I'm still getting slammed with work but January will be over soon enough and then I'll wonder where all my clients went... DD1 got accepted at her college of choice! Yay? At least it's within striking distance if she doesn't behave herself. The wiener-dog is doing great with his sit-stay-don't-bolt-out-the-front-door training.

Looks just like him (well, except for the halo). The weather here is beautiful with a clear blue sky but still a chill in the air. Lovely!

Claire - so true about living each day to the fullest... I love reading your posts because it is so easy to get caught up with work and kids and nonsense, but you are a constant reminder for me to enjoy my day!

Hunkydory  - stay warm... BRRRRR ... I only like ice when it clinks in my glass!

Lori - you're right it was a titmouse. The names are so funny I get them confused. I'm going to just call them tit-birds.

We do get an occasional bushtit as well but they aren't tufted. Mmm, thanks for the fuzzy navel...

and the Ice Breakers too, NM. I haven't had ice on my windshield since DH bought me a new ice scraper last week that I'm anxious to try out.

Well I'm going to put my jacket on and go sit in the sun and pretend it is summer...

Hi all....my A$$ is dragging my tracks out today.  I just can't seem to get my energy up since this last surgery.  Guess it just takes time.  Was on my feet a lot today and I find my back painful after a day of that.  I am starting happy hour and praying Junie can get well.  I know this is so tough for her hubby too.

Ya know what...I think Beans has been galavanting around the country where it's warm in scantily clad clothing!

Is it just me, or do ya think she is getting a tan?  She sure has a nice glow anyway.  Well, I am headed for the hot tub.  I am no where near warm yet.  Now I can't even go back a page and see what our DOTD was.  I'll take one whatever it is.  Beans....come on and join me.  Humpty Dumpty Day!  HD

Hi HD, I will join you for Humpty Dumpty day.....do you realize that is the same initials that Hunky Dory has? Sorry you have had such a hard day, and hope you can take it easy now, at home. Surgery takes such a long time to recover from, and I sure don't want you to have any problems from that! I like your "Green Beans"......think maybe she will come back and post now???? There were 2 DOTD's, but the first one was the "Fuzzy Fuzzy Navel"...made with champagne, so I had Pants add the peach schnapps to the mimosa fountain, which took care of that! SO, just grab a tall glass, fill it up, and enjoy the evening! Nice and relaxing, sitting here by the pool, with the tiki torches lit, nice warm breeze......

HELLO? HELLO? It's me! I am never here for evening Pau Hana, but I am tonight. But just for a short bit, or should I say a "quickie"?

Gail, I LOVE the shirts, and I would SOOOO wear one.

Dorothy, I get a kick out of typos, and Junie is the Queen, but you made a good one. "non-demoninational chapel" of course I know what you meant "non denominational" but still had to chuckle Wink. You made another one too (paradedics). Sounds like you have been hitting one of the fountains! As for you arm pain, it does sound like cording or just the nerves, but def. you should get it checked out.

HD, love the Green Bean Giant! There is a town we drive thru on our way to Phx that is called the "Little Green Valley" and I always think of the Green Bean Giant. Where ever our Beans is at, I hope she is having a wonderful time. And you my dear, just don't over do it. I think you have probably hit the record here for the most surgeries in the least amount of time.

Stanzie, sorry to hear of more probs with SO. Seems like you two have alot of those. I am not one to butt in on someone elses relationships, but you are a beautiful woman, are you sure you two are meant to be together? Good deal on working out with a trainer. I only wish I had TIME to do something like that.

Kathy, thank you so much for Junies reports. I am sorry to hear she has to have more surgery Cry , and major at thatI Wish we all lived closer so we could go visit her. Does she have her net book? I thought you said you were sending an E-Card?

Ok, I am having a ML, one of Junie's faves. Ummmmmmm, on second thought, maybe 2!

I am outta here in the morning, so see all of you fine young ladies Monday morning.

Raising My Glass.......I mean can..........to Junie!

Hi Lori, I think Junie does have her netbook, as she did post one time here, from the hospital. But you can send ecards through the hospital, and they print them out and deliver them the next day! I sent you an email on that. Have safe travels tomorrow!!!!

Don't know how I missed Stanzie's and Dorothy's posts today! Reread back, when Lori mentioned your fight with your SO, Stanzie. I agree with her, you are a beautiful woman, and deserve to be happy. There are PLENTY of men out there, and I know you will find one that will treat you well. But we all have to make our own decisions on that, and I just wish you the best! Dorothy, I will relay your wishes to Junie. And that was so funny when you made the pun that the older brother would be in "hot water" with the family....LOL.

Love everyone's posts here! Drink Up!

karen - so sorry to hear about your friend.  I think that's so nice of you to bring her a goodie bag.  I'm sure her family appreciated it, too.  I have a friend from college who is losing her battle with colon cancer.  She's at home getting hospice care.  It breaks my heart.  She and I were corresponding a lot when we were both going through chemo over the summer.  She's only 43 years old, married with 2 young children.  The Jewish tradition seems really nice.  My sister's DH is Jewish.  They had a multi-demonimational (sp?) wedding, since she is Christian.  It was really nice.

NM - thank you for the info on rads and alcohol.  This makes sense to me.  I've had a couple drinks here and there and wake up feeling awful.  My friend Lorraine told me it might be the combo with rads that makes me feel bad.  I'm going to stick to mainly water for the next few weeks.  I did have  small margarita tonight, but had lots of water, too!

Goldie - I'm also in Phoenix for work.  Too bad I didn't know you were going to be here.  We could have hooked up!  :)

I will keep Junie in my prayers!  I hope she's feeling better soon!

    Cheers everyone!

Just wanted to stop by and say night...I'm tired, so going to go to bed shortly....stayed up way too late last night....the funeral service for my friend (more an acquaintance/children's former teacher) was just beautiful...her husband spoke at length and then read what their daughter wrote.  It was very touching.  The service was in the synagogue...decided to go to the burial at the cemetary afterwards...it was bitter cold...Found out tonight from another friend that J knew for a year that she had bone mets...and by the time they found the brain mets last week it was too late....the family was very private and little was ever said....no mention of her cancer at the service...she was an 7 or 8 year survivor.

At the service, I saw someone else I am friendly with...my big kids and her kids went to elementary school together.....she is a 12 year survivor from 1st Dx.....4 1/2 years since 2nd Dx (a couple months after my Dx)...but has been living with mets for 5 1/2 years....the cancer has spread and is all over in her bones and also in her liver.....she is starting chemo again tomorrow  (I think xoleda)....DAMN!!! I hate this disease!!!

Please include my name on a card for Junie...that is so sweet of you to include us....and let her know we are all thinking about her....

Love the picture of the old man with the pick ax (I almost wrote another a**)!!!  I've never learned how to post pictures here.

It turned very cold here this afternoon...got colder throughout the day and we got snow....only a few inches, but enough to make travel lousy...

Need to try one of the DOTD...but gals...they are looking pretty strong!!!  how about we open up a wine bar as well!!!  I start with a glass or Merlot please...at least here...haven't had any in my hand since the week-end.

Sweet dreams....off to crawl into bed...Ambien here I come!!!  only 6 hours till I have to get up!!!  :)

Goodness Gracious it is Thursday! Karen, we added a wine bar per your request, and starting the first DOTD with a glass of wine:

And here is a wine bar for us.....

    Or how about this one?

Kittycat, So very sorry to hear about your college friend. I hate this disease the most, when it affects such young gals, and esp when there are young children that will be left behind. Cancer Sucks! OR to translate into Spanish...... CANCER CHUPA! Karen, Hope you got some sleep, but glad you were able to be at the service and burial. I was up till 3 am, as I wanted to get the caulk out of the shower so I can redo it while DH is away. What a job that was! Let's have some wine and enjoy a Terrific Thursday and hope things will start looking up for everyone!

    ChEARS! TITZ UP! CANCER CHUPA!

    Hi everyone,

I think I like the wine bar with the bubbles...whatta great idea. Is it too much to ask to post a dotd and a wotd (wine of the day)?

I am sorry for all of you ladies how have lost friends over this God aweful disease. Cancer sucks indeed. I had a friend who passed away back in the Fall from pancreatic cancer, she was a class mate of mine.  I have a cousin in law who was diagnosed with brain cancer a few years ago and only given a few months to live.  She has gone to specialists out of state and getting treatment which is not approved by the FDA.  My cousin is a doctor and has connections but she is a living miracle.  Her name is Carolyn. The sad thing is that my cousin lost his brother in the line of duty, he was a cop and was shot and killed in Texas.  I hate when things like that happen to good people.  None of us deserve to have had to endure what we did.

I did call my ps about the pain.  He said that it sounds like a nerve inflamtion and suggested I call my bs. I can not stand it.  I feel like someone rubbed off my skin with a wire brush!  I am not happy with my bs and never wanted to see him again but I will call, eventually. I am at least glad it is not node related.

Enough whining out of me, went I said WOTD, I meant wine, not whine!

I was able to spend some time outdoors this morning and it was nice.  My main job was to pick up poo in my yard and drain the pool cover.  What fun!  Really though, it felt nice to be in the sun and the temp is right at freezing which feels warm relative to what we have had.  We are having a snow storm tonight, I am hoping for not too much more. Bring on Spring, two months to go!!!

Goldie, I do not use spell check although I should.  I do believe I have dyslexia. I often spell my own name wrong, doorthy!!  I have a great story about my Mom using spell check years ago.  She wrote me an email and was telling me all about a shark aquarium she and Dad visited.  She said that she was very surprised to hear that sharks only attack when they are "perverted", of course she meant to say provoked but probably spelled it pervoked and chose perverted.  We all died laughing at the perverted sharks!!! She, like me, has a history of messing things up.  My sisters and I laugh at her over things like this, of course out of love.  Mom has not emailed me in a year as her vision is failing along with her memory. It is so sad. They live in SC so we do not see them often.

To all of you, have a great day and keep up the happy thoughts for Junie. We want our Junie back. And Beans too!!! Love ya all!

Dorothy, Of course we can have a DOTD and a WOTD, or if we just want wine, it is a drink too, so it could also be a DOTD. Glad you called your dr....if you don't like your BS, maybe you could start seeing someone new, with this current problem? In any case, call someone asap so you can get relief. No worries about spelling errors....I type too fast and later on I notice all sorts of errors I made...sometimes I correct them, sometimes I just ignore them....lol. I do know how to spell though, and my oldest DD won the state spelling bee. Oh, all those hours of testing her on words.....we could crack up laffing (spelled that way on purpose) when we would get so tired and loopy. But hey, we enjoy everyone's posts, so do not worry about spell check! After all, we need some laffs too, right???

Kathy - thanks for the wine bar! Nice addition to HTL. I like the bubble lounge the best. Hey, it's noon... that means it's ok to have a glass of wine now.... oh, I mean with lunch of course!

Dorothy - I really think it is important to feel good about your care providers. In fact, I'm going to see a new onco this afternoon. I changed plastic surgeons twice and finally got it right.

Hunky - your phone must have spellcheck!

    hugs and prayers for Junie.

Astorm, I also changed plastic surgeons along the way.  I liked my BS alot until he told me that he would bet his life savings that I had BC when he did my biopsy. Then he moved and never notified me. I showed up at my first preop visit to find doors locked. I called and got the answering service who told me the office was closed.  I flipped out when I got to the new location.  I later found out that he had a falling out with his colleagues and moved quite quickly. I love my new PS and my ONC.  I guess I will have to start inquiring about a new BS. A friend suggested I ask my primary but he is the one that set me up with the BS and PS that I do not like.  I will figure it out.

I will be praying for Junie, poor thing having to have major surgery.  I got goose bumps when I read Kathy's post.  And let's not forget to pray for Mr. Junie, he must be scared to death. BC sucks so bad.

Anywho, thanks all for your support. I hope and pray that everyone here gets well. I miss Chrissy and Beans, I really do.

Kathy, that is cool that your DD won a spelling bee. I got close in high school and was beat my a freaking foreign exchange student from Italy! Go figure.

Pau Hana time! Thanks gilz, for all the prayers for Junie and her DH. You all are so sweet and caring, and I know she will be so touched when she reads all of these pages of posts she has missed. I can't believe she has been in the hospital for 2 1/2 wks! No update yet; I did try to call, but couldn't reach anyone. I know recovery will be hard, so I don't really want to bother them, and will probably wait to call again, tomorrow.

Dorothy, Hope you can find a new BS....that is really hard, but so important when you are not totally happy with your dr. Instead of asking your primary, how about his nurse or receptionist, and see what other BS's they can recommend. I know it is touchy. My first PS who was horrid, was recommended by my BS, who I love. It was real hard to do, esp just 4 days b4 my scheduled bilat/recon, but I did finally cancel the first PS and went to an excellent PS. And he and my BS worked very well together. Even though it meant delaying my surgery it was so worth it! I hope you can get that pain taken care of!

Having Happy Hour alone here....Pants and Jocks have nothing else to do, but pamper me rotten. OH, the attention.....the massages...pure heaven. But I would be willing to share their services, if someone would join me here! C'mon girls, lets drink up!!!

She prob still won't be able to go home for a week or so, and is very weak. This had nothing to do with bc, or any other cancer. This made my night! YAY!!!! TIME TO CELEBRATE!!!!!

Oh how dreadful - Boy I hope she gets the most fabulous celebration ever when she gets to go home. I'm so happy for her and her husband hopefully can finally breathe and go home and get some real sleep. So hope she will recover very quickly!

Yes Kathy there is the S. word but it just got down graded to flurries for tomorrow but Sunday/Monday could be ice that is what is so horrible. How about you all?

Stanzie, I don't feel comfortable giving her dx, but will leave that up to junie, when she gets back. I just wanted to alleviate any fears of the "C" word. They are still in St. Louis, at least a 5+hr drive from home, so her DH won't get to be home till she can leave the hospital. He is able to stay at his DD's house though, which is nice. It has started raining here, and is supposed to become snow when the temps drop.Which of course means the roads will freeze overnight (20's). EEK I hope you don't get that dang ice on Sund/Mon! They are predicting more snow for us on Tues, I think. What a strange winter for the deep South!!!

So thrilled to hear about Junie.  But a not fun time ahead, so will keep my prayers going.

BTW - one of my friends was using wine celebrations a year ago to make sure his prayers for me were on track.  Now that is true friendship!!!

I am off to the wine bar.  Where I need to be after all my work today.  Whew......  I think I blew out a few brain cells.

On the topic of hitching.  My friend Amanda and I got stranded about 10 months ago in nowheresville at the end of the Foothills Trail.  She was riding my spare bicycle and had a flat.  I had a sliced thumb so couldn't change a flat either.  Fortunately, I was able to sweet talk a couple of guys on motorcycles into going back and helping us out.

One of them drove us in his pickup truck back to my car which was more than 15 miles away.

I had much better stories than most chemo patients Innocent

OMG, I thought her surgery was tomorrow, my bad! I am SO glad she made it and happy that I will not have to worry about this tomorrow.  Pants, bring me a jjack and a jack n coke, and please add a splash of watermellon cooler.  Let's celebrate life!

Stanzie, have a great time at the symphony.  I envy that your involved in singing and performing.  I play piano and flute and used to play in a band, for about ten years until I started my current job and had to give it up as I did not have time.  I actually had my flute out yesterday and was playing for DH, I played Colour My World by Chicago and also "heard it in a love song". I sometimes dub over piano and flute together and find it OH so fun playing with my darnself lol.

HD, love love love your pic, I am lmao here.  I may try that, who know's, maybe there is a tender out there that has a thing with cougars, Rrwlllllll !!

Expecting snow to start anytime now. I would check the doplar but would end up loosing what I wrote here.

Hey, I have an idea, let's get Pants and Jocks on the bus to care for Junie; we have the tenders and I am sure Kathy won't mind if they leave her to care for Junie.  She is probably too drunk to even notice they are gone.  Tender, please refill our drinks.  Bottomz up!

Claire, funny story about the motorcycle guys! Hey, did you use your sliced thumb as a "card" while hitch hiking?? haha!  You will be happy to know that I got off my arse today and picked up about ten pounds of dog poo in my back yard.  My body actually feels the workout.  Baby steps, my friend, I am sure trying.  Glad to see ya here.

Claire, HD and Kath, let's go to the chapel for a little prayer session for Junie.  We will ask God to make her recovery smooth as can be and send peaceful thoughts to her dear husband and DD.  We can then go back to the pool and chill out and listen to the music while we wait for Karen to join us.  Anyone else wanna join us? The outdoor pool is perfect temp, the stars are bright and it is a beautiful evening. Let's pray n party! To all of you, get your tits up and your asses out here!! Chears!

OMG, I get so many laughs from everyones posts....love them! Dorothy, you didn't miss anything, because yesterday when I talked to junie's DH, he thought the surgery would be Friday, so it surprised me too, when I called and she was being prepped for surgery. Don't worry, you are keeping up with everything very well! Dang it, I wish I was drunk and wouldn't notice....lol. But YES, lets let the TT's take care of our junie. And after we spend some time in the chapel, I think we ALL should get picked up by our bus and head over to St. Louis. The TT's and Wenches can pamper us on the way over, and then they can stay there to get junie well. This is turning into a good night!

YAY for JUNIE! No doubt all the positive energy flowing from the HTL has helped but I hope she gets stronger every hour and out of the hospital soon.

OMG, HD, I haven't had Tanqueray in sooooo long! T&t used to be my go-to drink... sometimes I would add some lime and mint just to change it up a bit

... sadly I stopped drinking gin after a bad hangover from a New Years' Eve party several years ago... hmmm... but that was probably the bad, cheap kind.... there was also a martini phase during which I had only one, but always made with Bombay Sapphire and an extra olive. I haven't had a martini since my dx.

Went to my new ocno this afternoon and was surprised to be greeted by a different doctor (than the one I made the appointment with). I hate that but I think he is good and he did at least introduce me to the doctor I thought I was getting. There aren't enough onco's in this area and they are all really busy. Her previous partner just retired and this new guy is taking new patients. He did spend a lot of time with me, which I don't usually get because I'm a "simple" case. Sounds like he has had a lot of exposure to the complex cases... OH! and the good news is all that iron I've been taking has helped -- for the first time ever I am not anemic!  or maybe it's from the Iron Butterflies...

    1 shot vodka
    1 shot Kahlua® coffee liqueur
    1 shot Irish cream

So, dats it for nowsey. Much love and hugs and smoochey kisses. Cheers! Your pal, Beanie
