    Hi everyone. I was just cryin in my beer until I read Dee's post... Dee it's good to see you but I'm so sorry about your pain. That just sucks! I know it's bad to wish for something like osteoarthritis but in this neighbor, I'm just sayin... I have a little OA myself but it hasn't gotten bad enough to complain about. It has actually gotten better since I started taking tamoxifen... again, is that a blessing?

    HD - what is that creeeepy thing? I think you should have the option of Jackson from Wisteria Lane - you've paid your dues.

    Wiener-dog is officially a wiener and I'm working on costumes for the corgi (queen of course) and cats (one is a pumpkin and haven't decided on the other). I'll try to post photos.

    Hi everyone....

    Dee, I am so sorry.  Hoping that it is something chronic and no fun.  Drinking to that right now.

    Just got an invite to a Halloween Party with one of the cycling groups so will try to get a good costume going.  You won't believe this, but I REALLY DID run into the Mad Hatter's Tea Party walking over to my informational interview.  It went relatively well, but the question of fit was still open.  Person said he would noodle it.  Fortunately, he believed the story.   (Took a pic on my cell phone just in case.)

    Helped out a lady in need on my way back.  Lady had leftover candy from an office party....a laundry basket full of it.

    Hair is looking great.  Washed and blow dried it as per instructions.

    Finally finished up making the prunes.  They were delish, with raw sugar, brandy and heavy cream.  Got this idea from a Burgundian tart which has them poached in Armangac.  I use brandy.  Yes, they go just fine with the Pinot.  (Which went just fine with leftover lamb, and fresh veggies.)

    I was thrilled to give old Jackson the boot about a year ago.  Would much more like to snuggle up to my sweetie.  Was way overcrowded with three of us there.  Guess who went???

    Have two Halloween themed rides planned for this weekend.

    Junie.....a dumpster party sounds fab.  A friend of mine orders one every year for Mother's Day.

    Still have a bit of Pinot left.

    Good morning, Loungettes!  I feel much better after getting a good night's sleep, with a bit of chemical assistance.  A couple of my students are making life miserable at work, and Monday is going to be a VERY difficult day, but I am determined to enjoy the weekend.  Got to come up with a good Halloween costume for the partay, still don't know what to be. 

    Dee--hope the pain doc can help, chronic pain is so miserable to live with.  It drains the energy and life right out of you. 

    Wahine--glad you didn't get caught up in the traffic jam by the fire! The only time that's fun is when you are close enough to see what's going on.  Maybe fun isn't the right word, but you knowwhat I mean. 

    Let's see, what kind of Halloweeny drink can I find for today?  I know--Halloween Punch for today, something REALLY eerie and scary for tomorrow!

    Ohhhhhh NM, that looks real bewitching! Would look good sitting next to the severed foot (looks soooo real with blood and torn pants leg!) and big rat I bought yesterday! I didn't get Halloweenie stuff out this year, so HAD to buy something!!! LOL. Thought I would scare DH yesterday by putting the rat in the kitchen, but he was wise to me. Thanks for the kewl drink!!!

    Junie, are you surviving the company? Feeling better? Maybe they will do things for YOU this time, and you can relax (or is that just a wishful dream?)!

    HD, Wowsa.........or should I say Bowsa? What a fantastic photoshop job. (or whatever program was used) I have seen a lot of those where someone has incorporated two different animals, mostly a head and a body. But this one is truely freaky. I am going to share it on Facebook. Gives me the willies!

    Well I got 2 of my boxes from TN. Called to see where the 3rd one was. It left Phoenix, had a stop in TN and is currently on its way to Shreveport LA? WTF? Now I have to call Monday morning and try to catch it at their hub before it gets put on another truck....and who knows where it will be sent then. When we did the paperwork, we used our address as the ship from and the ship to. And the phone number is on there! If they lose this, I am going to be so pissed. It had an old school desk chair in it. Just the chair, perfect for the school house our in the old west town. Especially since it only cost $10. Those things are usually pretty expensive, and we don't want to spend alot of money on things that are going to just sit outside in the elements.

    Guess I'll be a Saloon Girl!

    WOW Lori...sexy costume....it DOES fit right in with your OLD WEST TOWN...purrfect! Sorry about your package...sure hope you get it, intact. I just had a pkg returned yesterday that I had sent Priority Mail to FL...somehow the address part got ripped off after it got to FL...WTH? SO I had to go back to post office and resend it.

    OK, just HAD to post some cute dog costumes (the devil made me do it!)....

     wear a sauce pan upside down on your head....What are you?    A Pot Head !!

    carry a toy airplane in your hand.......What are you?      An Aircraft Carrier  !!

    Attach cigarette butts to a hat.....What are you?     A BUTT-HEAD  !!

    walk around with papers in your hand.  when someone asks you what you are--rip up a piece of paper....you're a PAPER SHREDDER !!

    I have an empty sauce pan.  Guess I will work on that costume.  We are watching game three of series.  Hope it is close game.  Pizza and beer for us tonight.  Not sharing with trick or treaters.  They don't come around much anymore anyway.  I will just be waiting for the party to start.  Happy early Halloweiner!  Hunkydory

    I got back after Pedaling for Postumous Pastures.  (Real name for a ride.)  We got soaked and downsized to eliminate the major hills and descents on wet leaves.  Feel much better, especially after a hot bath.  Tomorrow, we visit Jimi Hendrix' bones, with a party in the evening.

    Amazingly nasty here this afternoon.

    Ready to PAR-TAY.

    Need to get downstairs as they are giving out candy.  Then over to Met Market for a few things including the rest of what I need for chicken paprika.  (I bought warm peppers by mistake, so need to make this dish.)

    And of course wine to go with everything.

    Hi fellow drunkettes! Just got home, its after 7 pm, and starting happy hour soooo late...but better late than never! Our flooring guy spent all day (by himself) putting in new kitchen floors in our townhouse....I kept busy spackling nail holes, putting in peep hole in steel door, driving back to our house for stuff we needed, soooo often, etc. T-I-R-E-D! Junie, I LOVE your funny costume ideas!!!! So creative! One year a teen guy came trick-or-treating with a big bow over his clothes...he said he is "God's Gift to Women"! I cracked up over that one.

    Love your avatar, HD! Beans, your catwoman outfit is SUPER!!!! WOWSA!!!! Is the party tonight? If so, I need to get ready freddie. Or is it tomorrow night, since that is really Halloween? Anyone get trick-or-treaters tonight? Since I just got home, not sure if anyone came by, but I am only giving out treats tomorrow night!!!!

    I've just been busy, busy, busy. A busy Summer and so far a busy Fall. The more I fly the ore I make so I fly as much as my family can tolerate watching Avery! lol.

    Was on vacation all this week so I did a lot of yardwork (and the trees still aren't done shedding) and am finally putting togetehr all the IKEA furniture I bought 2 months ago!

    I recently found a decent cab, by Cupcake vineyards in CA. I'm trying to stay away from scotch because what I like is too expensive and I haven't gotten any deals lately from the U.K. I could try NOT drinking, to save some money, but why? I work too hard not to deserve it! lol.

    I hope everyone here has a Happy Halloween. I'll take Avery around Sunday for some trick-or-treating and I'll post the pics on Facebook.

    This nightcap is sure to lull you to sleep.

    Ingredients

    • 4 Oz Steamed or scalded milk
    • 2 Oz Dark rum (like Goslings or Meyer's)
    • 1 Oz Simple Syrup

    Directions

    Pour rum and simple syrup into the steamed milk

    Vampire ElixirA splash of pomegranate juice added at the end gives this drink a bloody look.Ingredients Per Cocktail 1-1/2 ounces vodka Less than 1 ounce apricot brandy 1 ounce fresh lime juice (slightly
    sweetened) Club soda Splash of pomegranate juice PreparationPour vodka, apricot brandy and
    lime juice over ice in a highball
    glass. Top off with club soda. Garnish with a splash of
    pomegranate juice. Party guys and ghouls will enjoy a garnish of "severed fingers" in the form of curved orange peels crawling over the edge of the glass.

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! I do hope I didn't miss the party last night, and that it is really tonight! LOVE, LOVE,LOVE all the pics...Lori that big butt jack-o-lantern is a riot, NM I esp love those finger thingies....they look soooooo neat! Chrissy, what in the world is that (cake?) ?  So eerie looking; awesome! This fabtabulous buffet and other-worldly drinks are really getting me in the mood for this spooky day! Think I'll start with some of those scary, weird drinks!!!!

    Jaybird, Sooooo nice "seeing" you here again! Can't wait to see a pic of Avery in her costume! Hope the weather is nice there so she can have a fun time trick-or-treating (emphasis on the treats!).     How about right now??? I am actually starting happy hour an hr early Surprised so I won't scare the kiddies! Then I will come to our fab PARTAY!!!! Can't wait to see our TT's in person in their itty-bitty pizza box costumes. And I hope the firemen come just as they are!Wink PaRtY HeArTy!
