Happy Birthday Jodi - how about a Stinger!
I so adore my wonderful cousin, spent most of the day with her and she so cheered me up! She is the one person who totally was there for me as soon as I was diagnosed and still is there for me. Her Dad was my Mom's little brother - but her Mom (my aunt) died of breast cancer and she took care of her so she knew all about it. Her oldest (beautiful) daughter is in collge but doing some debutant thing over Christmas so my cousin along with some other Mom's are doing a party. Trying to avoid the whole drinking/nighttime party problems they are doing a Yoga luncheon??? Interesting so we went shopping today for fake bamboo trees. How funny is that? Anyway showed her my new nipples and such and she agreed they are totally fake and odd looking .... for some reason that actually helped. I guess not feeling like I wanted too much... like what I had to begin with or at least a good copy.
Oh whoops there is another page of posts that if I go to them now I'll lose what I've written. do you all do this?
Heard from my son's teacher.... sigh... all she said was the bus driver is the last one to arrive but that is normal so that doesn't help... so on to call the county transportation tomorrow.
I sing in a choir that my highschool choir teacher is the music director - he is now 82 and his wife who was my voice teacher when I was young is now 85 and two years ago won the World's best voice teacher award - no kidding. Last year out of 4 slots for the Met. Opera in New York, three of the slots were filled with her students and she started a school in Austria! They are just the most amazing people - sharp at can be remember and know everything ! I used to try and find odd things to bring up and they alway knew about them all! Anway I've been driving Mr. C. to choir mainly cause it is late at night and I worry about him ( 30-45 min. drive), he tells fabulous stories anyway, the chuch hired the lead soprano's cousin who is a composer to be residence and he came tonight to play and Wow! totally amazing. On the way home Mr. C. who is pretty fabulous himself with tons of CD's and a website and such.. admitted he was intimated and in awe of this composer!! That totally blew me away, this 82 year old man who survied polio, liver and lung cancer and who used to play for parties while reading James Bond books as he played is intimated?? Such interesting and wonderful people! If I can just remember that fabulous people like that and my funny amazing kids then I'll be OK and get through the depression and wanting to be "normal". At least that is what I'm going for today. Sorry this is long and probably boring....
One last thing.... did anyone else's local news yestreday have that horrible story about how taking hormone replacement therapy makes you at a much much higher risk for breast cancer than previously thought but also gives you a higher chance of dying from breast cancer! Well, I went into very early menopause - 37! so at 42 I was put on extremely high doses of hormone replacement therapy just to be able to function expecially with three very young kids. So I was on extra high doses for 8 years - according to that story - that is very bad.... well guess it is too late now but boy I felt so great with all that estrogen and progestrone....this whole menopause thing is just horrid. Ok. I"ll stop!!! happy Thursday

Jodi, I was able to try the Tiramisu Cocktail that AStorm posted. Just had Pants make it up for me, and it was sooooooo scrumptious!!! After all, this IS a DRINKING THREAD so we get to drink as much as we want, of whatever we want! LOL. Hope your birthday was fantabulous!!!
Stanzie, Interesting friends you have;what amazing accomplishments! Glad you were able to show your cousin your nips, so now you know it is not just your imagination. Hope maybe Earleen can fix them! You deserve to be made back as normal as possible!!!
NM, What a gorgeous birthday drink in honor of Jodi's birthday! Looks so festive!!!! Lets get Pants and Jocks to make up a bunch of them and line them up on the bar....how impressive would that be! Then we can indulge to our heart's content. Yup Jodi, you gotta share....LOL.
Lotta empty bar stools here lately. Jaybird, I see the one with your name on it has been empty tooo long....c'mon back! You too, Dee! And HD, you aren't staying long enough; I miss your long, funny posts! Maybe we need to concentrate more on drinking!
BARMEN!

NativeMainer - that looks good enough to try for breakfast this morning. I moved to Seattle from Maine actually. Husband grew up in Brunswick, son went to Bowdoin, I grew up in Boston. I really, really miss the east coast even all these years later.
AStorm and Wahine - that Tiramisu Cocktail was an awesome dessert last night.
Starting today, I will share my drinks. I have a huge kitchen island and will get them all lined up. I think I will need my son to help me figure out how to display any drinks though
Had some great appetizers last night at happy hour at the little Italian restaurant - baby muffaletta's, amazing pizza bites, gnocci and more - I ate it all and then dinner and then went to new home of my son and his wife for lemon/almond torte. I am doing everything I can to make sure I gain as much weight as possible. I am already 25 lbs overweight so what the hell, winter is coming and I need to stay warm.

Jodi, Glad your birthday was great! I think I am joining you on "making sure I gain as much weight as possible"....not that I need to either; quite the opposite. But that WAS funny! So glad all the drinks, food, etc here at the HTL (Hot Tatties Lounge) are calorie-free...LOL.
Beans, Hope you are having safe travels today!
Lori, You too....hope you are still having fun on your trip...and that all your travels will be safe. Can't wait to hear about all your adventures.....join us around the pool when you return home.
Is it Happy Hour YET???????????

Stanzie - that is shocking about the HRT. I was at a bc talk a few nights ago, mostly attended by nurses but a few survivors in the mix... anyway, I went because there were doctors there and I'm always keeping tabs on them. The gyno actually said that birth control and HRT do not cause breast cancer. She went on to say that she might but a bc survivor on hormones depending on the patient's risk factors for recurrence and the reason for the hormones (e.g., not having sex is ruining her marriage). And I'm thinking... I'd fake it and/or make DH get snipped before I'd take hormones at this stage in my life! How would the patient's husband feel if she had a recurrence just so she could actually be interested in sex instead of faking it? Maybe I just don't undertand the issues -? well needless to say, I won't be going to that gyno.
When I was looking for a recipe for a Hot Flash cocktail the other day, I found one that is seriously for hot flashes and it's all vitamins. In the same article, it said that in several recent studies, they found no connection between alcohol and hot flashes. Actually the light drinker has less trouble than the non-drinker. Not sure if tamoxifen induced hot flashes are different...
Yes, Kathy it's always happy hour here! Join me at the bar for a Tanq & Tonic?

Thanks for saving me a barstool, Gail! I think I will have a (large) glass of Moscato wine, please. Looks like the wenches put out some appetizers for us today. Yummm! And fresh raw oysters, boiled shrimp, and so much more! Happy Hour everyone!

Junie - how's it going?
Tori - hang in there with me! My last is Dec. 6th (at least that's the schedule for now), we will get through this! i will ask the lovely ladies here to drink a lot of wine for me and a lot of cold beer for you!
Wahine - I told you that pic was scarEE! Sorry if it freaked you out, I get to see her on Tues. J/K my nurses, except for that one that I haven't seen again have been real nice. LOL at your frisky talk with Jocks. So what did he bring you? Thanks for the well wishes for my travels, it worked and I got here safely, many thanks!! I miss Lori too and all those other tipsy gals! It is happy hour and I'm grabbing every drink I can find. (don't tell, but I even sip out what's left in the empties - tee hee). Geeeaaawwwd it's noisy here compared with my mountain retreat. Will have to get used to neighbor riding motorcycle, dogs, cars, etc. But my cabin is so nice!!
Jodi - so how was your BD? Did you get plastered like I did in celebration for you??? Hope it was a great day.
AStorm - what a beautiful DOTD, Tiramisu Cocktail, yummy! And I totally enjoyed the BD party for jodi - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Stanzie - Your cousin sounds awesome. We all need someone like that who will be there for us. It's so good to be with people who understand and have seen cancer in all stages, even the last ones. The fake bamboo trees do sound funny, but fun. Isn't it nice when someone will be honest, even about how your nipples really look? What about Earleen?? ( BTW- I saw two neighbors yesterday and they could tell by looking at me something has changed. I decided to tell them and one told me my hair does look thin and that it used to be so thick and pretty. I was truly glad for the honesty. They also told me about their similar kinds of problems so it turned out really nice. Most people in WA either know someone or have had bc it seems! We were able to share about some other issues too. Anyway it was kinda nice. I know I look like I've been going through hell and somehow I'm glad for the confirmation of it.)
I lose posts all the time, so usually try to type into Word first now. It's frustrating.
I loved your story about Mr. C, he sounds like a wonderful and interesting person to know. Not a bit boring! As for hormone replacement...my DH said a while back he heard something about that on the radio and he was all freaked out, but I don't know. I do know that my mom developed bc when she retired and moved and got a new doc who put her on some kind of hormones. She was 59 and I wish I knew more...she had a normal exam/mamo with the new dr and within 6 mo had grown a tennis ball sized tumor and was stg IV bc. Then the lab lost he tumor or something and her onc had to shoot in the dark with tx. He gave her 1 year of CMF, the very same thing I'm on now only my tx is 5 months or so. Really weird. Good to ask questions about taking hormones. I couldn't agree more that menopause is awful.
AStorm - thanks for your input on the HRT thing. It is such a curious topic. With my bc so hormone positive and oncotype score so low, I can help but think it was the estrogen my mom got that drove her cells crazy into such a fast growing tumor. She had had a hysterect but no ooph due to female probs, then when she got bc years later she was cured of it, then excruciatingly sadly after 13 years she dev'd a new primary ovarian cancer that took her within 2 years. And see you are right, I'm a light drinker and I've had 0 hot flashes.
So I survived my drive for 8 hours. DH will join me in 2 days. I calculated the average # of pit stops and standard deviation for future reference, per # of fluid ounces over time. Just kidding!!!!! AStorm I don't know the driver's license number thing you did, but I was thinking about Black Jack and counting cards across the state. Just need to get to that casino down the street and I think I'm on a hot streak. It is total happy hour here. Cheers and Happy Hour to All!! And have a happy Friday!! I see my rad onc tomorrow.......whoopeee flippin dooooooooooo!

ooo, Moscato sounds good too! I think I'll have a glass of wine after the gin, I've had a tough day. DD is truant again... other DD let the wiener-dog in my room and he chewed up my expensive new panties (which I don't usually leave on the floor, but you know how that just happens some times...
0 -
LMAO at AStorm! I will join you for a small taste of something. Mine drink will not be virtual either. I have had kinda a rough week myself. No chewed panties however! Cheers HD

I am pulling up a stool - tonight I am having a Moscow Mule because my son had one last night and it looked interesting. I had two sips of non-virtual chianti last night with permission to have up to six ounces from the med onc just this once. But as good as it tasted, I decided I preferred this bar for now. I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get the pic and recipe on here....
I did get a bit out of control last night after all the drinks here at the best bar around right now - lost my panties though and they were my good ones.

Happy Happy Hour everyone! Hmmmmm, the bar looks empty but I'll bet I find some of you out at the pool. Give me a few minutes for Jocks to ice down my dog beers and I'll come out and join you. I need to find Pants first--I want a massage. Then, gonna see if Candy can give me a pedi!! Been working hard! We've got the dumpster totally filled--seems like we've barely made a dent in all the crap in the garage. I thought we'd be having some big fights, but we have laughed our butts off!!!--so far!! Have a couple days rest until dumpster is emptied and we can start in again!!!
AStorm--that Tiramisu drink looks wonderful! Just seeing the word makes me smile.....lovely dinner at a little Italian trattoria; much Vino; watching gondolas glide by--and most perfect Tiramisu dessert----great memory of my last trip to Venice. Bottoms up to Tiramisu!!!!!
Happy belated birthday, Jodi. Yeah, you do have to share your drinks here!!! If you don't, there are couple of sneaky lounge lizards who will snatch your drink when you're not looking!!! Lol--just kidding--all we have to do is wave our hand and a refill magically appears! Sounds like you had a great evening.
Looks my dog beers are chilled--heading to the pool. We need to plan another party!!! Happy TGIF to everyone................
Cheers to big ears; cHairs; bottoms up-------BARMEN!!!!!

Gosh, am I ever late to this party, so just now having a glass of wine. Just a lot of work, and the thing I had to do that I though would take an hour ended up taking 2.5 hours.
I am now the new Mme Vice President of the cycling club I belong to. Ran on a platform of "pie and microbrew".
Just sent out something I promised to have out by Friday AM, so have that one off my plate.
Beans....I can only imagine the noise. And yes, December 6 will be here sooner than you know it.
A-storm.....I'm not touching that "weiner" line!!!
Cheers. Fortunately, my bed is close by.

I have just snorted ML half-way across the room--luckily, I missed the keyboard this time!!!
Many pages back, I thought there was a toast to chairs, but guess I didn't get it quite right.
Will amend my toast to say--cheers and bottoms up to cHairs (or lack thereof)...goes hand in hand with missing weiners and panties!!!!
Y'all are a hoot! Jocks and Pants are gonna be plumb wore out tomorrow!!!!!!

WHEW...glad to see that Gail has found her weiner! Nice to see your avatar again...and a cute new one at that! YUP everyone, it sure was some party last night! Ha, Ha...junie I can just imagine that ML going across the room! I think HD (correct me if I'm wrong) was surprised to see "Chairs" written the way you did. Usually when some are in caps, it has been ChEARS (short for "Cheers Big Ears"). LOL...or else that is just the way *I* read it. You are correct that there is a "Chairs" cheer from waaay back...think maybe it was even HD that thought of it???? But puleez, write your cheers however you want to....this is our place to be silly, have fun, etc. And we sure have a good group of loungettes to have fun and party with!!
Only reason I am up so early is the #%^&*## delivery guy woke us up AGAIN B4 7 am....WTH??? When he did that the other morn, DH asked him to call back later that day w/a number where we could call him back. Nooooooooooo....instead he wakes us up again! Hard to get up early when we are partying hard all night (or at least watching tv till the wee hrs)! Can't understand people that make the same mistake again so soon. AARRRGGGHHHHHHH.....HD I may need your gun here. J/K...but I hate waking up like that when you are in a deep sleep. OK, grumpy me needs to get in a better mood.....ummmm Pants, be a dear and bring me a "voltage" from Gloria Jeans....that should wake me up (3 shots of espresso)! Then maybe follow that with some Bloody Mary's...or that pretty "SIlk Panty" drink that Gail discovered. We have such good bartenderrs here!!!! And now to repeat that drinking prayer someone submitted (Lori? HD? Junie?..can't remember but I *think* it was Lori!). Followed by......
BARMEN

My that was a great party last night,gals...LOL! I still have cHairs and chewed up panties all over the place this morning, but thank goodness AStorm found her weiner!!! So cute, adorable pic! I'm up early too, wahine, to get ready to see my rad onc. I'm going to wash my hair so maybe it won't look so thin. (You know the story that the CMF ladies say to do very little with hair to keep it through tx, so I do very little and it shows!! Cousin It is for real here!) So I'm having my usual cheerios n vodka and coffee with Irish Whisky and Cream (no pills right now 'sept for vitamins (gosh that is so nice!), yum what a good start to the day and it will put me in a rad rad mood.
I'll repeat Lori's prayer: "Blah, blah, blah (I have to say that cuz I don't know the prayer) - BARMEN"
Yipee-Aye-O-Tye-AAAAA! Off I go for ra - ra - ra - rad planin.'
0 -
Beanius - Hope your rad planning is really really RAD!
0 -
Yeah, we need to have someone post that "drinking" spoof on the lord's prayer again! It was funny, and taken in a non-judgemental manner....just for fun! That's where we got the "Barmen!" instead of "Amen".
Beans, your posts always crack me up! Soooooo creative and funny. Hope you have a RAD-ICAL day today! Sorry you had to get up early to do that, but hope it is tolerable and you feel ok afterwards.
Ciao for Niao!

WOO! AStorm, that drink really woke me up this morning--oops, afternoon! Long day yesterday ending with dinner and theater with a bunch of freinds. Got home wwwaaaaaayyyy after my usual bedtime, totally jacked on caffiene and fun, thought I'd have trouble falling asleep. Woke up at 9 when the phone rang (dang telemarketers)! I haven't slept that hard or that long in ages and it felt sooooo good!
I noticed the tenders and wenches have decorated the lounge for us--very imaginative and somewhat suggestive, too! I wonder where they got the idea?

Beanius-
Thanks for the encouragement! I know we will definitely get though this!
Mmmmmm...cold beer (wine for you)...why does it sound good right now? Prolly because I can't have it...Poo!
Is it just me or is everything going so slowly? Before all this mess, it seemed as though the weeks and months flew by...now...it just dragging and dragging by...
At least Halloween keeps my mind occupied..friggin' love that holiday...just a big kid at heart..and love me some candy corn and peanuts...mmmmmmm
Have a great day!
Cheers!
