That Try Harder looks and sounds very yummy!  But what is a tamarillo?  All I can think of is some sort of cross between a tomato and an armadillo, and I'm reasonably sure that's not right.

There's a local winery that makes a Berry Chocolate wine that is very, very decadent.  It's a little on the pricey side, and the bottle only holds 2 servings, but I do get it once or twice a year.  I've actually got some of the grain that's used to make chocolate wines, going to make a batch when I find a good recipe.

The day was very long, the meetings in the morning were very boring, but the afternoon one was surprisingly entertaining!   The 65 mile drive home in the pouring rain was less than amusing, however.  Supposed to be nice this weekend, though, so that will be nice.

I think the tamarillo has to be part of the Try Harder cause good luck finding one. Here's a link:

NM....a "Berry Chocolate Wine"...cannot even fathom how that would taste, although I LOVE chocolate! Let us know if you get to try to make that chocolate wine...or better yet, share some with us at the HTL....I would love to try that.

Beans, Really great pics! And I love your "Try Harder Cocktail"! Maybe we can all think of our favorite drinks, and have the TT's make them tomorrow night for Kitty's birthday...gotta have a big, big party!!

Got home safely, yay for that! Such a long drive, but after that first rotten day and that even more rotten hangover, I had a good time. They now have a "premier" area in the regular buffet...how funny is that! It is up higher, and they had tablecloths and flowers...and that moscato wine, so that was a winner!!! So, free rooms, free food, free drinks, and come home w/ more money that we took...I'll drink to that!

    TGIF girls!

The meetng was about communication in the 21st century (I teach in a university) and the first 2 speakers were local faculty--one a writing teacher who came from a farm family that didn't talk much, who now teaches online and has 7 e-mail addresses.  Another was an English Professor who was dragged "kicking and screaming into the 21st century." Third was a student who talked about her experience spending hours searching for a computer to use to do class work while she was touring in Africa and then finding a native with an iPod in a place with no dependable electricity and no internet connectivity.  The last speaker was a professor who studies communication and has written several books.  She shared some of the more surprising research findings (women prefer talking on cell phones, men prefer texting)  (Americans pretend to talk on the cell phone to avoid talking to a stranger, Swedes think of this as lying and wonder why we'd do that since strangers don't approach strangers there).  The funniest thing is that she, a professor specializing in communiation using technology does NOT ALLOW computers/lap tops in her classrooms!  Very funny stories made for an entertaining afternoon.

_happy-birthday.gif bday wish image by momma2dawsonKitty, have a great birthday.   Glad you were able to attend the wedding and enjoyed your trip.   Have fun with the TA-TAs!!    Don't forget your party at the HTL tonight--Jocks and Pants and the wenches are super busy getting things ready!!!!

dH is off to a wedding this week end--long story as to why I opted out but mostly involves people from his previous life that I barely know.   So, I'm dropping Pancho off at the pet park--Stanzie, I hope Liesel is feeling better and can come play.   And, NM, is Sadie ready for some doggie play?  I'm spending the rest of the day at the pool, relaxing and bugging Jocks to keep my dog beers iced down.   I'll be ready to Par-Tay tonight!

Maybe Wahine will join me at the pool--unless she's busy in our casino!  Glad you came home ahead--that always makes the next trip that much more fun!!!  NM---you need to join us and get your mind right--glad you had fun sitting through a meeting, but I seriously think it sounds like you need a drink!   And, Claire--you need to check your bike and tool kit at the door and come join us for a nice, relaxing afternoon at the pool!!!

Everybody--come for an afternoon pool party.   Jocks will bring Hunk in to take care of us while they set up for Kitty's birthday bash!!!   Plenty of hammocks and chairs for those who don't want to swim.   HD, Jocks promises to have the Ryder Cup on the big screen!   Lori--sneak away from work for just a little bit!!!!

HUGGGSSSSS to ALL--see you at the pool!

Wahoo! Afternoon pool party. I just love....  cake.

    Happy birthday Heather!

Stanzie - well I know how to make my dachshund pee on DH's t-shirt. Does that help? He'll go on a bath towel too but not on command.

NM - funny about the cell phone... I pretend I'm on the phone when I walk thru the mall because we have kiosks where they try to put stuff on you or ask you what you wipe with... I hate the mall anyway and I just want to get what I need and get outa there. If strangers don't approach strangers how do they sell ProActive in Sweden?

But you know you will, once you party at the HTL! Love your comment on how to know if you're drunk....LOL! Now, is there a large enough cake for Jocks to come out of??? Puleez lets not do the limbo, though........

Heather, Hope your birthday has been great so far, and hope you show up here tonight and PARTAY!!!!

    Happy Birthday Kitty!

Sadie is ALWAYS ready for some play time.  She scared me silly this afternoon--left her tied out while I went to the movies with a friend.  Came home and found her loose in the back yard--her tie out got tangled on a branch and she had slipped her collar.  No way to know how long she'd been loose, and I hope she hadn't been running the neighborhood. . .

Junie--can we go sharsies on the b-day cake hunk-a-rama you brought?

It is an absolutely beautiful morning.  I'm going to hang out some clothes to dry and then maybe work in the garden for a while.  I hope I've got some tomatoes to pick!

    Garden Tomato Cocktail

    Mix in blender:

1 ripe tomato, 1 ounce spiced rum, dash of lemon juice 1 dash worcestershire sauce, salt to taste.

    Serve over ice.

NM, You are right....it is a GAWGEOUS morning here too! Hope you have some maters to pick....ours all shriveled up when we had over 100 temps for a month...w/ no rain! Was not able to water them enough for that. Now its only getting up to 60's and 70's for highs...YAY! Sounds like a bloody mary but with rum....anxious to try that! And then will fill up at the buffet...I just love Sunday mornings here at the HTL!!!

Heather, When you get up after that long night, want to hear how your birthday went! I didn't see you here last night, unless your were incognito....but lots of celebrating in your honor!!!

    Salut to Sunday!

Got a good bit of the garden weeded and tended.  The baby lupine I planted last summer are going to be big, robust plants ready for transplanting onto the hillside next spring.  The wind the other day pushed the tomato plants over, had set them back up in their cages so that they can get some sun so the bumpercrop of tomatos sitting out there can start getting red!  I am going to be able to make SO much tomato sauce when they ripen up, I am so excited.  I really didn't think I'd get anything out of the garden this year of any amount where I couldn't work in it so much but my 4 tomato plants are going to great guns and are proving me VERY wrong!  I love it!  Got to harvest some thyme and greek oregano to dry, I may do that a little later today, maybe.  Got to harvest some mint, too, so I can have nice mint tea this winter.  And the current batch of mint wine is going to be wonderful!  Gonna have to make a much bigger batch next summer, or several batches, maybe.  The baby batch of blueberry wine came out really good, too, a freind and I tried a little bottle yesterday and I was surprised.  This wine making is turning out to be a lot of fun!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!  I had a great birthday.  Lady Madonna and I went to the Ta Ta meet and greet on Friday night.  We hung out with the girls for about an hour, but I was kind of tired (just had chemo on Wednesday).  And I just started getting neuropathy in my toes (fun). I am a party pooper - LOL!  Saturday, my DH and I went shopping and had lunch.  It was a nice relaxing day.  Then today we had a brunch at the house.  When I woke up this morning, I started to question why I had decided to have a party.  But once I got up and started to get things ready, I was doing okay.  I had a couple mimosas - Woo Hoo!  It was nice to have friends and family over!  So... I haven't been online to get everyone's wishes!  :)

Kittycat......so glad you had a wonderful birthday.

And it was OK being a party pooper the other day.  As a matter of fact, you will never have such a great excuse again in your life, so make sure you milk it.

One thing I recommend is doing what I did and have a REAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION once you can imbibe appropriately.  Or just a celebration.  I make sure I continue down this vein.

So wonderful to be able to do this once again. - Claire

Happy Sunday Hangovers to everyone!!!   Great birthday bash for Kitty!!!

NM--how do you dry your herbs??   The only thing I have is a bed of Thyme and it is the only thing the wild critters have left alone.   I usually just go out and snip off a few stems to cook with--have never thought to dry and preserve any.....just curious.....

Have had several absolutely glorious days....filled my deck birdfeeders yesterday and had fun with my binoculars and bird book to see if anything new came along.........this morning, went out and the feeders were all empty and stepped in animal poo on the deck......friggin' raccoons!!!   I am getting totally disenchanted with this rural life!!!!   Makes it easy to justify my dog beers!!!!

Heading to our cyber casino for a few rounds of 3 card poker, then out to the pool for a massage and then will float in the pool until my bucket o beer is empty!   And then, well....I'll just ask Jocks to fill it up again!!!

    huggsss to ALL!

N.M. - I agree with AStorm - I jealous! My neighbor has a lovely garden and they left yesterday to go out of town and said I could help myself so I went down to see what all they had. Got eggplant, lots of different lettuces, sadly no tomatoes yet, radishes, and what I originally thought were snow peas or snap peas but turned out were lima beans! Can you tell I'm a city girl? They will have okra shortly and squash.

I wanted to try a garden but with the diagnosis and surgery and all I never got the section cleared out and now am wondering if I even have enough sun but N.M. sounds like you have the green thumb extrordinair! If that is how you spell it? That must be so wonderful! Oh but also found out we have a bunny in the yard which is awfully cute. I told my neighbors about it and she was thinking it was ...... well shoot can't think of what animal she thought was eating the cabbage but it didn't make as much sense as the bunny.

Today is the first day of filming and you wouldn't believe the new exercise craze here - everyone seems to be in a walking freezy. Will have to go take a stroll myself and report back!

Ok...going to try and catch up on, I think, 3 pages of posts!

Beans, I LOVE your poetry and LOVE your KICK ASS. Just sorry treatment is kicking yours.

MrsN, I had to chuckle at your "Big Baffoon" label. I think people (including family and spouses) say things before thinking about what it is they are going to say and how it will affect us. I am glad you forgave him. Not preaching, as I have my own bad habits, but they say diet soda is really bad for you. You are better off drinking the regular stuff if you are going to drink soda at all. Same goes for coffee, the decaf stuff is worse for you. It's the chemicals they have to use to make them diet/decaf.. Hahahaha, don't give up the wine tho!

Beans, now laughing at your quote: "don't poo anything I wouldn't poo" LOVE IT!

Heather, I hope your party was a smash and everyone watched their own little heathens, I mean children!

Kathy, sorry ‘bout the hangover at the casino, but sure glad the Gambling God's were able to give back.

Oh Stanzie, I sorry to hear about Leisl, and hope I will read some good news later on.....but having your pooch pee in a cup? I would certainly love to see video of that. And if the movie crew sees it, they certainly won't want to be filming at your house!

NM, I love lupines! I have tried to grow them here, but no go! L

Junie, I hear ya on the critters! I would love to feed the birds. There are not too many to feed (as in different species) but I get way too many other critters that I don't want! My hummers are thinning out, so looks like they are starting to head south.

HD, hope ur outta that funk girl!

Well, we had LOTS of people stop by our booth. Did not sell much, but got the word out. It is really rough doing these shows, just standing for 8+ hours for 3 days. I can't tell you what all hurts. So I will just say "EVERYTHING"! I put up a donation jar, as we donate to BC research, pins and bracelets for those that donate, a picture of me when I was bald but wearing a scarf that said I was a survivor and to look for me in the booth. In 3 days we got.................wait for it.......................w a i t...........................$4.50! I was surprised at that. Ok, on another note.....my grandson was finally tested and we got an email from Darrell's daughter while we were away, but as I have been trying to tell her, he has Aspergars, which is a form of Autism. And get this, the husband is still fighting her on having treatment! Doesn't want his son having that "label". But what makes it worse, is the kindergarten class he is in, has 35 kids in it! How ridiculous is that? Boy do I feel for THAT teacher.

Ok, I am late at getting into the shower. Wasn't as much to catch up on as I thought there would be! Did I miss Stanzie trying catch the pee in a cup from Leisl? I hope everyone is well and well.....DRUNK!
