Oh, I was thinking a massage would feel wonderful now that my scars aren't quite so painful but Dee I think I might just have to wait a bit more.... Sorry you got bruised, that doesn't sound right at all.

Mrs. Nice - hope you find the ginger with Dk choc. if not their ginger cookies are very good, much better than grocerty store ones and worked for me after surgery.

So far Liesl is better - keeping my fingers crossed... My cousin for Arizona is coming to visit so off cook. Hoping if I make a truely southern dinner it won't freak him out!

Tried to post last night but lost it. DH  was having a birthday and I felt guilty hanging out with my drinking buddies so I logged off...  Healther would probably be beautiful with green hair. Glad you had such a good time at the wedding! I just love weddings, especially when I care about the couple. Sheer joy! Careful, Dee, too many of those drinks might turn your beautiful face back into a sock monkey! I've been ruffed up by massage therapists a couple of times. In fact, for years I would go to the mud baths in Calistoga (Napa) and decline a massage. When I was pregnant with a 10# baby in the middle of a particularly hot summer I finally relented. The therapist was wonderful (she had a table made for pregos) and I have been going to her ever since. My MIL likes to treat me to spa treatments when we are on vacation and that is where I usually get ruffed up. I like Lori's idea about giving NM's student a little drinky-poo. The Sambuca Senakot ought to keep her out of your way for awhile and maybe even help her change her attitude. Glad to hear Liesl is doing better, Stanzie. Our wiener ate DD's expensive bikini bottom this morning... woke up to yelling and a stiff arm... I'm pretending I'm in Alaska - that's beautiful, KathyMrsNice, I have the worst tummy... very senstive to odors, anything slightly greasy, anesthesia kills my system, and of course, I pay for a one-too-many miscalculation. Fresh mint (muddle leaves, add hot water, strain) or fresh ginger tea (slice of fresh ginger in hot water with just a drop of honey) usually works for me, as does ginger ale. I also make simple syrups with mint or ginger -- used to keep these onhand for cocktails now I add them to tonic water. Didn't know about TJ's chocolate covered ginger though -- I'm going to stock up! That could be good for a headache or just a bad day... If I throw a banana and a Spank the Monkey in the blender can I call it a breakfast smoothy? I skipped the alcohol at DH's birthday dinner last night because I was already too hot but I still couldn't sleep... even DH got up and checked to make sure all the windows were open. Well it's cooling down now so hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. Have a great Wednesday!

Hi - I wanted to share what was out my back deck this morning, two cute deer. This is from our beach cabin in Ocean City. You can see how gray and foggy it gets... can get to ya mood wize. In the distance you should be able to see the water, but not now. Yesterday morning it was really foggy and drizzly for our ride to Seattle, then we we got back the sun was out and it was warm and glorious....crazy weather. Claire - it was so hot an muggy in Seattle! Wow!

    mount

This is a recent pic from our mountain place. It has been cooler there too, but we get suck bright blue skies and much dryer. I love both places...

Happy Humpin' Hump Day!!!   Starting on my dog beers--its gotta be 5 pm somewhere!!!

Well, Stanzie has lit a fire under my butt--guess I gotta find me an avatar and figure out how to add it--looks like I'm the only one who doesn't have one!

Beans--great poem!   Good exercise for chemo fogged brains!!

Wahine--we're going to have Jocks tie you in the hammock to slow you down a bit!!!  The HTL is keeping the gamblin god busy--have fun and WIN!!!

Taking a pass on the Spank the Monkey DOTD!!!!  eeewwwww--what's really in it?   Dating myself, but to me, spank the monkey referred to whacking off!!!!!!   LOL

Bottoms Up, Cheers, Chairs, dog beers, big ears, cha-ching cha-ching, and HUGGSSS to ALL!!!

Goldie - Love the Spank Monkey drink and what a bargain at only 25 cents!! Hope you have a wonderful time - you will be missed big time!! Glad I'm not the only one who noted the connection. Every day these beautiful ladies post their pics, Wow!!

Clair - Great biz idea, let's get drunk and make lots of Money. (BTW - yes it was SLOE as in sloe gin fizz not a typo, I love gin fizzes, yum look forward to those after chemo too.

AStorm - I think I was posting when you did...hope you are feeling better!

Wahine - Hope you have a great time and you will be missed big time too! Thanks for posting the aurora borealis, I have never seen - absolutely beautiful!!

Stanzie - Love your pic, you are beautiful!! I gave up massages as the only good masseuse I could find would sniffle and talk through the whole thing. She constantly had to stop to blow her nose and for me the talking wasn't relaxing. Now I just do stetching on my own, yoga like...Hope your allergy is better.

NM - Thanks for the Painkiller for my tx yesterday. It sure helped me get through it. Dang neighbors burning trash - I hate it when they do that. Hope that's done along with the headache.

Dee - Happy Humin' Day to you! Glad you popped in. I'm real sorry summer is ending. Sun and fun is the best. That drink sounds like a doozie - fun stuff!! ! Sorry to hear about Helga that sounds awful, maybe she needs a scorpion in her apron.

HD - Things went okay yesterday, only 2 pokes to get the IV going. This was the first time my white counts were down, around 2800 so still high enough for tx, but it gets my hyper paranoid hypercondria going. Dr says the tx will probably boost it by next Tues. Also that mid treatment is a normal time for the blues. I guess #5 and especially #6 you get all exited about seeing the end that it pulls you though. If I don't die first, I guess I'll make it!!!! It's a big sucky thing. Still, I think getting through a year of Physical Chemistry was harder -Tee Hee! I sure hope you are feeling better and in no pain!!

Kitty - Love the brunette, you look fantastic in everything you choose. So glad you got to the wedding!

MrsNice - Sure hope you feel better too. I'm taking zofran and it keeps nausea totally away and exlax very close at hand.:-). Feel better quick!!

Junie - Oh boy!!! MORE DOG BEERS!!!

So now, only 5 more MF infusions and 3 cytoxan cycles. At 3 pills a day X 14 days each cycle, that's only 41 more cytoxan pills. Whew! Will I be glad when this is over. Yes, bottoms up and big dog beers ears cheers!!

I think one of my cats had a little too much catnip... I just heard all this banging around in the livingroom. I thought all my furbabies were in the bedroom with me but discovered that one of the cats was running around the house inside a gift bag. He likes tissue paper and grocery bags, but this bag was a little too small and he got the handle caught around his neck. It was hilarious but I was a bit concerned because he looked so freaked out I was afraid he might hurt himself. He got it off before I could catch him and then sprinted for the cat door (into garage). When I went into the garage to check on him he hissed at me!

AStorm--Giving my student a Sambuca Senokot would be poetic justice--one of the things she "didn't forget, I'm learning and you should have made sure I understood that it was a priority" was a laxative the patient needed!  Sometimes I wonder if students suddenly lose thier ability to understand the English language.

Goldie--the Spank the Monkey sounds like a wondefully tasty drink, but like  Stanzie I wouldn't be able to order in public!

Waheni--the northern lights pic is beautiful!  I get to see the lights every once in a great while, but what I usually get to see is just some color, no the curtains like in the pic.

Beanie--you have obviously been trying all the drinks lately, and it's brought out your creative side!  Thanks for the giggle, and the rhymes are great!

Got to call my massage therapist and set up an appointment.  After this week I think I've earned one!

Well I will be dipped in Sh!t.  I have never read so many lovely entertaining posts in a day.  I about giggled outloud at work.  Then immediately deleted my browsing history.  Beanius, I knew you weren't a genious, but I didnt knowit that you were a poet.  Very nice.  You must have had a few steriods....LOL!  Lovely pictures!  I am not even going to try to reply to everyones post as I would have to jump to word so I will just say Dee, Helga is a biotch, NM, yours student needs a good slap in the head....they might get that through their muddled memory.  AStorm, sorry to laugh at the cat story but I loved it.  I have seen cats go crazy like that, and I know they actually love it in a sick, adrenaline sort of way.  Hope you are feeling better today.  We are both about the same time out of surgery.  I am a whoosie though, and you aren't.  Junie.....my gawd....I did have to shut down at work after your comment cause that's when I lost it.  You never cease to amaze me.  Where are we getting all these drinks just plum full of 99 proof likker.  I like it.  I hate bananas though!  Dang!  Lori, I did like the price of the drink also.  Hope you have a safe and profitable road show.  Stay on line if ya can.  Kathy, beautiful picture of the Borealis.  Bet it was breathtaking in person and have a fun safe time in Tunica. Kitty, glad your sis's wedding was lovely.   Stanzie.....it's great that Liesl is doing better.   Hope that keeps going.  Claire....I started back to work full time this week and have been extremely tired....but I actually think just reading your posts about your exercise have been compounding my problem.  You are making me more tired.  I want you to simmer down for a while....LOL!  Connie?  Ta Ta now....Hunkydory

Dee - I'm glad you're back to post and hang out with us!!!  Helga is going to have to deal with the wrath of us ladies!!!!! Bruises???  That's too much.  Maybe we can put her in a mammogram machine and give her extra squeezes!!!!  Or give her a ride in the MRI!   Or poke her in the chest some needles.  We have our own arsenal of BC torture devices!!!

Mrs Nice - do you have a China town or some kind of Asian store nearby?  They sell ginger candies.  I had a couple of them, while on AC.  Kind of helped.  I really liked Gingerale and Diet Sierra Mist.  Water tasted gross to me, so I found a lot of flavored drinks that worked.  Eating little things (yogurt, mango, crackers, etc) every 2-3 hours also helped with nausea.

Lori - love Spank the Monkey and it's so cheap.  Definitely worth it.  A couple people who have seen me bald say I have a nicely shaped head.  LOL!  I think  I might grow the hair back brunette.   A lot of people have said it makes me look younger - amazing!  That's what I thought I was achieving with the blonde.  Also, thanks for the tip on typing posts in Word and pasting it to the site.  Much better than losing a lot of "work" typing long posts like this one!

Beanius - I love your pics!  We go to Utah every summer, but have missed going the last 2 summers because last summer I was too busy getting a BMX and this summer chemo!  Yuck.  BC Sucks!!!

Astorm- my cats have done the same thing with bags.  One of my cats (Scarlett) was playing with these helium balloons I got.  She kept taking the tied strings off a chair arm with her teeth, letting them go and watching the balloons the ceiling (she is very talented).  So, we attached the balloon string to her collar.  All of a sudden she got weirded out, ran around the apartment, popping balloons around every corner.  We found her under the bed, broken free from her collar (but the balloons were kind of shoved under the bed).  She has NEVER liked balloons since.  She is 14 and will run if someone brings balloons into the house! LOL!

Well, this round has kicked my butt for the time being. I figured about 9 - 10 more weeks of chemo. I will get through, but am really feeling the fatigue. I got out for my 40 min of exercise yesterday, barely, will see about today. Now it's nappy hour, then happy hour. I couldn't agree with you more Kitty, BC sucks! HD hope you're not as tired as I am (ps one of my many "talents" is I write bad poety :-)..AStorm love the kitty story...NM - enjoy your massage!!!

Now, to kick ass bc where it belongs, I'm offering up The Kick Ass Cocktail

    kcik ass

    Shake with ice and strain
    1/6 orange juice. (1/2 oz, 1.5 cl, 1/8 gills)
    1/6 Dubonnet. (1/2 oz, 1.5 cl, 1/8 gills)
    2/3 French vermouth. (2 oz, 6 cl, 1/2 gills)
2/3 Canadian Club whisky. (2 oz, 6 cl, 1/2 gills)
    1 slice orange. (1/2 oz, 1.5 cl, 1/8 gills)
Shake and strain into cocktail glass.
Serve in a cocktail glass (4.5 oz)

And if that ain't enough add some 99 proof likker and a bannana! Cheers & Buttoms Up!

OMG you girls crack me up!  Great poetry Beani!  And you have a beach house and a mountain house?  We need to have a party at both!!  Love the little deers . . . sooo cute.

Yes I did get the dark chocolate ginger treats at TJ's yesterday.   YUMMMO!  It hasn't been so much the nausea, but diarrhea every day since the 22nd.  Seems to have let up so far today,  so hopefully I can start enjoying something besides potatoes and rice.  Think I'm gonna try Activia yogurt to see if the probiotics will get my flora and fauna balanced.  Just hope I don't sprout any weeds!

Well my DOTD is COFFEE!!  My first cup in over a week. Yesterday was my first Diet Pepsi.  Neither sounds good (or wise) when I'm nauseous and chemo'd out.  Those who know me well know that my IV drip goes from coffee to diet pepsi to chardonnay, rinse and repeat daily.

Well, I think I'll actually try to make a day of it . . . first day I've felt this good in a week.  Thanks for the tips and encouragement - don't know what I'd do without you all.  Yesterday my DH actually used the words "try harder" when I was whining about my plight.  He doesn't typically go there, but he's been in idiot zone lately so I forgave him.  SERIOUSLY?  Try harder.  YOU try harder you big buffoon.

    DOG BEERS TO ALL!

Mrs. Nice - hate to tell you but dark chocolate might not be exactly what you want with diarrhea.....

Astorm, I know it sounds like forever those 9 or 10 weeks but we will certainly do our best to help you fly through them....you too Kitty, Mrs. Nice.... and well shoot I've totally lost who all is going through the dreaded chemo cocktails. My brains is just slow.

I had posted last night and lost the whole thing. Will have to try the word idea but then how do you refer back to everything or are you all just really strong on memory at the moment. I guess minimizing? Like I said slow today.

Beanie - adore the poetry - perfect and the pictures are just lovely fog and all!!!

Kitty, I'm surprised diet drinks taste OK with chemo - they are so sweet normally. Anyway, not that you are old enough yet but I have certainly found as I age I wash out more no matter what makeup I'm wearing so I can see why darker would make one look younger.... Since I am a bottle blond from long ago I know when my color is first done I like how it is a little darker but then fades quickly.

Mrs. Nice - just remember if he was going through all this try harder wouldn't even get him anywhere. You just do what you can and what you feel like and you will be doing more than enough. I'm sorry - I just wonder what one earth men can be thinking sometimes.....

Happy Thursday!,it is Thursday isn't it?

MrsNice - the first time I had surgery I told my DD to bring Starbucks when she came to visit the next morning. Needless to say, there was no Starbucks. This time I didn't try to give up coffee completely, but I did cut back to 1/2 cup / day 2 weeks before and after surgery. I'm not getting headaches so now I just drink really good decaf. Fortunately there are some roasters in my town that make good decaf... and by that I mean it is probably not really decaf. Glad you enjoyed your first cuppa jo.And as for the DH, WE are definately the stronger sex. When my DH made a comment that I should be able to go on one of our walks (usually 10 miles, uphill) 3 days after surgery even tho he had read the doc's post-op instructions, I told him that I obviously was not ready for that because if I was I would have jumped out of my chair and slapped him. Just listen to your body. Speaking of which, did you know that the B in BRAT diet is for Banana?

Beanie - thanks for the DOTD. Don't think I'll be needing that 99 proof - I think there's plenty of likker in the basic recipe. No more bananas for me for awhile. Hope you feel better soon. You get the hammock all to yourself... and as many tattie tenders as you need. Love the pictures - you live in a beautiful place.

Heather - LOL! Aren't cat's just the craziest little things? I can't even give mine catnip cuz they are already crazy. My nice, mellow couch potato turns into a monster if he even smells catnip. I used to have a cattle dog that loved balloons. I would give her helium balloons that were starting to lose the helium. She barked as it fell and then when they go close enough she would jump up and hit the balloon with her nose and then wait for it again. She learned early on that you can't bite them (cuz they bite back) but she really wanted to which made the game really exciting for her.

MrsNice - We were going to build in the mountains, but the recession hit so we're holding off, we have a large shop and RV (water, power, septic, etc. very cozy) there and we have the beach cabin too, where we ususally go in winter to get outa the snow. Much sunnier today, but I musta caught what you have. This whole chemo trip has been about constipation and exlax, but today maybe too much exlax??? Whooooo! So much darn fun, and only 9 or 10 more weeks to look forward to. I love Trader Joes and that is where my new avatar is from. So glad you could have coffee! So far that's been okay for me and a saving grace each morning! Still haven't had nausea, just some things look gross so I don't eat em, and my energy is waaaaaay down. I'm very happy to hear you feel better today! Hurray!!! DH's say weird things some times...you sound like you have a good attitude about it tho. "Try harder" would have seriously ruffled my feathers. Keep hangin in there!! We will get thru this!!!

Stanzie - Glad you liked the silly poem...just popped in my head that day. Happy Thursday to you and tomorrow is Happy Friday and time to partay again!!!

AStorm - LOL about your advice! Thanks for the well wishes and the hammock, much needed.

NM- Ugh, long boring meeting on Happy Friday, ugh...well get though it and then onto Friday night party binge drinkin hard!

This is the back of my Trader Joes receipt:

    tjs

And a sunny day at the coast - you can see the surf in the distance!!

    beach

Cheers and big dog beers to ya'll. And a word of advice, don't poo anything I wouldn't poo (hope that's not in too bad of taste :-). ~Beans

I could use another round of Pain Killer as did three Goodwill/electronics recycle runs yesterday!   But the Kick Ass might do it as well.

I had some tummy woes during chemo, but swear probiotics helped.  I never needed the prunes I bought, and think that was because I ate tons of PEARS.

The hardest thing with chemo is taking the long view, but it does eventually end.  So hang in there and plan for a massive celebration at the end.  That is what I did, and it worked.

Then you get to pay back all the favors your friends did during the time.  Like showing up at moving parties and hauling away stuff to Goodwill.  Something this good does the deed in one fell swoop.  (I provided a recommendation for another friend, so getting close there too.)

But what an excuse for extra some muscle relaxant!!!!

Mrs Nice- Try harder???? Really???  OMG - I would have hit my DH over the head with something if he said that to me.

I am so tired today.  I woke up this morning around 5 am.  The steroids they give me what I take in pill form makes it so hard to sleep. I took an Adivan last night and then another at 5 am, when I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.  Now I'm tired. I'm really hoping I sleep through the night.  Ughhh....

So, Saturday is my 41st birthday.  I'm going out with the Ta Ta girls coming into town tomorrow.  Then my DH and I are going to lunch and shopping on Saturday and Sunday we're having brunch at our house.  Our friends all want to bring their kids.  I am not heating up the pool.  It's my birthday and I won't go in the pool when people come over.  I told my DH to tell them that I'm not on kid watch and I'll be pi$$ed if everyone wants to hang out in the pool!

Ok, I just read the end of my post - I sound like a hater!  I am excited for my birthday.  :)

    Hi girlfriends!!!!

Kitty, Hope Saturday is an amazing day for you! We will definately have to rock the house down here and have a smashing party. I am STILL celebrating my 60th...DH still wishes me happy birthday every day. So milk it for all its worth!!!!

    Love your poems Beans!!!!

Can't catch up with all the posts as we are still at the casinos, and I am on the little netbook, so screen is soooo small. Last night and this morning I was ready to give up drinking for good!Surprised Not only did I lose a ton of $$$, but ended up having tooooo many Top Shelf Patron Margaritas! So smooth going down, but then they kicked me in the butt. Had not had a hangover in a zillion years, but this made up for that. Thought I would die! Welll, later on today I forgot all about that, as the gambling gods were finally smiling on me. So not only am I up $$$-wise, but had a corona, and also a couple of glasses of Moscato wine....that seems to be my  new fav wine. So now I am happy again...yesterday I was ready to head back home! "Hunk" should be here tomorrow...so junie I will have to say hi to him!

Read all the posts, and feeling everyone's pain, and laffin at the animal antics! Sorry for all the chemo probs, and probs at the "other end", and hope everyone will be feeling better soon. Glad you found the dk choc ginger, MrsNice! Sounds like some DH's were VERY lucky not to get whacked in the head!!! I may pass on the "Kick Ass Cocktail" this time! Beautiful picture Beans! Did you take it?

    Have a Good Night everyone!

Too my Bebe into the Doc. this morning as she was doing better but now threw up her breakfast and had diarrhea. So $400.00+ later still don't know anything.... they will call me in the next couple of days with blood work but they gave her a wellness check up with X-ray, urinalysis that I'm supposed to figure out how to get a dashcund to pee in the cup! Yep right with you on that one!!! They also gave her shots for vomiting and the diarrhea and pills so....? Told me I was doing right putting her on bland diet and giving her 1/2 pepsid.

Will let you know how the peeing in a cup goes - they said I have a month to collect the sample... hmm do we think they know something about the difficulity of this? So if you see someone chasing a beautiful little dog around with a cup and plastic slide type thing - it's me! Now my neighbors are sure to turn me in after lassoing with the garden hose! Fun times.

Kathy- Hair of the Dog, just not mine!

    Hi Beanius.....

I don't remember what I used, but the one in the Group Health pharmacy which was super potent.  Lots of probiotics.  I think you can find what you need in any supermarket supplements section or health food store.  I wouldn't go extra fancy.

I like Three Greek Gods yogurt best BTW.  Local Washington State brand and really delish.  Had some this AM with defrosted frozen berries.

Am going to celebrate this evening one of my friends' new life.  She got caught in a technology firm that was going south.  But over, and she can move on.  I am sure she will find the right opprotunity.  So thrilled for her.

I got contacted by a headhunter today, so need to pursue that too as want something FT at this point.  So feeling good about that as well.

So tons of reasons to drink up!!!!

(And if I couldn't think of anything else, tomorrow is supposed to be glorious so doing a ride in the Upper Snoqualmie Valley.  Just so gorgeous there on a clear day.)
