Hunky--yep, back to work this week, had a great time, very happy to be back to work, and soooo ready for the 4 day weekend!  Techincally I only have a 3 day weekend but I work form home tomorrow and that's almost as good as not working, in my book. And you are much braver than I am--NO ONE gets more than one stab at me for an IV!!!!

Well, Earl's been downgraded to a Category 3, will likely be Category 2 or 1 by the time it gets near me.  Still enough wind to cause power outages, but since it's not sub zero temperature weather it will mostly be an inconvenience more than anything else.  If it weren't still Tourist Season, and gas didn't cost so much I'd head down to the coast to see the surf.  But, I've seen waves before, and I do not want to be anywhere near idiotic tourists who will not pay attention to "beach closed" signs and get washed out to sea.  A 7 year old was washed off the rocks and killed last year during an offshore storm when the family climbed over a "closed due to dangerous surf" gate.

Well, I'm going to collect my supply of chocolate hurricanes and head off to bed, or at least to the air conditioned bedroom.  88 degrees in the living room and even the multiple fans aren't being terribly helpful.

...yaaay!!!!  HD has surfaced and still has her sense of humor!   Heal fast--I'll drink for you until you're able to let the Percotini Fountain  go back in storage--although it looks like it should be a permanent fixture here with all the upcoming events!

I've been keeping an eye on "Earl's" progress most of the day--have friends and relatives along the coast that I'm worried about plus our NM........and, damn, just discovered I've got my own little weather drama going on!    Tornados have popped up all around!   We just came in from grabbing deck cushions and hauling stuff inside.   Local TV channels going nuts with their reports of this funnel cloud and that rotation and they just scare the bejesus out of a person with their "hysteria".    Have flashlights/candles ready.   Pancho is really antsy--pacing back and forth and panting.

I'd had the insulated blinds closed to keep out the sun/heat all day but have them raised now to watch the storm come in.   Such bright lightning and the thunder is that low, mean growling sound that echoes through the hills.    We just had friends from out of state call to see if we were okay!!!!    LOL--will be a cold day in hell that I wish for rain again!!!!!!

Think I'll just hide out by the pool 'til this passes.   I'd planned to do some cyber shopping and banking tonight but that can sure wait until tomorrow!   Jocks!   couple of dog beers, please...outta here....lightning is doing the fizzle crap so it's really close!!!!

    HUGGGSSSSS!

I am drinking some good merlot now, but will switch over to microbrew for the camping/cycling trip with friends to the San Juan Islands this weekend.  Just cooooooooool in the Northwest, as in "I'd better track down my winter socks".  Not complaining, as did I mention I was drinking red wine???

Hoping that Earl takes the filthy weather with him when he finally goes out to sea.

I love watching storms come in and have that view over the Puget Sound from my apartment.  Right now, just the most glorious sunset.

Need to cook that steak that I was planning on having with my merlot.......

    Go Claire!

There is life after Breast Cancer.  I still have radiation to go, but managed to bike and hike on my good days during chemo.  I'm enduring my final round right now.  I can't wait to go to Zumba on a regular schedule and get out into the fresh air like I used to.  I plan on drinking a glass of wine or two when this all over too.

well I slept most of the day so I missed Earl being downgraded as well as my DD's scheduling issues with school... they want her to go sit in freshman classes while they figure it all out so that they get paid. IMO, someone didn't do their job and why should they get paid. Too bad I'm incapacitated or maybe it's a good thing... I've still got email.

DH went to dermo today to look at his self-inflicted tumor on his arm from too many years of over-exposing himself to the sun. He was being such a sh!t to me the day before surgery I told him I hoped he never had cancer because I will not be there for him. Now I feel bad but he blows off my outbursts just like he blows off my need for support and bc in general. No short term or long term memory on this topic. Fascinating!

NM - I'm glad that Earl has been downgraded.  Thank goodness!!!  I hope you gals on the East Coast don't get washed away!  I've always lived on the West Coast, so I've never dealt with a hurricane.  I have dealt with plenty of earthquakes though (lived 30 years in California).

Lori - I'm doing better on Taxol than the AC.  4 down, 8 more to go!  living the chemo funk right now.  I'm coming off my steroids, but still cannot sleep.  I'm heading to the medicine cabinet right now to take some Murilax (yuck) and Ativan.  Hopefully I will sleep (and have a BM).  LOL!!!

I'm heading to the wig store tomorrow and will most likely get another blonde wig.  I was contemplating buying one from the wig store, online or through another lady in town.  Depends on how much she will charge me (minus what my insurance will pay me).  I want this blonde wig that has a little more curl than my straight one I have now.  I'm also thinking of getting a duplicate of mine and keeping it long.  I don't like how the wig lady cut it (looks too blunt).  I think I'm a better hairdresser than her!  LOL!!  I got a really dark brunette wig, but haven't revealed it yet to anyone.  I've been playing with my makeup (thank goodness I got a dark pencil to use on my brows from the Feel Good seminar)!

Tomorrow is Friday and it's Labor Day weekend!!!  Woo Hoo!!!

HD, glad you are at least feeling well enough to post and I agree as well.....you still have your sense of humor! Always make me laugh.

Astorm hope you are feeling better and Stanzie, I think you are going in today? So many girls going through something, I'm sure glad this bus knows where to go and when! I am going to start that rule for the needles! One try. Mine are hard to hit as well, and when you have one arm they can poke, I don't want to end up looking a "crackhead whore" either. That was too funny, I think I might use that one sometime. I am just not that quick witted!

What a Dumas I am! It just dawned on me what you meant by tanning salon HD (radiation) that what zoomed right over my head. Where's my zoom net when I need it?

NM, glad you are back to work and enjoying it! Looks like Earl won't be too bad for you, I see he is at a 2 now.

Junie, I hope you had enough dog beers to git you thru that storm and it didn't scare Pancho and there were NO tornados.

Claire, have fun camping. We prefer camping at the Embassy!

DoggyLover, YES there is life after...you will get there.

Awwww Astorm, I'm sorry you don't get the kind of support you would like from hubby. I just don't think most men know how to be sympathetic, but boy if they get a little sniffle, ya'd think the world was gonna come to an end with all their drama! But I must admit, I wouldn't be giving any sympathy back!

Kitty, sorry about the lack of sleep from the steroids. I can only relate from my lack of sleep due to hot flashes. I hope they wear off fast. Also glad that it's easy on you and you are 1/3 of the way there! Woooo Hoooooo!

We MUST have a party for Wahine's mum! Celebrating 90 - WOW! Happy Birthday Mom! Glad you got there safe Kathy, have fun!

How about some: Tea & Sympathy Cocktail

    1. Grand Marnier - 1 oz.
    2. Tea - fill

    Cocktail Mixing Instructions:

    cup / hot

    Serve in a Unknown Glass

AStorm - I am sorry about your DH. I don't understand why men do things like that. I think ignoring you or blowing off outbursts is worse than just fighting it out. My wonderful lovely friend and babysitter to my kids noticed that anytime I'm under lots of stress and things are going terribly for me, that is when the guy I've been seeing chooses to throw a tantrum. AStorm - hope your surgery goes well and hope your DH becomes a lot nicer and starts pampering you. Do you think it is fear that is making him act out. Glad you have your furry ones!

My latest stress if when they were pressure washing my house I heard water running in rapidly and guess where it showed up? Yep my brand new kitchen ceiling!

I go in for Nips in about a little over an hour and I'm getting nervous as they do make a difference especially if they are not done correctly! My sisters took some pictures before my MX and I went back and cropped a picture of my real ones .... don't know if it will help but couldn't hurt. My PS didn't take before pictures. I think my biggest worry is that they won't point correctly or are too big. Any of you that are done, did you have these concerns? He said it would be 4 days with a waterproof bandage then 4 more days of a regular bandage with the center cut out and that is it.

Kathy, glad you arrived safely and actually packed at some point! Happy 90th to your Mom - how wonderful is that!

Kitty,  fun you have a brunette wig waiting.... I think your positive and fun attitude through all this is just so amazing. I think you need to pose and send pictures of the differnt wigs and makeup so we can all see too. If we can have a virtual bar then why not a vitual fashion show too! Now back to the brunette wig -once you surprise your hubby sounds like that oncologist office needs to have a show too!

So glad Earl is loosing steam - no one need that also, hope the tornados also go away. When I was little a terrible tornado came through and we were spared but it hit next door and went right down the street taking everything - terrifying. We didn't know what on earth is was so we were looking out the windows!

HD - hope you are feeling better.

My goodness Claire and Lisa you all are quite the active ones - I'm afraid makes me tired to even think about exercising even though I did manage to get to my trainer twice this week so hopefully soon it will start to pay off and I'll get some energy.

I think I'm supposed to be drinking tea... like the "unknown glass" suggestion!

My DD is taking me to the doc this afternoon for a re-wrap. Hope I get to peek. Right now my chest looks huge but I'm hoping there is a lot of bandage and some swelling. Probably too early to divorce the Jackson-Pratt brothers. I've been keeping my distance from the pets until I get the drains out and I really miss them. The cats are allowed on the bed but not on the lap and the wiener dog is only allowed to lick my fingers. Corgi is perfectly happy just being near the bed and chatting with me.

Kathy - hope you have a great time in OZ!

Hope Earl loses his mojo soon! It would be nice to have calmer weather for the Labor Day weekend. Looks like the west coast is losing the heat wave already. whew!

Hunkydory - Crack whore! LOL That is exactly what my arm looked like last time (after an "experienced" nurse jabbed me until I was black and blue). I recently had my blood drawn by a student. He asked me if I was okay with him being a student. I asked him if he was going to hurt me. He was noncommittal on that point but I gave him a nickname, "Gentle Ben," and that worked. Easiest draw I've had yet.

Looks like Earl isn't going to be much of a problem for me after all.  I was so hoping for a  day or so wihtout power as an excuse not to have to do a bunch of computer work, but I'm probably better off getting done and out of the way anyway.  Sigh.  Glad no one else on the boards here has been terribly bothered by Mr. Blowhard.

Sadie's wading pool was pretty dirty (again) so I emptied it out, cleaned it and refilled it.  It wasn't even half way full when Sadied decided to jump in with all 4 feet and start chasing the bubbles from the hose!  She looked totally rediculous spining around and biting at the bubbles!  Then she decided to just flop down in the pool and roll over on her back.  Her ENTIRE head was underwater!  I have got to take her to the beach pretty soon, I bet she'll love swimming.

Love the Tea and Synpathy cocktail, I'll take a pitcher full!

Happy Labor Day weekend to all the U.S. Ladies! And just plain old Happy Weekend to everyone else! I am off Monday so will par-tay then since I'm working this weekend.

And, Rain Rain Go Away is my mantra! Lots of rain in Chicago yesterday, too much really. Rain here in NY, the efferts of Earl I think. I am off to Dublin tonight (never been there if you can believe that!) and rain expected there too. Oh well. I think Summer is officially over, cool temps expected for Chicago all weekend. I guess it's time to clean up the vegetable garden and get ready for Winter. I now get to trade high electric bills for high gas bills. There's always a reason to drink!

    Cheers!

lord--did we rock and roll last night--think we got more wind/rain than Earl dumped on No. Carolina!   Much wind damage/flooding north of us--we just had to clean up lots of leaves, little branches today.   Then, today was one of those absolutely perfect days that reminds me why we retired here......hopefully, our heat wave has ended and we can get out and enjoy the tail end of this summer.

Erin go Bragh!   Safe travels, Jaybird!   The Emerald Isle is high on my "wanna visit" list!   Not sure I've got the energy for another transatlantic trip, but if so, that's where we're going!   Kathy, soak up OZ and tell me all about your trip--no way I could be confined in an airplane for that long!   Happy BD to your mom--bring her to the HTL and we'll show her what a Par Tay is all about!!!!

Kitty--glad that you are having fun with your wig journey!   When I think back to my chemo days, most of what I remember are fun memories of my baldness/wig fiascos!  It won't be long until you just might end up missing a few of them!!!!

GAWD!!   Blood draws!!!  HD--you better patent that "crack whore" comment, cause I'm gonna use it too!!!   Pre-BC, had glorious veins--everyone loved me--first time, everytime, never a problem.   Now, almost need to be medicated!   Just the friggin' hassle trying to tell some tech that you can't use my right arm no matter how nice that vein looks!   Chemo ruined the veins in my "good" arm (didn't have a port) and it is a nightmare now for any kind of bloodwork!  grrrrr!

Jocks is giving me the shutupyourbeersready look!   Grabbing my dog beer and heading out to the pool!   Bet I'll find a couple you gals sitting by the Percotini Fountain!!!

We're heading off to visit friends over the week-end; then home to ramp up the B&B for what I hope is THE last visit of the season!!   Big hugggsssss to ALL--have a great long week-end!!!!

Morning, Hunky!  Hope you found the percotini fountain.  Should we assign one of the tenders to you for the duration, just to make sure you are well medicated and comfortable?

All my preparations worked--Earl is a bust as far as weather problems go.  Raining steadily, occasionally hard, no worse than a typical thunderstorm, just lasting longer. A good breeze, can't really call it a wind, with enough gusts to make the trees move and be interesting to watch.  Some power oatages scattered around the state, and I expect I'll lose power for a while sometime today, but again, nothing worse than a typical thunderstorm.  Made for a good practice run of the hurricane and blizzard preparations, I suppose, but a little disappointing all the same.  At least it's cooler now!

    DOTD:  The Disappointed Lady

    3/4 oz Brandy
    3/4 oz Coffee Liqueur

    1 dash Grenadine

I think "The Disappointed Lady" better describes some of my Match.com dates!  Worst one was with a pompous windbag who infuriated me to the point that I didn't change into my flats walking home (he had too much to drink for me to feel safe with him driving, and was only a mile walk).  Then, of course I found a pothole, went over and broke my toe!!!

Getting ready for my weekend camping/cycling trip.  Hope we will still be speaking 48 hours from now, but at least there will be plenty of wine and microbrew to smooth things over.  Also hoping the rain stays away as suspect it can get a bit tight in a two-person tent.  Will be a true test of my friend Amanda's and my friendship.

    Hi all,

So I went in for my minor surgery yesterday, my lovely cousin took me. So before I went I copied a picture of my Real aerola and nips. He did look at it. But as far as color there were only three choices and he said Cherry Berry was what I needed. It sort of looked blush colored. So he set up the tatoo machine as he said he does the tatoo color first. Then he stuck me with Novacain and lots of it. Some places were back to being a bit sensitive and he said that was really good for just 6 mos. out. So the tattoo machine has 6 needles going really fast sort of painting the area. As soon as he started the machine started giving him fits. The cord was bad in that unless he held it one certain way the power shut off. So they messed with it for a while and then it finally got going. Because of the machine acting up he went ahead and did both sides with tatoo first. Then the starts in on the nips and cutting. That didn't seem to take too long but the sewing took a while. He then got a call where he needed to delived some paper to the OR so it wouldn't hold up another doctor. So at that point the nurse came up and I asked what they looked like. She went and go a mirror but said not to tell. It looked OK, I think. Then the Doc came back and finished up. He then showed me what they looked like. I asked about the nips being sort of squared off and he said that was just the stitches. He said they will shrink which is why they might seem big. I actually didn't think they looked that big. The main part was the areola seemed sort of odd. He said it was torn up from the tatoo's which makes sense and made me feel better.

I was sort of dizzy and lightheaded from the Novacaine which was odd - hadn't had that before. Anyway, I think it went OK. I keep the bandage on for 4 days then put on new bandages every day till it heals which will be about a week. Then I don't go back till December. Just sort of an odd.

Claire - sorry about the awful date.

HD, AStorm and Kitty - hope you are feeling better and getting rest - HD hope for some regular hours soon.

Junie - glad you were spared the worst of the storm.

Morning! I am head over heels in love with my new foobs! Got a peek yesterday at the post-op visit and they are gorgeous! I wasn't even disappointed that I'd be spending another week with the Jackson-Pratt brothers. And it hurts when I breathe. Actually I feel like crap! ... but they are beautiful and once I get these bandages off I'm never wearing clothes again!!!  See you at the fountain HD.

HD – Again, I’m so glad to hear your surgery went well and you’re feeling lucky enough for some gambling! But where did your avatar go??? And did your scratch tiki win? I think I missed out on some drinks cause I just weeble wobbled into bed and fell asleep. Glad to hear you get some time off work, so hope we get more HD LMAO humor if you have time. Putting out – ha ha ha! Glad it sounds like JP won’t be hangin out too long, yucko, yeah, make him leave fast. I have Hughes Net in the mountains and even though we are only here occasionally, if you go over your allotted amount in a 24 hour period they cut you off for 24 hours. Unfortunately DH listened to a conference call online that put us over. Just another stupid problem. So did you win? How much? How much??

Stanzie – So how’s it going? You said you still not sure what to think, but what are you thinking?

     Hi Kittycat! Isn’t chemo fun???

Hi NM – Great idea for a Champagne Celebration, I’m already like a tipsy drunken fool this can only help. Two days in a row I tripped and fell down (nothing hurt or broken). So now my avatar is a goldilocks weeble (remember those?). I’m sorry I’ve missed so much, but I got so sleepy and weebly. In 9 days I’m half way through. I’m sure I mentioned that earlier, but I don’t remember much these days except I’m real excited to be almost half way through and champagne sounds fabulous!!! Thank you! I hope school is going swimmingly. Speaking of swimmingly, I think I’ll bobble my weeble over to the pool for more champs and some caviar, oh yum!!! Cheeeeeeerss!

G'day Loungettes! Just popping in to say hi...having a super time here in OZ....relatives drove us around all day to the beaches, in the mountains, and just gorgeous views looking down on the scenery. Had not seen this area before and it is so fantastic. Had some Aussie beer tonight...really good...next I have an Aussie Moscato Asti to try....yummmmmmm. HD, AStorm, Stanzie, hope you are all healing well. Stanzie, your results will change a lot...my tatts were too dark at first, and then they lightened a lot, so hopefully you will be delighted with them in a few days!

Couldn't catch up on all the posts....just have a few minutes of wifi. Thanks for the birthday wishes for my mom....we had a nice 90th b'day dinner for her, right near the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and with the Opera House in view.

    ChEARS Big Ears and BARMEN!!!
