Poor Liesl, she is sure going through a lot. But was happy to hear that some food stayed down and her tummy worked! Now to get Sean to quit feeding her chicken.....but you know he is just trying to be kind to her, he doesn't realize she can't eat that. You do have all our support and concern....a lot of us have fur babies and have been through the happy times with our pets and also the sad times. And the sad times can seem like a big pit you can't climb out of. Hang in there, Stanzie! Oh, and that was junie with the story about wearing the bra outside of her shirt. I don't even wear bras anymore, but I also am not as good a story teller as junie is. She just knows how to write about the funny things that happen! Hope Liesl (and you) will get some sleep tonight. I know....you can have a feeding tube too, but have it connected to the percotini fountain or the mimosa fountain.....THAT might relax you! Just kidding....but keep us posted on how she is doing.

Hey barflies, is our party tonight????? If so, I better get over there and join the fun!

Stanzie - I also have a special needs child (adult actually).  How has your dealt with your diagnosis?

Where the heck are the other loungettes this evening?  Do I get Jock and Pants all to myself?

I need to get to the PAR-TAY.  Was out cycling a good part of the day, then stopped in for a beer afterwards.  Was almost dark by the time I got home.

Then a hot bath as need one after 40 miles in this damp November air.  But NO RAIN....only damp, so a great day for riding.

Will take a massage about now, and maybe some wine.

Wow. I just cannot keep up with you gals! I'm too busy working I guess! Frown

Welcome to all the 'newbies'! The bar is always open! Smile

I hope all the 'sickies' are feeling better. If not perhaps a hot toddy is in order?

I'm glad that Liesl is feeling better. I love my daughter but I love my dogs, too!

Love the Farrah-like hair, Lori. I covet it! Can't wait to see the new haircut pics!

I'm home after a 6-day absence. I hate that about my job but my job pays the bills so hopefully Avery will understand (and someday appreciate?) what I do for her/us. Bought some cheap clothes in London for her (quality, just cheaper and more her size than American-made-in-China stuff) and for myself some excellent scotch. (Tomintoul 16 year - very balanced, very smooth)

Well, cheers to all! I will enjoy my scotch until the laundry is done.....

Stanzie-poor Leisl! I can't imagine how hard the last few days have been for you. I hope Leisl gets the chicken out of her system soon so she and you can breathe easier soon.

Claire-hot baths and massages are wonderful things, aren't they? I scheduled an appointment for every 2 weeks through February with my massage therapist. I don't what it is about a massage that makes everything look better, but it works and I'll take it!

Jaybird-16 year old scotch? Wow. Did you give the tenders info about where you got it so they can stock up for us? Or are you keeping it your secret? Don't blame you if you do-one perc of traveling so much!

Raincitygirl-every once in a while it works out that you get the whole lounge and all the tenders, wenches, food and drink to yourself. When that happens just sit back and enjoy being treated like a queen!

Here's a DOTD:  A Get Well Breakfast Cocktail

    1 oz Red Wine
    1 oz Ruby Port
    1 Egg Yolk
    3/4 oz Cream
    3 oz Milk
    1/2 tsp Powdered Sugar
    1 pinch Nutmeg

Whoops sorry Junie - probably should have know it was you! Anyway, hilarious.

Still throwing up chicken but doing Ok.... We go back in for a check up tomorrow.

My ex is coming over to put up a temporary fence so I won't be searching for her all over this big yard. That should help a bit.

Raincity girl - I think one word is missing so not sure exactly what you are saying/asking but then I'm awfully tired....

My big goal today besides Liesl is just to get to the grocery store - my kids have been troopers about left overs and pizza but time to get cooking so to speak in reality.

    Hello Ladies,

Just wanted to say Hello and cheers!  I have not been posting for a while....especially since this thread is so nice and fun and lighthearted and I have been feeling anything but lately.

I am OK, just going through the ups and downs of life (reconstruction, lymphedema, weird aches & pains, my anxiety, hubby's anxiety, and the challenges faced by some of my fellow survivor sisters from my support group here in my city from 2008...heartbreaking).

However, the humour and moxy of all you girls has me inspired again and I am coming out of my funk. And Claire, your riding long distances in the rain has me determined to pull up my socks tomorrow and go for a long walk as I listen to my 80s music and boyband (gasp) favourites.  I WILL do it.

My heart goes out to those with sick fur babies.  My two kitties are my babies and I understand how hard it is when they are not well!

    Take care all.

Hi girls!  Sorry I've been absent.  I've been super busy trying to squeeze in as much as I can between chemo and rads.  I am supposed to start rads this week.  I did 2 CT scans for it because of my implants.  They're going to put me at an angle.  Sure hope it works!  Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  We went camping.  It was fun, but I'm tired!  :)

Lori - love the hair.  I can't wait until mine gets longer.  I saw a pic of my hair pre-chemo.  I miss it!  I dyed my hair brown and I'm already seeing gray roots a week later.  At least it's growing fast (it's a tiny bit over an inch long).  :)

OK, just shoot me now before they cart me away.

So this morning, Sean's bus is supposed to come at 7:40 and then I drop off my other two kids at 8:00am. So at 8:06 I call the bus driver and leave a message. Then I call transportation. They say they will talk to the bus driver. Finally hear back at 8:19 it will be another 20-25 minutes. Apparently the bus driver didn't know it was raining! It did start last night. Then she says she didn't know rain would affect traffic??? So, I drive the other two to school and sit and wait. Finally at 8:50 I start to drive Sean to school and on the way get a call from transportation saying the bus is at your house- It is 9:00am!

So, I'm already all flustered and such. On the way back the phone rings. I shouldn't have answered but I did. It was Dr. J's office checking up about the GI procedure on Thursday. I start telling her how I emailed the Dr. over the weekend about my son feeding her chicken and how she still throws up some and how hard it is with it raining that it is hard to stop her from drinking from puddles. She is quiet and then says let me let you talk to a nurse. When the voice mail for the nurse comes on I finally realize it wasn't Liesl's doctor it was MY doctor asking how I was after the colonoscopy!!!!! Egad - what on earth must they think? My son feeds me chicken which makes me throw up and then I sneak outside to drink water from puddles? Like I said just shoot me now!

Ooooh, I want one of those Cruzan Confusions--a pitcherfull!  It's been a long day, and confusion is a good description of how the day went.  I am soooo tired, and I have to get up at 4 am again tomorrow morning.  I will be soooo glad when Thanksgiving break gets here!

Stanzie--your poor, confused doc's office staff!  I do hope Leisl is doing better tonight.

I just found out I have to pick up my WINE tomorrow evening.  I must have been too addled a few months back to know how my wine club membership works.  Anyway, won't break the bank, and I will be forced to try new wines. Twist my arm!!!

I will keep you posted on how it goes.  At the very least, I will have some good presents to bring to holiday meals.

Meanwhile, saved at least that much in discounts.  Reminder that one of the SEs of treatment is that I am less willing to put up with mediocre wine!!!

On this, I think I need to have my pre dinner glass.......

Turns out Liesl had an infection at the tube site and got cleaned up and a new bandage and antibotics and FINALLY when we got home we all got tail wags and kisses - I think she is finally starting to feel better! She hasn't gained any weight but more important she hasn't lost any. Wish I could give her some of my extra pounds!

So where are you all finding wine clubs?

I was sorry to miss a wonderful wine party some friends of mine have every year. The husband is really into fabulous wines and is in some kind of Connesseur club. The party is bring your favorite wine to taste so needless to say there are amazing wines there. I think they are pretty brilliant as the Alchol takes care of itself and they have a wonderful caterer come for the food. Sorry I don't think my spell check is working.....

So, I'm supposed to go out of town for my Uncle's 90th birthday party - it is only 2 nights. Do I dare leave Liesl with my ex and the kids?

Oh Stanzie....that is a CLASSIC! You must remember this for the rest of your life! Too funny. Glad to hear Liesl is feeling a bit better, but not sure about where to leave her....good luck on that.

Claire, love the S.E. Great way to look at it!

Beans, have a sooper dooper time with your sister!

Astorm, could I have a little rum with my confusion? LOL!

    WB Lulu.

Kitty, if your hair was not gray before chemo, it should eventually come in your natural color. It just takes a little while. I colored mine too when it was like that.

Well I am home...FINALLY! But almost affraid to post, for fear of catching something! On my flight home, the 3 of sitting together were all cancer survivors! A Sister with BC, and a man with bladder cancer. But it also made me think, how sad that there are so many people with cancer, that that would even happen. Anyways, we are off again this weekend to Phx to meet up with a girl we want to pull in to work with us. Then the following weekend, Phx again to do the Irrigation Association Show. I JUST WANT TO STAY HOME! And I am certain there will be more. My house is never going to get cleaned. Hope you all have a Smurfy Day and everyone is on the mend.

Lori - So glad you are back and healthy - we need some healthy around here! But, no you cannot have a little rum... you need a LOT of rum if you're going to hang out with all us sickeechickees. On our honeymoon, we went sailing in St Croix and DH cut his hand on some coral. There was no first aid kit on the boat so the drunken crew poured Cruzn rum on it to prevent infection. Cruzn rum reminds us of that trip... we took family with us cuz we got married on the island and every night my FIL would break out the rum and try a new recipe for cocktails. My maid of honor is coming over for Thanks and I plan to serve her a Cruzn cocktail. If the weather isn't too chilly, maybe I'll try this:

    Bacchus Espresso Martini

Stanzie - finally some good news! Maybe Lori is bringing some health vibes to the HTL... are you listening HD? Hope Liesl gets better and better and HD can lose that snot rag soon. I live in California which is kind of like being in France, except for well, there is no Paris here. But there is WINE. Lots and lots of it. I currently belong to 4 wine clubs:  a local winery that produces an amazing Pinot Noir. They have a release party twice/ year with food and live music and the place looks like you are on a ridge top somewhere in Italy; I am also joined a club at a winery about 3 hours away. We pass it a couple of times / year when we go south to visit the ILs. They only bottle Pinot Noir (one release/year) but they distribute 3 times/year so if I don't make it by I have them ship it to me. Then there is a wonderful wine bar downtown that has a wine club... from there I get 2 bottles/month of international surprises - one red, one white. I never know what I'm getting until I pick it up. They do a really nice newsletter telling us about the wine, the region, and the winemaker. I also belong to K&L which is online. They ship every month but since an adult must sign for a wine delivery I usually have to go to UPS and pick it up. K&L is a huge, wondeful wine store in San Francisco. I'd get lost in the place so I never go there... I just wait for the wine to come to me. http://www.klwines.com/ for membership info. Wish I could call it my SE but I've always been spoilt.

    Happy sunshiny day to all!

bet he has a wine cellar?... Seattle is sounding really good! When I woke this morning I was in downtown Seattle... come lookin for the K&L guy most likely. I've been disappearing every day to a coffee shop or library to study away from the construction noise but I always wander home when it gets dark for a glass of pinot. That is the up-side of autumn's short days!

I prefer a Burgundian-style pinot, so my favs are from cool regions with fog and sun: Anderson Valley (Napa), Carneros, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Lucia Highlands here in California. I've also been trying some wonderful Willamette Valley (OR) pinots recently. Some favorites are Windward, Byron, Elke, Goldeneye, Silver Mountain and Loma Prieta. Not sure how many of these are available out of state... our local wine bar carries most of them so I can have a glass anytime.

Yes, I have really enjoyed the Oregon Pinots, but also some from Carneros and Sonoma - have not had fromthe other regions.  I will be looking for a nice pinot for Thanksgiving.

The owner has NO wine cellar at home :)

Is it time to start yet?  Somwhere?

Hi Ladies & Barmen, Just a quick hello to say ***HELLO*** and I'm off for rad rad #1 this morning, got my suit ready...last week mamos were clear. After today only 32 more rad days and 1 chemo cycle (2 pokes for 5-FU and 14 days of caca pills). Then on to tammy, catch up on drinking, and then hold my breath and cross my toes and fingers (and whatever pubic hairs are left)...Thinking of you chicki-babes every day. Oh, yes and I had a wonderful (but of course weepy Bean) visit with my big sis!

Luv & hugs and keep away from bed bugs...~Beanzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
