Joining the PAR-TAY a bit late. Got home late after taking various people back. We got everyone in the Subaru!!!!!
And we didn't lose any skis either (we stuffed them in a ski bag and lashed them to the roof rack). I wore out my friend Amanda as she did the 12 miles with me. Another glorious day. Think even prettier than yesterday. Harder to do the uphill climbs though as a bit slick.
Feeling wonderful after a hot bath. Have dinner a-cooking, and have had a glass of wine.

Thanks for celebrating with me all weekend. I have to work tomorrow but I have sure enjoyed a non-rushed, go-nowhere weekend. Back to the grind tomorrow, although I'm still only part-time so it's very doable.

I'm here! I'm here! Yup just stealing a little time on the net, my compute is still outa de akshun! Damn!!! Oh, welcome to the new gals, thanks for joinin us!!! we're a weird mob but a goodie.....lol. Have been working my a@@ off getting ready for the surgery on Wednesday. Need to leave the house spick and span cos I'm gonna be outa akshun with the shoulder and the doc says at least a three month healing time.....Ugh!!!! Wahhhh!!!!! I will be able to do little things, but not what I call the heavy cleaning bit.....needless to say, it's just not gonna get done until I'm up to full steam again. I have finally organised myself and upgraded out internet access so I will never be shut out again.....Yay!!!! I've ordered 100Gb so the other half and I can use as much as we desire. The problem was that the dear one had discovered that the computer is actually a good thing as he found Utube and the music that is available and now spends all his free time using up the gigs with his toe tapping and I get locked out....mmm .......descision well made I think! Well gals, drinks are defiately in order and I'm thinking I need a strong one or two with a whole lotta company......heading for the pool deck and nice comfy lounge..... PANTS!!!!!! drinks please and keep em coming........TITZ UP!!!!!! and toes and anything else that can RISE!!!!!

Oh, my, the poor newbies! Here's the scoop for you: Pants and Jocks are our bartenders, called Tattie Tenders here in the Hot TaTa Lounge. The Wenches are Kandi, Skates, and one whose name escapes me just at the moment. This lounge has unlimited supplies of any and every likker imaginable, and the Tenders and Wenches can make any drink we want in large quantities. They are also very skilled at massage therapy, the nursing care of women after surgery, and even do housework!
The lounge has a pool with swim up bar, and a HUGE flat screen TV so we can watch whatever we want while reclining in pool floaties or beside the pool.
There's a hammock lounge area for us who like to relax that way.
The casino has machines that dispense money whenever we walk by them, and every game and type of slot machine ever made.
There's a doggy park with its own dedicated pooper scooper for those of us with furbabies.
The local firemen visit frequently as we have been known to set a fire or two, not always by accident, either!
The most recent addition is a chapel, complete with comfy seating and bar service.
I know Ive missed at least some of the amenities here, but others will be along shortly to fill in the holes. If we don't have something you want, add it! That's how the lounge has grown.
Now we need a DOTD (Drink of the Day) to welcome the newbies--

To answer your question re surgery, when I was dx'd with the mets, my left humerus was very badly affected and so it was decided to stabilize it with a pin and to hold it in place until the bone grew over the entry point of the pin through the shoulder, they placed two screws top and bottom. Over the last two years, I have had good response to medication and the cancer in that particular bone has almost totally resolved and new bone has grown but at the head of the shoulder, the bone is stable but shrunk and now the screws are sitting proud and each time I move my arm they catch on the soft tissue and muscle and cause me great pain and because of this much restriction of movement. To alleviate this problem, I am having the top two screws removed. It will be painfull as the bone will be once again injured in the process but once healed I will not have any further trouble with it.......Yahoo!!! Mind you, not looking forward to the pain but I am looking forward to after the healing. I will be in theatre at about 2.00 pm Wednesday 23rd and I will definately look for you all.
Dotty I do hope that both the girls return home with you tomorrow and whatever needs to be done is not much. Holding your hand all the way girl!

Goldie, love your avatar you gorgeous girl you! I'm expecting all of you to hold my hand particularly when I start waking up. If they have my arm in a sling, I'm gonna need to be held tight as last time I fought a bit as I 'just wanted to move my bl#$dy arm!!!' This is what I apparently said to the nurses last time........lol......maybe I should just tell the surgeon not to put it in a sling until I'm awake enough to know what's being done.

Thought I would pop my head in to say HOWDY! Glad to see the HTL is still gong strong. I am not working now so I may be able to post more often and catch up on all your goings on. Had surgery on Feb 1st for a revision to my left boober. It seems to be healing well and I go back to see my PS this afternoon. So I have been thinking that looking for a job isn't going to be easy. I figure I have a few strikes against me going in. One, I am almost 50, two, I am female, and three, I wont be able to pass a drug test since they have me on opiates for pain. I can explain that I am taking them legally but then they will probably discriminate when I have to reveal I have cancer. Maybe I can find a job to do from home? Well, I've got to run some errands so I better scoot. You all have a great day and I will TTYS

One of my friends who is a breast cancer surviver was hired on for a wonderful gig at the age of 66. I would agree that things might be challenging for you, but it can be done.
First of all, things are looking up in the economy. I don't know what you do, but as firms hire on, they will be doing a "flexible staffing" model. Can you do temp work as an entree back into the workforce?
Temp firms are usually desperate for qualified people. I have been on the receiving end of less than qualified, so I know why this is true. If you went that route, you would have a recent history of being a reliable employee, and you might end up somewhere that will take you on full time.
These are my thoughts. One thing I can say is you need to inventory what someone would pay you to do, and go there. Also I am assuming your skill set is current.
Again, this is as specific as I can be. The way around the drug test is to bring your prescriptions so they know what to expect to find in your system. There are certain jobs you can't do, but this is a minority. The ones you would be excluded from would be anything requiring a high level of security clearance.
One final point. There is a shortage of talented and dedicated employees. That is how you need to position yourself. Good luck.
So heal from the surgery, and get your brain around the task at hand. You will get there. - Claire

Hi ladies,
I wanted to let you know that I got wonderful news today; I do not need to have my left implant removed. I go back to the doc next week to have the stitches out. I am thrilled as I was worried although I tried hard not to think about it. This is reason to celebrate, let's drink. I will be back later to chat with you fine ladies. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts, they worked!!!

I missed Sunday brunch buffet L ... Had to sleep cuz I had a large glass of Pinot before heading to friend's house thinking her SO doesn't drink so we wouldn't have wine with dinner but he wasn't there and she opened a nice bottle of Cab... hence the sleeping in yesterday and generally slow day... walked to town for breakfast with DH, painted a door in the pantry, read an entire novel and then took WD and corgi for long walk. Didn't even think about the almost full bottle of Pinot last night...
Also missed 3 pages of posts - the lounge has been so busy! And the SNL commercials... actually no time for TV this weekend.
NM - nice recap. The dust bunny made Lori go a little Freudian though.

Kymn - what holiday is it in Canada? It is Presidents' Day here... when I was a kid we had Washington's birthday and Lincoln's birthday (on their actual birthdays) but they got combined and sort of downgraded. Now the holiday is on a Monday so we get a 3-day weekend and mostly the holiday is about retail sales. DH doesn't even have the day off - just government offices, banks and schools are closed.

Oh my how you girls chat lol. I am having a lazy holiday just hanging on the couch with DH but wow could be tempted to start a fire so those beautiful firemen can come and save me yummy.
Astorm its family day here but pretty much the same thing its retail day. then after we have family day the kids at the elementary school have family week, and the highschool kids have reading week lol so family week all the poor parents without a teenager at home like me have to scramble around finding care for their kiddies. nice family week.

I used to dread all the school holidays when my kids were not even in school yet. I had a FT job and paid for daycare but she took off every conceivable holiday and my boss didn't agree that it was a holiday so I had to find someone to watch the kids. One time I took them to a place called "Kid's Klub" which sounded fun but DD1 got bit by another kid and I had to go get her. After that I didn't want to take her back but one day i had to and she got sick 5 minutes after I left so I had to pick her up again. She was listening to someone on the radio talking about Mike Tyson and the ear-biting incident and she said "that's BAD!" DH agreed and said they would probably make him go to jail. She had a better idea - "Make him go to Kid's Klub!"
