Goldie - Oh, my!!! I second what MrsNice said! LMAO!!

Stanzie - Family stuff is so difficult, I feel for you and know it all too well. I just try to set limits with them to keep my sanity. Also I drink more when I'm with family than at any other time (except when I found out I had bc).

HD - Hope work's going okay, have been thinking of you and how hard you work and it must have been nice to have some time off. Have a great week!

I'm officially half way thru chemo - hurray! I made an apt with a Lymphedema Therapist at the coast to help me prevent any problems when I start rads. My BS said I would most likely get lymphedema with rads. Does that sound right? So far I have no problem and I've been measuring my arms.

Let's keep Kathy's party going all night long...

"Well my friends the time has come
To raise the roof and have some fun
Throw away the work to be done
Let the music play on ...

We're going to Parti', Karamu', Fiesta, forever
    Come on and sing along

All night long (all night), All night (all night)
All night long (all night), All night (all night)
All night long (all night), All night (all night)
All night long (all night), Ooh yeah (all night)..."

    ~Lionel Richey

    ...Cheers!

Stanzie - I would just say I'm not up to it. Nothing good is going to happen there and who needs to harbor regret and resentment. Sorry about the movie but a house full of men doesn't sound too bad... aren't you going to share?

Lori - is that the DOTD?

I'm supposed to be studying so I'll go do that.. hope you all have a great day!

arrrggghhhhh--spitting nails here!   Backing up and grabbing that bottle of Absolut (may go back for that hunk later, but right now, need a drink more!!!)   DH (and just now, the D does NOT stand for dear...) left early today for a Sam's Club run (this is a trip that takes us a half day to drive, shop, return home...).   He just called-------he's spent the time looking at new vehicles, and has found one that WE really need, complete with car payment which we haven't had for years!   I've been fighting this new car syndrome for a long time am just so tired of the hassle.   I told him that  he'd better figure out the monthly payment thing, but I'm not giving up any of the little perks that keep me happy!!!    We'll see what happens......

Got that bottle and heading for the pool.   Jocks promises to keep an eye on me and if I'm still moving when the bottle is empty, will bring me a dog beer!   Toasting to today's  speed bumps--may the road be smoother tomorrow for us all!!!!

Yaayy--Kitty and Beans plowing thru chemo--won't be long 'til we have a big partay to celebrate the end of that!!   Beans--don't think I've ever heard that rads would most likely cause LE...????  Guess anything is possible, but be sure that the LE specialist also explains all the other things to watch for--no heavy lifting; needle pricks; blood pressure, cuts, scratches, bug bites, stings, hangnails, and on and on.   I've had no LE problems with my rads side other than some aches if I use that arm too much.   I do tend to favor it and try to watch what I'm doing with it.   Good luck!!!

big HUGGGSSSSSS to all.....mixing that Absolut with some Bloody Mary mix and starting to mellow out!!!!

Aw, Junie....but just think of that nice new car smell.  LMAO!  Sorry, couldn't resist.  Hope your H doesn't go crazy!  Let us know what ya ended up with.  Bean, you got that tape off?  I just saw your post a few pages ago about adding water to bleach.  You are flippin' losing it!  I am glad you are half way done with chemo.  It is really working on your brain cells....LOL!  Just kidding, you know I am!  I was told LE can come along anytime.  Days or years later. It is good to be aware of it in any event.  I worked a shorter day today and it was better.  Have PS appt. tomorrow so it will be short day also. I about choked this morning also when I saw that Abslut photo.  Glad I wasn't at work. Now, I must saunter down to the laundry.  It is waiting for me!  Gnight!  HD

Wow, there is even a recipe for Absolut Hunk. I was thinking of Hunk+Vodka, but that looks good too... besides I think Junie needs the bottle more.

Junie - I trained my DH early... anytime there is a new car, it is mine and he gets my old car even though he makes the car payment. It's for his own good -- slows him down.

oh yeah, laundry. Mine's is fermentin...

    Hey ladies!

Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth but I'm trying to get back into orbit and come in for a safe landing. I will fill you in on all the details a bit at a time if I can recollect it all. Good to see you are all still here having great time at the HTL :) Love and miss you all. Talk soon D~

AStorm - From the posts I have read not only do have you trained your DH well, I think he must be absolutly nuts about you which of course if no wonder...... But that is pretty good training to always get the new car! You definately have the Pow-er!

Beanie - I sure hope that doesn't mean lymphodema. I thought it came from having lots of lymph nodes removed but then I really don't know. HD - it can come anytime ?- well that is just rude.

Did not go up to see my sister and very happy with the decision! Can't wait for Charleston - now that will be fun fun fun! My friend's daughter who will turn 16 at Thanksgiving is bringing a friend and she told her Mom she was most excited about having me come with them even more than her best friend cause she thinks I'm fun or was that funny! Either way, I'm flattered a 16 year old would actually want to be around me. gives me hope with my screaming 13 and 12 year olds!

I love spring and fall just with the mosquitoes didn't like the weather as well. wonder if those drinks turn the nasty little flying bugs away - will have to pow wow with Jocks!

So glad you all are half-way through - talk about time to party! You know at some point we will actually have to have a non-virtual party!

    Dee! hope all is well...

Stanzie - friends are the family you choose! I spent about 3 hours last night talking my long, lost nephew off a ledge by phone and Internet. He is almost 30 and I hardly know him because his mom (my sister) and I aren't close and she moved all over the country, marrying various men for the past 30 years. Most of the time she wasn't speaking to me. One by one I have reached out to each one of her 7 kids over the past few years, as I was able to locate them, and they are all broken. Too bad you can't choose your family - maybe my sister would have made more of an effort as a parent if someone had to vote for her.

AStorm - I have prayed and prayed over the years for my nine neices and nephews, still do...now I have 6 great neices and nephews and a new neice in the oven and a new great nephew in the oven. I don't know how parents do it, I was never brave enough. My sibs kids have given me my gray hair. I think it's wonderful to see yours one by one reaching out...I'm sorry they are broken...some of mine are too...I just pray for them anyway and when they contact me I'm nice to them.

    Great to see DEE!

Stanzie - Glad you're opting for fun for you!!!

Junie, HD - thanks for the LIMP-FOE-DEEEEMA info...I don't get a lot of things (tee hee) so I hope I don't GET THAT! Stanzie is right, that would be rude!!

P.S. Do you think Kathy knows we partied all night long for her BD?

Just learned that I am vitamin D deficient. WTF! I was dx over a year ago and have a fam hist of bc and osteo and no one up to my 3rd PS thought they should check on this? Guess I'll be drinkin a lot of White Russians for the calcium too:

    • White Russian
    • 2 oz vodka
    • 1 oz Kahlua
    • light cream
    • Pour vodka and Kahlua over ice in old-fashioned glass. Fill with cream and serve.

P.P.S. I forgot to tell you the really important thing is that while I'm out of pill and infusion prison the doctor says I can have a little wine or dog beer. But you know, I'm all about dilute crystal light...RIGHT!! I'm having a dog beer right away! (Or maybe I'll be bad and have a White Russian, that looks too good to pass up!)

AStorm - I didn't get checkt for vit D, but my onc told me to take 600 mg calcium 2x per day and 1000 iu vit D 2 x per day. I got these calcium tablets that about choked me to swallow, then tried these gag me with a pitchfork chewable ones that were supposed to be cherry flavored -- Oh my, they were awful, especially on chemo when everything tastes weird! Finally someone recommended the gel caps, which are still huge, but go down okay and don't have any flavor. That's working real well with dog beer, merlot and White Russians. Good luck!

Vit D is a big one! Apparently one of the main causes of MS also. I have read that because kids are so slathered in suntan lotion they are not getting the vit D they should either. I try and not have my kids do the sunscreen unless they will be out in major sun like soccer games or at the beach. I had a foot problem growing up and never was able to get outside till I was over 8 years old which is why they think I got MS. So yes everyone should check on Vit levels but remember you can have too much and it is toxic so you do need them checked by lab tests.

Astorm - wow, total admiration for you and trying to help your family members. Hope your nephew will be alright - I would think you are a good person for him to talk to normally now with what you have been through - an even better person for him to talk to.

Beanius - So what happens when you are Really excited! I'm seeing a jumping bean gone wild!

With my sisters, I honestly don't think I will ever understand them nor them me. So when I'm with them I try hard to remember just to ask questions about their lives and comment positively and then try and keep my mouth closed. They rarely ask me anything personal so it helps.

Anyone have any fun advice for Charleston? As to the movie saga - I decided to call the location scout and see if my house was vetoed or not. He is a really nice guy and we ended up talking for a while. He said No, my house isn't out and the director will choose closer to the shoot time. He just wanted to give him more choices..... I miss working in theatre so this would be a fun outlet.

Hey Lady Loungettes, just heading down the interstate and thought I would check in. Glad I did! WELCOME BACK DEE! So good to see you again. But hey, you don't have to explain anything if you don't want to. We are just glad to have you back. But that's up to you, you know we will all listen and offer a shoulder if needed.

Junie, hope you get or don't get what you want! HD, glad you able to take it easy and spend a little more time at home to heal. Astorm, that must have been terrifying talking with your nephew, OMG.....glad it worked out and I hope the best for him. Stanzie, glad you decided to do what you thought best about your trip. Now you can focus on the upcoming one. Yummy drinks there NM, I'm liking that hunk more and more! Beans, out of prison for 13 days and no tape.....YIPPPPEEEEEE for Jumpin Beans!

    Hi Ladies,

I'm slowly making my way back to some semblance of normality but am still taking narcotic pain killers so have periods where I can't see quite right. :)

Went to the PS today and I'm healing well, but the nipple is leaning a little - he says that will correct itself as it heals. I'm to put antibiotic ointment on it 2x a day until it heals...it's really weird because it has fishline sticking out of it at all angles! The bruises are turning that nasty yellow colour so I guess they're healing well, too. I get the tattoo in 6 weeks.

I found out recently that I have osteoporosis...#*#$&^%#& chemo! I had quite the fit over that, I can tell you. Will this #*&$#* disease ever stop? Started taking a calcium, vit D, vit K supplement and will be talking with my onco at length about it when I see him in 2 weeks for my 3 month check. Also will be talking to him about Arimidex. Really not happy with it. I've gained 20 lbs in 6 months on it and I hardly eat anything because my stomach doesn't process food quickly - I can't imagine what it would be like if I was eating normally! The kicker is that I got bc because of the Lynch Syndrome and I read that Arimidex can contribute to other cancers. I really need to talk to him about whether it's the right drug for me.

So many doctors, so little time!

I'm gearing up for a birthday celebration. I turn 48 on Friday and plan on celebrating all weekend! Hope we can have a blow out party here!

I'm glad to see so many of you are doing well even with the various lumps and bumps that life is giving you! Welcome back Dee, great to see you again.

Off to nap, or cry or something. Need to see straight again so I can start doing some creative work!

    ciao for niao,

    Connie

WB Dee!  You only have about 500 or so posts to catch up on....LOL!  I just got home from PS office.  I am doing well but am still on restrictions.  Less hours at work is still on the list.  Drive carefully on the road Lori.  No posting while driving!  Jumping Beans and Dog beers.  Megawdamightytightywhities!   I see a wild party or something ahead of us.  AStorm, I don't know what my Vit. D level is.  I guess I never have asked, and or my onc has never seen fit to tell me.  I will ask next time.  I only take 500IU in my multi vitamin.  Stanzie...I know nothing about Charleston either.  Wasn't it a dance or something?  LOL! Hope you get your movie location answer soon.  I am tired.  I can't remember everything.  I am going to start using word so I can go back.  Gnafternoon!  HD

I haven't had a white russian in ages, and used to drink them all the time!  I want a great big one tonight, it was a long and hard day at the "office" and I have a list of crises to work on tomorrow.  Nothing bc related, which is actually making the whole thing kind of funny.  No less irritating, but funny.  Pants, my boy, WHERE IS MY PITCHER OF WHITE RUSSIAN???????  Oh, there you are, you wonderful man.  No, I don't need a glass I drink directly from the pitcher tonight.  A sraw?  Why, yes that would be a wonderful idea!  Holy Cow, where did you find a straw as big as my thumb??? And with holes on the sides as well so the ice doesn't block or even slow down my intake????? Ladies, Pants is definately a keeper!

Connie - what kind of drugs can they give you for osteoporosis?  Reason I ask is that we have it in our family and now that I'm on chemo, it could make matters worse.  Then...  I have to still get a hysterectomy/oopherectomy after radiation.  My dad had osteoporosis so bad that he shrunk about 5 inches in 2 years before he passed away.  My mom has it a little bit, too.  She's got that little hump on her back.  Mom's pretty healthy at 67, though - knock on wood!

    Dee - welcome back!!!!  :)

Darn Kitty! More surgery after rads. Are you doing that instead of tamoxifen? I've wondered if I should have the oop/hys too since ovarian and uterine cancer are also in my fam hx. Also if doing that I could avoid tamoxifen???

Connie - Oh boy! another party tomorrow!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! (early)

Wahine I'm so sorry...happy belated birthday!!!!

kitty and beanius - as far as I know Vit D is the thing for osteo. I was on tamoxifen and then had a total hysterectomy and they switched me over to arimidex. So yes, it's likely that you can avoid tamoxifen but just as likely that they'll put you on something else. Only your onco knows for sure! ;)

My onco talked me out of oop but since I'm firing him I'll see what the next one says. Knowing the percotini fountain is ready for us gives me some courage.

    The PercotiniTM by jbuntain

    The PercotiniTM
    By Jordan Buntain

Much like making absinthe, place a spoon over your martini shaker with one Percocet in the scoop. Drizzle chilled Old Tom gin over pill until dissolved. Place second Percocet in spoon and drizzle quality vermouth over the second one until also fully dissolved. Shake well. Pour into martini glass while giggling like a school girl. Finally, take two olives, remove red pimentos, and replace with Advils. Garnish and sip with delight as you delete everything from your calendar for the next three days.
