Hi..... Nice not to have to sweat bills this month. Not that I can go out there and spend money, but things are calmer. Still have my rads bill to pay which I will do with next cash. Car payment is now down to a reasonable sum too.
I think I will get some money from my other consulting gig relatively soon. Will need it to catch up with a couple of things. BTW - all through active treatment it was money, not recurrence that I was worried about.
Beans....you will feel better soon, and I think have your appetite back in time for Christmas. I was lucky to be able to eat relatively normally. This was even with well-meaning neighbor making some frankly awful concoctions. (Way too much garlic and ginger. A little was a good thing, chunks of the stuff wasn't. Still don't know how I managed it.)
I do remember substituting Chai lattes for coffee, and needing the sugar. Fine now drinking coffee lattes w/o.
Everyone.....the most amazing view today of the snow-covered Olympic Mountains. Snow levels are down to <3000' so everything is white. This is in contrast to the very blue waters of the Sound. And the SUN is out. Life is good.
(Will invest in better wine for tonight though. Wondering what I can use the rotgut in????)

Beanie - that brandy sounds good to me. I'm having mine with s splash of champagne:
And I loved the plant! Guess I'm jealous cuz I've never had a relationship with a plant. They always die and I replace them. Good thing the dogs bark at me if I forget to feed them... if they need water they bat the plstic bowl around the kitchen until I get the hint. The plants just shrivel and die.
Claire - I love cardamom! and squash... sounds like you cook like I do (keep adding things until it's yummy). I make a sweet potato casserole for Thansgiving that non-veg eaters will eat (no shmallows - ick) with lots of spices and cream of course.

Yippee AStorms have brandy n champs!! Maybe you need a chia pet? I'll take the shmallows - thanks!!! Shhhhhhaaaaawwwweeeeettttt!

I'd like to use my champagne in a Mimosa today. If the mallows are fluffy and covered in toasted coconut, I would like some of those as well - they would help coat my intestines nicely
For now, I will stick with my trusty Golden, Cooper. But after him, I will go with either a chia pet or a goldfish, whichever is going to be easiest to care for.
The pumpkin custard sounds delicious, I may try to wing that one with some butternut squash I have sitting here needing to be utilized/consumed.
Loving those C pills....NOT.

Every time I read the heading of this post I think "yes, please!". 4.5 more months of chemo for me first though. Will have to enjoy vicariously.

Hi PaminWV - welcome to the HTL lounge...some of us don't like to admit it, but due to chemo n stuff we can't drink for reals, so we have this wonderful virtual bar where you can drink all you want and you never get a headache, plus none of the food has calories. It's just so fun...we have a pool and a casino and I don't know what all. There's a video that is hilarious of our virtual bar. I stumbled in one day and they haven't kicked my drunk @ss out yet! (I'm on chemo for another month so all's drinks are fantasy land!!! - please don't tell anyone) Sorry you have 4.5 mo to go. But I started in July and it's gone by so fast. You will get through all of it. Hope you will join us for brandy n champs for happy hour.

You forgot to mention the guys! Hot fireman, docs, construction workers I have never seen the video, if I find it I will share with PaminWV too. I also have 4.5 months to go. If you are not up for brandy n champs, you can also send us another drink - welcome!
Pam, HTL means Hot Tatties Lounge - there are more abbreviations that will come up - I am always asking what they are,....

Just got back from Dr. Appt. He was looking at My Sherona. I was very glad not to have a coughing or snot attack while in there. Looks like my mesh repair might need a little tightening up. No big deal I guess. Next week will go to garage mechanic for for a look at the chia area. Don't like those visits. Get it done as they say....especially when you are catastrophically maxed out. I wish I could get into a drinking mode. I didn't go to work today due to feeling like crap. Tomorrow is a holiday but I will go in for a little bit to do some stuff I hafta do. I will be in the sauna if anyone wants to visit or sweat out some poison. Have pants just keep pouring a little water on da rocks. Achia! Sorry, had to sneeze. Hunkydory

How about some nyquil on the rocks, HD?

Hi girls! Beans, I liked your plant too....thought that was so cute that you named your plant, which became your "pet"! Just so many posts I usually only get to comment on the last one or two....memory doesn't go much farther back than that...lol. HunkyD....I really LMAO reading your sentence "Next week will go to garage mechanic for for a look at the chia area." I just love all the innuendos (sp?) that you all think up!!! Glad you found Lori's video, Beans, so some of the newer gals can see what we all thought up quite sometime ago. RCG, I'll join you in a Mimosa...just love those. Will take it to the sauna and visit with HD....eeks....rcg....nyquil on the rocks????????
My DD and I celebrated my 60th today (almost 2 mo later) since we never did find time to go out to lunch! It was fun...DH watched the g'kids....so unusual for us to have one-on-one time, and GLAD she still wants to!!! Lori, Hope you had a great time with your DD...and that your SIL gave you two time alone. When do you come back home? Hope the entire trip is going well. HAPPY HOUR time....YAY! Beans, I love your "cHAIR" since you can still see hair on your head...funny!!!! Let's all get drunk here....
BARMEN!

RainGirl, no nyquil for me...It would knock me out. Hey, your name reminds me of that movie Rainman. Can you count cards and matchsticks too? I really loved that movie. "Course...I definately don't buy my underwear at KMART" Bawhahahaha! HD P.S. Maybe I still do have a fever!
Edited to add: See you in the sauna Kathy!

That is the point of the nyquil - you probably need some great rest to get better I suck at counting cards and have never tried matchsticks.

HI HD....good to see you here in the sauna! I'm getting tooooo hot though, so I think I'll mosey on over to the pool....*splash*...ohhhhhh much better! But we can still visit....Pants hooked up a neat audio thingie where we can communicate wherever we are in the HTL! Kewl, huh! Oh, I see junie in the casino....and we can talk to HER too....what an invention...lol. Beans is camped out at the percotini fountain, and RCG is hanging out at the mimosa fountain. And AStorm is trying out Claire's recipe....while giving her dogs water (smart dogs to let you know...lol). Dee is keeping the Wenches in line, and chrissy went off with that cute guy she posted! Stanzie is cuddling Liesl and NM is still trying to keep Sadie's neck thingie on. And there goes jaybird, flying off to Europe! Oh, I know I prob left out a ton of people, but these are the first ones that came to mind. If I missed anyone, then you need to post more....remember my mind ain't that great anymore!!!! CHEERS and cHAIRS and Chores, and..........

Thanks, Beanius and Raincitygirl. It sounds like fun!
I have decided that I'm going to scarf immense amounts of various Christmas treats this season and then pay for it all January, February and March with annoying winter workouts. Anyone with me?
0 -
Already doing that - chemo, without steroids, has made me eat lots of carbs - that's my story and I'm sticking to it
We are going to a small island off the coast of WA (Whidbey) for Thanksgiving and I plan to really step up my eating then and continue on through the holidays.
What can we pour for you tonight?
0 -
Oh yeah, Christmas treats galore!! Lotta eggnog with booz in it too!
BTW - I will be out most of tamari due to pikin big sis up at da airport.
Geawd you all make me smile so much and I thank you, see ya soon ~Beans

Just got home from getting my first massage since recon --Ahhhh, I feel sooo much better now, and am going to sleep sooooo good tonight. Taking a while to get caught up here!
I'm recommending a Malibu Massage for the DOTDMalibu Massage Recipe
1/4 oz Triple Sec
1/2 oz Coconut Rum
1/2 oz White Creme de Cacao
2 oz Sprite
1/4 oz Coconut Syrup
1 oz Milk0 -
Ooo, NM! I don't know what is better -- the drink or a massage... Would both be too much?
0 -
I'm in for both, thanks NM! Looks marvelous!!!!
0 -
NM, I'll take the massage and drink too, thank you! I am envious.....haven't had a massage in so long. But so glad you had one for us, and that you thoroughly enjoyed it! Sleep well......
0 -
I need the drink in order to relax enough to enjoy the massage....so I'll take two, then the massage.

Oh Wahine, I just read your tag line for the first time - HYSTERICAL If this were a different situation I would be stealing it...

I really and I mean really guilted myself about drinking when i got my diagnosis. But you now what? I had my surgery 3 weeks ago, and i start chemo in about 2 and I have partied my butt off the last weekend. And I will enjoy those drinks ( and a smoke of you know what) until chemo. and during, if i feel like having one, i will! We do so much to keep ourselves in check, and look at us. We all have cancer, and it didn't make one bit of difference about the happy hour drinks, or the hot dogs we ate, etc. We have a small amount of time here on this earth. and we are all walking through hell during our treatments. We should be able to relax and laugh and get buzzed to take that damn edge off sometimes! I'm 29, with breast cancer, pretty much won't be able to have kids, going to lose my hair, my appetite, and god knows what else! I'm going to have that bottle (oops, meant glass ) of wine when i feel up to it! Good Wishes all!!0
-
Don't do that to yourself - many people did none of the things that are suspected as causes and got bc and many did all of them and didn't. There is no rhyme or reason.
I didn't plan well before I started chemo - should have had lots of sushi and wine and I was so worked up, I didn't. Damn it.
I have not last my appetite at all, unfortunately, I am ravenous, relentlessly ravenous. I was hoping for that silver lining of weight loss but that is not happening for me at all. My onc lets me have a glass or two of wine during my off chemo weeks. If you search alcohol on this site, you will read what the docs associated here have to say.....
Best wishes to you, I hope it's not true about having children! Have a toke for the old woman, will ya?

Junie....you need a bit of serious counseling re: silk undies. My thongs were a major salvation when undergoing chemo. Things always felt just fine underneath it all, if you get my drift.
I usually do eat throughout the holidays. You can do this if you ski. We are all looking out at the snowy peaks with big smiles here in my building. Last year was a major bust, and it had nothing to do with chemo.
I remember when I finally got to go x-country skiing. Week after chemo, when I was sitting in the chair getting a Taxol infusion, looking longingly out at the snowy Cascades. The infusion nurses were shaking their heads. I went skiing that Sunday....only good day all season.
I am so glad to be able to drink wine again......
HD in Idaho.....would watch it during chemo though. Because your liver will have enough to do. Have to say, I also partied just prior to. And celebrated with a Global Virtual Wine Party three weeks later.
