how about drinking?

That last post (by BETS) should be deleted...IMHO anyway!
Glad you're watching the BAMA game, HD! We werre out at the art museum and then an art show, so stopped off for fish tacos and a pitcher of DOS XXX with lime...YUMMMMMMMM! Good thing we had taped the BAMA game....had to turn down the volume at the mexican place so DH wouldn't hear the score...LOL. Came home and I had to get the game started so he wouldn't see the current score B4 watching it from the start. Got the party started early!!!!!

Kathy, it is a good close game. I really like the ones that are close like this. The crowd/fans are amazing! Hope you had a great time out at the museum. HD

Glad the game is good HD.....haven't heard DH yell from the other room yet....but hope BAMA wins and keeps up their good ranking! NAW....the art museum sucked actually....glad it was "free" day. But they only have 2 large rooms....not worth the drive into town. The artists show was good though....they do it every Sat at a really funky place, that was an old cotton mill....several artists have studios there where they work and it is a VERY imaginative place! Fri nights they have free entertainment at the loading dock and last night was zydeco and they said it was packed... but I still felt yucky so missed it. Thanks again for the card....we love opening it!!!!

Wow, this bar is hoppin! I passed out and missed all of the excitement. Last night we walked to one of our fav Mex restaurants for dinner with our 17yo DD, about 5 blocks downhill where I proceeded to drink too much margarita. It was only one margarita -- I've decided I can have 1 marg once in awhile but only 1 and made with only really good tequila. It came in this beautiful glass, kind of like this one:
... and I was a good girl and didn't eat the salt. AND I ordered food. About half way through the marg I realized I'd had enough and gave it to DH who was more than happy to finish my $11.50 margarita. The we walked home even tho doc told me not to go on any long walks yet. I was really winded trying to get back up the hill and it made my family worry about me. I was really ok, but my heart was pounding and I know that isn't good. When I got home I fell asleep watching old episodes of Mad Men and slept for about 14 hours. I don't think my DD will be wanting to hang with me on Friday night again! How was your Friday night?
Beans - good to see you back at the bar. Once when my kids were young and my mom was having troubles I gave a friend a ride home in my crazy mom van with kid music blasting and food wrappers strewn everywhere. I couldn't wait to drop off my kids at the dance studio where another mom was picking them up for a sleepover. I'd had an exceptionally bad day and at one point I pulled over and started crying. He asked me what was wrong and all I could blubber was, "I need to go home and get wasted and there isn't enough tequila to make me unconscious - WAAAAH!" He still quotes me on this!
Yes, still have the orange tabbies... and the hair all over my piano.

AStorm....sounds like you overdid it a little too much last night. You aren't that far out of surgery. I am 3 weeks and I still am quite tired. Margaurita sounds great though. I don't remember when I slept 14 hours before. Bless your heart for walking with family to dinner like that. Good story about being a Van Mom ready for an escape too! I do enjoy reading all of the fun stories told on this thread. Now it is time for our football game to start. We have a good dinner ready and a bottle of Baringer wine opened and tasted. Sorry I posted non stop this afternoon, but that might be correlated to alcohol consumption and a bit of good company. I will try and shut up for a while. Hope NM is going to wake up soon. Hugs again to all! HD

Ummmm whoops! I really did know that was you goldie, really I did. I couldn't get it to post and it took so long I forgot to check it. Perhaps I should go back to being quiet for a bit....
beanius - love the avatar - I also have always loved Cousin It as my favorite character unless I'm missing something which well I'm blaming it on not recovering yet from vacation.......

Hi Ladies.
Could use a strong one about now. Beers after moving party didn't cut it. I am dying from all the lifting, somthing like 10 hours of it. Others never showed up so just the three of us. Two of us for much of the time.
My friends were less than half packed so did a lot of that too. Then stuff like having to take apart beds (carriage bolts) and lifting endless boxes. I am beat.
Fortunately, some other people are helping with the clean up run tomorrow.
Their new place is lovely so thrilled they moved.
Can't wait for a shower and bed. I did take the champagne split, so a bellini tomorrow evening prior to dinner.
Was glad to get home in one piece from new place.

Wow, Claire, sounds like you worked hard! How about a Painkiller?
Painkiller
2 oz Chocolate Liqueur
1 oz Dark Rum
1 dash Orange Liqueur
1 dash Coconut Syrup0 -
You DOTD women are so amazing!
Claire - wow, you constantly amaze me on your endurance!
My little dog is having trouble.... My Liesl. I know she is 15 but I don't know what I'd do with out her. After she eats or drinks she throws up sometimes foamy. I looked it up online and it said it could be acid reflux and have tried giving her 1/2 of a low dose pepsid but it is still happening. Any thoughts anyone? I'll take her to the Dr. on Monday. Thanks!

Oh Stanzie, do you have an emerg animal clinic? If so, I would take her there so they could see what the problem is, and be able to treat her. If not, can you call your vet and maybe they have an emerg number, so at least you could ask them what you should do? I know how much she means to you, and for both you and Liesl it would be good if you had some expert advice. I wish I had some help, but I have not had that happen,so I would just call the experts. I will be thinking of you both, and please keep us updated as to how she is doing. Prayers and hugs going out for Liesl!
NM, What an ono(yummy) DOTD for today....sounds like something I would want all day long.... Thank God there are no caloires at the HTL! Pants, will you mix up a TON of this for us to enjoy today??? Thank you dear Pants. And thanks for NM for thinking of such good drinks!
It is rainy again, but so glad to have it. Good day to get stuff done inside, as long as I don't drink too many of NM's drinks!
To no pain, no gain, and lotsa rain,
Kathy

Think I'll head over to the buffet the Wenches prepared for us, while enjoying the PAINKILLER drink!

Tori - come out from hiding and lurking in da bushes, we don't bite!
HD - love the make over! Beans - you too!
Kathy - what is DOS?
Junie / Dee - miss you girls, hope you are having fun and winning big!
Claire - whew, I get tired just reading about what you do!
Stanzie - I hope nothing too serious with Liesl.
Astorm - take it easy girl, or we will have to come over there!
NM - hope you had a great schnooze and thx for the drink.
Haven't heard anything about the wedding yet. Kathy, I didn't go as I wasn't invited! Need to get some last minute things done around the house. Leaving Thursday for Phoenix. We will be exhibiting at the Maricopa County Home Show, Fri/Sat/Sun. So I am sure I will be MIA during that time.
Thank you wenchies for the great buffet and NM for the drink! With the chocolate, the orange and the coconut, sounds like it will taste like a coconut tootsie roll!

Lori, DOS was for Dos EquisXX....someone else put DOS and the X's (Tori? I forget who wrote that)...so since I wasn't sure of the spelling, I just put that too. Sorry!!! But it sure was good on draft....yummmmm!!! Have a good trip to Phoenix this week! We are supposed to go to Tunica, but may just let DH go, and then I can get more done around here. When you will be in Nashville?
BARMEN!

Wow, those Metamucil Mojitos did the trick, girls.... my personal DOTD has been Gatorade for the past 48hrs as I have had some sort of stomach bug that reversed my percocet-induced GI troubles...my only exercise has been stumbling from the bed to bathroom... sorry, too much information? Good times. Oh well, I guess my body is trying to reboot itself, I keep forgetting surgery was only a few weeks ago, so I can't complain.
Lots of DR appts next week - oncologist tomorrow, PS on Wed for my next TE fill (I'm gonna take a Motrin before and get ahead of the pain), Gyno surgeon on Thurs to find out what the side effects of no longer having ovaries will be. I was already in chemopause anyway for a year, so not expecting many new SEs, although the beard is new....just kidding. I think I can make it to the couch today to watch a bit of football with DH, maybe even make the potroast and scalloped potatoes I had planned. We'll see, may have to sneak some stuff from the buffet to feed him?
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Was late to church early service this AM......wonder why???
Have to admit that a heavy-duty moving party is wonderful for sleeping soundly with or w/o the Painkiller!!!
Anyway, wish I could have some of the other things on the buffet. Made myself some French Toast when I got back from church, and some bacon or sausage would be wonderful at this point. Oh, well.
Think I am cycling later with one of my friends. That is provided that it isn't pouring down rain.
Lulubelle, can you take a probiotic or eat a lot of yogurt to help with the tummy woes. I did a probiotic throughout chemo just to be sure, and eat yogurt about 5x per week. You need the stuff with heavy duty active cultures. Just a thought.
Have a great Sunday everyone, and will join you later at the Lounge.

Oh Shoot I'm so out of touch on everything HD - you are beautiful and your hair is lovely too! Looks like it is shorter but the way I'm going who knows what on earth I'm seeing these days.
On vacation, introduced pina coladas to the lovely almost 16 year old beauties (virgin of course) but we fixed them up with pretty umbrellas and fancy glasses and fruit to make them festive - they were so thrilled! Gosh being with those grils, 16 is way different now that it was when I was a teenager - and boy I never had such an amazing figure - I was in good shape and very thin but still didn't ever look like these girls - one of their mom's said it was push up bras but I don't know.... I feel sorry for the boys they must drive them to total distraction just by being there. Maybe I'm just old - hope not.
So I looked on my preferences and such - I want to learn how to post an avatar - Beans you have so got me interested in this. I really love the hair it really is just perfect especially for this site. I do think we have the most fun and are an awfully creative bunch I just want join in on pictures! Wish I had asked those teenage girls to help me.... hmm?

Stanzie, just sent you a PM....let me know if it works! Hope Liesl is doing better. Got a kick out of the "...almost 16 year old beauties (virgin of course)" line....but knew you were referring to the pina coladas....funny though!

Stanzie, you probably have already figured it out. Posting an avatar is very simple. I believe any photo that is a jpeg will work. It will be resized for you. Just make sure your head/face/dog, etc. is cropped in close on what you want to use because it will be ever so small. You can play around with that. Just go to My Home on the menu above and click on add photo. Then browse to wherever that photo is stored on your computer. Adding photos to posts in this box that are direct links from the internet are easy also. The harder photos would be those of your own i.e., Leisl chasing pool cleaner, etc. By the way....hope Leisl is doing better! It is kind of tricky posting your own photos as you need an account on Photobucket or some other image hosting site so the image is already stored out there on a server. Can't post an image in this box straight from your own computer. Anyway, I know this is mumbo jumbo....I'm sorry! Not good at explaining. Lulu....you have been through quite a surgery....hope you are climbing out of that hole and your next fill is tolerable. I am like Dee....the more I got....the worse. Some get through it fine. Claire....I warned ya....LOL! You better stay off the bike for today and rest up! Hugs to all! HD0

Hey there drinkin' buddies!
Day 5 post-chemo and I feel like sh*t on a shingle. Lots of tummy upset; I'm with Lulubelle on the gatorade DOTD. That and water, and saltine crackers. Mashed taters for dinner in a few.
To Bets - I understand your "why take a chance" approach, but at the same time, we gotta live a little during this process. My onco's NP didn't make it a mandatory no-no, but suggested avoiding it. Well, I'll do my best to avoid it until I finish chemo - which will make Thanksgiving a whole new day of gratefuls.
I'm watching my DH watch the recorded Charger game - and he yells as the TV, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" So funny . . .

Checking back, and have to admit I am ready for some muscle relaxant!!! I did go for a bicycle ride, but something relatively easy. Just enough to get out there and keep it all working!!!
You were right, Hunky.....I was dragging today. I was filling out a QOL form for one of the studies I am in and they were asking about pain and fatigue in the past 7 days. I realized that this was referring to the garden variety sort....not spending 10 hours moving stuff. So I checked the "not at all" column.
Mrs Nice....I didn't drink at all during chemo (except for extra-generous slugs of communion wine) and thought that was the right thing to do. So about SIX MONTHS of abstaining. Way too long, but was thrilled when I could imbibe again.
Stanzie and Wahine......I am wondering if really that different. I remember guys being distracted by the "fast girls" in HS. Some of us were "late bloomers", to put it mildly, but others were more than hot (tight skirts, mega-wiggle). I got some feedback a few years later to confirm what I has suspected. Some quite wild times (but not mine).

MrsNice - sometimes I can't believe how worked my DH gets watching sports. He was so excited about the Alabama game I had to put a headset on to focus on m boring tax lectures.
Stanzie - hope Leisl is feeling better. My corgi got really sick when she was about a year old and has been on a special diet ever since. We were at my in laws and they like to give treats, like buttered toast and bites of meat, to little dogs. She had pancreatitis and had to spend several days at a vet hospital on an IV. I'd definately get her to the vet if she isn't feeling better.

Howdy, loungies....back home and glad--looking forward to tomorrow's DOTD! Had a fun little get away. The slot god was on vaca--I played all evening and ended up just a little $ down. However, the blackjack god was merciful and dH walked out way ahead....he gave me enough to set aside to fund our next casino jaunt and has enough left to make the first car payment! LOL--he'll spend it six ways to Sunday before time for the payment!!!! Most important is that we had a fun week end! First road trip for new vehicle and we are both happy with it. Hope the race track god was good to Dee! Dee, pop in and let me know--main thing is that you had fun!!!! The BD bash was fun and it was good to see lots of long-time friends.........
Looking forward to a relaxing day tomorrow at the pool. Have Jocks lined up to keep the drinks coming; Pants is giving massages; Skate is fixing a yummy brunch. I'll read and catch up on posts before I climb in the hammock for a nap! Sure do miss a lot when gone for a couple of days!! Have much to jabber about--maybe manana!!
Big huggsssss to ALL!!! Cheers, chairs, dog beers, big ears...BARMEN!!!

Hi junie, Glad you got back home safely, and that your DH was waaaaay ahead! Would be good if you could "squirrel away" that money B4 he spends it (good luck with that...LOL). But so glad you had a great time.
Gail, Didn't know how many BAMA fans (or at least their DH's) are on our thread! Neat that your DH watched the game too.
WooHoo....looks like junie has a great day lined up for us here tomorrow! HunkyD, Dee, and all you other working gals need to take a day off and join us (or a "pretend" day off).

Wow - am I behind on this thread!!! We just got home from NYC. We had a great time. We flew in on late Thursday night and slept in the next day until noon. Friday we just ran errands and then went to the rehearsal dinner at this great pizza place. Saturday I got ready at my sister's apartment. The wedding was SPECTACULAR! It was at this place called the River Cafe in Brooklyn that overlooked lower Manhattan. We had a great time. I actually drank a couple glasses of wine. I can't stand the taste of red wine right now (must be the tannins), but white wine tasted good. My sister looked so beautiful in her wedding gown - it was a sheath style dress from Vera Wang - very nice!!! I went as a brunette and everyone loved it!!! I think I'm going back to being a brunette. We had a wonderful time. We flew out this evening. It was nice because my sister used her mileage and got us into first class. I slept for a good portion of the way home. I'll have to post pics of the wedding once I upload them to the computer.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!! Cheers!!
Heather

Welcome home to our girls that were gone. Junie, glad the Gods were at least good to hubby. I know when we leave on Thursday, and won't be home until Monday.......I am not even gonna try to catch up with posts! I will read, but that is all!
Stanzie, I too hope your Leisl is doing better.
No sports fans in this house hold, so I can't chime in on any game activities.
Lets see.......we have this wonderful "Virtual" bar here. I wonder if you can get "Virtual" cancer?
ibeer anyone?
iBeer is a virtual beer application that allows you to "virtually" drink a beer by tipping your iPhone sideways.
To start the application you press a large red button. What this has to do with drinking beer is not clear. In any case, on to the important part - drinking. Once the button is pressed you are presented with your virtual beer. The default settings have the beer making a loud gurgling noise not unlike the sound of a small animal drowning. You tip the iPhone, causing the beer level to decrease. When the beer is gone, the screen fades out, you hear a loud burp, and you're presented again with the mysterious red button.
Kathy I'll get back to you on when we will be in Nashville.
