I don't know about glamorous Stanzie...but thank you. Thanks everyone. Kitty, it is the new me. My previous avatar was pre chemo, when my hair was really long. It's just getting to a point where I feel like I am looking like "me". I have hated my new hair, and still don't like it, it's very hard to manage cuz it's so curly and frizzy.

LadyM, DH and I have been together for 10 yrs. Just finally tied the knot! We were going to do the year before, but I was diag. with BC...so we had to put things on hold. While in Hawaii....make sure to have a "Lava Flow"...or 2 or 3!

Junie, you got your umbrella? I think Dee got it for you, or HD.

Kathy, I think you and I are alike....sometimes I just don't know how to sit still. I hope you aren't making yourself sicker by doing too much. Hope you feel better real soon. I had to laugh at your APB for Casino Girl, Caz and Jaybird......when I don't hear from my daughter for a few days, I'll call or post a message to her that I am putting out an "Amber Alert"

Kitty, sorry for vehicle trouble...especially in that heat! But glad you were able to get it fixed.

Thanks for the G&T Swansea, had a great time!

    NM....DOTD is for you.

    Screamin Greenie Weenie!

    Ingredients:

    2 oz. Midori
    2 oz. Pineapple Juice
    1 oz. Blue Curacao
    1 oz. Malibu Rum
    1/2 oz. Jagermeister

Mix into a cocktail glass on ice and hang on.

This is just a picture, and does  not represent what an actual Screaming Greenie Weenie looks like! Tongue out

I loooooove junie's umbrella....so appropriate! Ummmm strong drink Lori, maybe I should have a few and get knocked out so I will stay still! Have a sore throat this morn, and feel soooooo worn out. Trying to get our room res for OZ, but not sure where else besides Sydney they may want to go. Our relatives want to take us to the Blue Mtns for a couple of days, which should be awesome.

Kitty, Boy our DH's had similar troubles yesterday! Mine had left our truck in my parents townhouse garage...then the garage door wouldn't work, so had it sitting there for 3 wks (cause of our St. Thomas trip too) and finally got somone out to repair it. Of course the truck wouldn't start, so puts the charger on it, and goes to play r'ball yesterday. Gets there ok, needs a jump to start it to come home, and then it dies WHILE he was driving!! Yup, 100 degree heat here too, so that wasn't fun. Had to get it towed to the shop.....might be alternator....which I think (MHO) was made worse by letting it sit for so long. In retrospect, it IS funny that both our DH's had trouble with the trucks. Glad that yours was just batteries (altho they aren't cheap!), and it is running!

Melanie, Some people love the road to Hana, some hate it. It is LONG and slow going....my DH did not like it at all. But some people love the experience. When swimming, in case it isn't mentioned to you, no one is allowed to touch the turtles, and they want you to stay a safe distance away from them (turtles are protected, and are called 'honu" in Hawaiian). Sometimes there will be signs to that effect. IT is hot in summer, but the water will be nice and warm. I know you will have a great time, and nice that kitty had some good suggestions on where to eat, drink, etc. If you have never been to a black sand beach before, it really is NOT dirty, although sometimes that is the first impression! There used to be a "green sand beach" on the Big Island, which was covered with crushed olivines....we used to collect them when I was a kid. I am so glad you will get to have your nice vacation!!! You definately deserve it.

Hello all you wonderful bar flies.  I don't post often, but enjoy your happy conversations.

Wahine and I both lived in Hawaiii and have enjoyed talking about it.  We hope to take you on an Hawaiian Wiki Wiki Tour soon.  You will love it.

Lady Madonna-  Good for you, taking an Hawaiian vacation.  Though my family lives on Kauai, Maui was always my other favorite island. I haven't been there in 30 years.  I'm sure it has changed tremendously.  There was an historic whaler's inn in Lahaina called the Pioneer Inn.  It's very funky and old.  We used to stay there, but you can just have dinner there and it is fun, right on the harbor.  I don't know if they still do it, but they used to rent hang glider rides right at the harbor.  They  fitted a hanglider with pontoons, with side-by side harnesses.  They tow it frm the back of a water ski boat.  When you get to the full height of the line (maybe 150-200 feet), the guy flying it releases the line and you glide over the ocean, looking at dolphins, whales, mountains.  Absolutely one of the most memorable things I have EVER done.  It should be on everyone's bucket list.  If you want a fun, zany, light book to read, try "Stilllife with Woodpecker" by Tom Robbins.  It's situated at the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina.  Eat some Sunrise Papayas and Macademia nut pancakes for me!

Goldie--thanks for the drink!  I gave the case manager an earful this am about Anthem's rep in the area for being impossible to get through to, don't know if it will help or not, but at least I feel better about saying something. And I LOVE the umbrella!

Designermom--the hangliding sounds like a wonderful thing to do, I hope I get a chance to do it someday!

Generally feeling better today, no more tantrums or crying jags, I hope.  The weather is a little better here, not quite so humid but still going to get into the 90's again today.  I'm hoping the weather guesser's are right that  we'll get some rain and thunderstorms.  We need the rain, and I love watching thunderstorms.

Hello to everyone I haven't responded to individually, I am reading and praying for everyone, but the ability to concentrate is still a bit lacking.

Lori--thanks for finding my umbrella!!  I LOVE that umbrella--it makes such the perfect statement!!!

My only trip to Hawaii was a couple years ago and we went to Maui.  So beautiful!!   We stayed at Napili.  No one in our group wanted to do the Hana drive so I missed out on that.   I enjoyed Lahaina--had the very best Bloody Marys and Eggs Benedict there one morning and went to a fantastic luau one evening.  We drove up Haleakala--but no way even considered riding the bikes back down!!!    We were there in January and it "misted" every day.   I actually got tired of taking pictures of fantastic rainbows!  j/k   You will have a wonderful trip!!!   DH would love to go back but the flight is so long, I'd almost rather go back to Europe.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Friday.   Think we'll head out in a few minutes to our local bar for a few brewskis/Keno and bring home some sandwiches for supper.   Then, I'll head out to the pool later and finish off the evening with a bucket of MLs--see you all there later.  Hugggssss to all!!   NM--you sound like you're starting to perk up a bit.   Think melt downs come with the territory--I still have them at times!!!   See you all poolside, say--sixish???   Be there or be square (how conry is THAT!!)

    Hi Drinkin' Buds~

The APB worked!!  I haven't checked in on the boards in forever, and I just logged on and was reading back a page and read about the APB for me, CAZ and Jaybird!!

There's NO TELLING what all has gone on here since I last visited!  I hope you all have been keeping Pants and Jocks busy, busy, busy creating all sorts of fun and delicious summer drinks. And massages, foot rubs, and whatever else...  I assume they are still around, or have you replaced them? I hope they didn't get laid off in this suck-ass economy LOL

Lori, love the new pic!  OMG look at all that hair!!

We have had sooooo much rain!  Junie - what the hell is going on?  Since when does it rain EVER in July, much less every f'in day!  I had a white-knucled drive home from work yesterday!  I could feel my car pushing the water but there was nowhere to go!  But my car sits very low to the ground.  Was VERY glad to pull into my driveway.  Then I had to have a glass or two (or three) of wine to calm my nervesLaughing

So - HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!   I am meeting some girls after work for Happy Hour at a nice wine bar, but will try and meet you girls out by the pool later :-)

    Cheers,

    Donna

YAY....so glad I sent out the APB for you Donna, and it WORKED!!!! When you have time, you can click on the link Lori made, of a video on youtube with pics of our HTL. And then you'll see how we added 3 "wenches" to help out our 2 Tattie Tenders! Lots of additions since you last pulled up a barstool here. VERY glad to know you are okay, and also made it home safely in the heavy rain yesterday.......good idea to have a few glasses of wine!

Well, been busy today...I am still feeling weak and sick, so trying to organize stuff INSIDE today! Just came on here and saw Donna's post,so HAD to respond!!!! Hope the others will check in soon, also.

Hey CG, happy to 'see' you again! Cool

LOL @ Lori  - "hijacked?" Well, kind of - I've been working way too much, had to work the entire holiday weekend (6 days in a row!), been laying low and trying to cope with being gone from my baby girl. Just busy, nothing else. Working this weekend, too, going to Kyiv where I haven't been in about a year. A lovely city. Saw Istanbul last weekend but didn't really go to town. Maybe next time. Sometimes I just need to be in my room and catch up on my sleep!

Well, chairs to all for a lovely (and dry?) weekend!

Hey there, CG--Donna--long time, no see!  Girl, wish you'd keep that friggin' rain over your way!   I can handle rain--but this torrential downpour crap has got to stop!   Give me a shout next time you're over Eureka way--we'll sit on the deck and watch it rain and get drunk!!!

Jaybrid--don't work too much!   As always, travel safe!!   Check in when you can--we enjoy hearing where you've been and where you're headed next.   I know it isn't all fun and that your work is harder than most of us could imagine!l

I missed sixish--we had a fun afternoon out.  Didn't kick keno butt, but it wasn't a total wipe out, so have a few $ to play with next time.   Grabbing my bucket now and heading to the pool--at least it's not raining here at the HTL!!!   Happy weekend to ALL !!

I just read a thread in the section :Tests Treatments Side Effects - the thread is Website stealing our posts. It is sort of confusing but someone who was on this site created a website and copies some of the posts from BC.org. It is some kind of site that sells viagra and perhaps porno? Sorry I didn't read it all too carefully but it sort of dawned on me with some of our posts this would be a thread they might go to.There are some warnings about a Trojan Horse if you go into the site so I didn't venture to look but you all might want to at least take a look at the thread about all this. Really strange. Apparently the moderators do know about this and some women are writing in as well.  So just wanted to pass this on especially since I know some of you all only go to this thread.

Thanks Stanzie for alterting us...is it the "warriorsagainstcancer"? I notice they just joined July 7, and every post they made that day was deleted. That sucks that someone would take our posts and put it on another website!!!! I still feel crappy, but now am depressed....so worried about the house purchase....like it will fall through. Don't exactly trust the seller as he STILL has the for sale ad in the paper every day....sheesh! It just has not felt right since signing the contract and giving the down payment. Too many loopholes in his contract, plus I just realized we didn't date it. Can't wait to call the closing atty monday and see what they think. And I need to get my mom a tix as she can't wait to start moving stuff....just hope and pray it all goes well. Anyone have a super stiff drink I can take that will put me out till morning???? Sorry for ranting........guess I'm overdue for a meltdown too.

Donna you BIOTCH.....why do you stay away so long! So good to see you tho! Sure wish you would stop by more often.

Jaybird, glad you weren't hijacked, unless it were by some big handsome hunk of a man!

Kathy, I sure hope that gut feeling of yours about mom and dads house is totally off! And of course you can have meltdown.

LadyM, be sure and get Lava Flow (drink) in Hawaii....soooooo yummy!

I don't think chemo brain has ever left me, I still have to write things down or I will forget.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

You have all spoiled me...without the DOTD I am at a loss....so just drinking OJ...lol. But, of course I can always partake of the mimosa fountain!!!

I never had a "Lava Flow"...think that got started after I moved away. Sounds good, potent, and pretty!!! In my early 20's I dated guys on vaca in HI....nice....no strings! Well, one guy from Canada took me out every night, and we would drink BLUE HAWAII's till the nightclub in Waikiki would close...they were really good....but when I looked in the mirror my mouth would be solid blue....so funny!!! Of course he thought we were going to quit our jobs and backpack around Europe....until I had to write him the "dear John" letter when he returned home. Those were the days!!

CAZ, oh CAZ, where are you???? Hope our craziness hasn't driven you away! I think we might take the bus up to your cabin and camp out there till you show up...j/k.

I ditto Lori on wishing everyone a great weekend. Still feeling crappy. so need to stay in again and not overdo. NOT FUN!!!!! But I enjoy being with you all here. Maybe I will saunter over to the casino and get money out of our free ATM and have some fun! Junie, wanna join me? Anyone else? Stanzie, hope your son returned from camp with good experiences to share with you, and that your other son is doing much better!

Lori - your hair is getting really long.  I think it looks great and glam. :)  I love that drink - looks yummy!!!

wahine - that's so crazy about our DH's both having truck problems.  Mine returned some batteries we had on our RV to Costco and bought 2 new RV batteries that were good, but not as expensive as the ones we had.  He got back enough $ to cover the cost of 4 batteries.  Amazing, huh???  I never heard of the green sand beach.  How fun!  Our friends that live on Maui took us to the Red Sand Beach - SCARY!!!  I had a feeling that there were nude people there because the husband was insistent on going.  I just laid on my stomach and buried my face in my towel.  We only stayed about an hour and my DH and I asked if we could leave.  Luckily, our friends kept their clothes on (so did we obviously)!  LOL!!!

My blood counts were low yesterday, so it's a little R&R for me this weekend!  I ought to have Jocks and Pants pamper me with a massage!!!

OMG - chemo brain clicked on the wrong button and there went my whole disertation on Maui!  ARGH!!!!!!!  I'm not re-writing the whole thing!!

Melanie - I forgot to mention doing the zip lining.  That was the most fun thing we did (well maybe a close 2nd to the helicopter).  The boys would love it.  They have ATV's there you can ride, too.  It's kind of close to Haleakala.  There is so much to do there.  I went there as a kid, then 3 times since we've been married (once I won a trip through work - free trip - that's the best).

Wahine, the OJ better have some vodka in it! We had some of the Blue Hawaii's as well, and just as yummy. But you have to get the ones that made like slushies. Our last nite in Hawaii, we stayed at Embassy Suites (go figure) and one of the free drinks they offered there was the Blue Hawaii. But it was just mixed, not put in a blender with ice. So not quite as good! Hope you are feeling better today.

Jaybird, trying to figure out that sh*t eatin grin!

Kitty, never heard of green or red sand beaches, but the black sand beach that we went to was beautiful. Helicopter ride was awesome....we did 2 of those! Couldn't do the zip line, but that sure looked awesome. Darrell was too big! I was kind of glad, as I would have been scared to death...but they sure looked fun! Losing a post is the worst. I type mine in word first, but mostly because my connection comes and goes in the house.

All this talk of Hawaii, I think we should have Lava Flows today! We've had them before, but who says we can only a drink once???

    Ingredients:

    • 1 oz. light rum
    • 1 oz. Malibu® coconut rum
    • 2 oz. fresh or frozen strawberries
    • 1 small banana
    • 2 oz. unsweetened pineapple juice

    2 oz. coconut cream

    Preparation:

Blend the 2 rums and the strawberries in a blender to form a smooth paste. Pour this mixture into a tall (Collins or Hurricane) glass. Rinse the blender. Blend the banana, the coconut cream, and the pineapple juice in blender with crushed ice until smooth. Pour this mixture into the glass with the rums very slowly and watch as the strawberry mixture oozes its way to the top along the sides of the glass creating the flowing lava effect. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and paper umbrella.

So grab a drink, sit back and relax and watch the video. I have added more to it. I have made it somewhat private. You can search you tube and find it. You can only see it if you have the link. So if you want it for the future, you must save the link somewhere on your computer.

Yummo....that drink looks fantastic Lori! I even asked Pants to make mine lo-cal and he said he did (lol..don't I wish)! Amazing work on the video!!!! Mucho gracias! I love the doggie pooper-scooper and all the sock monkeys. For any newcomers, HunkyD LOVES sock monkeys, so we have adopted them as a sorta mascot, and try to feature them a lot. A perfect video of our perfect utopia! Thanks for doing all that work. I think the Blue Hawaii's I had those many moons ago were prob just over ice...can imagine how much better they would be as a blended drink. When you order a "pina colada" with vodka instead of rum, it is called a "ChiChi" which was always hard for us to order without a giggle, as that was the local slang word for tatas! I guess they still make those, I haven't ordered a tropical drink there in years. Have the free bar & grill at my parents..LOL.

HAPPY SUNDAY GALS....hope it is a good day for everyone! After having some of the Lava Flow drinks, I plan to partake of the amazing buffet the wenches have made for us. Then maybe just lounge on a float in the pool. HEY....no splashing!!!!

While they were gone I actually bought tickets to take two of my kids to do this in North Ga. I'm not great with heights so have I totally lost my mind?

Love the drink! I'd like mine in a hammock by the sea please. A friend's daughter is off in the peace corp and for vacation they went to Fiji and oh my gosh, talk about beautiful pictures!!!!!

GOLDIE--the video is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! It's wonderful! You are sooooo talented!    Thank you!

I'm with you--any good drink can be repeated whenever one of us decides to repeat it!  The directions and pic are great.  Someday I may try making one of them.

kittykat--sorry you lost your post, it's very upsetting to work on something, especially something detailed and having it disappear.

wahine--what an amazing Dear John letter story!  I had some Blue Hawaiis one time, and I think my mouth turned blue, too, but they were sooooo good!  I've got the recipe for that one somewhere, I'll have to dig it out someday.

beanie--if chemo brain is anything like anesthesia brain, then I can imagine the fog you're in.  Enjoy the fam, drop in when you can!

Well, I'm feeling better all the time, and getting more bored and more frustrated with the physical restrictions.  I'm hoping that some of the restrictions will start being loosened up a bit next week since it will be 3 weeks since surgery.   But, I can do computer work, so I'm going to start working on fall semester's lectures starting tomorrow.  Going to try to get into some kind of routine including some work and and some walking and see if I can get feeling less like a lump in the recliner.  But for right now, I've been out to the garden visiting while a freind weeded the tomatos and her husband mowed the lawn, so I'm bushed and going to veg for a while.

Beanius - Cytoxan pills???  Interesting.  So, how long do you have chemo symptoms?

For whatever reason, I felt nauseus today.  Not like I'm going to get sick, but just a yucky feeling.  I hope chemo #3 goes okay this Wednesday.  Hopefully I'll feel okay tomorrow and Tuesday.  I'm trying to eat as healthy as possible.  My blood counts were low this time (not sure if I mentioned that - chemo brain).  I'm going to bed soon!

CHAIRS GIRLS!!!  We re-arranged our bar this evening.  It looks awesome and more open.  We saved corks and foils to our wine bottles.  We've lived in this house for 6 years and counted 150 wine bottle foils.  Woo Hoo!!!  I guess we are officially winos!!!  Well, not me right now with this chemo thang!  And... someone drank the vodka out of our minature Grey Goose bottles and refilled them with water.  I'm guessing it's our friend's naughty teenagers.  Hmmm....
