wahine - love the bird photos.  My cats love to watch birdies and "chat" through the window!  :)

Lori - Mark is originally from the midwest, so he knows all about White Castle burgers!  He loves them, too!!

Did anyone watch that Stand up to Cancer show last night? It was kind of choppy and crazy to watch, like they were trying to fit too much in an hour.  I thought it was my Friday night crabbiness & chemo brain, but my mom and DH agreed it was all over the place.  It was interesting to see what they're doing with clinical trials and research.

I watched some of the Stand Up to Cancer show; and we recorded it so I'll watch all of it at some point.  I guess it was a bit all over the place, but showing the variety of people and situations that cancer effects was interesting.  Good music too.  BUT - the most encouraging part was how the docs were talking about ending the competition to be first in line with the new treatments, and are now working together to beat this disease.  I hope that's really true, because competitive research does no one any good except the doc/researcher who is trying to keep their job.  I'm going to keep an eye on them and see how it's going.

I didn't see the cancer show. I get angry about competition around research like this and other diseases. I do hope the docs will work together to find a cure. I have no doubts that in the future, people will look back on how barbaric the treatment of BC used to be. So many women and men before us have suffered so much to advance the body of research that has lead to the much advanced treatments we get today. I pray with all my heart for a cure and that no other men or women have to go through this torture.

Seems there are some disbelievers about the teapot and cup picture.  You let me know Miss Bean if you need an easier one.  LOL!  I am done with my work for the day and am headed for poolside.  I didn't watch the cancer show last night either cause I didn't want to sob in front of my husband and he didn't want to sob in front of me.  So, we watched a movie and ordered pizza.  See you at the fire pit....HD

Well, I'm in a pickle Hunkydory...if I tell you I saw the tea pot and Elvis you won't believe me...if I tell you I didn't see them then I need a simpler puzzle...hmmm, what to do, what to do...I think heading for the pool for dog beer and pizza sounds the best.

    red dog

    pizza

Oh boy, it's a Pizza Party!! I'm there and so is Elvis and cousin Eddie (teapot or no teapot)!

    Cheers!!

Ooo, I NEED a slice of gooey pizza! It's on the "no" list of my post-op intructions... along with Chinese food, fast food, and wine. Since I'm having a lovely glass of Burgundy, I should probably just drool over the pizza! I wrote a long post last night and then lost it. I was too tired to try again... and feeling sorry for myself because someone asked me if I was doing my hair different, and obviously this was not a compliment. I can't sytle my hair because I have a lot of hair and I'm not supposed to use my arms that much. And I am wearing this huge ace bandage packed with many layers of gauze which you can't see, so I just look like a frumpy-busted, tired woman with bad hair. whaa Cry

Went back to work yesterday. It was almost an 11-hour day including the drive and I was really sore and tired. I didn't plan to watch the cancer telethon either as it is very upsetting to me to hear how many lives have been affected. DH had it on and he was getting all upset about celebrities with cancer. I had to turn it off! We lost his sister to ovarian cancer 3 years ago and his father just finished chemo before my dx and DH was never so visibly moved. I told him that when celebrities start getting cancer, it's time to send a check!

Stanzie - hope things are better with the SO. I think it's hard for men to do/say the right things under most circumstances, but especially with bc.

hunkydory - I'll bring the champagne!

Heather - what do the furbabies think of the wigs? Our wiener-dog is afraid of my new pillow w/arms.

lori - thanks for the beautiful cocktail yesterday! yum!

well, can't remember what all I (didn't) post last night... but it's really good to hang out with you all even when my fingers can't manage to talk for me.

Quick pop in--Ditto to Beans' post!  Beans, thanks for your summary to everyone.  I got caught up in a flash!

Goldie--how on earth do you find the most perfect videos to illustrate my "stories"???    Bless your heart, girl!!!!  That video was spot on!!!

The B&B is having a rolicking good week end!   Will be sorry to see this company go home tomorrow--have laughed so hard--my stomach hurts!!!   Last night we went to a concert....is anyone old enough to remember the Lovin Spoonfuls?????   (had to look them up on the internet to recall their songs--had several that I remembered and liked from way back when.......so, was looking forward to the evening.)   We called ahead to ask about what "beverages" would be available.  (The concert was held in an old converted theater in town--late 1800's Victorian period building.   Very nice.....)  Anyways, were told that water, beer, wine would be available.  Cooool!    But,the guys like their scotch, so they took along flasks in their pockets....welllll, we get there and find out that you were only allowed to drink in the lobby--nothing but water allowed inside the auditorium.   Luckily, I was well fortified on dog beers, so I was fine.    The guys bought water and asked for plastic cups in the lobby and we took our seats.   The guys managed to fix their drinks and we all sat there happy (and pretty well toasted, waiting for the concert to begin).    Just before the concert started, there was a bit of commotion behind us....seems like some dastardly devil had dared sneak into the auditorium with a BEER!   All of a sudden, one of the usherettes approached DH (sitting on the aisle) and loudly asked--Sir, are YOU drinking a beer?   And DH didn't miss a beat--had his hand wrapped around his cup and held it up and said, no....I held up my two half empty bottles of water...she apologized and moved on.    That sent me into a giggle spasm!!!   The concert was LAME!  (like in awwwwwful!!)   Their 1st song was great--downhill from there.   After the 4th song, I rummanged in my purse for my lighter.  DH whispered to me that I could NOT smoke......and I whispered back--don't you remember back in the 60's when everyone would hold their lighters up and wave them around.......and, that's when we left!!!!   I know, I know--you had to be there........

after a horrendous T-storm in the middle of the night, we had a gorgeous day.   Had a great boat ride this afternoon.   Looking forward to joining you all poolside tomorrow afternoon!!!

ALL--have a Super Sunday--think it grandparent's day (???)  so any in that category, have an extra special day!!!  Big huggssss to ALL!!!!!     BARMEN!!!

Hey Benius, thanks for the ask re liver pain......seems to have settled for now.....thank goodness....nasty.

The thread has been real busy.....thats what I get for going away for a couple of days.  Went to a little place on the coast called Wallaroo.  Ate good fresh fish and chips and had a small glass of red wine.  The first for ages and ages, it really tasted good.  Just thought I'd throw that in.  Have fun girls!!

    Good Sunday Morning, Loungettes!

I'm going to be a bad girl and play hookey from church again this week.  Actually, I can't find out if the service has moved back to it's usual time like it was supposed to after Labor Day or is still on early morning summer time.

Got half the garden weeded yesterday, found a big tomato almost ready to pick and a whole bunch more that are still green!  And here I thought I wasn't going to get much of anything from the tomatoes this year.  I see BLT's in my future!  Gave Sadie a thorough bath Friday, nose to tail and toes.  She wasn't impressed but put up with it.  Yesterday she rolled around in her wading pool and then, immediately, rolled around in the dirt!  I guess she didn't like smelling of lavender, although I thought she smelled very good!  Such is life with a furbaby.  My cousin in Vegas sent me a video and some pics of her dogs in the local pools--Doggy Paddle and Swim day, something they do the last day the pools are open for the season out there.

I am soo looking forward to Sunday brunch/buffet today.  I love a good, big breakfast!

Let's, see, what would be a good DOTD?  How about The Breakfast Drink?

    1 cup Vodka
    1 cup Peach Schnapps
    1/2 cup Raspberry Liqueur
    1 gal Orange Juice
    3 bottles Collins Mix

Sooo much to comment on, I don't know where to start......or remember what everyone said Guess I can only go by what is on this page!

Heather, we are going to TN next month, flying into Nashville and there is a White Castles about 5 miles from the airport. ALWAYS our first stop and Darrell gets a 30 pack. 5 for me, 25 for him and I am designated driver! Then he gets some every morning or afternoon for snack. He makes sure he gets his fill for the year!

MrsN, hope you had fun at the football games!

Beans, you always write so much! I don't know where to begin with you! But glad you are able to escape to the mountains and sunshine. Rarely is it cloudy here. But coming from Michigan I know all about gray, gloomy, rainy days.....3 months at a time. No Thank You! As for the Arimidex....I just deal with it and keep telling myself it's a small price to pay for life! But I'm really gonna be pissed if in 3 years when I'm done and the weight doesn't come off, and the hot flashes don't settle down some! .....and sorry if this is TMI.....but sure hoping to get horny! LOL!!!

Stanzie, I hope you have a wunnerful time in the mountains with your kiddos.

Junie, sorry the concert was a bust....but sounds like you guys made the best of it and had your own fun. But I wouldn't expect anything but that from you!

HD, that pizza shore looks good! And I have had those Jager Bombs! Will you be back to work full time? Please take it easy.

Chrissy, I forgot about your liver pain. Please forgive! Glad you are feeling better and that wine tasted really really good!

Astorm, no pizza? WTF! How come? No wine, but Burgundy is ok? You should have said to the person that asked about your hair...."yes, do you like it"! Hang in there, things will get better. Just remember "how beautiful". You will be able to show off in no time.

NM, that coctail looks really yummy. I want one for each hand. Pants dear....could you help me fill my plate for breakfast please?

(oh...I did not watch the cancer show. Didn't even know about it.)

Lori  - I'm from Michigan too, but move to CA when I was young. We lived in St. Joseph. I remember snow in the winter and mosquitos in the spring as it melted, then really hot summers but quite nice at the shore (Lake M). I will be beautiful soon, but I doubt I'll be "showing off" to the guy who made the comment about my hair! then again, who knows...

I think I'm ready for a pitcher of those Breakfast Drinks! Sounds good with the granola I made last night. I'm wanting to start cooking again but I have to have an assistant to reach for things and move pots so it has been easier for DD to just do the cooking. She has lots of homework, though and has straight-A's so far so I don't want to impose too much.

DH wants to take me to lunch today (says it is in lieu of sex or a nature walk which are both on the "no" list for now). Sounds good to me!

Astorm.....why not all three???  You can manage some sort of "it" with a bit of creativity.

Oooops.  Sorry about being a hog.  I want it all.

Ended up celebrating my friend Nadine's 40th with some good red wine and the meal she made me when we celebrated in NY three weeks ago.  The best I could think of being on the other coast.

I may back off a bit on celebrating tonight as have fasting blood work tomorrow AM.  Annual physical.  Hoping nothing else is added to the list.  I will finally find out the skinny in one week how I fared from my last year of treatment.

(Visit to the dentist showed that gum tissue was healthier!!!!)

Need a visit to the swim up bar.  Can I make it a double???

Latest "wrinkle" is the new computer virus out there that disables your anti-virus software.  So far I have needed to:

    • Figure out how to start in Safe Mode and then do System Restore.
    • Turn on/update two antivirus programs: McAfee and Windows Defender.
    • Scan with each.

Hope that's it for a while.  Think I got there.  WHEW!!!!

Claire - they're always doubles here!

I'm going to find Beanie and help her remove that tape safely. I still have red marks from where they taped my drains.

Dreary day here on the west coast. The kind of afternoon that calls for a double Breakfast Drink and a nap by the pool... that's me with the Kindle on my face.

OOH I think we all probably look and think about tape differently now. Not just for packages.... Well it is late you all have been busy chatting and laughing as normal. As for the mountains.... this was supposed to be a nice get away? What was I thinking??? Total stress, kids fought non-stop, special son complained loudly everytime we were in public and I was so tense I could have popped. Beds were hard as a rock with no curtains so first light streaming sunshine! My sister expected me to pay for everything and go to the grocery store - just way too tired and I'm supposed to go back for Tues and Wed I guess so I can continue to take her out and do things for her.... why do I get myself in these situations? Just tired. Will go back and read all later but sounds like basically everyone is good!

That pizza looks good. A beer sounds good with it, too.  Unfortunately, I can't really drink alcohol while I'm on chemo.  I had a little wine spritzer last weekend and it didn't taste good.  Oh well, my liver is getting enough exercise.  Oh well, I can virtual drinks with you gals!!!  :)

I was partying so much, I forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday Kathy! Sounds like you had an awesome day!

Beans - WHO DID THAT TO YOU? I WANT NAMES!

Stanzie - I'm so sorry your trip wasn't what you were hoping for, and if you go back, I hope it will be better. Why does your sister expect you to pay for everything?

I don't have much time for posting, need to get my butt into work and pack. We are taking off again! Leaving for Laughlin tomorrow afternoon. Going to Bakersfield on Thursday to visit one of our suppliers, then back to Laughlin until Sunday. Free rooms 'til Sat. nite and that nite is only like $33.00. Gonna have me some duck farts and I know the cappuccino fairy will coming too!

    Vodka anyone?

    ChEARS to Kathy!

Well, had to be careful scrolling through the last pictures.... LoL still have all the painters here and heavens what would they think? HD - now I know how much trouble I had trying to put a picture of Liesl on and I know you are fabulous with pictures but now writing on the pictures - you absolutely stun me.

Kathy, sounds amazing - what a lovely birthday! I love getting the foods I really want to eat. Is it just me of does anyone else go to a resturant and order something and it isn't really what you want?

I'm thinking of not going back even though I do feel guilty. My sisters are not known for being anything other that pretty selfish. They have always expected me to do their bidding as it were. When this one came up to "take care of my" after my mx first I was surprised she would come then spent two weeks before stocking up on her favorite foods and drink and cooking and freezing things. She wouldn't drive so had to find friends to take us to the hospital and dr. apts. so it was just different. I know I should be more grateful that he even wanted to come but it was hard and it is stressful with my sisters. Won't even go into the other one. They actually do mean well, it just ends up hard.

Well, doesn't look like the movie thing will pan out. I just saw another distrubution of flyers in the neighborhood looking for that second location. The main house they will film in is very different from my house so that might be part of it. Who know but shoot I was really looking forward to that - was even going to take my kids out of school for it.

It is so pretty here today. Not too hot but sunny and wonderful! Painters are finishing up and then I'll be done!!!!! Can't even imagine not having tons of workmen in the house - well, uless they looked like certain pictures......

Kathy, Happy Birthday.  I know you are having a grand time so I don't need to wish that for you.  When are you coming home?  I am easing back into work.  Hard to believe that the cooler weather is right around the corner too. I am with Bean, not quite ready for the cold.  Stanzie, I would bag the remainder of your trip.  It is not worth the hard feelings.  I can't tell you how to get past the guilt.  I am a pro at guilt trips. Lori, you sure have been on the go this summer.  Guess that means your business is booming, and with this economy, that is great.  Well, guess it is time to get ready for work.
