Good morning, Loungettes. I'm dragging a$$ this am, caught a head cold. First time I've been sick (except for bc stuff) for 2 years. HATE having a stuffy head. Can't smell all the goodies on the Sunday Buffet, can't even smell my coffee brewing. Blah. Blah. Blah.
Beanine-after you go to Victoria's Secret, go to Kohls. I've gotten some really great new stuff there, most of my new wardrobe is from there, and good prices. Watch for the "get $10 for every $50 you spend" promotions. It's almost like getting paid to shop there!Wahine-It's amazing how efficient the HTL clean up crew is, isn't it? No fair hogging Pants clothes, you know who ever gives him back his clothes gets him next.
Welcome, Mrs. Nice! Glad you're doing so well. Itching incisions are not fun. Have you tried scar massage? You use your fingertips to rub in little circles along the scar, it stretches it out and loosens it up, and may help with the itching.
DorK-We'll all have to band together to alibi Junie to her DH. Someone remember to hide the lampshade hat pictures!
Junie-Your DH knows you too well! The cleaning crew left goodies to appease him with in the fridge, and fully restocked the likker supply, so he should be happy.
Husker-Jocks is running over with a selection of shots for you to try-whiskey, rum, bourbon, sherry, vodka, schnapps of various flavors-I'm sure you'll find something you like, or you'll get to the point of not caring!
Stanzie-Hooray for good tax news! Definitely time to celebrate!
DorK-I could tell you were praying for me yesterday. I reset my computer back to factory settings, took forever to get all the key stuff loaded back in . But it is running better, and will hold me for a while longer until I can save up for a new one.
Kymn-The tenders have a magic headache cure if you want it-a long massage, a soak in the hot tub, a large drink of your choice, more massage, a swing in the hammock, another drink, a float in the pool. Works every time!
Claire-computer problems are a pain in the anatomy, aren't they? Eggs with orange yolks are wonderful, aren't they? I get some free and buy some form a neighbor, still cheaper than the store!
Karen-don't worry about missing a party, there's always another coming in the HTL!
DOTD: The Cold Remedy

1 oz. Finlandia Vodka,
1/2 oz. Creme de Noyaux,
2 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix,

sorry that you are not feeling well, NM. Darn, feel better.
Hi Karen, nice to see you. How is your DD doing with the contact lenses? I thought of her when I put mine in today. It took me a year to get it down, I had so many issues with them for so long but never gave up and just love being able to see so clearly without glasses. Wishing her all the best!
I am off to The Loft to try to find some new spring clothes. Then to Target, then back to the lounge for some likker. See you all later.

Good morning ladies....
Slept in so didn't make it to 8 AM mass. Guess that ski yesterday really did kick my butt. Working in Webmail is the pits, but at least I have email access. Headed out cycling, but via Staples to drop off my FUBAR computer.
I am hoping they can save my files. At least I have a system disk.
Speaking of shopping, my new red Barbara Bui jacket is wending its way to me. I think just the right weight and needed something bright and fun. Got for $35 which includes shipping.
Need to put away my skiing gear, as won't be using again until December.
Funny conversation with my friend Amanda yesterday. She is joining me and another friend next Sunday for the Daffodil Classic. Most likely the 40 mile course. So she mentioned needing to "train for the training ride".
NM....loved the cartoon pitting medical science vs brandy for the common cold.
Funny story from yesterday. Two young guys were skiing, one who has done this a lot of times, and the other who is new to x-country. The later one was wearing SHORTS!!! This was fine in Seattle where about 50 and sunny in the AM. However, on top where we were all skiing, it was about 27 degrees, blowing wind, and snowing like crazy. Wonderful skiing but not quite shorts weather. Bet he doesn't do that one again.
I am going to check out the "flood stage" river today and get in about 30 miles of cycling. Should be sunny prior to rain moving in later. - Claire

Super Sunday Day to ALL! Lovely day and warm here, but Lori, we've got your winds. I went out on the deck for a minute and could hardly stand up. Big storms predicted for later tonight. UGH!!! Grabbing my bucket of dog beers and heading out to the pool. Hope Lori and Wahine are still out there but they've been drinkking now all morning--I'll wake them up!!!
Here's some food for thought for those of you who are working at losing a little weight:
"I don't want to brag or make anybody jealous or anything...but I can still fit into my earrings that I wore in high school!"

OMG lol so hard at the one junie thank you

Oh Junie I needed that....might use that line myself sometime! LOL. Hi to all....yup Lori and I started waaaaay too early...so fighting a hangover now, but gotta go outside and plant some stuff. GAWGEOUS day...think will be about 80. Sawwry you are getting snow Kymn...that sucks! Neat that you worked at a bridal shop....my youngest DD who is a seamstress used to do bridal alterations for David's Bridal here. And oh the tricks she learned to expand a waaaay too tight dress! Right now she is making gowns for a large bridal party....one gal is so large she is hoping the dress will fit when she has her fitting later this week! Good luck to all having probs today....hoping the day will end up being nice after all for everyone! Read all the posts, but gotta get some outside work done so I have time to go SHOPPING today!

Goldie, Luv, luv, luv the video! Here I had all these ideas in my head of what the HTL looked like, but never imagined it was so, so...ummm, fantabulous! I gotta get in here more often. And the help, ahh, the "handy" hiree help. Wow. This is all the therapy I need (plus Maria's jukebox in the Chemo Lounge). Friday was my 2nd chemo, shaved the hair the next day. Still feeling okay about it. Husband saw the GI Jane look this morning and was not freaked out. Son really not interested; he likes the wig just fine. I'll scare him some time later when I'm feeling ornery.
Kymn, I had Neulasta shot this morning at 10:30, am all medded up (doesn't that sound better than drugged up?!) for the SE's and am praying that takes care of it. It's early yet, but I'm feeling positive that I will have better results this time. Don't fret about the hair just yet; if it doesn't fall out, you're just that much closer to having it grow back in!
NM, Sorry you are feeling poorly, but I get such a kick out of your pictures and cartoons! Very clever and so on point with the postings we've had throughout the day. Gotta go supervise DH (we've made up) as he cleans up the landscaping for me (another of my usual tasks, but one I enjoy). We did a walk-through so he knows what I want him to do. I'm trying not to look out the window and shout out orders or corrections, but it's making me nervous. But really, how much damage can he do? I let him trim the volunteer trees under the deck (hate doing that anyway), pull/rake the dead leaves away from the tulips and day lillies, and trim back the hearty hibiscus clear to the ground (but watch out for any green slips-those are new healthy growth!) Oh. And get out the deck chairs and tables. Whatdya think? Am I too trusting?

I'm still hung over from the Friday night PAR-TAY... can't find my shoes... wait... are those JELLO shots! I'll take one of each.
Had a little WD emergency yesterday... while I was digging in the gopher garden, WD decided to help me... he looked like a real dog, digging and kicking soil all over the place, and I think they have a natural tendency to dig so I let him do it. Later I noticed that his eye was swollen closed. Of course I rushed him to the vet who gave me an ointment and he is fine but I was feeling pretty bad - a one-eyed wiener is just the saddest thing. They train these guys to burrow for badgers but I think WD should stick to high-thread-count burrowing.
Not sure what is going on but DH actually helped me with dinner Friday night, then yesterday he spent the day shopping for tile (bathroom floor) with me and helping me clear out my herb garden to put in a raised bed, and then took me out to dinner at the restaurant that just opened at one of my favorite local wineries (fried Brussels sprouts w goat cheese and steamed clams for appees, duck confit on cabbage and fennel, pavlova w/ pistachios and grapefruit for dessert - all paired beautifully with their wines). This morning he went for a bike ride but told me to go buy some new herb plants because the bed will be ready by this evening... Hmm, I think it's related to Claire's Cure... maybe you should license that!
nothing sexier than a man in my garden...
Claire - when we moved into our house 18 years ago, 2 little kids rang our doorbell and asked if we would like to buy a dozen eggs for a dollar. They were so cute how could I resist? But the eggs were so good! I used to keep hens and a rooster and really missed farm eggs. Unfortunately those little kids grew up and lost their fascination with chickens.
Beanie - your closet must look like my closet... back when I was lopsided I got rid of anything that didn't camouflage my figure. The other night I wanted to wear something nice for DH and there was nothing left - no lingerie, not even a sexy dress. And I really don't like to shop - especially for clothes. Maybe I should get in the bus to round up some loungettes and go on a shopping spree. I'll even bring some crystal and a case of the Widow.
MrsNice - glad to hear the ooph went well... sorry you got the ickies though, that sucks.
Thanks, Dorthy and Beans, but I was really doubting my parenting skills last night... DD2 (the artsy one) doesn't like to comb her hair and I discovered that under the beautiful, long silky layer that is visible to the world 80% of her hair was so severely matted I had to cut through it. I also cut off about 6" while I had scissors in hand and finally got a comb through all of it. She was very upset with me and I cried quietly the whole time. It was just awful. Then her friend came over and she asked if she could go to a show downtown and could we give them a ride home. I was feeling like bad mommy so I agreed. DH was upset because he didn't approve of the venue. Picked them up before 10PM and everything was fine... until 2AM when she got sick and didn't make it to the bathroom. DH thinks she must have ingested something bad at the club, but I prefer to believe she is too smart to do anything stupid and we have never had a problem with her.

Ok. Tenders, I need another pitcher of the cold cure. Why does it feel like it's harder work to breathe through my mouth? I'm trying to get all the whininess and feeling-sorry-for-myself out of my system today, got to lecture tomorrow and another 12 hour clinical Tuesday, then an 8:30 peer interview on Wednesday. Gonna have to find me some good drugs for the next couple days. Pants, can you turn up the water temp in the hot tub? My feet still feel cold. Maybe some eucalyptus oil for the tub to help clear out the sinuses, too. Aaahhhhhhhh.

2 Cups Boiling Water, 1 Heaping tablespoon of honey, juice of 1 lemon, ¼ cup good whiskey
Hope you feel better!

Astorm, your DD stories really remind me of all the same issues I had with my daughter. She would not let me touch her hair once she got to a certain age and we went through the same thing. She has very curly hair and there were times that it was knotted up and looked like a rats nest. Today at 19, she keeps her hair so beautiful and it is very long. Trust me, there is hope, this is a phase she is going through. Now I still have to beg my DD to touch her beautiful locks. She is able to use a straight iron and make it so pretty or let it go natural. I remember the arguments we used to have about her hair. She hates ALL hair stylists as they all gave her grief about how she did not take care of her hair. I would love to have that kids hair!
I can't watch the HTL video enough, each time I seem to pick up something new. I know alot of work went into making that Lori and I feel the love each time I watch.
Glad to see you, Kristy. I think I have your name embedded into my memory. Husker= Kristy. I like your real name very much. And I bet you just as pirdy as your name even GI style. Would love to see pics of you before and after the shave. glad your HD took it well. It is really great putting a face on all of you I have now seen great pics of Lori, Junie, Kathy, Claire and our own Princess Kymny. I may just get bold enough to put a pic of me up here. DH took some good ones when we were away last.
NM, I sure hope you feel better. I love you for still thinking about us girls this morning despite not feeling good. And yes, I agree that you do the best job of anyone here with your AM posts. If I don't get my dose of NM post in the morning, sometimes I keep refreshing hoping to find you. Anyway, me sure hopes your head clears and and you can breathe. I hope to see you post in the AM and if I dont see you before I leave, I will check again from work.
Speaking of work, I have my first full week starting tomorrow and hope I am able to function without rx pain meds. I am still having alot of pain but nothing compared to this time last week. Doc appointment on Tuesday, hoping not to get scolded for taking out the drain. I have not regrets though, it made my weekend so much nicer. The area looks great, I am a good surgeon lol.
I did so well shopping. The Loft is not cheap but I hit the bargain rack in the back. I had a 100.00 gift card from Christmas and ended up spending 27 of my own money. But I got six cute shirts/blouses along with two cami's which have pockets for the fake boob. I also got a pair of capri pants which look great on me. They are slimming and really do work. I have gained 15 pounds in the last two months and am feeling it. My entire wardrobe is size 4-10 and I am now in the 10's. I told DH when I hit double digit pant size, it is time for a diet. Yet we are planning the most fattening dinner, roasted beef, potatoes and veggies. He is making it for me tonight. He really is good in the kitchen and even cleans up. But he knows he will be rewarded lol. I won't say more.
Kathy, I did not realize David's Bridal was there too. That is were I got my wedding dress (marriage #1). They did a beautiful job altering it and also taking care of my girls. It is great to have such talent. While I can sew, I am not nearly as good as my oldest sister. She has also worked in a small boutique doing alterations and does all of my sewing.
We are now working in the yard, well he is. It is a balmy 56 degrees here. I do envy you gals with the summer like temps. We are going to mid 70's tomorrow.
It's almost Pau Hanna time, let's dwink!!

I've posted a couple of times and just realized none of them showed up???? Hmm Not good.
Ok don't mean to make you all jealous, but my kids are all in the pool right now even though the heater didn't quite warm it up as hight as we hoped. Tomorrow we are having a full pool day with my friend and her children so should be fun.
Guess what! I made Crepes and they all turned out beautifully!!! So excited! Can't make pancakes but now can make crepes - we put strawberries and blueberries and whip creme ! YUM!
I'll catch up when I can read better the sun glare is too strong on the computer....

Cold Remedy
A remedy for the common cold suggested by Dr. Richard Gordon, from the "Atlantic Monthly":
At the first sign of a cold, go to bed with a bottle of whiskey and a hat. Place the hat on the left-hand bedpost. Take a drink of whiskey and move the hat to the right-hand bedpost. Take another drink and shift the hat back again. Continue this until you drink the whiskey but fail to move the hat.
By then, the cold is probably cured.(not sure if ya saw dat B4???) N-E-way I tot it wus cute...
If dat dont work den take AT LEAST two shots of brandy and call me in da morning (ha ha ha)
Hope you stay bundled up and warm...

LOL...I know the weather you are having Stanzie, as we are having the same! GAWGEOUS! But I didn't get to just enjoy it as we worked our butts off today....just so much to do. Guess I will go shopping after dark. Kohls is open till 9, and Lowe's and Barnes & Noble are open late too...all the places I need to hit today. Enjoy the pool, and also your guests tomorrow....YAY....feels like summer! Glad your crepes turned out too...but who thought they wouldn't? Not me, as you are a great cook!
NM, Awwww you are so sweet to keep posting when you feel like sheeeeet. AND that was so nice of Gail to post another dwink for you. Hoping you feel much better in the morning as it sounds like you have a real busy couple of days. How long till your last day? We can do the countdown with you!
Kristy, Good thing Lori posted the video she put together, for you. This is really a xanadu and we have such fun, and just add whatever is needed. When the weather is cold we have the fire pit, but now we can enjoy the pool and lake. And I looooove the casino with the free ATM. Couldn't be bettah!
Dorothy, Hope you are enjoying working in the yard! I didn't realize how much we had to do....trying to work from one end to the other. Usually we are gone on a trip in the spring, so it is nice to finally be at home when the weather is so nice. Later on it gets toooo hot here to work outside. Thats when I should move to the NW! How neat that you got a wedding gown at David's! I got a nice long formal dress for a cruise there. But it prolly doesn't even fit anymore! AND how am I trying to diet? Well, I am dwinking IceHouse Beer and eating mixed nuts....is that a diet.....nooooooooooooo!!!
Karen, Hoping you are having a good weekend! You too, HD! And where is Chrissy and Beans???? Miss all of you when you don't post!

Hey Now! Been POS! Puny Outright Sick! Sorry you are too NM. I am feeling better today. Cooked a meal. I was at Junies party however...I was just admiring her newly remodeled toilet area for quite a spell. Absafukinglutley beautiful Junie! You gals sure had fun with the lamp shades. Lordy, I remember when Junie was ordering new lamps. Hope you didn't destroy them. Junie, thanks for the party and loved your earring joke. Next time I hope I feel well enough to either light your oven mitts on fire or eat with an icecream scoop. Dorth...don't be mad with me...I have felt like a twinkie without filling all week. Hope you are healing up well. Good luck at work tomorrow and wish me the same. Beans...so sorry to hear of your redness issue. I was glad to see you posted a postitive note that it looked better. Rads can do wonders for you...trust me. I know my collarbone will never ever be the same. Feels like that wishbone your mom and dad had you make a wish on at thanksgiving! So nice and brittle! Hope your April Fool DH had a great birthday. Mrs. Nice, always nice to see you. Sorry you also are under the weather also. Speaking of weather...all you gals at f'n 80 degrees make me want to puke more. We are still at mid 40's if lucky and wind to match. Lori, hope you didn't get blown away today. Hope your cholesterol is lower so you can swill some good beer with me. Kathy, I hope you are doing well and enjoying the release from the PS to go do your work. I know you can't stand to be idol. (P.S.) On the topic of A Idol, I think your boy Paul with the white A$$ teeth might leave soon! AStorm, sounds like you have some outside work going on too with the herbs. You growin some MJ? Claire....hope you get your laptop back in working order. Chrissy...yo, you are a party animal. I hope when you visit over here we have enough fun for you, and hope you can hook up with DOT. Karen...hope your work week goes smooth too. Having a week off is great. Chemo gals...Kymn and Kristy....or the KK's....rock on. Great job on the buzz cuts. Kymn, when my head starting hurting like that was trt 2. Then, no more GI jane...it goes straight to "baldazzling". Stanzie....you are a riot. So great with your kids. I 2nd Loris opinion. Most the time she is wrong but this time she is spot on! Just funnin Lori! And, Stanzie, I wish I had just one itsy bitsy teensie weensy bit of the talent you do in music and theater. Ya, ok...I am done. Throwing in a hi to Dee and Jaybird! I know I have forgotten someone but I have an excuse. I have been sick. I will still be pissed that I did however. Chugs to all! HD

Beanius love your photos, dog bed, my bed is priceless. You girls have so many conversations going on here I cant believe it. I go back and forth to this site and the Her2 support site. It is amazing that there are so many incredible, funny, strong and brave women going through this stuff. Someone was mentioning favourite drink I would have to say Long Island Ice Tea yahoo! Thank god spring is here, temps in Toronto here are rising and lots of sun. Best wishes and good healthy vibes to all.0

Tenders, get us a round of LI Iced Teas.Lilyn, come sit on a bar stool next to me and the other drunks and let's party. Join us more often, the more de merrier! Cheers, my friend
Oh Stanzie, I really envy your family being able to swim. What is your pool temp? Mine is 58 degrees, ouch! Enjoy the pool, nice days such as today are well deserved after the wicked winter we've all had.
Kymn, sorry you have so much snow. Don't overdue it. Shoveling is a wicked punch to the body. And that is me in my avatar, I do Iook better when I am teeny tiny.
Beans, loved your pics. So nice to see you doing charity work. You are a very sweet gal, I admire anyone who does charity care. Loved your cold remedy, lmao! Did you make that up? You are berry funny! That is almost as good as your pissant recipe, I still laff when me thinks of that.
HD, hugs to you honey, sorry you are not feeling well. Good luck at work tomorrow, I'll be thinking about ya. I really do miss your humor. Try not to be a stranger, my friend, I miss you lots and could never be mad at you.
Kathy, I love yard work so much and I get depressed when I can't do the things I used to do. Everything makes me sore. Hopefully, I will get a few months off from surgeries. I am up to eight surgeries in eight months, unfnbelievable. Last night, while DH was working, I really wanted to work on more weeding and also creating my margins with a shovel. The ground is soft and this is the best time to do it. I also edge using a hand gadget and can only do a few sections at a time. Gardening is such an uplifting experience for me. I always said that when I have my hands in the dirt, I feel very spiritual and so good. I just have to be patient which is not easy for this knucklehead.
I am going to snap some pics of our fire tonight, I am sitting outside by the pool and have a great set up with music from the laptop hooked to speakers. We have the tiki lights lit and it is lovely. I will try to share some pics.If any of you are in my hood, stop on by lol.Cheerz and tidd-up!

Hopefully by morning the pool time will be 81!!! If I'm going to get into water it won't be painful! The rain and clouds are coming in tomorrow night so trying to get in a quick really nice day. My friends kids are just too cute! Claire - thought about you as I was making the crepes, I asked her kids what their favorite food was and all three said "Corned Beef!" LOL!
Second concert today and all went well even though not a large audience but my wonderful sweet son came!!! Not daughter! But she stayed home with my other son. She actually made an attempt at cleaning which was a nice surprise. Looks like there is hope yet....
Ok, so my 84 year old director is throwing himself a surprise dinner party - so I desperatly need ideas.... He loves most things British, loves all the castles pomp and such. He loves colored glass but not thinking he needs more.... Wondering if there is some interesting British food I could order or buy.... or what??? some novelity British pen or something to hang on his wheel chair...?? Just not thinking well. I'm not one of his "inner circel" so I'm invited to the special surprise - He promises to be totally overwhelmed with surprise when we all arrive LOL!!! My SO was to be invited so I guess will have to tell them if they want him to come fine but don't invite him on my account.... Ick hate stuff like this.... OH well.
My sone made friends with the youngest of my friend's children - I think she has a slight crush on him she follows him around with this mooning look on her face - will try hard to capture a picture! Too Cute!!!
On to dwinking dwinks and slurping limes!

More latR gatR, Luv & hugs and havahappyhappyhouror 2! cHairs! TUDD UP!

What a bottle of LBV port? That would be very British and a welcome addition to a wine collection. (Port falls into several price categories.....very ordinary, better quality from the major houses such as "Founders Reserve", late bottled vintage, and then the astronomically expensive vintage ones. You can probably find a nice LBV in the $20-25 range. I buy the $15 cheapie at Trader Joe's which is fine, but there are better ones out there.)
Crepes sound fab. Believe it or not, I don't make corned beef very often.
Dorothy....sorry you can't go running around yet. Soon enough, and all will be fine.
Feel wonderful from all the exercise this week. That is, until I try to move. But that just signifies that it had the desired effect.
Dorothy....you are welcome to the second lamb chop. I am roasting yellow turnips and potatoes to go with. Plus something green. Not sure what yet. Think will be delish, especially with the cab-merlot I am drinking.
BottomZ up everyone. - Claire
NM....hope you are fast asleep with this nasty cold/whatever.

Holy crap! Where DID this wind come from for so many of us???? DH opened the door to the patio earlier and just as he opened it, he saw the wind blow down a pine tree next door! Think it missed the neighbor's house and THINK it is HER tree, but will check with her tomorrow to be sure. Have never seen it this windy and we get some big winds......I'm heading to the casino for a bit, then out to the pool. I have two buckets of dog beers on ice.....see you all in the pool or the hot tub!!!!
one question before I head out......has anyone seen the commercial for a car and it is raining and someone is singing...."it's raining......it's pouring.....but I don't care.....I love the rain......" After seeing the commercial/hearing that bit of a song several times, I have a whole different outlook on rain--I grew up only knowing to sing, "rain, rain, go away...come again another day....." I now have a new perspective on our gray, cloudy, rainy days! (And, NO, have no MJ......)

Beanie - LOL - I like the dog bed pic... WD ended up in our bed last night and everytime I turned or moved (which is frequent as DH is a tumbler) he was in the way. I love the little guy but he takes up an awful lot of room for a 10 pound creature.
Hunkydory - so good to see you! Yeah, mj was my first thought since they built a house 15 feet away from our back fence and planted trees on the fence line no one can see into our yard anymore... Here in Cali we have medicinal mj ya know... all it takes is "insomnia" and you can get a "get outa jail free" card... LOL...but they didn't have any at the nursery so I may have to start them from seed.
Stanzie - mmmm, crepes! I ate too many crepes when we were in Normandy (buckwheat - blech!) and hadn't had one in years but my BFF had us over for dessert a couple of weeks ago and made apple crepes... so yummy. I'm a little afraid of crepes myself.
DH is watching the Country Music Awards and I just heard them announce Keith Urban... gotta go!

Just dropping in for a skim through and quick wake up drink. LOVE the cold cure presecription! Thanks for the note about Medicinals teas, I had fogotten about them and will pick up a box when I stop to get some antihistamine so I can breathe during clinical tomorrow. Where did you get that pic of Sadie on the bed????? I had to pick her up and move her last night so I had foot space! Too funny!
OK, going to spike my coffee and head out the door, hope to catch you all this pm with a complete catch up.
