Boy this thread moves fast!!!!  I love reading everyone's stories!

NM - sorry to hear about your grandma.  I'm glad she didn't want everyone to be sad for her.  Sounds like she was a really cool grammy.  :)

Thanks everyone for the congrats!  I'm getting my port out on Monday!  Woo Hoo!  PARTAY!!  Then Tuesday I go for another ultrasound on my ovaries.  The fun never ends.  I'm thinking about getting my ooph/hyst in April.  I need a break from doctors and hospitals!

Chrissy B - I'm so glad everything was ok with your DD.  Another reason to PARTAY!!

I have a Wii and just played with it last night.  I got Just Dance 2 for Christmas.  It was pretty good exercise.  My DH sat on the sofa and laughed.  I did pretty well.  I used to dance - like jazz, tap, ballet - not stripper dance! LOL!  You can't say your a "dancer" here in Vegas.  People get the wrong impression. I learned that the hard way!

Yummm... PIE!!!  My DH doesn't like pie much.  He's more of a cake and ice cream kind of guy.  My mom has always made pies from scratch.  My favorite is her fresh apricot pie.

So, my dog Bear is sleeping with his head on my pillow and must be dreaming about running.  My cat Shakira is laying across my arms (which makes it hard to type).  So much for trying to sleep!

Oh sorry girls any mention of PIE and I start to drool and the pie demon takes over my body....not a pretty sight.  I think I'm under control now.......I hope!  Starting to feel better on the Aunty-B's and the doc was right when he said a couple of days and I would start to feel better and I do.  The biggest problem is I"M NOT ALLOWED TO DRINK!!!!! Like absolutely NO ALCOHOL!  Hotdam that's harsh!  Guess I'll just have to swim on over the down under swim up bar and just hang for the conversation.........maybe I can have a lemonade?  no alcohol there!!!

I wonder if there is some what to combine trampoline jumping and housework?

How about a Jolly Jumper as the DOTD?

    4 cl Vodka
    4 cl Gin
    4 cl Whisky
    4 cl Passoa
    Orange Juice

ROFLMAO....what a great way to wake up, reading everyone's posts! NM, great drink! Cute "tramp" girl jumping w/ water on the tramp.

Chrissy, First time I had a Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie was prob about 4 yrs ago at a casino in Mississippi and fell in love with it. I'll search for a recipe....never made it...but it has a regular crust (only part I don't eat!) with a layer of hard chocolate on the bottom, then a whipped peanut butter filling, then some whipped cream and chocolate curls. I am sure there are other versions, but I really love it this way. Glad the anti-b's are working! Oh, okay, if you keep twisting my arm, I will drink doubles so I can drink for you. Sheesh, what we have to do around here! LOL.

Kittycat, YAY....so good to get the port out. You are smart to delay the other surgery and just be doctor-free for awhile. Funny about mentioning being a dancer in  LV! My youngest DD was a dancer too (like you, but just ballet) and was in the Nutcracker productions each year. That became a Christmas ritual for us....starting in October with rehearsals. That stopped when she went to a Math/Science high school in Mobile when she was 15 (7 hr drive from home), as they were new and didn't have any way to get her to classes locally. CHristmas was so different after that! But after she had her 3 kids and was in Atlanta, she took ballet again for awhile, and still loved it. I think once you are a dancer, and love dancing, it never totally leaves you. I bet you did real good with the Wii. And I love the icecream/cake pics you posted! Yummmmm....

Sorry gals, somehow I hit a wrong key when typing above, and don't know how to change it! Toooo early in the morning for me! Guess I better finish my cuppa joe and mosey on over to the buffet and the mimosa fountains! Yummmmeeeeeeeeee! Sunday Brunch Partay!!!!!

    ChEARS,

    Kathy

Went cycling, not skiing yesterday.  Looks like a long walk in the rain today.

RainCityGirl.....my grandmother was French Canadian, so think this is from that side of the family.  Anyway, certainly the pea soup is.  I have a neighbor's Tourtiere recipe, as quite easy to make.  You can buy them in the supermarkets in Canada, or at least in Quebec/Ontario.

Their is a "Pie and Pints" joint in North Seattle, so might be worth a visit.

Raining and foul out, so suspect I will shift things around and do a ride tomorrow.  Long walk today.  Need to get dressed and out the door for church right now.

Now, I could follow the New England tradition of pie for breakfast.  Tons better than toaster pastries.  Mmmmmmmm........

I have only recently started to like pies - OK, I mean fruit pies of course I like chocolate pies! My all time favorite was Boston Creme pie made with real boiled custard and bittersweet icing but then that isn't really pie now is it? I did always like blueberry pies - the other cooked fruit just didn't do it fo me but I'm trying to learn!

Love the wee wet tramp ! I used to love to jump on our wet trampoline - just got soaked!

Kathy, that peanut butter pie would have to have lots more chocolate for me!

Kittycat! I'm so happy for you!!! I'll bet you are a fabulous dancer! Glad your sweet pets are keeping you company.

Claire- I'm curious I'll have to look up those two reciped raincity mentioned. What is that about pea soup? Anyone remember that chain resturant called The Magic Pan? They had the most fabulous Potage St. Germain served with a little bit of Sherry. I still dream about that soup.....

Well goodess talk about waking up hungry!!!

LMAO, Stanzie! Puleez post a pic of the type you like, as I am sure I would like it too, esp if it has MORE chocolate!

Just talked to Junie, and she sounds good, but of course getting tired of being in the hospital for 2 wks! Tomorrow they will go in and see if they can take the tube out and if her lung will be ok on its own. So keep praying for her!!! I will check back tomorrow and hope for good news.

Heading over to my parents soon with a BIG bottle of Australian Moscato. Can you say "Happy Hour"???!! Before opening it, I need to connect a new printer for them. Taking over my chicken/mushroom/wild rice casserole too and will make a salad with romaine, mandarin oranges, walnuts, and ginger dressing. Easier to eat there....then I don't need to clean my house...LOL

Hope its a good Sunday for everyone!.

Pies, yay! I was once dubbed the Queen of Pies in our neighborhood because I made apple pie for new neighbors, or to cheer up people. I'm especially known for my apple pie. We have apple trees and well, how many apples can you eat without cinnamon and sugar and buttery crust? I started making pies pretty early in life... my dad loved pies and we always had some kind of fruit in abundance. Unfortunately the fruit in abundance right now is oranges... hmm maybe the Meyer lemons will ripen by Saturday. Actually there is a Key Orange Pie recipe somewhere that I haven't tried... I think it has Grand Marnier in it so how bad could it be?

It is a glorious day and I am indoors working. :(  Good thing tomorrow is a holiday... hope the weather holds up!

    hey there girl friends,

I am checking in to see if my girls are around, I am heading to the HTL for a drinky-poo or two or four.

A-storm, I love love love apple pies.  At one point in my life, I was addicted to them between TG and Christmas.  I would cook them (Mrs. Smiths), put cool whip on them and eat them mostly myself.  That is one of my favorite sweets. I did have to knock it off as I gained alot of weight. I was also once addicted to Texas Toast and also choco-chip cookie dough. That was during my unemployment back in 2001.  I think I gained twenty pounds but quickly lost it when I started at my current job.  The stress took away my appetite all together and I lost all the weight and then some. I am not much of a cook, I consider my stove ornamental lol. But if you could bring some homemade apple pie to the lounge, you would be my new bff!

Chrissy, glad you are feeling better.  I am so so happy for you, I bet you are on a cloud in feeling better and getting over that fn scare with your DD. I am however so sorry you can not drink.  I hope you get clearance to booze it up real soon.

Wahine, thanks for the update on Junie.  Please tell her DH that I am asking about her.  I will be praying that the lung stays expanded once the tube is removed.  I truly miss her here and it pains me knowing she has been away from home for so long.  That just sucks.  I will pop in the chapel and pray for a great outcome tomorrow.

Kitty Kat, I am with you on being doc free for awhile.  I am having a problem with pain in my arm and wondering if it has to do with node dissection. It is at the back of my arm and just stings constantly. I am thinking if it persists, I will have to get on the phone and figure out which doc to see. I did read something about "cording" and wonder if that is it. The pain has been with me since my exchange but I hadn't noticed it over the pain from the cuts.  Oh well, I guess this is a little thing and I shall not fret.  I am taking only advit for now as I have had enough pain pills for awhile and am trying to detox from percocet.  I hope you and your hubby celebrate the end of your treatment.  And keep on dancing girl, I always wished I was coordinated enough for that.  I do get great satisfaction in watching my DD dance as I find it so beautiful.

DH is making me nuts.  He wants me to sit with him and watch football while he screams at the TV.  I often remind him to use his inside voice, he just can't help letting loud then gets hurt when I leave the room. I only root for my home team and since they are out, I have zero interest. Waiting for the superbowl to be done and looking forward to baseball and the start of American Idol.  Both these events mean that Spring is in the air!!! Yeee haw!! I am hating winter more and more each year.  I understand why old people move south.  I would love to but have too many roots here in NJ.

Well I am ranting so better think of moving to a barstool in the lounge now and having a few fukitols, and several drinks.  Join me everyone, someone, anyone lol!!!

Wishing you all the best. Cheers and blessings to all!!!

I got out and did a walk.  Turned out I could have gone cycling, but enjoyed the walk around Green Lake for a change of pace.  And four miles of walking today is not that bad.  Will get on my bicycle tomorrow.

I did some serious research and concluded that Chocolati hot chocolate is not nearly as good as Chocolate Box.  But a really nice reward.  Both are the real deal, made with real chocolate, and with whipped cream on top.

I can see that the days are getting longer and brighter, and some early signs that spring is on its way.  I laughed at the ducks showing off diving for food at the bottom of Green Lake.  And young puppies for whom this is their first winter.

I think I will be ready to ski by the time National Pie day hits.....and that there will be fresh powder again.  So just in time to really enjoy the day.

    cHairs! - Claire

Dorothy - My DH loves sports. If he isn't playing something he is watching it on TV. I might get interested in a game once in awhile but I can't stand to watch it with him because he gets so excited... and if I ask him a question (since I don't totally understand some of the things they are doing) he bites my head off like it is sooo important that he FOCUS on the game. When the kids were little we got rid of our TV and he used to go to a bar to watch games because I thought it hurt their feelings when he ignored them or expected them to be quiet during a game... plus TV is not good for kids. If I do want to watch a game, I usually watch it in another room so we have 2 TVs on with the same game (I know, not eco-friendly but it's rare that I watch TV at all and it saves our marriage). Don't know if I should save you a piece of apple pie or not... I wish I craved just one thing at a time. I find that when I am stressed or feeling bad about something I tend to just eat whatever sounds good... and by good I mean good for the spirit bad for the waistline.

I brought some apple pie to the HTL to share. I took dinner and wine to my parents and they had bought an apple pie. So I didn't have dessert, and brought it for you all to have, since I don't like it. The lake was full of Canada Geese today....they are so beautiful....prob about 30+ of them in the yard next door, then more of them on the lake. And a heron was waiting for me, at their lakefront. I know my mom loves it so much and dreads going back to Hawaii in a month! Enjoy all your pies everyone. I think I will get some CHOCOLATE!!!! LOL.

Lori - Happy to see you back but sorry you have a cold !

Karen- Wow, I tried Ambian once a number of year ago and it knocked me out cold. Sorry you are having a hard time sleeping. I'm taking Dr. Kathy solution of Melatonin- it works most of the time for me.

Stanzie, so glad the melatonin is working for you! Karen, if you want to try it, just get 3mg at the drug store....takes a few days to work, then you can take every night or skip a night or two every so often. I use it too, and I sure sleep a lot better.

DH has to get our truck windshield replaced by tomorrow so he can go to Tunica. Was just a small "chip", but when he put the heater on with all the cold temps outside, it went ****c-r-a-c-k***! Thought it could be repaired, but a guy came out this am, and said it is too big to fix. AUWE, at least it is replaceable. Hope none of you gals in the NE states was hit bad by that recent storm. We still have a lot of snow in the yard, but streets finally look clear! Have a good holiday everyone!!!

Kath...I have 2 big line cracks in my windshield....one is on the passenger side near the edge of the window and the other goes along the bottom almost all the way across the windshield....DH was in the car this morning with me and says its not safe and we need to get a new windshield, but I'm waiting till it gets worse...hopefully it can get through winter....its been that way for quite some time...

I've tried melatonin and it doesn't work either....I started with 3 mg and forget how high I went...maybe to 9.....A couple weeks ago, I was sleeping good so thought after almost 5 years, this insomnia was resolving....but now I think its because I wasn't feeling good.....

Gorgeous day out here in Denver...going to meet a gf shortly....not sure if we'll just gab, go to a movie or go to lunch....thinking lunch and maybe a walk....how about a glass of wine!!!!

Been in kind of a funk the past couple days....not sure if I posted it here already or not, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself...remember I have CRS!!!...an acquaintance of mine who is about 7 or 8 years out from Dx has had a recurrence recently....not much has been said, but we know its in the bones and I fear also in the brain as she has been in the hospital since the Monday after New Years....her husband told someone that there are good treatment options or they wouldn't be in the hospital.......We have pretty much the same Dx and we are close in age....this is hitting really close to home......when I was Dx, she called both my husband and me to talk....Yesterday I went and got stuff to put together a goody bag.....Build-A-Bear "lots of hugs bear", 2 large  bags of     M and M's, soft and fuzzy slipper socks, soft and fuzzy scarf, coffee cup with hot cocoa packets in a cute tote bag....may also put some home made cookies in......She's not taking visitors, but I'm going to take it up to the hospital and bring it to the nursing station to give it to her.....Not sure if she likes stuffed animals, but I do....just something to say I care and I am thinking about her.....Did I ever tell you that I HATE BC!!!  Please keep her in your thoughts, prayers...

Have a great Monday....off to finish putting on my make-up and go see my gf.....(((((HUGS)))))

DorothyK-lots of apple pie in Maine from October through Thanksgiving. My favorite New England twist is to replace some of the shortening or butter in the crust with sharp cheddar cheese. One lady at church always puts a thin layer of sharp cheddar over the apples before putting on the top crust. Amazingly yummy! About screaming hubby-I used to go to a gym that I loved except the music was played so loud I got ringing ears and headaches after a few minutes. I started wearing ear plugs, problem solved! Maybe you could put an earplug in the ear towards hubby? Or both ears, for that matter. You can still hear through the soft spongy type, but they do dampen the painfully loud sounds.

Claire-wish you were here in Maine, I think ALL the skiing is open now!

Beacher-rads kills a lot of cells, and damages a lot more. The dead and damaged cells release a lot of toxic chemicals into the blood for the liver to filter out. The liver and kidneys are working overtime all through and for a month after rads to keep the toxic crud cleared out and if there is any damage to either, or if either is not functioning at top capacity detoxifying alcohol can push them over the edge into total failure. Also, alld during rads all the nutrients your body takes in are being used to repair or replace rad damaged or killed cells, so very little energy and nutritients are available for the usual "maintenance" of the liver, kidneys, skin, and other organs.

    Welcome home, goldie!

Now to figure out a DOTD.  Oooh, this looks appropriate::Instant Apple Pie Recipe

NM, At least you didn't delete it! So often I am typing furiously on this little netbook, almost thru with my post and *bam* I hit a wrong key and it is gone into cyber la-la-land.

Karen, My mom got off her sleeping pills by taking melatonin along with benadryl. Wonder if that combo would work for you? So sorry to hear about your bc friend, but so sweet of you to fix that nice goodybag for her! Bet that build-a-bear will cheer her up. About the windshield, ours for the truck will be around $200, and they even come to our house to do it. So thats worth it to have it fixed. I would worry about the cracks in your windshield, with having to have the heat or defrost on. One time a car I used to have developed  big crack when I put it on defrost, as it had the extra heating elements in the windshield, and without thinking I also had that on! But since that was a lot of $$$ to replace with the same type, we just had a regular one put in to save money. Hope yours will not crack any further!

Think I will run some errands before pau hana time......ChEARS Y'all!
