We went to Outback the other day and they have a gingerbread cocktail that looks yuuuuummmy - can't remember the specifics but I do recall Baileys and Kahlua...would be nice for breakfast!

Yeah, I don't know where the "chemo diet" went, but I eat everything in site pretty much!

That reminds me, I was having a conversation about living each day like your last (hoo boy) - what if an asteroid hit the Earth tomorrow?  I was thinking to myself - "Sure, ok, I'll go eat an entire NY Cheesecake and then go hide under the bed."

Very quick pop in as I'm on my way out. Liesl has been going down hill rapidly and it has been horrible. Today I'm taking her in for a last hope measure - a feeding tube. Hopefully this will work.

Myself I get to go in for my first Colonoscopy this morning...... Missed you all will have to catch up this weekend when hopefully everything will be calmer....

      Woo Hoo, Chrissy,

I LOVE this site!  I want a Bloody Mary right now.  Sounds like a winner for the weekend.  I'm going to make them pretty like the pics, and LOTS of olives.  Oh, man, I do love a good Bloody Mary.  We always fix them on Christmas morning - so festive-looking.

Going to a spa in New Mexico with my daughter for 3 days this weekend.  We decided we needed a mother/daughter weekend.  Taking mixings for a great coffee drink called Mountain Comfort.  Can you picture it?  Hot springs pools in the evening when the air is in the 20's, then drinks in front of the fire in our cozy suite, and a good book?  Can't wait to get away!

Maybe I'll take the mixings for Bloodies, also!

Stanzie & Liesl - will be thinking of you today and sending you hugs.

Chrissy - I haven't had cheescake in YEARS! My family doesn't eat it and I don't want to eat a whole cheesecake by myself, so I don't make them anymore. When we eat out, I pig out on the main meal and never have room for dessert. Last week when I took my daughter to San Francisco she wanted to stop at Cheesecake Factory on the way home (don't know if they exist outside California but they have lots of food, not just cheesecake). We had to wait for our table and of course the cheesecakes are on display for the hungry people waiting. Tried to get DD to agree that we should get one to take home but she reminded me that no one but me would eat it. ARGGG! Glad I have you guys to eat cheesecake with but I'd sure like a bite on my palate too!

The gingerbread thing looks awfully sinful too. Thanks for that Kathy and Pam.

Well the pounding has started next door and the yelling and loud music. DH got upset with me over the Mozart, which was necessary to allow me to focus on my studies, so I'm just going to get out of here for awhile. The yelling is the worst of it -- I am sooooo not interested in hearing their date-night stories today!!! I imagine the really loud guy with the hot date story is overcompensating for a lack of something which is not helping. Is the sexy contractor just a myth?

Does the guy with the hot date stories drive a corvette?  Is he short?  We actually had a similar noise situation last year but our local noise ordinance took care of that with a simple phone call.... the police who came to address it, they were worth the phone call :) Had they been cited more than three times, the job would have been shut down and penalized.

We have Cheesecake Factory in Seattle and while I have eaten there, I have never had their cheesecake.

I just don't know what I want to drink today.....what goes well when you are chugging down cytoxin?

Raincitygirl - Vodka goes with everything. Our next door neighbor called the county and complained that our dogs bark too much. The contractor is his friend. DH thinks that if we do anything at all it might escalate the problem. DH is really worked up about the complaint -- he is keeping a log of every time the dogs bark and when we are home/ not home with them. So on top of the chaos around me I am living with a crazy person and 2 teenagers. I would move if I could but have a daughter in high school and we have really high property tax in California that you can't transfer until you are 55. DH is almost there but between the school and the tax base it looks like we are stuck here for 2 more years. I think I'm ready for a total change of venue. In fact, if I could convince DH to think outside the box... we could actually move somewhere else for a year or so to try it out while we rent out our house here. This used to be a small town with nice people but now we have terrible traffic and it isn't feeling so friendly anymore. How is Bellevue this time of year?

Oh Gail, Instead of Bellevue, I think a whole cheesecake just for you, would do the trick! Yes, we have cheesecake factories near us too, but haven't been there. Just got a "groupon" deal for Honolulu today that was for cheesecake....and they even had lilikoi cheesecake. YUM! I can dream, right???? Sorry about all your probs there.....that really sucks. Just keep getting drunk with us, and you will survive it.LOL.

Hi Lane, and welcome to the HTL! We are heavy cyber drinkers who like to pArTy heartily. That spa weekend sounds amazing....can I tag along???? Pretty please??? Well, if not, then you have fun for all of us,okay?? Between your spa weekend and NM's recent massage, I think we need to get the Tattie Tenders back to giving massages in between mixing drinks and putting on parties for us. Think I'll line up for that right now!!!! Pants, please start my massage, and bring me a bloody mary with a long straw so I can lie on my tummy and still drink!

      ChEARS Dears!

They sell individual cheesecakes at "The Confectional" in Pike Place Market.

Wahine.....can you send a nice buff masseur over my way right now!!!  I could use a massage, and I don't mean in my back/shoulders either.

A Storm - Bellevue has its share of traffic, but there are other places in the Seattle area that don't have that much.  I know, because that is where I like to cycle.  Such as past the farm in North Bend that had the most fab free range eggs for cheap.  What a treat.

Seattle is very dog-oriented with many shops and pubs having dog bowls out in front.  I love having dogs around, so yours could bark away.  What a stupid neighbor.

Guess neighbor wouldn't agree to having Ozzie attend church early service with his parents.  He is such a mellow guy and doesn't understand why people shrink away when he comes up to say hello.....all 110 lb of him with his big Rottweiler smile.

Astorm - I moved here via Boston and then Portland ME.  I have really come to appreciate it here in many ways but there are always things we miss from our "home". The Seattle area is quite beautiful even with the rain - I feel we are offered everything we could want; ocean, mountains, city, country, culture, but sports teams are pretty bad :)  We have had several beautiful days, I even drove with the top down yesterday and I don't give a rat's xss what stares I get.  I know it sounds crazy but when I drive with the top down, my nausea improves - seriously.

Oh, and Astorm, I think you should have a shot of tequila and remember what Kathy says above - piss on it and walk away since obviously you can't eat or hump it :)  I have a big old golden who barks sometimes, mostly when the three dogs next door go on for hours.I have been lucky that our neighbors don't complain about mine and i generally don't complain about theirs unless they go away for the weekend and leave them outside. They actually call me to ask if their dogs are bugging us.  We live in the downtown Bellevue area, so our lots are tighter than our previous three acres with horse pasture, etc..  Such a shock but we wanted to try almost city life.

Wahine - what is lilikoi? doesnt' matter, as long as it is cheesecake. On that note, I found you ladies a Strawberry Cheesecake Martini - sorry I haven't figured out pics yet.

      • 1 fluid ounce cranberry juice
      • 1 fluid ounce vanilla flavored vodka
      • 1/2 fluid ounce grenadine syrup
      • 1 strawberry

RCG, Sorry bout that...lilikoi is like passion fruit...and they use the pulp on pavlova but this is the first lilikoi cheesecake I found....of course though, it was in Hawaii. I love eating lilikoi...so yummy. My late grandparents moved to Tacoma many, many yrs ago from Hawaii, and so my mom and stepdad moved there for a few yrs. We visited often, and I agree that the weather is quite nice. The "rain" so often is just like a mist, and the summers were much milder than here. I wouldn't have wanted to live there though as everything was so congested and there was so much traffic. I liked the Olympia area, as it was much smaller and not as hectic (that was several yrs ago though). I really like N. AL, as our area is very high tech and has a diverse population....a small city, but because of the high income (not us!) there is a lot offered, and it is relatively easy to get around...rush hour is really a half hour....lol. But it DOES get gawd-awful hot in the summer....Thank God for a/c!!!!

Hmmm....strawberry cheesecake martini....interesting....verrrrry interesting! Glad you like my sig, rcg....hope it doesn't offend anyone though! Will be babysitting the g'kids tonight, so no partee for meeeeeee!

      Ciao,

      Kathy

Chrissy--what a perfect Bloody Mary!   I drooled just looking at the picture!!   I surely could have used that this morning.   We slept with the door to the deck opened last night and the friggin' chipmunks were all over the place rustling the leaves; the crows were squawking their heads off in the back yard; the squirrels were in the trees dropping acorns on the metal roof--at 5 in the morning!    I am NOT a morning person, but didn't want to shut the door so just got up.   It sounded like a herd of elephants in the back yard!!!   Ended up sitting out on deck for a bit as the sun came up and watched all those noisy critters.   I'll prob crash before much longer.   Wonder how long that steroid shot is going to last--and, how SOON can I get another one!!!!

Jocks and Pants are off confabbing on setting up a great Par-Tay.   They've asked for suggestions as to what we'd all like to have served on the buffet and any special drink requests!   Skate is tending bar this afternoon.   She just oiled her ball-bearings, so she's zipping around pretty quick!   Skate!!!  Bucket of dog beers out by the pool--thanks!!!!!

Welcome to the new lounge lizards!   PaminWV--you mention living in the stix--I'm always whining about living in the boonies!!!!   We retired to a long loved remote area in NW Arkansas and I continue to have a love/hate relationship with my "big city girl" exposure to rural living!

I seldom chat everyone up individually, just comment on what I can remember!!   Hunky--hope you're feeling better today!   Stanzie--still holding your hand!!!  Lori--you should be returning home soon--hope your visit went well--looking forward to seeing you back posting!

Let's help Jocks and Pants get this Par-Tay planned!   I totally missed the Halloween bash with being sick so I'm really looking forward to another one!!!

Happy Vet's Day!   I'm not sure what org we pay dues to but one of their services is to plant a nice-size American Flag in the front yard to mark special days.   Today, as you drive out of our community, house after house after house has a Flag proudly waving.   It is awesome!!!!   LOL--one of the rural benefits I am impressed with!!!!

      bottoms UP!!!!

Was posting at the same time junie!! OOOPS....my DH and I were both in the military....and late DH was a Green Beret, and did we remember to hang our flag outside....nooooooooooo. Ok now, stop hitting my hand, I know I should've!!! OR as they say.....should've, would've, could've (or whatever order that is supposed to be). DD and g'kids went to the Veterans Day parade, and she is a Den Leader (as well as Girl Scout Leader), so helped the boy scouts fold the flags correctly that were being "retired". SO yeah....no excuse for me forgetting to do that! Glad your neighbors were flying the stars and stripes. Enjoy the partay tonight.....maybe if I'm not too worn out from watching the g'kids, I will stop by later on.....esp after the party REALLY gets interesting!!!!!

What I missed Cheesecake? wow, it doesn't pay to miss a few days Cheesecake and massages.... sigh.

Liesl is home and pitiful but sleeping comfortably. The feeding tube doesn't seem too bad - I guess with all the practice from drains and such isn't as big a deal as it might have been before BC. She is so tiny.... very scary. I do the first feeding tomorrow so wish us both luck that it will work! I have to get some tee shirts or something for her to cover the bandages which stay on the tube so she won't mess with it once she is awake enough to know it is there. Hope I can find something pretty for her.

Oh My Gosh!!! The Colonoscopy prep was horrible but not the way I had heard or thought. yes the stuff to drink is horrid but about 1/4 into the second bottle I started to feel bad and I mean really bad and then I started in on chills and then would get hot and sweaty then freezing. I slept with 8 blankets and shivered all night. Also felt nauseous. So went in and told them and they said a lot of people have that reaction?? Anyway, apparently i had a fever from it all and still had one when I went in - once they put in the Iv and fluids it helped. So then because of taking the lymph node they put the blood pressure cuff and the IV on my left arm. Well, here is something for you all in case it ever happens to you. Apparently when they started putting in the anesthesia the blood pressure cuff went off and the med couldn't go anywhere so there was buring pain like I have never felt and started screaming and yelling. Even the nice calm doctor was yelling to flush the IV and stop the med. It probably went on only a minute or so but it was one of the worst pains I have ever had. I think I was yelling something like "I'm going to die - make it stop" That isn't something I would ever even think I would say so it was bad.

So hope tomorrow goes OK for Liesl!!! As the tube might not work but it is her last chance to keeping fingers and toes and anything else crossed!!! If just had to work! Night all I'm wiped out!

hugggssss, Wahine!   Don't worry--the Par-Tay is just in the planning stages--but think we'd better have one real quick because DH is real close to having me committed!   Not sure where he'll stash me--our state hospital closed its doors many years ago........

He played golf this afternoon, so I did a little more household purging.  Emptied another box of crap in the garage; got bored.   Back to kitchen...about half done in there.  And, although the spices are now in alpha order, the cleaned out pantry is not, but at least all soups/veggies/etc are grouped by category!!  LOL  (neither one will last very long!!!)  got bored.   (I get bored easily!).   Went into computer/junk room and really started getting into tossing stuff; sorting papers...got bored so caught up on some e-mails....got bored and went into bedroom and started on my "underwear" drawer.....I swear, some of that stuff dates back to the Civil War!   Whoa!   Found a really nice bra that I have no remembrance of ever buying.   Grab the bra and go back to computer room.   I've got the itunes cranked up playing MY music and I'm thinking I want to try on this bra but don't want to take off my top--so I just put it on over my tee-shirt to see what I thought about keeping it or tossing it out.   Got Bored!   Got a phone call....got distracted.....GOT that music as loud as can go over the computer (closed the window so not to annoy any neighbors).....busy, busy, busy making that trash pile grow bigger and bigger.........singing along to some of my fav oldies....just having me a grand old time--and I look up and DH is standing in the door!   Didn't hear him come in over all my racket.    He took one look at me and asked--"What in the F*** are YOU doing?'     Well, that irritated me no end so of course I went into attack mode and yelled that while he was out enjoying a game of golf I was working my sick butt off trying to keep things moving along with this clean up project........and he just looked at me......and, in that horrible split second that we sometimes have--when we realize that no words are going to be adequate; when you just wish the floor would open up and swallow you-----I realized I STILL had that bra on outside my tee shirt!!!

I wanted so badly to tell him I thought Skate had slipped something into my dog beers out at the pool-----instead, I hightailed it to the nearest bathroom where I laughed so hard, I had tears streaming!   Got the bra off and washed my face and told him I thought tonight would be a good time for take out for dinner!!!

I love cheesecake, too!   Years ago, when living in NY, my one weekly splurge was a walk to the neighborhood deli and buy one slice of NY Cheesecake.   Have not found anything in all the years since that compared to that cheesecake.....

Reading all your posts and seeing the pics--we ordered from a little Spanish place tonight.  Their sopapilla dessert is a semi-cheesecake with a crusty cinnemon/sugar top crusting served warm with real whiiped cream-----I scarfed down every bit of it!!!!

      big hugggsssssss to ALL!!!!!!
