Good morning, Loungettes! Sorry I grossed some of you out with the lymphedema pic, I'll try to be more sensitive in the future. I've been on a crusade to teach medical people about LE. You don't even need to have lymph nodes removed to get LE, any surgery that interrupts the lymph flow pattern puts a person at risk. Most docs think it's really rare, but they just don't realize they are seeing it almost every day and calling venous insufficiency or something like that instead of LE. I guess my crusade spilled over into the lounge, I'll be more careful to keep it under control from now on! Anyone interested in learning more from a much more expert source that I am can search for member "Binney" she has so much info it's amazing. Links, advice, day-to-day management, etc. She also helped me get through radiation when I was at that point. Great woman.,

Beanie-I want some of whatever the builder and real estate agent are drinking! Looking at life at an angle must be lots of fun! And talk about dogs and owners looking alike-which pic is which????? LOL!

Kymn-Sorry to freak you out. That pic was an extreme example of LE in a man after radiation and surgery for prostate cancer. The fewer nodes taken the smaller the chance of LE in the arm. I had one node taken during a sentinel node biopsy and got truncal LE from that and the radiation, so a lot of it is the luck of the draw just like all the rest of the bc $hit.

Claire-I can imagine you are not so crazy about platform shoes after that experience! I remember the CDC sending a notice around to the all the ERs and orthopedic docs when they were first the rage, warning about ankle and toe fractures that happen while wearing them. Some of them do look pretty, though! Wasn't there a comedian or someone who said something like when you stay late no one notices, but arrive 30 seconds late and the boss will be standing there looking for you? As far as outsourcing, sometimes it makes sense (having a doc in Australia who is awake and during his normal work hours reading a digital MRI or CT done as an emergency at 3 am here in the States) but needs to be done with care, not just looking at the $$$ parts of the deal.

DorK-Good for you for standing up like a woman! Since you acknowledged the e-mail and apologized that should (ideally) be the end of it. Of course, who know what the boss thinks of the whole thing. You might want to send a follow up e-mail re-iterating the apology, that would be harder for the boss to "forget" to put in the file.

Wahine-You sound like you are having a great time here in the bar! Keep it up, girl!

Goldie-are you going to start a lampshade hat boutique here in the lounge?

Husker-Wow! I'm impressed! You can actually ask a question and get an answer from your team! You are VERY lucky!

Junie-You've been to Venice twice? I'm jealous! I would love to travel in Europe, would like to see Switzerland, Italy, Greece. Maybe someday I'll have enough money to do stuff like that. LOVE the KABOOM Cocktail! There was a rumble of thunder yesterday afternoon and I suddenly found 63 pounds of shivering yellow lab in my lap! First thunderstorm of the season, not a very impressive one, but it sure woke me up from my nap!

Stanzie-my sewing room is in the same state. I can move around now, but getting organized? Not sure how that's going to happen. Probably need to do the timer thing again-maybe 7 minutes at a time. Maybe if I get a few more bags of trash lugged out it will start looking better? Rather be outside playing in the garden, but too cold and wet yet.

Nm- I for one wasn't grossed out by the picture as I don't know I guess I want to know worse case.... but maybe it was worth it for the cute kitten picture.

Ok, I looked again at the lamp picture.... took me a while but I finally got it. OH.

Oh NM, come on down and dig in the dirt here anytime! The bugs aren't even bad yet....

The school has canceled field day twice now on account of horrible thunderstorm predictions - each time a perfectly lovely day.... they will try one more time and then forget it - hope it works for them.

Now I'm waiting for the guy. He was supposed to have sent an email but the way my email is going who knows? I don't get along with my sister but I will say I'm feeling pretty sad for her. Her husband is the one with the return of the cancer. Well, what 30+ years ago she answered an ad in Sail magazine for a cook to sail from Main to the Caribean. She got the job not that she could cook. But they fell in love on that boat - lived on it for 2 1/2 years sailing and got married on the boat. I just saw on Face Book they have put it up for sale. That has to be so very hard to do. Feel awfully sorry for them. Hope the treatment works!

I'm way too sentimental but I've got to learn to be tough and get rid of stuff!!!! drowning in stuff!!! There should be plenty of room here but ??? Ack!

On the Kaboom cocktail, my DD actually asked for Kaboom cleaner for her birthday!!! She thinks it is neat that it comes out blue/purple and then turns white. She says if I get it for her she will do more cleaning... Should I be worried about the kid?

Hey Stanzie, whatever works.....if your DD will clean because of that, I would have no worries!!! Think I will tell my DD about that...one of my g'daus loves purple! Kewl if it helps kids want to clean. So sorry about your BIL's situation, and that they have that boat w/ all those memories, up for sale (or should I say "sail"...j/k). Hoping his tx will work. Very sad.

Gotta get that guy over to want to put your house in a movie or commercial! Good luck, and let us know!

NM,I wasn't grossed out either...hope I didn't come across that way....was horrid to see, but a good wake up call too. You gave us some good information.

    Ciao for Niao!

Beanie, what a cool belt! Sure wouldn't want to trip and fall though. Have to make sure we get plastic bottles. No NM, I am not starting a lamp shade boutique! And you did not gross me out either. Love the upside down houses. So cute. Ha ha on the dog poo! Stazie, sorry about your BIL but your story about the Kaboom is a cute one. And I so agree with Kathy on getting those folks out to your house. We need a star here!

Hope everyone is doing well! Grabbing me one of those belts and 7 beers. 6 to store and 1 to drink. That makes it a dog beer!

Hi Lori! Joining you for Pau Hana time! Passing on the dog beers though as I had some champagne we took to my parents house, and now it is Seagram's time!! Was fun sitting outside watching the ducks, etc on the lake. Lots of Canada Geese (canucks? lol), and Coots, as well as Mallards, and our one white duck who we named "Aflack" last year. Well, Aflack was getting picked on by the Mallards...3 of them kept flying into him and pecking at him and I kept clapping my hands trying to get them to leave him (her?) alone. Aflack even went underwater for awhile, but when he/she emerged there was a mallard on him/her. THEN someone thought maybe they were mating....oh was my face red!!! But then again maybe Aflack wanted to mate with his/her own kind???? LOL....pretty evening and very cool, but 80's return tomorrow.

Happy Hour everyone! Hope all you loungettes are having a nice Thursday night!!! Oh, and remember to BYOL!

DorK......the tried and true "teambuilding" methodology strikes again.

Still works just great from what I can see.

I am off in a few to a cycling potluck which will happen after the pilaf in my pot cooks enough to bring.  No drinking as have to drive, and someone is bringing wine.

Found another ride to do in about a month's time.  Wine area near Yakima and Prosser.  Will stay over the night before as 3.5 hours is too long to drive in the AM.  Should be great fun, and yes, I will taste. - Claire

quick post and huggsss.   We've had T-Storms move through one after the other since early this afternoon.   The rain has been unbelievable!!   I can see the next line moving in and already hear the thunder.  I took the dog out before dark to go potty and just as he was half-way down the deck stairs to the yard, it thundered and he high-tailed it back up and ran for the door!

I luv the dog beer belt--that is soooo great!!!   We have a cooler that is similar in construction that you can fill with ice and multiple beers and it floats--we would anchor the boat to swim, fill that cooler up; set it in the lake, and then float/drink/pee to our heart's content!!!!

NM--your pic didn't gross me out at all!   I am just continually amazed at how many bc girls w/node(s) removed are not given more LE info from their surgeons or onc or rads dr.     Thanks, again, for your daily, funny, appropriate posts and our DOTD!

DorK--you bad girl, you!!!!  better watch that teezin' male co-workers!!  Watch out that you don't get caught in a deserted conf room or elevator with just that co-worker!!!!!    What's DH doing in AC????....trying to bankroll his recent big winnings??????

Laffin' at the duck pics, etc.   "Well, f*** a duck!" is an old favorite expletive of mine!!!  (one among many!!!)    I'm ready for a TGIF PAR-TAY!!!!   Be there or be square--now, I think that expression is even before MY time!!!!!

Goldie--glad you're home safe--hope you have a bit of time before your next travels and can unwind for a bit!

    see all y'all tomorrow night!!!!!!

have a good weekend, gals. Stay storm free, stress free, SE free. I have to play for Good Friday services, but then should be FREE to check in at the party!

Hope most of you LadieZ are asleep, but I had to finish up a PowerPoint slide.  Finally having some good wine.  There is a member of the cycling club who volunteers at a (either not for profit or no profit) winery, and their wine is less than stellar.

Was so glad to get home and have something good.

Otherwise, meeting was fun.  Will be doing a couple of cycling weekends.  These are dirt cheap as we hostel it, and then do pot luck dinners.  You can count on enough beer and wine to go around.  Places with breathtaking scenery such as the Coast and Birch Bay near Vancouver BC.  I haven't been to either place so I am psyched.

The crowd who have a lot more time and money are headed to Croatia.

Amazingly, we should finally have some real spring weather for Easter. - Claire

    Any KABOOM left for me?

Well Portland was lovely and DD loves the city and wants to go to nursing school there but got really emotional about the idea of going that far away this fall. She has 2 years of pre-reqs before nursing school anyway so we'll see. The dogs were really good and loved traveling with us. Portland has such great public transportation... free streetcar line throughout downtown area and they even have a tram to take you up to the medical center where the school is. Had some awesome meals... fresh halibut (but salmon is not in season)...

Kristy - I thought soy was supposed to be good for you too... nope! So the UP side to this whole thing is that I realized that not only do I like salmon more than tofu, it is better for me too... and in my humble opinion, vodka tastes better than green tea but that's just me ... LOL

Lori - That is quite a cocktail! Good thing we are at the HTL where all things are possible cuz Everclear is pretty hard to come by... my friend's son tried to bring some home from Canada and thought that since he was a Marine, they'd let it slide but it "disappeared" at the airport.

Stanzie - like the bunny avatar! Almost forgot it's almost Easter.

Beanie - that kid doesn't look old enough to be sporting a brewski belt...maybe we should get one for Pants... hmmm... Pants... Speedo... Brewski belt...

NM - good idea... I have a huge lamp shade collection cuz they are never quite right and I never take them back... I should bring them down to the HTL so we can put them to use. Here's one for you:

    ... that one's for Beanie...

    who wants a pink one?

    or a traffic cone?

We encountered some hell-ay-shus rain on the way home... my little garden looks great and- had some salad greens from it tonight which was great since there was no food in the fridge... and the contractor finished the bathroom floor while we were gone - soooo impressed... and no cats under the floor. I'm really hating sharing my bathroom though... can't seal the grout for a few more days and the girls are such shower slobs I don't want them in there until I get it sealed.

Took WD on a long walk this evening and he is so tired... whining now cuz he wants to burrow under my pillow and I'm not moving.

Hi girls, sorry to be away for so long, but los happening in my life at the moment.  I have been back and forth to the city a few times and my DD2 (Mareike) has had a back operation a week ago and seemed to be recovering well untill yeasterday.  I got a phone call from her BF late last night to let me know that she has been re-admitted to hospital and after a CT, they found that a small piece of disc that was ledft as a cushion has moved and is now pressing on th nerve and causing excriuciating pain so the concensus is that the op will need to be re-done as soon as they can get a theatre staff together.  It is now Easter Friday here and everyone is on the Easter break until Wednesday but we are keeping our fingers crossed that she can be done sooner than that.

Thanks for being concerned re my absence but as you can see life sometimes takes over and there is no time for relaxing.   I'm here now and certainly ready for a good stiff drink.........or three!  Heading for the hot tub for a relax.....PaNtS in tow with a full tray ready to wait on me hand and foot......mmmm.....not a bad idea, a foot massage would go down real well!

    TITZ UP!!!!!!

Oh Chrissy, how awful, I'm so sorry. Hope the next surgery goes well, poor thing - sounds horribly painful. Gosh you do have your hands full. Please let us know how she is doing.

Love the ducks!!! My kids are always so horrified when I talk like Donald Duck, would have loved to have tried out for the Aflack Duck voice = paid a tremendous amount of money! They showed the auditions and they did make all those people have to make fools of themselfs quacking and flapping their arms and apparently having to quack and show different emotionsLOL

More later off to get munchkins to school - Earth Day today!

Astorm, welcome back. Glad you had a great time away. I bet you are glad to be home, so nice to get away and just as nice to get back home. Loved your lamp shade pics!

RRW, hope all is going well with your parents and that you are having a delightful time. I had to laugh when you said you are polishing your lamp shade, good one!

Kymn, sorry about your Canucks, that is why there are seven games, they are messing with you again. Our series is tied 2/2 so tonights game is big.

Chrissy, nice to see you pop in, here's a beer for ya, nice and cold! I hope your DD does not have to wait until Wed, that pain must to horrible. Tell her she is welcome to use our percotinin fountain.

Stanzie, funny about the aflac duck auditions, I will have to try to find it, was it on the net?

To the rest of you wonderful ladies, I will try to catch up with you later, have to get my hide to work. I am confident that everything is cool with my boss. I really did not do anything terrible, others talk back at her all the time. She bought me a few drinks last night and really is sweet. I typically prefer working under a man but Lois is cool and very compassionate over my bc issues. . I am a bit hungover this morning, seems when I have drinks out, they hit me harder. I crashed out and slept soooo wel with all three dogs. DH will never know!.

Chrissy, Oh your poor Mareike....hate to hear of all the pain she is in. Is she in the hospital till they can do the surgery? Hope her pain is being managed...ouch, I mean OUCH!!! Like DorK said, puleez share our percotini fountain with her. AND give her some gentle (very gentle) hugs from your breast friends here. Thank you so much for posting here, and please let us know how she is doing, and we will be praying that her surgery can be as soon as possible, and will take care of that pain. (((hugs)))

Sounds like such a nice trip, Gail! Glad you had a GR8 time, and are safely back here, with us. Esp with that horrendous rain you went thru. Love the pics, and esp love the saying "Like YOU'VE never come home wearing a lampshade"!!! So appropriate.

Will have to read back and remember all the posts! Just got up, so still trying to function. The tree guys got our tree cut up and "hopefully" saved the rest of it...did a great job, and city picked it all up b4 I got up this am! Yay! Bad news on the a/c.....company will supply parts (BOTH coils are bad and this was a new unit.....was such a LEMON), but we have to pay labor ($600-900). Would have been covered if our prev a/c guy took care of it right away. He also is the one that caused all our floor damage, but then he died in Dec, and I wonder if he was sick months earlier w/out realizing it, and that is why he was negligent in what he was doing. So, I told DH, well yeah we have had a lot of $ to pay out, and a lot of inconvenience (a/c & heat off for several months, and flooring torn up for several months), but we have our lives, and that is something to be thankful for. Still trying to get a roofer to the townhouse to fix that leak (just 2 yr old roof). THEN I get to touch up the paint on the cathedral ceiling....that will be *fun*....NOT! Last time I taped a paintbrush onto a LONG pole, AND had to be on a tall ladder....was a riot trying to dip the brush into the paintcan....long pole made that VERY hard! LOL.

Parents are doing fine. Thanks to everyone for all your thoughts of them. I finally got a hair appt, so mom and I will go out there, and then do some SHOPPING! She is just so happy here....very content....wishes they could just live here. Now to convince my dad!!!

Pants just poured me some Baileys Choc Mint so I can finally try it....yummmmmmmm! Any other DOTD's for today????? TGIF girlz.....almost the weekend! DorK hope you don't feel too hangoverie from last night (like my new word?)!

ChEARS! TITZ UP! HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY!!!

DorK, so glad you had a good time with your boss.....I'll clink clink to that. And your se cret is safe with us.

Kymn, you go and have a great girls nite out. I too was a homebody and didn't do much outside of work.

Junie, poor Pancho.......I hope he got to go wee wee! Next trip is about 3 or 4 weeks. National Hardward Show in Vegas. LOL @ F a duck. How about this one?

Husker, maybe you can play for us too. There was a story on the news yesterday morning about this guy that gave up EVERYTHING for lent.........except.....get this, BEER and WATER! But did limit himself to 5 beers a day and actually lost like 20 pounds, or something like that!

Astorm, sounds like you and DD had a wonderful time. Too bad you couldn't just give her NM, or have NM come out there! Very cute fur baby pics and lampshades. I thought I have seen Everclear in the stores? Maybe just hard to find in some areas? No matter, since I don't drink it!

Chrissy, that is awful news about your daughter. Sending prayers your way that they can take care of her soon. That kind of pain is definitely excruciating. My heart goes heart to her....and you.

Stanzie, that is hilarious that you wanted to try out for the Aflack duck. I am truly LOL.

Kathy, I think for our Fried Day Party, everyone should BYOLS, what do you think?

    Here's my lamp shade

Maybe we should get the Tenders to make up some more KABOOM for the party.

    DILLIGAF............happy Fried Day!

Stanzie-How old is this child that wants Kaboom cleaner for her birthday??? I'm not sure if you should be worried about her, but I'd get her a bottle just for the giggle factor.
Sorry about your BIL having to sell the boat that is such a big part of their lives. Gotta be hard.

Wahine-- I don't remember now who posted something that made me think I had step a wee bit over the line with that pic, but since gross out wasn't my intention I wanted to apologize and let them know I'll be more sensitive about stuff like that in the future.

Goldie-I don't like the smell or taste of beer, but I'm up for an entire belf full if it will make this cough/stuffy nose/general crap go away. I gave in and called the doc's office this am after waking up twice with a nose bleed and now have an earache, got an appointment this afternoon. This is getting ridiculous!

Wahine-no wonder that Aflack duck is always quacking!

DorK-oh.oh, when the boss gets you drunk it's either really good or really bad! Which is it for you this time?

Kymn-thanks for the round, I'm hoping enough alcohol will kill off the virus or whatever that's caught me and won't let go.

Beanie-Glad you're running the TGIF party this week! I've got a slot in our church's prayer vigil this evening, can't start dwinking until after that, and I can't wait to see your new lampshade hat!

Junie-I'll remind Beanie to invite some appropriately gendered ducks for your amusement at the TGIF party this evening!

Husker-Good luck with the WBC numbers, and don't forget to ask Pants and Jock to lace your dwinkies with neulasta for extra insurance! You can specify the kind with no side effects, you know. . .

Karen-hope you are reading something fun and easy. I like to re-read books at bedtime, then if I fall asleep I know I won't miss anything, and waiting for the next surprise or twist or whatever doesn't keep me up.

AStorm-Tell your DD that if she really wants to get her nursing degree in Portland, to go for it. The 2 years of prereqs will be a buffer and once she gets into the actual nursing classes and clinicals she isn't going to have time for a life anyway. She'll end up graduating and then having to plan a vacation trip to see the sites she never had time to see while she was there!

Chrissy! Glad to hear from you, sorry to hear about DD2. Hope they get a team together right off. And we understand how life can take over, we just worry about each other. May I put your DD2 on my church's prayer list?

Sounds like we need a ducky DOTD.  How about a  Dizzy Duck

    1 shots Brandy
    1 shot Irish Whiskey
    1 shot White Rum
    1/2 can Cola
    1 squirt Whipping Cream
Best served in a Sherry Glass.

    Directions
Start with a shot of each spirit in the glass, fill it up with coke and cover the top with cream.
