OMG the teeth in them thar dogs!!! Beans and Lori, No, this was not the same toe I broke a couple of yrs (?) ago...but it has been broken before. I always go barefoot in the house and run into EVERYTHING! My foot is bruised now below it, and does hurt....and I did hit it again that night after I already broke it (may have mentioned that?). If it hadn't been taped, you would have heard me scream bloody murder all the way at the HTL! Think I would learn? Nope! My mom has broken several toes over the years too......can I blame it on genes? Or jeans? Or Jeannie Beanie????

BTW Jeannie, that is a GOOD site...found lymph therapist in my city w/ that link, but has lots of info on that site too. THANX!!!!

    Hi LadieZ....

Back at work.  Missed the PAR-TAY last night, but dinner was fun.  The Aveda lady tried really hard, but don't think that effective in the neck/shoulders massage.  The tea they served was vile.  I am not a licorice fan, and it had a strong taste of some evil sweetener.  Just a warning.  But then, the majority of women don't taste the sweeteners.  No wonder, I usually use honey in herbal tea.

I just check my surgery area visually to make sure all is well.  Nothing beyond that.  My study nurse and oncologist checked everything a week ago and both thought all looked well.  They were impressed a lot more by how muscled I am.

The general rule is that the more nodes removed, the greater the risk.  So at 21 nodes, I have a relatively higher risk than someone who had only a few removed.  When I had a JP drain, I couldn't believe how much lymphatic fluid I produced when cycling.  I can't imagine if that amount was backing up in my system.

The latest thing I have done to the affected side is strain/sprain my left thumb.   This is from one-handing a heavy pot.

Beans.....two wonderful pizza places in Seattle.  Pagliacci Pizza (a chain) and Serious Pie, a Tom Douglas eatery.

Kathy.....my broken toe three years ago was the result of a dreadful Match.com date.  I know why the guy was divorced, and hope his ex was well paid for the time she wasted with the geriatric windbag.  I walked home as he had at least a bottle of wine in him.  BUT - was so angry that I didn't switch over from my platform shoes to flats.  Guess what.....hit a pothole, went over, and my little toe was the victim.

Amazing how my enthusiasm for platform shoes has waned...... - Claire

wahine - so you have a family history or breaking toes, that is funny, not that you and your mom broke your toes or that it hurts, but just funny that you run around barefoot and somehow must move too quickly...that's what I thought as you always have so many projects going on...you bettr slow down chica!

claire - was that a massage? so sorry to hear it wasn't helpful and the tea sucked...i do love licorice and phenyl, yum, but if you don't like it that must be awful, honey is so good in tea. I had 21 nodes taken too, which I still am really sad about, but so far no problems. The first time I got a mosquito bite last year I about had 10 cows freakiing out, but my LE therapist was so reassuring that sh*t like that is going to happen and just watch carefully for any signs of infection. Since then I've had a numbeeer of cuts and things which have healed up no problemo. I think of my mom who had a radical mx with so much lymph taken out and she never had a problem with LE, I don't think she was that careful either. Anyway some people don't get it. My BS said to be conscious of how it is feeling and it will become obvious when I need to massage it to help move lymph fluids out of the arm. So I just keep an eye, but have been less worried since I got with the LE therapist, at least I have someone to go to if I have questions. Sorry your thumb is still bothering you and I hope it heals up soon. Tanks also for the pizza restaurants!! And what a story about an awful date, platform shoes and a broken toe, OMG, I love the look of platform shoes, but never wear those any more...mostly desert boots and sneakers and my teeth really look like the dog on the right up there (j/k).

Is is happy hour yet??? I want my dwinky and I want the sun to shine and I want to be at least 10 lbs thinner and a few million $$ richer...Pants where's that cash machine??? I know I get a bundle out and then hit the casino for some blackjack, double or nuthin and get really really stinking rich! Oh this will be a fun night, I'm buying!!! Who's coming and what will you have to dwink???

OMG Beanie, you had me rolling on the floor laughing at your pics today.  I am not sure what I laughed at more, it was either the leaning house or the dogs w/ all those funny teeth. I had to zoom into the crooked house pic and when I read the sign and the car with the Snoody Real Estate Sign,I lmao, it is  right down my ally... a crooked conniving real estte agent, could it be? lol. Best to you and DH on the vacation home/resort! I hope you are still here with me and my sister WrW.  Oh, thank you for the drink and your kind words <<hug>>> you rock.

Sista Risque W, so glad Mom and Dad made it in. Sounds like you are having fun without me :-(   I will try to see you all later tonight. Give our parents a hug and a kiss from me and take good care of them (as if I have to ax)! And be sure Mom does not break your other toe while you girls party. And for the love of God, get your shoes on!  Mom is prouder than ever of me and I think I am growing on her and could be favorite DD someday. And I have never broken a bone.  na na na na na na! jk- they are such a blessing in your life, enjoy every minute.

NM, thank you for the info on LE. But as Kymn said, it was freightening. Gadzooks, I had seen photos of LE in the arm but never the legs. Yikes, I usually don't think about it as I have it in my head that I will not get it. The reason I think is that my sister did that and never got it (my real life sis that is). I hope you feel better soon. Glad you did not need anti-b' to get better.

Lori, you are right that our Beanie is sweet but so are you. I appreciate your sweet words to me. You are a good friend and I bet everyone in your life knows that about you.  Howz thing in AZ? And what time does it get dark? I just thought of that lol. It is 7:43 here now and the is 7:50. brb, have to turn on the light. Ok, as I was saying...uh, forgot. I see you at the bar Lori, wow what a difference a light makes. OH my, my lamp shades are missing. Oh, I just spotted a neighbor of mine sporting a lampshade hat, damn what people do for a lampshade on their head.

Kymn, you seem to be feeling better.  Sorry that your Canucks lost last night. They were just teasing and will step ahead tomorrow. Flyers are just coming on now.  I hope things settle down for you and you catch a break in life, you deserve it. You are going through the worst of it now but you are getting there and before you know it, you will be done with the sob mf'n chemo and having a big party.

Stanzie, do you have your flowers planted yet? You never told me what you bought or did you? Lots of posts today. Hey, could I please know your real name? Even if you PM me, I will never tell. Or I could guess if you gave me a little hint! And I sure relate to being spacey.  Not sure in my case if it is the tamox, think not but it could be adding to the damage from loss of brain cells.

Today was a better day. I was in the office a little early and ran into my boss as she was going the other way. It was perfect as I was caught off-guard and just did the "needful" (that is is a word I learned from the folks in India which we outsoure "tasking" systems. Uh don't get me started on that subject. Oops, I already digressed from my subject. So yes, I told my boss that I was sorry, I was wrong to have given her email attitude. I told her that I surprised myself with my action and was just having a terrible day. She was cool about it. Who knows, she could have the email on file. I am never a trouble maker, have only been at two jobs since 1984 and learned how to live well in the corporate world. I f'd up but did own up to it which was not easy. But done, whew, let's drink to "I am done whipping myself"!

Well gtg for now, time for a drink. I've held off for five minutes. CHeerZ !!!!!!!!!

I am really LMAO! And nanner nanner boo boo..........I know Stanzie's name. It has been posted! But I'm not telling. You should have emailed your apology too, then you would have it! DorK.....welcome to the world of the imperfect.  No drinking....yet.....as I am back from walk with work to do.  Anyway, a story.  When I got my first real job, I was one of about 20 field technicians on a team.  One day, we all got the "start your day on time" lecture.

Well, wouldn't you know it, the next day, I got an early AM call from my manager, but I wasn't at the account.  I really was out getting a part.  When I called him back, he shook his head and said: "I didn't believe them when they told me this in New Manager School, but they were right that it's the people who don't have the problem who will always get the most worried. You are fine."

I am telling you this because I suspect that you manager has to deal with much worse employee problems. (List I can think of is: too stoned/wasted to do job, working the system, clueless about job, pisses off co-workers/clents, horrible family problems, violated company policy, really unhappy in job, not doing fair share of workload.  I have lived through all these as a manager.)

The one you do need to concentrate on is rebuilding your network.  You will get there, but I am sure a struggle.

In about six month's time, or whenever your next interim review is, you can own up and say that you had no idea how challenging "onboarding" is.  This is a HR buzz word, usually used for women who have been out of the workforce because of raising a family.  But applies equally here.

I would just laugh off the whole experience and thank her for her patience.  However, this is a few months away, and you need to get there.  You will, but a few more bumps ahead in the meantime.

As far as offshoring goes, sometimes works out better.  I can't really talk about the situation I am faced with, but things were better when offshored to India than with the current arrangement.  I would also rather have a radiologist who is awake reading x-rays than someone local at 3 AM.

I look at this as that people all over the world need to earn a living.  Most are much better trained now than even a few years ago.  Must be a lot more pleasant than in the days everyone hung up on them due to language barriers and frustration on both sides.

Anyway, really do have to get back to work.   Will be glad to share pork chops with you. - Claire

Claire - thanks for the pork chop. I had them last week with apple sause and stuffing, yummy! Great tip for me. I know my manager will know this word. She actually just joined our company in January while I was out but came with a lot of experience. So far, I like her. She is very compassionate over my BC situation. She has talked quite a bit about it with me and has a personal storiy of a good friend of hers  - she knows the deal. She sometimes calls me Joyce as I remind her of a friend of hers, in my actions and facial expressions - that is what she tells me. I like to think she likes me. I do try to do what is right -always. Grab a lampshade and come into the lounge and have one with me when you are done!

Lori, so you can't just note the time whhen you "come in"?  I was just curious. I remember being in Cal. as a child and it seemed that the sun did not go down until 11pm. It was many years ago,1968 and again in 1970.  I found it strange but cool at the time. I do like day light and look forward to June when the sun does not set until after 9pm. Oops, sorry gals, are you snoring yet??  Hey can you kindly give me a hint on Stanz's name? What is the first letter and maybe the last? Or can I buy a vowel, I will just hit up the free ATM.

So where is everybody else? Kathy, accounted for. Claire, accounted for. Where is AStorm, still away? Seems like forever. And where is Kristy, I have a feeling she is about to pop into the lounge and knock me over again. And ChrissyB, get your arse in her, there is a lampshade with YOUR name on it.  Cheerz and as Chrissy would say TIDDUP!!!

~~disclaimer No further comment on outsourcing.

Ok, you twisted my arm....I would not mind if they spoke our language and did not take jobs away from the folks here in the US where unemployment is at an all time record high.  And hellooo.....someone should tell them that the American names they give themselves are often very disturbing. They are calling my clients insurance agents, title companies etc. to make changes. Many of my clients agents get upset as they do not understand what they are asking for when they call. So, a few names I recall.....Sir Lancelot, Lil Feather and my all time favorite, Honey Boy Gamer. There are more that I can not think of cuz I am dwinking now, de spelling is funny. And I got a wild lamp shade on tonight, it has frinze, yeah baby!!!! Cheers and again, tiddup!

    Hi LadieZ....

Checking in after a bit of dinner.  Got caught up in a last minute item, so thankful for the Miracle of the Microwave.  Had a fridge full of food so had dinner in a trice.  Discovered that garlic/fig/mustard glaze for pork chops is delish.  Plus Herbes de Provence.  YUM....with a splash of Gewurtztramminer.

I have not reformed.  A friend of mine won the "email hijacked TWICE in ONE MONTH" lottery.  This is where your account get hijacked and sends to your friends a plea for money with any replies forwarded to some scamster in a place like Nigeria.  After sending friend a text, wrote this reply to the scamster.

"I don't know what you did to deserve a second one of these.  I just sent you a text message to alert you in case you werehijacked......again.

To the asshole who sent this.  You fail to notice that most Americans have never heard of
Cyprus, to say nothing of having traveled there."

This one covers all bases.  If goes to my friend, he will get it.  If to the scamster, I called him an asshole, something which causes a lot of third world assholes to take major umbrage.  But I did call the asshole on something he most likely didn't know.  Almost no one in the US travels to Cyprus regularly.  WOO-HOO.

Still snickering at this one.  Feel sorry for my friend who needs to mop up the mess.

Geez.....need another drink after all this. - Claire

Wow, busy place today/tonight! NM, you got the Colorado Bulldog recipe exactly-an easy nice drink! think I'll have another. Had a great dinner out with DH and son...they had steak, I had crab-stuffed mahi-mahi with cheesy potatoes and vegies and a "virgin" bloody mary. The spice in that makes it seem like the real thing (not really-but better than vinegar-tasting wine!) Then Cold Stone Creamery ice cream at home. Stuffed!

Earlier we were talking (weren't we?!) about green tea or not.  I emailed my nurse navigator who forwarded it to the oncology pharmacist...this was my question and his reply. Again, so interesting (and aggravating!) how many different answers we get to the same questions.

MY QUESTION: Can I drink green tea? If so, does it matter WHEN I drink it? I thought it was supposed to be healthy choice (anti-oxidants and all) but have been hearing that it might interfere with chemo. Do I need to avoid it totally or just during chemo or is it even an issue? There has been lots of discussion on one of the breast cancer forums that I follow and lots of different opinions from oncologists, nutritionists, etc. I did some online research, but it is also all over the place on risk vs. benefit.

ONC PHARMACIST ANSWER: "In theory" anti-oxidants could be contraindicated during cancer treatment.  Antioxidants are not recommended while getting radiation therapy.  There aren't really any studies out there to answer this question regarding chemotherapy.  We researched any specific interactions or contraindications with green tea, taxol and cytoxan and there aren't any!   You can drink green tea in moderation and it doesn't matter when!

MY CONCLUSION: I would not tell anyone to start or stop drinking tea based on my one reply, but I know I will have some guilt-free from here on out (and of course everything in moderation!) But pass the vodka first...

Kymn, laughing at your comment about you should be teaching the class! I don't doubt that for a second. Maybe you should look into it.

Kathy, your picture wasn't showing up for me, so I am trying for you. I hope it's not coming up double. I have seen this recently from one of my kids.

Now I see it, so I deleted mine. No need to see double when we don't HAVE to!

SO much lightning lighting up the entire house....and very loud thunder. When the weatherman suggests a few computers might get knocked out by this storm.....wahine listens!!! Cute storm cloud cartoon! Lori, do ya tink the "bc police" took the pic out? It did show up when I previewed it and right after I posted it, but now is a red "x" for me too. Shoot!

Could not get that other pic to post (earlier post), so this is funny. We like to wear lampshades as hats, and here are hats that are lampshades.....

Who is here to enjoy the "KABOOOM" wid me? Pants actually made up TWO punchbowls of it, expecting a lot of youze galz on this thundery thursday! Dwink up, but don't dwown!!!! (Not sure how the heck this font enlarged...lol).Racquel Risque Wisque

Oh My- I read through all the posts but now can't remember a thing! LOL!!! You all are busy! Ok that last picture DID look like a lamp so??

NM - Wow, thank you so much for all the Lymph info. I had NO idea. I will ask about seeing a l.therapist as I think it would make me feel better - I really don't want something else!! A friend gave me a gift certificate for a massage and I so want to use it but now am a bit worried.... However I think I can talk more to her... My friend has been sick for years - I mean years - sometimes not able to walk sometimes never got out of bed and she was young - late 20"s -30'.Actually I think she was in her 40's when they finally figure it out - chronic appendicitus! Anyway she has tons of scar tissue and still has problems but apparently this therapist has been amazing for her. Her Dr. told her lying down she would Never be able to raise her legs. Well, one session with this woman and she could do it. Had my friend crying as she was so grateful - she is now able to do many things she had given hope of ever doing again..
