LOL Chrissy....it isn't the recipe I need, its the skill to make it correctly (so hard to get it crusty on the outside and chewy inside)!!! Thanks for the offer though. Maybe you can make some for one of our parties here at HTL, so the gals will know what we are talking about!

The crusty and chewy in part is the recipe and the mixing of,  the other part is the temperature of the oven.  By the way, the pic says it all...lol

NM, Thanks for the grreat champagne rum punch! I think I will make sure Pants keeps the champagne fountain full, for the entire day. Will find the largest glass I can find (or pitcher) and then toddle over to the scrumptious buffet the wenches made for us! Salut! Oh, and Pavlova was created and named for the ballerina Anna Pavlova....it is such a nice, light base (baked meringue) with fresh fruit and cream on top.....totally amazing taste.

Still have to take care of the darn floor probs (hope we can make phone calls tomorrow), and now have a new prob....we replaced both heat pumps (central a/c, heat units) a few months ago, and have had trouble with the upstairs one....a/c guy never gave us a receipt for the thousands spent....and now he is in the hospital...so had to shut it off, and it is HOT upstairs....dilemna for sure! Hope the warranty is in effect w/out receipt....

Champagne Punch for all....and wishes for a nice Sunday by the pool at the HTL!!!Cool

Welcome home wahine!!! Glad you had a good time and that even though your bags took a little longer vacation they made it home safely!

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes. I've made it around the sun one more time safely and happily!

I start school tomorrow...getting a little nervous - my classes start at 8:00 am and I haven't made myself get up and going that early for ages! I hope I can stay awake through classes!! I'm really looking forward to it, though.

Wandering over to the hot tub, grabbing whoever is free for a massage.

Many thanks to Chrissy for the Pavlova recipe! When I get a chance to try making it, I will let you all try it here....that is if I can get it to be half-way decent! Might have to be a real Aussie to make a good one....however my grandfather (dad's side) is from Sydney, so does that count?

And THANK YOU HunkyD for the sooooooo cute birthday card you sent...we just got our mail delivered (tons of mail)....that was so thoughtful of you!!!! Love the sound....LOL.

Wink Toasting all of you here, with that fantabulous champagne punch!!!

Welcom back Kathy. Thanks for the punch, NM.

Connie - But to school-- how exciting! What are you studying? Don't worry about waking up early enough... you probably won't sleep!

Think I'll find a lounge chair and crash. Made an apple pie this morning and it took all my energy.

    You guys don't get it.....

    Pavlova and champagne!!!!

Obviously, too many percotinis.  I haven't made a pavlova in a number of years, but one of my fave desserts.  I do this at the height of strawberry season, so use fresh, local berries.

I needed something stronger than wine tonight as was beyond sore from today's ride.  Lots of hills and two bouts of sidewise rain.  Did the 60+ miles though.

So added some vodka to the Hypnotiq mix.  And yes, I used the Mayo Clinic water bottle to mix Laughing

Stanzie/Beanius - I was supposed to get a oopherectomy/hysterectomy in May (and then I was dx with bc again).  I have an ovarian cyst that's 4.3 cm and hasn't gone away.  My OBGYN was going to remove it, but since I'm BRCA1+, she wanted to remove everything.  I had a consult with a gyn onco that agreed.  With the BRCA1 gene, I have a 60% chance of getting ovarian cancer (which is harder to detect than bc).  Anyway, the cyst is still there.  I have to wait until after rads to have the surgery (so, probably early 2011).

    Hello Drinkin' Buddies!!

I took a little "vacay" from the boards for a few days to let myself just *be* and not think about cancer every 30 seconds.  It was good.  I've enjoyed feeling good the last 10 days, and have done some "normal" stuff, running errands, visiting, etc.

My 2nd chemo is this Wednesday 9/22, so I'm gettin' ready.

Enjoying my chardonnay for the next couple nights while I can.  Blood draw on Tuesday afternoon, so I'll "detox" before then!

Hope everyone is doing well and has a great week ahead!

Happy Birthday Kathy and Connie!!  Cheers!  Here's some champagne, rum punch and whatever Claire can mix in her mayo mixer!  :)

I forgot to mention that since I'm triple negative, Tamoxifen doesn't do me any good.

Anyway, I hope you gals had a great weekend!  Chairs!

Good morning to my Breast Friends! I am home! Haven't read anything yet, as I don't have time. So I will try and catch up tonight or in the morning. No doubt I will have to read and do my responding in Word, and then paste it!

Anyways we had a great time! One of the casino's was holding a free Black Jack Tourney. First place 5000. You played at a table with 2100 in chips, that they give you. Highest winner, after nine hands goes on to semi finals. Well I won at our table. Next round though was agains 120 other people, same amount of chips and highest 5 went on. Not highest at each table. Which I was again! But many many others were way higher than me. But it was fun. I also hit for 4000 on a poker machine. I hit a Royal Flush!

Our wireless gizzy didn't work in Laughlin, and of course they don't have free wi-fi. Not sure if we have a DOTD, but I want one!

    See you all later!

Kitty!!!  I am so sorry - my gosh you have just been through so much and have more to go, my heart just breaks for you. But I just so admire your positive attitude and strength and sounds like you have an amazing support group starting with your husband and immediate family! I'll have to PM later..

Dee - lovely weinderful picture - Know AStorm  and I in particular love all dashcund pictures!

Goldi - Wow! that is so fabulous and I can only imagine how much fun you all had. After my Grandfather's funeral my Dad wanted to send my cousin ,who had taken care of my grandfather for weeks and weeks and was worn out , out for some fun. So he sent us tot he Casio's in Atlantic City. I had never been to a casino so I just watched but it was amazing! So glad you are the lucky Weiner!

We are in Charleston on the beach - it is lovely but my friend's daughter work up today with 100.8 temp aches and pains and just threw up so they are off to a doc and all plans are obviously on hold. Poor thing. I did get to take a walk on the beach and play in the ocean yesterday though! I had told my friend about the numbness and that if my top fell down I'd probably not notice. So when we went out at high tide and the waves were pretty rough she was nervous for me especially when this group of college guys were looking at me like I was nuts. She said they couldn't get past the breaking waves but I was so determined and just dove under and kept going. She thinks they were thinking I was daring. I think they were thinking look at that nutty old lady we will probably have to rescue! I tried riding one wave in but I will admit I did get tumbles a lot and it held me under at little too long for my comfort but I wasn't going to admit that here, of course!

Hopefully her daughter will feel better and we can get in more fun things like shopping, riding bikes, more beach time and hopefully going to check out College of Charleston for the girls.

Hope everyone is having a weinerful evening and feeling as well as can be expected.  Special hugs to MrsNice with #2 chemo coming up.  Hope all goes ok.  I know that's when my chemo forced me into a new hairstyle.  NM, glad you are doing OK at work.  I read somewhere it takes a body a year for some to get through an autologous surgery.  Kitty, hope your are doing well and where is Beanius?  Glad you are back with a bag full of money Lori, and that you are happy busy!  Dee, so nice to see your post first thing in the morning.  Love that!  Claire, for shit sakes...I get tired driving 60 miles....LOL!  You go girl!  Who's butt is back to school?  Oh ya!  Connie!  Hope your first day was OK.  Did you get your #2 pencils?  Hi AStorm.  Hope you are recovering well, I would have a piece of that apple pie!  Yum.....my favorite.  Never had the pav.  Chrissy, I am sure you can make it to perfection.  Shhhhhh....let Kathy sleep!  She has to be sleeping by now.  Junie, I know you are by the pool....be there after a bit!  I think Jaybird is do for a pop in...HD

All you loungies working, exercising, learning during surgeries/treatments--don't wear yourselves out!!  In retrospect, wish I'd taken more time off and done less during my tx.

Hunky found me in the pool and we've just been floating around and reeeeelaxing!   Just in case no one posts a morning DOTD, I'm having Jocks leave a couple buckets of dog beers on the bar!   LOL!!!!     I will confess that I've been playing around with posting pics--no luck!   Have some very good instructions to follow, but am wondering if we have some hi-faluting security that won't allow it?   I'll keep trying....but, if I am ever successful, y'all gonna be real sorry!!!!

    big HUGGSSS to ALL

cheers to big ears, chairs, dog beers, and a Terrific Tuesday.....BARMEN!!!!

I did have a wienerful day... thanks for the cute wiener pic, Dee. Had lunch with an old friend today  who has moved back to the community. Hadn't seen her in many years and she now has a chihuahua about the size of my mini-wiener. They were really funny together -- even before we opened the Pinot Noir.

Got my sutures out this morning - ouch! I've been stapled, taped, glued, and sewn. Hope that's the end of it for awhile. Anyway no pool time for me today.

My apple pie was not as delicious as I remembered. As I fell asleep last night I realized that I was 1/2 cup short on the butter in the crust. Think I'll just go for one of those Night Caps.

    Recipe for Pavlova

    Ingredients

4 egg whites at room temperature;  1 rounded desertspoon of cornflour (fine ground);  1 teaspoon white vinegar;  1 1/2 cups castor sugar ( fine but not powder); 1 teaspoon vanilla; good pinch of salt.

    Method

Place egg whites and salt into a large bowl and beat with electric mixer until stiff and forms peaks when the beaters are lifted.  While the beaters are moving on a medium speed, gradually add the sugar and beat for approx 15 - 20 mins or until the mix is no longer grainy.  Add the vanilla, vinegar and cornflour by sprinkling over the top and mix until combined (not long).

Invert a round cake pan and cover base with sheets of aluminium foil and roll the sides to form a gully.  Place the pavlova mix on top of this and spread to the edges only.  Bake in oven set at 250 degrees for approx. 1 1/2 hours or until firm and lightly browned.  Remove from oven and allow to cool then invert onto a serving platter fill with cream and fruit.  Serve

Thought some of you girls might like to try what Wahine is raving about.

    Love to all. chrissy

Oh forgot to mention,  cornflour is flour made from corn and ground almost as fine as talc and castor sugar is the same as your granulated sugar.

Cornflower is called "corn starch" here.

I use the Delia Smith recipe which is just egg whites and suger, and you leave in the oven overnight.

    You are right about delish.

I owe my friend Amanda a birthday cake.  Is this the one????

    Serve with good champagne.

Ok, here I go. Replying as I read posts! So I am apologizing now if I am answering anything that has been addressed already, but not going back to change it!

Connie, I missed your birthday, so hope you were able to celebrate that 365th revolution around the sun! Osteo(*%^*(*)*$## , also Arimidex can cause bone deterioration or bone loss. I think the "pill" for that one is Femara. Not sure, but I think! Nipples and fishline....gotta love it! Hope you had a great celebration for your birthday.

Beanies, Kitty has to have the ooph or hyst because she tested positive for BRCA. When I asked my doc about being tested for that, he said he didn't think it was necessary because of my age and that I am already in menopause. Radiation has nothing to do with tamox or arimidex. Tamox for those not in menopause, Arimidex for those in menopause. And you only get those meds if you are ER+ PR+. I don't know if you need the ooph/hyst, but might want to ask about being tested for BRCA. Calcium is also very important for our bones.

Astorm, OMG....LMAO at your PERCOTINI. But I think the calendar needs to be emptied for 3 weeks, not 3 days! Good one girl!

Claire, hope you were able to put something good in that Livestrong bottle.

NM, so nice to have a nurse to help explain things. But I did not know that cholesterol turns into estrogen! As for the allergic reactions to the pain pills, ie throwing up and all, I just get the throw up part along with dizziness. So keep all of those oxycodones, oxycotins, and hydrocodones away from me! I won't touch em!

Stanzie, what was the reason for mixing the Tamox or Arimidex with your MS? Quality of life would be gone in what way? I think I might look more into that. Although I know nothing about MS.

Dee...Dee.....Dee.........if we have to wait for you to read posts to catch up...you will be MIA again. So just stay put! I was thinking the same thing about NM's DOTD FU2. Def. a FME2!

Junie! Got the new car! Oh I'm sensing a little...just a tad.....of "I didn't want it". I hope you end up loving it and can get comfy in it with your CUP (if ya know what I mean)! I hope you got weekend alone.

NM....NO WAY is this the last pool party. You forget where you're at girl. We can have whatever kind of party we want, where ever we want! And why can't you post pics? You've done it before.

HD, is that really your grand daughter? Or a pic you grabbed off the internet. She is def. ready to PAR TAY!

LOL @ Claire.............."I need some wine, please Pants dear".

Stanzie, oh my..more chipmunks! I am so sorry. I hope you have a FAB VACAY! You deserve it!

Junie, just saw you got stuck with the kid....sorry! I think the cannon ball pic is on the video.

Kathy, glad you are home safe, sorry ‘bout the luggage. Hope you were able to just R&R before having to worry about too much. Especially having to come home to take care of the floor problems. Now your luggage missing......guess not, just read you got it back. Whew!

Wow Junie, great idea for the luggage. I am calling you before I go ANYWHERE!

NM, the pic you wanted to post of your cousin and pooches in Vegas, if you want to send to me, I will post for you. Let me know here or on FB.

OMG Wahine....is that Pavwhova? Or whatever you call it. Damn, I can taste that just looking at it! And champagne rum punch to go with it? Are we spoiled or what?

Kathy, no receipt for the work? Girl, do your problems ever end?

Claire, 60+ miles? You must be putting in some for the rest of us!

MrsNice, glad you took a break from the boards (as needed) but we really aren't the same as other threads here! I think we are abnormal....or just like to have fun. Glad you are enjoying your chardonnay before detox.

Dee, that weiner pic is too much for words! Great find on that one for sure!

Stanzie, sorry to hear about your friends daughter getting sick on your vacay, but had a good laugh at your trying to explain your numbness and all to your friend before "going in for the big one". Hope you able to have more fun and enjoyment.

Sweet Dreams NM.......but don't be surprised if someone comes over and flips you into the pool!

Love the night cap Dee, but I don't think you dozed off. I'm thinking you had too many night caps! LOL

Astorm, joining you for one of those night caps....or maybe 4! As for my wienerful winnings.......guess I forgot the decimal. I did get a Royal Flush, but it was on the penny machine and my winnings were 40.00! Baaawhaahaaahaaawahhhaaaa! 4000 pennies!

Beans, hope you are doing ok. Jaybird, miss you too. CasinoGirl, you just don't come around much! Sure wish CAZ would come back too and bring a bottle of her Hop Stupid.

Love each and every one of you!

    NIGHT!

The idea of the cornstarch, vanilla and vinegar is that the outside is crispy chewy and the inside is like marshmallow that just melts in your mouth.  And you don't need to leave in the oven overnight.  I have made one and taken it out of the oven just before dinner and filled and eaten it for desert .

    love to all
