how about drinking?

Looks like I missed a fun party last night. We went to a "New Music" concert... and hourrrrr and a haaaaaaalf of what sounded like musicians tuning there instruments just to hear David Grisman perform some Dawg Jazz
... DH was falling asleep in the front row so good thing he picked up the tempo a little...
NM - we sat next to a minister last night who told us about his sunrise service and DH said we should go but alas we did bot wake up at 6AM either.
Karen - let's just sit in the corner and drink instead of catching up... I heard that if you sit in one place long enough everyone will pass by anyway... how was your Passover, umm I mean leftover pie? My mom used to make something called Leftover Casserole but it wasn't as yummy as yours sounds cuz we ate things like hot dogs, tuna and mac & cheez... ok it doesn't look that bad, but you should see what's underneath the cheez... no wonder I was a skinny kid and learned to cook very young.
Junie - I think we should have our own wedding reception for the royal couple right here at HTL. I'm certain they would be most flattered and we wouldn't have to bring gifts, although I suppose we could...
We were reminiscing about the Easter Bunny this morning even tho he didn't stop at our house this year... He used to come to the mall and when DD1 was 3 years old she suggested taking him carrots. She asked me to tie a ribbon around stems of the organic carrots we just bought at the farmer's market. When she presented the carrots she whispered, "there's lots more at my house in my mom's garden..." ... guess she thought she'd get extra candy if she sold me out.
Lori - love those little Keasters! LMAO is a very appropriate response!
Well I had 2 cups of really thick coffee and a hearty breakfast but I think I still have room for an Easter Bunny and it sure seems odd not to have chocolate or marshwallow peeps this morning so I made a cake for my sistas:
HAPPY EASTER!!!

I just bought Princess Beatrice's hat on eBay...
I plan to close my mouth while wearing it however... not sure where I'll find a suitable frock to go with it... I think this one is quite lovely...
... I'd hate to detract from the bride though... is it too much?

OMG Gail..........how will any of us surpass that one! I don't even think I'll go now! LMAO....j/k of course. And what a beautiful Sunflower cake with marshmellow peeps. Pssst....I don't really like marshmallows, but since they are virtual, I will eat all the ones that come with my piece of cake and love every morsel of it. No wonder you didn't make it to the party. You have been too busy my love.

...it will be fun to watch and see what hats are worn and what dresses the rich/famous will wear. Guess my jeans and sweatshirt are out! And, inbetween shopping for hats/clothes, we all need to practice our Royal curtsey!!
The good thing about our shopping for hats now, we'll be all ready for our Kentucky Derby party on May 7th!!! Lots of good PAR-TAYS coming to the HTL!!!!
Happy Easter to ALL !!!

I'll definately need to practice the curtsy.. do not wish to piss off Her Majesty...
I hear she hunts with her dogs (not the corgis of course as they are so dainty)...
no wait, that's Helen Mirren. She deserves an award for wearing that outfit on the big screen!
My corgi already put on her royal garb and is ready for the wedding...
Maybe a tux for WD:

The EB missed my place too, so made sure I stopped by the supermarket and got some chocolate truffles on the way back. You have to watch the guy, but this way I miss out on all the yucky marshmallow stuff.
Can't wait to sample.
Cool again today here. The lovely lady on my pew in church who tried wearing something floral and summery looked cold. I wore my usual warm stuff with a bright scarf. Think a good move.
I am going to enjoy all the hats at the Royal Wedding. Hair is still to short to rock the ones in my collection. I tried as wanted to wear one today. So a few more months before I get there.
Happy, happy Easter to everyone who celebrates it.
Need to do a bicycle ride still so will join the PAR-TAY later. Hoping the rain holds off. - Claire

Hi all. LMAO at the posts I did read today. AStorm, someone is going to "net" you for sure and put you away! Junie, can I wear my levis and teeshirt too? Love my BBMFL...brought by my friend lampshade. So nice Beans. How can I repay? Kim, Husker....hang tough. Enjoy what you can, when you can. I imagine Claire is out peddlin. We went on a nature trip yesterday that had my ass draggin. I am making some aug rotten taters and DH is grilling steak tonight . I just need to do the veg, bread, and choose wine. Lori...so glad you had fun on your trip. I saw those little keasters beefore...pretty funny! Kathy, you and DorK sure keep this place alive. NM, I understand totally the cancer fear factor. We will all have it forever. At least me! Karen, hope you are enjoying a nice glass of wine while doing your dinner tonight. I know I plan to. Stanzie, I imagine your day has been full with fun for your kids. You are great mom too! All those hormones you are dealing with make me want to drink more. Kathy, I can't do the whiskey or rye shit with you gals but me and Junie will just settle back with a couple dog beers or maybe for me a "Tang n Tonic" I found that gin keeps the mosquitos away. True story. Now, if I have forgotten someone...I am not surprised. Cheers to boiled eggs and spam! HD

YAY, HD is IN the house!!! WB, you are always very missed when you are MIA for awhile. Sounds like a yummy dinner....I couldn't figure out the potato thingie till I said it out loud....way kewl to think of that!
Gail, OMG the corgi is soooooo precious!!!! All set for the festivities. I was reading today about all the dogs the Queen has had (30?), which included several corgis and "dorgis" which she made up the name when her corgi and Princess Margarets (think that was the one) daushund had pups together. Prob was in the Parade insert today. Love the butterfly hat you found, and that dress....OMG! Too kewl.
Junie, thanx for reminding us rednecks to learn to curtsey! Guess that means we gotta wash behind our ears too???? LOL. We are getting some good mileage from this wedding. Princess Di got married shortly after I married my late DH.....always thought that was neat, but then her marriage ended in divorce and mine ended with death.....so wasn't so neat after that! What will your hat look like? I haven't started looking yet.
Taking some dishes over to my mom's, and leaving soon as they now start Happy Hour at 4:30! I think they are entitled to that, at their ages! Happy Hoppity Humpity Easter Trails to all........
Wuv youse girlz,
Kathy (aka RRW)

Thank you Husker and DorK for the amazing music today!!!! Really enjoyed it.

hunky dearest, so good to see you! - wouldn't be the first time I got taken away... LOL... where do you think I got my lampshade collection? and now I know why the skeeters never bothered me!
DORGI!!! OMG I've never seen one but I bet they have really big ears... the perfect HTL dawg... don't think I'll let WD get too close to the corgi...
Claire - the day after I got back from Portland I picked up an issue of Cooking Light and there is a huge article about the foodee scene in Portland... including an artisinal chocolatier. Darn! Oh well, we have plenty of those here too... I'm pretty picky about chocolate so I don't eat too many "filled" things (e.g., "Easter" candy eggs)... gotta have at least 70% and it's gotta be really good.
Dinner is Pacific salmon, grilled asparagus and stuffed artichokes (pesto cuz my basil is going crazy already) and some sort of starch (always a last consideration for me)... and I just put a starberry-rhubarb crisp in the oven. Last night I made a steak for DH and self (once every 5 year occasion) with baked potato and crazy salad with tomatoes, avocados, bacon and blue cheese crumbles... It was yummy but I just had a bowl of fruit for breakfast and skipped lunch but I'm still not hungry.

I like chocolate filled with things like Grand Marnier and Champagne in the truffle mix. Time for my second one.
Was lovely cycling out to Alki and even got some sun. Nasty rain clouds coming in now.
NM....could totally rock that fascinator.
These chocolates aren't quite as good as the ones made in Bellevue. See how picky I am??? But more than adequate.
Ready for a bath and a leisurely dinner. Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening. - Claire

Wow, humongous hats, Stanzie! Love that dress and hat, NM...but those shoes???? LOL. Oh Kymn, did they really turn your mike off? I saw you standing up there with your mouth moving...thought maybe you were doing some neck exercizes or something. LOL. Next time let me be in charge of your mike, and then we can ALL hear you sing! YAY!
Loved the sunflower cake Gail (I think it was you)....but didn't notice the peeps till Lori mentioned them! Cute. Had a nice dinner at my parents house, but am quite worried about my mom. Hope to reach her dr in HI tomorrow and see what meds she is supposed to take. She was just really out of it and that scares me. So having a sad night, now.

Happy Easter, Beanie! Glad you got on for a minute!
Wahine--how long has your mom been here from Hawaii? Could she have been very tired and out of kilter time zone wise? Good idea to connect with her doc there, though. Might be a good idea for her to pick out a doc where you are and have a copy of her records from HI sent over "just in case." It is hard to see your parents as less than superhuman.
Woke up early, a bit nervous about the first day at the new job, I guess. More excited, though. Got my notebook, my lunch bag, my CPR card and few other things I know I'll need. Even Sadie seems excited this morning!
Is the wedding at 4 am on this side of "the pond"? Not sure I can get up quite THAT early, but the Tenders promise to record the procedings and play in whenever anyone of us asks, so that's OK.
Gotta hit the shower, just wanted to say Hi this morning, DOTD for me: The NEW JOB:
4 shots Vodka
3 oz Cointreau
(Top With) Cream
5 oz Pineapple Juice
(Fill to Top) Black Currant JuiceDirections
Whisk with a fork, until all mixed in. Add cream after mixing.DOTD for everyone else: The Happy Hat Day Drink:
1/2 oz Dark Rum
1/2 oz Light Rum
1/2 oz Sweet VermouthDirections
In a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes, combine the dark rum, light rum, and vermouth. Stir well. Strain into a cocktail glass.0 -
good morning girls, hope you all had a lovely Easter sunday, now it is back to the sad reality of work for this drinking chickie. I hope you all have a great day.
NM, good luck on your first day on the new job, wishing you all the best. Now go out there and get that respect that you so much deserve.
Kathy, hope your Mom is alright, do keep us posted, we care.
See you all at Pau Hanna time. Have a great Monday! Oh, did I say that word, ughhhh!!!!

NM, A big special hug (((NM))) to you for your first day on your new job!!! Can hardly believe this day is finally here, as it seems like yesterday you were having to decide whether or not to leave the #%&*#!!#^ students and your prev job. I hope you are feeling well today; I know the adreneline must have kicked in! Great choices for the DOTD's today. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks for all the concern for my mom. I got up waaaaaaay 2 early as I couldn't sleep much, from worrying. NM, they got here on the 20th, and she was fine until yesterday which is why I am thinking it might be the meds. PLUS they are all in diff containers, so quite a conundrum. Think I need a Happy Hat Drink; Pants made it a double, no wait, a triple...

NM, that is quite the get up you have chosen, but sorry my sweets, I have to agree with K on the shoes. You know we love you, and just couldn't let you wear anything less than perfect! Can't wait to hear how you day went. And you must be feeling better? Love the kitty with the foil hat for Beans.
Kymn, I heard that beautiful voice of yours and glad you had so much fun with the kiddos.
Stanzie, beautiful hats and such cute fur babies. (I think that was your post) Are you going to be wearing one of those? I think I heard you singing with Kymn?
HD, sounds like you and DH had a wonderful day, now keep your little blue smurfy keaster butt here! And oh shoot...what is BBMFL? I might know what the MF is, but can't figure the rest, please help! And I don't think you and Junie should get off so easy with wearing jeans and a t-shirt. What do the rest of you think?
Junie, we do have lots of parties and we can't forget Cinco de Mayo!
BeanZ, alwayZ good to see that smiling face of yourZ.
Kathy, so sorry to hear about mom. I do hope it's nothing serious and yes do let us know ASAP.
We had a great day, worked outside. Temps were nice, but it is still quite windy here. I made some deviled eggs with the eggs that our weekend neighbors son made, he is physically/mentally challened in a wheel chair and has CP. I helped with the stickers and then he wanted to give ALL of them to me. Was so funny, he is so much fun. He is in his mid 20's but has the mentallity of a child about the age of 10-12.
Perhaps I can do a little shopping this morning then practice my curtsey, thanks for the reminder Junie. Thanks for DrinkZ NM.

Kathy so very sorry you are feeling sad. I love how close you are with your parents I wish I had that with mine. They are finally come to see me this wed so they can come to chemo with me on thursday and help me out for a few days. This will be the first time I have seen them since being diagnosed.I think it might be a bit of shock for them to really see whats been going on. Me thinks this could be a really emotional weekend, not sure I am up for that guess I could just keep popping my sleeping pills if need be.
NM Hope your first day was fabulous and even better than you expected. Cant wait to hear all about it at puana time.
Goldie well thank you very much I gues Dot and Husks plan to drown me out didnt completly work hahahaha
ok gotta get something done at work pop on later

*DONE*
Putting that "skinny shirt" gal under the bus, that is! LOL at that one, Kymn. I saw a guy wearing a shirt like this one once, and thought it would be kewl to wear..
Yeah, does sound like it will be an emotional week for you and your parents. What a shock for them! Maybe this will even bring you closer.....when they realize what you are going through. Hoping for that, anyway. I am so glad to be close to mine (esp my mom), but that makes it so hard when something happens. Not sure if I can deal with that. Hope they will be really supportive and helpful to you!!!
Funny cat hat for Stanzie!!!!

Peaking in to see what's going on ..............wowsa, no one here! Must all be out shopping!
I'll figure it out Kathy...............IF and WHEN I want to! Lots of information out there on the internet
Kymn, I hope all goes well with your parents. Maybe they figure because this is all your decision and not necessarily required, because of your stage, that you really aren't sick and it's not that bad? I don't know...........can you ask? I had great family and friends support, so I am not sure what to say....sorry and good luck.
NM, I hope you had a fabulous day at work and are feeling better my friend.
.................Later (still shopping)

so, I put DH out of the house yesterday and will be filing for divorce ASAP. After doing alot of thinking about things, I have concluded that he was just bringing me down. He refused to bend with his behavior toward my dogs and my daughter caught him kicking one of them yesterday although he says he was only trying to get him to move. I have had enough. There were other issues in our marriage and he just refused to bend. So I did what I have been considering doing for the past few years. I now consider myself single and will do quite fine. This house was mine, I bought it before we married and have been paying most of the house bills on my own. I do not need him as he seems to think I will so I sent him back to Mommy. Ok, I said it. I am angry right now, very angry but having a drink then will probably just go to bed. Men suck.
