Chrissy - Oh I just don't even begin to know what to say about all the flooding - the videos I have seen are just horrifying. I'm so sorry so many are being affected by these floods and hope it all ends soon. I can't imagine worrying about all that and now your daughter! I too am very glad she keeps on top of all her mammograms - saying a prayer she is fine and will stay that way.

Lori - for me all those night non-flashes just succeed in waking me up and keeping me up! Even with  a sleeping pill. Since we are snowed in still figured I don't need to be up so why not try the big guns and that didn't work either!

Wahine - how is the snow for you? Sounds like tomorrow will be the day of running water for us and the snow will finally go away. I stocked up on food so I've been fine but still sounds like people are getting stuck and lots of wrecks out there....

Is it just me or is this winter a really nasty one? I guess I shouldn't complain with all the bad weather in the news... I usually like winter but my bones hurt now when its cold. Maybe I should move some place warmer. Last week our pipes froze and we didn't have running water until 10AM. Houses here are not designed to be frozen. I located the exposed pipe in front of the house and commented to DH that we should put some insulation around it before it froze again so it wouldn't burst. He found a sheet of rubbery material in the garage, cut it up and wrapped the pipes with it. Unfortunately it was my purple yoga mat! So now I have to go find a new one... I just hate new mats cuz they smell bad which makes me think they are made out of something that isn't zen. :(   Well for today at least, I'll be doing my downward dog sans sticky mat

    Hey! Is that Beanie?

Does anyone exercise with a Wii? My friend recommended it but I'd have to put window coverings up too now that the TV is in the family room which is open to the construction site behind our back fence so it's kind of a commitment...

Gail, OMG.....that sounds like something my DH would do! I just got a new yoga mat too, but yesterday must have done (or overdone) my back exercizes wrongly as I couldn't even move this am. But with an ice pack and 2 alleve, it is ok now....but it was excruciating. Just hope I am not doing them wrong! Trying also to *start* yoga, but I am sure I just look funny! So stange for you to have frozen pipes in CA though...what a weird winter. I like your SF Hail Storm drink!!! Yummmmmm,

Stanzie, Yeah today is the 4th day of school closings here too....mostly cause of icy parking lots and some streets. Ours is still covered with snow/ice in the shady areas. BUT we will get avove freezing too, either tomorrow or Sat, and then it looks like rain every day! What a mess! Were your pipes frozen? You mentioned tomorrow is the first day of running water? Sorry, I missed it if yours were frozen.

Chrissy, Have you heard from the dr about whether or not you have an infection? Soooo much going on right now. My dad saw the news and said the water is receeding in Brisbane, but I don't think he realizes how affected all the other areas are, too.

Looks like the 4 of us will be cancelling our trip to Alaska next week....some stuff came up.....so not sure how much $$$ it will be to change our res....and if we have to keep the same itinerary. The next time we could go there is after my parents are back in HI, so would be hard for them to keep the same itinerary! Such is life....life is full of change so I guess I need to learn to embrace that!

Haven't swam up to the swimup bar in a long time, so... *splash*....here I am.....Pants will you make me that "SF Hail Storm" (rhymes with AStorm) drink? Wow, that was fast, and oh yeah it is as good as it looks!! Well, Pants ain't too bad looking either! Esp in his swim trunks with his tanned chest showing..........oops, back to reality!

Hi Kathy, 7.50am here so I'm up, showered and just finishing breakfast and will be leaving for the Docs office in about half an hour.  Because this is a squeeze in appt. I'm going to have to wait awhile I think so not sure exactly what time I'll get in, hopefully the wait won't be too long........sigh!  The things we have to do.  I'll know more in a few hours I guess so will definately pass the information on.

Yes the water has passed it's peak and is now on the ebb but, it's so wide spread that it's going to take days if not weeks to fully clear enough for people to return to their properties and start the cleanup.  It's going to be one hell of a long process for some and for others, it's never going to be the same again.  The whole situation is truly heartbreaking.  IMHO, although we weathered the global economic storm rather well, I think this disaster has put us on a very level playing field with the rest of the world and it's going to take quite a while for us to recover.  Fortunately, the Aussies are known for their fortitude and I guess that is what will pull us through in the end.

Yes, that drink that Astorm suggested sound like just what I need right now.  Move over Kathy, I'm coming to join you!......PANTS!!!  one....no...make it two hail storms please!  TITZ UP!!!

    Hi Girlz,

I am popping in to see what's to drink and am now joining Chrissy and Wahine and Pants at the swim up bar.  I just popped in the chapel to say my prayers for Junie, for Chrissy and her fellow Aussies and also for Chrissy's DD. I am hoping for nothing but good news for all. I do like your positive attitude Chrissy and will be anxiously awaiting updates from you.

I am getting so very bored and can not stand this lousy cold and snowy weather.  I slept alot today as I think I may be coming down with something.  My throat is sore and raw.  I am also having this funky pain in my left arm, close to the surgical sight. It sortof feels like a rug burn but has been bothering me since my exchange.  That side of my armpit is very mutilated, that was the side of "shitty titty", where I had the bullet hole, as I called it and had to have the TE removed.  I will hang in a few more days before I call the doc.  Did any of you have anything like this?

Make room for one more, Pants bring me a hail storm and make it a triple!!

Oh, my, ladies, make room for me at the swim up bar, and I see that Pants has my SF Hail Storm ready and waiting!  Such service, here!  From here I'm going to the hot tub to soak out some serious aches, pains and stiffness.  I'm getting too old for double shifts, I guess, I've been tired and sore ever since Tuesday's long run at work.  Got another one coming up next Wednsday.  Groan.

Yeah, you're right. I sure was hoping she could pop in though! Anxious to hear about her new niece. Hope you can get some rest and will feel better soon after those LONG work hours! Well, looks like our temps will be 6-8 overnight. UPS guy just came and I was saying how nice it is that our walkways are not frozen (thanx to DH shoveling), but then he pointed out the very slippery and icy bottom step! Sheesh.....and mail lady had to bring a pkg up to the porch today too. SO glad no one slipped! I am sure you have to encounter that so much, but its pretty rare for us!

Suck 'Em Up (drinks that is)!

ohhhhh, this Hail Storm is delicious.

I am posting a youtube video of a fiery explosion that happening while we were having the snow storm on Tuesday.  The video is a bit entertaining as there is a lady screaming to shut the camera off.  I would not post it if it was not a happy outcome.  The lady, who was 97 years old, escaped the house just before it blew up. The explosion was felt here but I was sleeping!

There is some X rated language here for those of you who may be offended (as if, right).

I am getting of the stool so someone else can have mine, I feel like floating.  Who am I kdding, I am already floating on fukitol and cocktails.  Cheers all!

Well I'm back from the docs.........lucky me, I got there way before first appt so got in first cab off the rank so noooo waiting for me!  Upshot of the visit, It looks like an infection.....dang drat it!.......so I've been given two different anti-biotics and am due to go for a full bladder ultrasound in about an hour and a half just to make sure that's the only thing going on. Oh boy! I've got to drink 2 pints of water over the next half hour and then hold the aftermath for a minimum of an hour.......I hope I don't disgrace myself as the old bladder ain't what she used to be!  Keeping you informed.....lol

Mmmmmm ......lools like a pretty good turn out at the swim bar, I'd better nudge my way through and find me a floaty to hang out on.................PANTS!!!!!!!   definately need another hail storm!  chAIrs!

Chrissy, So sorry to hear about the infection....hope the anti-b's do the trick! And PLEASE let us know how the ultrasound turns out....wishing the very best results on that. Don't ya think they would let you drink likker instead of water???? LOL. I love the expression "first cab off the rank"...never heard that before! Like in OZ and Asia and Europe, everyone "queques up" or gets in the "queque"...I like that one too. HOpe you can hold it long enough and let us know the results!

Dorothy, when I was in the middle of posting, but clicked on the youtube video, I lost my post! Darn it, I wonder why bc.org makes it too easy to erase posts. What a fire! I enjoyed the "commentary" though, and SO glad she got out ok. Looks like the home next door may have been damaged too. Scary, as that prob happened so quickly. Looks sorta like our outside here, with all that snow. Tonight is "pipe busting cold" as they said on the news! Sweet of you to let someone else have your barstool.

    ChAIRS (literally)!

awww, sorry Chrissy, let's hope the ultrasound is quick and easy and shows nothing wrong. It seems that someone here is always on antibiotics.  Sheesh....I was down to one and cross-threaded the cap and no one could get it unscrewed! I said fugget about it, I took 39. Hope they don't bother you, they don't bother me other than having to take them every six hours. Get better my friend.  I am glad you got checked by your doc.

And sorry to you Kathy, I have also lost posts more than once and get so darm mad.  Just drink more, it sure helps. Let's parTAY.

Chrissy..sorry to hear about all the flooding down your way...and good thoughts for only good news for your DD...and to you speeding healing from the infection...I remember US when I was pregnant with my first DD and had to drink tons of water and have a full bladder...it was torture then and I was 25 years younger than I am now!!!  No pelvic floor muscles here anymore!!!

Junie....I hope you are doing better and on the way to a full recovery and heading home...

NM....double shifts are for the kids....get some sleep!!!!

I read the posts then don't remember anything to write personally to everyone.....

DD has a friend over right now and another one coming later tonight....not sure what we are going to have for dinner as the girls don't know what they want......but I an going to enjoy my wine!!!  DD does not have school tomorrow and the girls are working on a lang arts project...no school Monday for MLK....

Next week is my last day of working 4 days (well only 3 because of MLK)...I've been working an extra day (Thursday) at one of my schools as the social worker left....principal told me today that they hired a new SW, so next Thursday will be my last TH....I think she was worried what I would think, but I am happy to go back to 3 days....the extra money is nice...when I told hubby today he was glad...he said that he thought I was going to "kill myself" with 4 days/week....With DS now out of state in college and the increase in tuition the extra money was nice...I worked 3 extra days for january paycheck and one for February.....but I'm glad to have the time back....I am a school psych and have 3 schools, each one day/week....the second day did make it easier to do the job, but I do the best I can with the one day....sure not complaining....I am getting positive feedback and praise from the people I work with....such a boost to my self-esteem as the job I had for 15 years that I left 2+ years ago had beat me down sooo badly...in the end I could never do anything right.....

It was around 50 today in Denver...thats is after single digits 2 days ago...snow is melting.....sure hope the areas getting slammed with snow and rain and bad weather get a break soon!!

Sorry for hijacking the thread....lets continue our party!!!  Oh the girls just decided they want mac and cheese (box)...so I am some leftovers in the frig that I think I will finish!!!

Chrissy - dang girl, that anti-Bea is just wearing out her welcome! Good luck with the bladder US. Did they make you drink 2 gallons of water? I've had a couple of pelvic US recently and that is not pleasant. The only time I can remember not wanting a cocktail!

Well UPS delivered a shipment of wine today from a club I joined when I was tasting my way home last summer... 5 bottles! I was only expecting 3. There are 2 Pinots, a chardonnay, a red blend, and a sparkling rosé that will probably end up at the beach with DD (NOT!)... Not excited about a domestic sparkling wine, especially a rosé ... wondering if I can make cocktails with it or something cuz I'm certainly not going to drink it. Maybe a sparkling fruit punch?

Hi....Chrissy, hope you have better luck on the Anti-B's than I have.  I thought after being on them through my TAC chemo and radiation, and surgeries I would be used to them all...but Mr. Doxycycline(sp?) and I did not hit it off.  Got on some though finally that cleaned me up good...too good as I am now again following up with fluconazole for problems I won't mention.  I also won't talk about peeing in front of you for a bit.  Does your toilet water really swirl counter clockways down there....LOL!  About the flooding, oh my gawd....that is terrible and I am so sorry for all.
Dorothy, I don't know what to think about your pain in your arm or armpit.  I would call Dr.
Lori, you are always getting to go on trips....I wish I could.  Your sleep pattern is more messed up than mine was this last year.  I wake up sopping wet many nights, and then can't go back to sleep for an hour or two.

I have been thinking so much about Junie lately I can't keep focused on all the posts and I apologize.  Kathy, thanks again for keeping us up to date.  Who was talking a page or so back about the Wii?  I can't go back and look without switching to word.  Anyway, let me know how you like it and I will take mine out of the box.  LOL  I got the wii fit plus or something.  I am usually a treadmill gal in the winter but thought I would try this too.  Once again, I am not going to try and respond to all these posts...being back at work has taken it's toll on me...LOL!  Three day weekend coming up though.  I will catch up then.  NM, glad your gran passed peacefully and I hope your memories with her fill most of the void you are feeling.  I am skipping the Hail Storm and going to work on one of Junies buckets.  She would want me to.  Got to go...tomorrow is Friday...and I am going to be the first one to the HTL tomorrow after work.  Pants promised me he would roll me dice for music. Later!  HD

Ohhh the partay is in full swing tonight, with so many gals stopping by! I talked with Junie about an hr ago, and she sounded so much better. Going to have another procedure, I think tomorrow, and hoping it all will work!!!! I know she and her DH would much rather be at home.....she has been in the hospital tooooooo darn long! I did tell her everyone misses her and wants her well and back here! Nice for you to have a 3 day weekend, HD! I had the best sleep ever last night, perfect temp...was wondering why it was freezing cold the last few nights.....you won't believe this....the window by my side of the bed was OPEN! That must have been from way back when I cleaned them...lol...explains why our bill is so high! Anyway, it was even too cold for me to be comfortable with the low temps lately. Very glad I finally found the problem.

As soon as the countertop guy remakes my bar countertop, THEN I can unpack all the likker! Been packed up since the end of Oct. Just left our fav ones out, but want to try some of the butterscotch schnapps again, and other stuff. AStorm, I would drink the sparkling rose for you in a heartbeat! Sorry you don't like it, but maybe mix w/ OJ and have mimosas. I have used that type with it before. Try to keep it from DD!!!!

msphil, this is a "DRINKING THREAD", hence it attracts drinkers! And there are some fantastic gals here!!!!

Beans, Glad you are sailing full sail with Tammy....way to go, girlfriend! Wish you could get online more often, but thanx for checking in. Have a great trip!

Dorothy, I too feel like it will be a great day....hope the momentum continues! I am drinking my morning coffee too and raise it to junie's full recovery! This gingebread coffee really has a neat taste (that really is the flavor).AND my back is much better this morning.....just sore as usual but not that excruciating pain. Gotta learn how to do the exercizes correctly! Today will my first day to drive somewhere since last Saturday, but I have enjoyed being nice and warm....still so frozen outside.

Stanzie, They showed the adorable baby panda at the ATL zoo, on GMA this morning....sooooo precious! I like that they are following the Chinese custom of not naming it for 100 days. Our schools are closed today too....will not reopen till Tues....is it the same there?

TGIF, in more ways than one! Hope today will be a GOOD day for all my breast friends, and that any news today will be good news!!! I know someone will come up with an appropriate DOTD so I will go and finish my coffee.....

    Hi Kathy,

Glad you are feeling better.  My throat was real sore yesterday and feels better today. It is going to be a good good night at the HTL, oh yeah.  I am getting ready to have lunch with a high school friend that I have not seen in quite some time.  This will be the debut of my new girls although they will be hidden under many layers.

I also saw the baby pando on GMA and how cute! I wonder if we could get Stanzie to grab him so that we can have a HTL mascott....uh, nevermind, nice thought but that lil baby would not be happy.

Let's keep the happy party going.  Cheers, titz up, way up!!!

Glad you are feeling better today too, Dorothy! And have a great lunch....maybe you can take off some layers so your girls will be more evident! Gotta show 'em off. How neat that you will see an old friend! I just had a call from a lady that I did decorating for, 14 yrs ago....we only kept in touch with christmas cards, so it was a delight hearing from her by phone! She is 86 and still does volunteer work, but recently lost her husband. I really need to get by to visit her as she is such a neat person! So you are right Dorothy, this is shaping into a much better day than we have been having. Now the icing on the cake would be if junie is doing so much better today...I am hoping for that!

Still waiting for our DOTD.....Lori is traveling, so looking for HD, AStorm, or NM, to think of some neat concoction! OR anyone else!

    Drink Up!

I think in order for us to forget yesterday as it was a shocker we should try this as the DOTD!

    THE SHOCKER

    1/2 oz Brandy
    1 1/2 oz Sherry
    1/2 oz French Vermouth
    1/2 oz Cointreau
    3 tbsp lemon juice
    1 piece cinnamon stick

In a mixing glass combine all but cinnamon. Stir and strain into glass. Drop in cinnamon and serve.

    TITZ UP!!!

This is a great topic - my problem is I have lost my taste for alcohol - now if I could only say that about cigarettes. I still have wine on occaision and Malibu and Diet squirt but I just don't like it that much ever since tx - I've always kind of thought that one of the reasons I got BC in the first place was because I used to drink - sometimes way too much. My husband died in 2004 when I was only 44 and booze was my best friend, and led me to make a bunch of unwise choices. But  never would have found my current husband if he hadn't gotten me drunk at a wedding reception. Does anyone else have guilt about prior boozing?

Hi Ellie and welcome! All guilt is left at the HTL door because here we just have fun! and most of our drinking and partying is virtual so.......no hangovers, no sick stomachs, no headaches and best of all no calories!!!!!!!
