not here for the time I have been here, which is almost 2 yrs.

Kitty, you go ahead and have all the mishaps you want! Junie has had one and I think Kathy. You two want to own up to anything???

The pictures I posted of the mountains were just from the internet and not my own camera. So I can  not take credit for them.

Kathy, I hope you got things taken care of from all the troubles with you trip. But I must say, I don't know what DL means. All I know of that is "down low". Is it "Dear Lawyer"?

    All aboard the bus...........chemo time!

NM and Kitty....you are to stay home and rest, unless you are really up to it.....altho I do see some spunk coming back in NM!

    Lots of hugs for everyone.

Yeah, Lori is right....Junie and I actually had fires the same day....and neither fire was our fault. My DH came close to burning our house down...he was grilling chicken, but came in to eat...had left the grill cover on the shelf on the grill...it caught fire...when we went out the deck was in flames, from the floor to ABOVE the railing (which I had made and installed). It was so scary, and I pictured the whole house burning up. I ran like lightning and got the hose from across the yard, and he disconnected the gas line. He had to replace some decking, and I still have not fixed the railings.Dogs were there and never even barked! I'll let junie tell her story! But that was when someone (Lori? HD?) added those super cute firemen to the HTL.

Lori, sorry.......DL is short for Delta..the abbreviation they use. We fly a lot and I tend to use that...I apologize. The finally got it straightened out...was a mess....when we got to airport for St. Thomas, they made me buy ANOTHER ticket....somehow they credited that ticket towards our Sydney trip....weird as one was purchased thru the travel agency, and one online thru DL. AND charged us almost $200 extra, in fees...so when we found out what happened with the ticket, I had to tell what happened to 3 different agents, b4 getting the one that could take care of it.

Heather, How is your mom's house coming along? I bet she can't wait till it is all ready for her to move in. My mom is getting so excited about moving here...we are praying the closing will go well, with no glitches. She wants to come here for 2 wks in Aug, right after closing, which doesn't leave her much time to get back to HI and get ready to go to Sydney. The seller is a "nervous nellie", or something...I have spent so much time on the phone, and emailing back and forth. Hard when there is no realtor involved. I didn't dare mention to my parents that he STILL had the ad in the paper...sheesh...we had signed the contract almost 2 wks ago, and he has a hefty down payment from us. Guess I won't believe it until closing really happens. And I sure don't want them to sell their HI house till we know for sure.

Dee, Loved that fireworks picture...don't be a stranger! I hope you are feeling much better. Please let us know how you are doing, and how your mom is doing.

    Chairs!

I can have TWO drains taken out today!!!  The visiting nurses don't do that, so I'm trying to get in to see my local BS--she said she'd help with stuff like that.  Anyone know of a drink that hurries up drain removing arrangements???

Swanie...you got it! Nuttin but fun. Of course we are a great support group as well, whenever one of our loungies has something going on. Did you see the video? It will give an idea of what goes on here!

NM, so glad you are going to get 2 more drains out. I think you should have a drink for each one! Bidding them farewell!

Beans, wishing you all the best today! We are all heading out your way on the bus....after we get NM's drains out, so she can join us. Per her request!

HA HA HA, Junie found this drink. So todays drink is on Junie.

    Arkansas Slammer Ingredients1 oz. Vodka
    1 oz. Wine
1/2 oz. Beer Mix and serve in a shot glass

Lori--great job on the video!   We have sure had some fun pictures created of the HTL.   Wahine, agree not to post photo of us with Hunk-but, how funny--remember me telling him we were doing a video for YouTube and he ws going to be world famous??!!!   Lori, hope you can locate and post some more of the great pics---I loved the one that had Jaybird flying in on an airplane for one of our parties....

My fire wasn't quite as dramatic as Wahine's.   Think they were both a year ago over the 4th.  We had a house full of kids/grandkids.   All the adults were out on the deck (drinking) and all the kids playing in the back yard.   I was baking chicken and my son had lifted the pan out of the oven so I could flip the chicken.   When he put the pan back in the oven, he laid the pot holders on top of the glass-top stove.  Neither of us knew that a grandson had just fixed himself a grilled cheese sandwich, so the burner was HOT!.   Luckily, DH went back into kitchen a few minutes later to refresh his drink--just in time to see the pot holders burst into flames!   He managed to toss them in the sink before any damage was done.

That Arkansas Slammer looks like my kind of drink!   Since I'm retired, I operate on the premise that it's 5 o'clock somewhere in the world--so, icing up my bucket of ML and heading out to the pool for some R&R.   Hopefully, one of you will come along and keep me company!

Welcome, Swansea.   Big hugggsssss to ALL!!!!

Tomorrow is exam day #2... that will put me at the half-way mark (assuming I pass). I'll be back at the HTL tomorrow night to celebrate and then I'm off to southern Cal to deliver a DD to her summer program and visit family for a few days.

OK, tossed back one slammer to get readty to take the drains out.

Tossed back #2 after I took out the right breast drain.

Tossed back #3 after I took out the right hip drain.

Tossed back #4 after, ah, ah, Oh--I know--after throwing the drains in the trash!

Sat there and bawled like a baby after taking the drains out.

Now that my hands have stopped shaking I'm going to take a nap!  Can one of those pinapple thingys be put in a bottle for me to suck on? ?

Okay, okay, I know everyone was on the bus, but REALLY!!! Thought I'd try a "Tom Sawyer" thing, and had several extra brushes, lots of paint, but NO ONE came to help me paint the fence. "sigh" And it is a sweltering day...thought I would pass out several times...this is only the shorter fence section on one side!!! Finally feeling normal again (is that a good thing?lol) after being inside for 30 min. Will wait a day or two before tackling the longer side. Might have to get on a helicopter and catch up with you all on the bus!!!

YAY AStorm, another reason to celebrate!!!!

NM, are you saying that YOU pulled your own drains out??? Wowsa! I might've been a bit chicken to do that....but wait you did have those strong drinks first, right? Yes, I see Pants filling up a pink bottle with the pineapple drink....just for you!

Stanzie, I hate to hear that Sean is sick again! He is so sweet, and I am so glad I got to meet him. I hope and pray that they can find out what is causing this, and it can be easily taken care of. Poor dear, tell him I said hello, and want him to be well!!! Hope his twin is enjoying camp, and be sure to let us know how Sean is doing.

Well, I am ready to board the bus because I'm feeling a bit better today!  Yeah!!!  Besides, I can always rest in between stops!

Wahine - my mom's house is coming along.  It's been framed already and should be done in 2 months.  My sister's wedding is right after the house is due to close (my last chemo treatment is the same week as my sister's wedding).  September will be a busy month for sure.  Sorry to hear about the nervous nellie seller your parents have.  Even though my mom is putting down a substantial down payment, the mortgage company keeps having conference calls to discuss her financials.  My mother in law is her real estate agent, so she's been a big help.  And our parents have become BFF's.  LOL!!!

Yes, I took my own drains out.  It's really not hard, just akward to reach the stitch in the underarm one to snip it.  Remember how they're always telling us to be sure to pin the drains up so they don't get pulled on--it's not because pulling on the drains hurts (which it does) but because the drains are so easy to pull OUT by accident!  Besides, if you are in control pulling the thing out and you feel something you can stop and wait a second before starting again.  I couldn't feel anything from either drain coming out so that wasn't an issue for me anyway.

Well N.M - you are one brave cookie! Why on earth did you have a hip drain? I must have missed something totally. My doc did my drains and they didn't hurt at all he just had me exhale during the whole thing. So glad they are out and gone though !! That is one of the worst parts.

Sean is OK. They have no idea what is wrong of course but all the big test came back negative so that is such a relief I'm fine with it all. They said it might be a virus or strep even though the quick test came back negative.

Heather - Wow, you are not kidding about being busy! Well at least you have a lot to take your mind off everything, goodness

Astorm - congrats on being 1/2 way - I just can't even imagine all those numbers... makes my head spin - oh wait that might be the drinks?

Beanie - love the kiwi in the drinks - you don't see that often.

Goldi - OK so how are the drinks clear if there is bee?. No I really didn't mean to rhyme that. I'm just so happy Sean doesn't have diabetes or kidney problems I must be delerious.

I had 2 hip drains and 2 breast drains originally--they took tissue from my belly to make the breasts--it's called DIEP and involves microsurgery.
