    Hey drinkin' buddies!

Well, I got the "you really should avoid alcohol while you're in chemo" lecture from Patty, my onco's nurse practitioner, whom I saw Wednesday before my 2nd chemo.  EVEN THOUGH my blood work was perfect.  So now my DH is on her bandwagon too and will likely throw on the guilt if I decide to have my wine.  Whatever.  NP Patty is a health nut, and lamented the empty calories, extra work on the liver, etc.  Makes sense I guess but I figured if I felt okay, why not?

So my attendance her in the HTl will be more regular as I enjoy virtual imbibements with you girls!

MrsNice - I like my wine too, but most of the time these ladies make me giggle more than a fine champagne.

HD - Wow, you are so beautiful and your hair looks lovely too!

Kathy - I didn't see anything but the bright yellow lights??

Best of everything to those just starting out - ask away as between us we probably have seen or know of most of it or can direct you onwards but rest here it is lovely, kind, supportive and very hilarious.

I'm back from vacation and it was actually a real vacation - something I haven't had in forever. I laughed a lot and rested and shopped and ate and drank and it was great. Also being with two lovely sweet funny 16 year olds was an eye opener as mine aren't quite there but they were so much fun! I'll try and post something tomorrow. Just heard from my ex that his aunt passed away so I'll get the kids tomorrow - she was 92 so not too bad but still hard on the family members.

Thanks to all of you! I have loved the pink squirrel and the chipmunk only one more dead in the house since I was gone! Wonder when chipmuck season is over if there is a season??

Hey Beans.....it almost killed me to give up wine for 6 months.  But I did it.  I scheduled a Global Virtual Wine Party to celebrate when the coast was clear.

Right now, I am celebrating a ton of stuff.  I aced my general physical.  I had an interesting outcome to a second interview for a job I would dearly love to have.  They weren't sure of fit, but definitely want me to be part of the team in some capacity.  I am just fine with that as want to be where I can be a smashing success.

I did some very good work for my clients and kept one out of a major quagmire.

So I am celebrating with a Dungeness crab salad and great wine.

Will lift a glass to all of you.

(Will loosen me up for the 8AM moving party I am attending tomorrow.  Hoping Jon found some other guys so I am not the other strong one here :)  They did promise microbrew at the end.)

I'm tempted to say something about moving day and metamucil martinis and sambuca senokot shooters, but that would be tacky. . . :D

    DOTD recommendationSlow Painful Movement

    1 1/2 oz Cinnamon Schnapps
    1 1/2 oz Sloe Gin
    1 squirt Chocolate Syrup

Sorry for the tacky posting, woke up with a headache that doesn't want to go away, and very tired.  Not sure why, didn't do much yesterday.  Maybe I need to do MORE and not LESS on my days off. . .

MrsNice......look what you have done! Started a fight here at The HTL. Everyone wanting to be designated drinker! LOL----good one Astorm!

Beans Beans Beans, I hope you feel better after that rant. Get if off your chest girl. Scream/shout/throw things/break things........what ever it takes.

Stanzie, not sure how much you have had to drink, that's me in the pic, not HD! LOL. And you posted 3 TIMES!    Glad you got to have your REAL vacation.

NM, you MUST keep a copy of those two drinks (Metamucil Martini and Sambuca Senokot) I think those are the Drink Of The.......FOREVER! And yet another good one with "The Slow Painful Movement" LOL! Sorry you aren't feeling well and that your headache goes away. But I don't think you should try to do more. I think when we are tired, it's for a reason and our body is telling us to rest.

Dee and Junie.....talking to the Gambling Gods, I hope they are listening. Claire, hope you didn't have to help move but could enjoy the microbrews!

HD, your picture is gone......you out getting a makeover?

Went to the movies yesterday while in town. Saw "You Again" with Jamie Lee Curtis, Betty White, Sigorney Weaver (sp) and Cloris Leachman was in at the end for about 5 minutes. Pretty good movie and I would reccomend it. Kind of a chick flick, by my DH likes them! How lucky am I? Also Lowe's already has their Xmas stuff out!

Oh----I forgot to ad. You remember my story about my "lovely" grandchildren? Well hubby's ex-wife is getting married today. Wedding and reception. Well, the GK's will be attending both and staying with her at her new husbands home. Please pray for her! She hasn't seen the kids in about a year and a half, so she doesn't have a clue! I have nothing against this woman, but hoping she can SPEAK UP to her daughter!

Good morning!  Stanzie, wow....I would take Lori's pic over mine anytime.  You made my day!  Glad you had fun on your trip.  NM, hope your headache clears up.  It's the weekend so just take it easy for a bit.  Claire, don't move to much heavy stuff or you will pay in the end or back!  The dungeness crab sounds good.  Lori, you are lucky your DH likes the chick flicks.  Mine rolls his eyes but will watch one if I rented it.  Kathy, our party kind of fizzled last night.  Guess some of us were drinking more than virtual likker!  Maybe tonight.  AStorm, when you are the designated drinker, I will just sit back and be the backseat designated drinker.  We can work it out!  Football game tonight to watch and steaks for DH to grill.  Guess I better start thinking what else besides corn on the cob.  Oh, I know.....wine!  Later!  HD

The headache's finally gone, but I am STILL really really tired and have no idea why.  So, instead of house work today, I'm going to take a nap.  Maybe it's the unseasonable heat that's getting to me today.  Whatever.  Pants, Jock, I'm going to be in the hammock napping, can you bring me something that will stay cold for a while that I can sip on in between log cutting sessions?  That would be WONDERFUL!

OMG, NM What would we ever do without your DOTD's???? What a riot! Hope your headache goes away soon..my DH gets horrid ones, every single day,so I realize how debilitating they can be. We just woke up and it is after 11 am!!! Boy that melatonin sure works...we DO go to bed late, but I was awake for a couple hrs in the mid of the nite, then wham...out like a light. (OR was it the drinking? j/k!)

Lori, You mean to tell us you aren't going to the wedding like junie did??? LOL. Don't know how she did it, as that is something I wouldn't ever want to do. Nice of you to worry about how she will deal with the g'kids though! Glad to know you liked that movie..I love Betty White...soooo funny.

Stanzie, There is an image to see, not just the yellow lights! Not a very elaborate image, but I just love how they can do that 3D stuff. Glad you had such a fantabulous vacay!!! Be gone chipmunks, be gone....

HunkyD, Yeah, maybe tonight we can have a blow-out party...we are waaaaay overdue. You gonna watch the Bama game too? They are on a roll again this year....ROLL TIDE!!!! OR another game? I know DH wants to watch the Bama game this afternoon, but I really wanted to go to the Art Museum for the free day....thank God for DVR's, but we'll see.....

Beans, Glad you got to throw that! Hope you are feeling better. Normal to have ups and downs though, although the downs are NOT fun.

Junie and Dee, Have the Gambling Gods been good to you yet? Hope you both are having fun! We made res for Tunica next wk, but it depends on whether or not the ins co approves the repairs and when they need to start.

I had so much that needs to be done over the next two months at the parents 2 properties here, as well as our house....didn't know how I would get it all done, and then....BUMMER...got a jury duty notice. NEVER been called for it before, and not really looking forward to it. My DD said I need to do it, as if all the nice people try to get out of it then it is not a fair system. Aarrgghhhh...and $10/day...come on...LOL. Not till late in Oct, but dreading it already. Not sure when my leg surgery will be resched for. Bright side....we got RAIN today....yay...lost a couple of nice evergreen trees and some azaleas with this dry spell we had....hoping nothing else dies. Have auto sprinkler system, but DH hates to use it when we travel, as our water ends up around $100/mo...ridiculous, but I think that is better than losing established trees/shrubs/lawn!!!!

    Okole Maluna!

    Kathy

Note:Takes me long to post w/ this netbook, and missed NM's post....SO glad your headache went away!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! Get a lot of rest in that hammock....we will *try* to be quiet!

wahine--don't worry about being quiet, I actually sleep better when there's background noise!  I actually have to have a radio playing, or the computer reading a book to me in order to sleep.  So partay away, and I'll just listen and snooze. . .

Love, love, love this thread!  I don't post on it much but do love to hear about all the funderful drinks you are all making and drinking (virtually, of course!)  I love all the parties you have too!  I need to hang more often during those for sure!

At any rate.  Just had my fist chemo infusion yesterday and Mrs. Nice already answered the question I had about "drinking" during chemo.  Bummer...I'm already missing my ice, cold DOS XX lager.

Guess it'll just taste that much better when I get to have it after treatment!

Peace and prayers for us all,

I have started imbibing.  Kathy's football team is playing I guess.  There are so many commercials I can't tell.  Our game doesn't start until 6pm.  I am really just tailgaiting right now for that.  Bean, for hell sakes don't break your laptop.  It isn't worth it!  Sometimes I hold mine up like that to shake the crumbs out.  Bawhahhahahaha!  OK, NM...hope that isn't too loud.  Time for a sip for you anyway!  Party On!  HD

Junie - Hope you have a wonderful week and win big time at the casino!

Same to Dee at the races - win big and have fun.

Wahine - good luck with the workers! DH and I rehab homes and it is so hard to find good help, when we do I treat them to extra tequila and beer chasers. Best wishes for your surgery too. As for the pic, I saw teapots and cups, like HD's, is that right? Or was it chipmunks and squirrels carrying nuts for the winter? I'm zoned out alright, should get it any minute now. Maybe NM got a hedAke from staring at it?? Sorry about the jury duty - I was called once and it went okay - hope yours does too - and yes the $10 will make you rich!!

Mrs. Nice - Glad your bloodwork was perfect!! My oncologist's NP told me "a glass of wine or a beer is okay inbetween cycles," cruel lady. I get two weeks off B'tween cycles but it tastes weird and gives me a hedAke, so what good is that? I am 3 or 4 days from starting cycle 4 and just last night a little wine was good. Whew! Just when you start to feel a little normal you gotta get chemo again! Es la vita! BTW - I enjoyed peeking at your blog!!

Hi AStorm! - You still have your gorgeous orange tabby?

HD - So glad to see your pretty face back up here!! Thanks for the happy hour invite, I was in awe that you got 6 loads of TAC all at once? That sounds rough, and pissier is definitely a word that would go along with that!! Okay I'll just wring the laptop's neck instead of throwing it. Sounds like the party has started for Saturday so count me in. I will definitely be drinking hard this weekend.

Stanzie - so you saw the chipmunks and squirells too? Did you see the teapot? Glad you had a great vacation!

Claire - Thanks for the wine sympathies. I will be in Seattle next Tues. 9:30, you should stop by and visit while I get my KEEEEEEMOOOOH. So glad your physical went so well and hope the job works out, and congrats on keeping your client problem free!

NM - glad your friggin hedAke is better and I LMAO over the Slow Painful Movement & other remedies, goes perfect with my life!! Sure hope you are feeling better.

Goldie - Thanks for letting me vent so much here. I really appreciate you helping me get through this. Best wishes for the GK's and I will be praying!

Hi ToriGirl - Nice to meet you here, sorry about having chemo - I'm starting #4 of 6 and even though I complain a lot it is doable. Congrats on getting # 1 done!!! What tx are U getting?

We are packing 2day, leaving 2morrow for the crazy train back to the coast, then to Seattle Tues (please join me for a great chemo cocktail).

Heartfelt thanks for the compassion and understanding from all you lovely ladies. Now let's get drunk and have some fun. Chortles and Cheeers! ~Beans
