Quarter of six here and have my first cup o' joe with me. I see that it was a fairly calm night, well 'cept for Kev and Vickie. Thank you ladies for them theres beautiful words. I'll check back later and take a shift. I'm working today. Save some grub for me, I usually come home famished.

I fell asleep on my watch - oh darn. But the cattle rustlers didn't get in. So ow we can do the daytime camp tending.

I'm off to gather wood and will take a posse (me and the DH and the dog) to the drywood river looking for good stuff. LOts of lava rocks there - will bring some back to put around the fire and keep it safe. The posse will be gone for a few days - so we will be making a little fire to keep us warm at nite and will think of the big wagon circle as we sit where the mountains meet the prairies - so close you can reach out and touch the peaks.

As for those stars - reminds me of a song I used to sing for the kids - compliments of Anne Murray

Stars are the windows of heaven,
    where angels peak through
Up in the sky, they keep and eye
on kids like me and you
They cry each time we are naughty
Their tear drops are the rain
But when we're good they are smiling
    And will shine again
Stars are the windows of heaven
    Where angels peak though.
    Adios mi amigos, Hasta manna

Newvickie - your post reminds me of this peaceful song I have used as a lullaby.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell,
We know that it's probably magic...

... Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
... Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
    It's something that I'm s'posed to be...
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Christine...made me cry...just must be my day for tears today.
I hope our sweet ladies feel our magic spell, I hope when they are half asleep they hear our voices, the rainbow connection is here!

This day we find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, the SISTERS and me.

Okay guys, I'm heading to the river to take a bath and (sniff)I strongly urge the rest of you to do the same! (Will someone come and watch for snakes)

P.S. Carrie, smearing buffalo chips on you does not keep the mosquitoes away! Stop it!

Don't cry Vickie, you'll make me cry!

    Naniam---
Your post from this morning brought tears to my eyes. There are angels on high watching over all of us but I think we have all become angels on earth for each other. Only my sisters here understand what we are all experiencing and feeling.

My first "annual" one year onc visit will happen---with all of it's attendant crazy making tests, this coming Monday. I know everyone in the circle will be walking into that building with me---we will look like the Verizon wireless commercial! Not to mention all of those wagons out in front clogging up the parking lot!

Hope everyone is having a good day herdin' them doggies and looking for Kevin in the bushes. Personally, I still have a "thing" for Sean Connery but still haven't forgiven him for saying it's OK to hit a woman about a thousand years ago.

Carrie, you and Denise remind me of that old Bing Crosy/Danny Kaye movie with Rosemary Clooney and whatever the other woman's name was (Vera something?) and of course can I think of the name of the movie? Holiday Inn? White Christmas? One of those...

and the two sisters are singing their nightclub act with their feather fans.. "sisters, sisters, such devoted sisters..."

LOL...it was White Christmas (one of my favorite all-times) and it was Rosemary Clooney & Vera-Ellen...(or Carrie & Denise?!)

    Sisters

    Sisters, sisters,
There were never such devoted sisters.
Never had to have a chaperone, no sir.
I'm here to keep my eye on her.

    Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing.
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome,
She wore the dress and I stayed home.

All kinds of weather, we stick together,
the same in the rain or sun.
Two different faces, but in tight places
we think and we act as one. Uh-huh!

    Those who've seen us
know that not a thing can come between us.
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can.
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister,
and Lord help the sister that comes between me and my man.

    Don't you come
    between me and my man!

I wish my sister and I were that close. Please treasure what you have. I'm just riding thru on my way to town for some entertainment tonight. Going to the Eagles-Steelers game so I'll pickup supplies at the general store. Need more coffee and moonshine??

OMG my favorite movie! How do you find these things Peggy?!

I am just checking in before my shift later tonight.

I brought some things for us since it is going to get a little cooler tonight...

thick lambskin to lay our sleeping bags on

    fleece feety pajamas

I made my famous chili (please no one invite Dave tonight)

I baked a whole brie with currants and chutney is getting all melty and ready to eat

Fresh corn to roast on the fire with lots of butter when it is ready

    Hot rolls with melted butter

Apple brown betty baked in the coals of the campfire

And I brought a book where we can each take a page and describe or draw our wagons, and what we carry in them, and write down why we are encircling the sisters we love, so this moment in time will be with us forever.

I will be back later for my shift- gotta get back to the chili! It's almost ready!.

Peggy: Once again - you made me laugh so hard I spit my wine on the computer!!

And the sisters song, its so great. I have 3 SIL and they include me - we stand side by side and sing that song.

So I'm back at the site, enjoying what is left of my wine. Reading all of these posts has been very emotional. So many nice, heartwarming things.

And NS: I cant wait for the grub! Hurry please.

Deb: The dog chasing cocker spaniel - cracks me up. I'll be back for sure if not later, in the early morning watch.

Vickie, sometimes smash and burn is the only way to get things out of your system. Enjoy it! You can cry too. If you keep your mouth closed really tight, you could scream a little too, and nobody would hear.

Gentle hugs to you. Tomorrow will be brighter.

Sorry I've been gone, sisters. I was working on a project for Sunday and couldn't get time off to post. But I'm back now, and I'll feed the critters tonight and bring in some more firewood. Everybody got a slicker? Might rain a little, too.

My wagon is green with a blue silk top, silver wheels and velvet seat. Painted with bright stars so all our sisters can pick a star when it's cloudy and make a wish. All wishes made on my wagons stars would come true. A "Welcome Sisters" sign facing our campfire on one side a "Beware Cancer Beast" sign on the other. Full kitchen inside to cook anything you desire, comfy mattress and down comforters...lots of pillows to prop up our uncomfortable sister and a stereo that will play whatever you wish to hear...even Lini! Stuffed animals and real ones to cuddle too. Candlelight, moonshine and chocolate. Wind chimes to twinkle us to sleep.
Encircling our sisters to keep them safe, to make them feel our love, to let them know that they are never alone, to put out more positive energy than the world has ever seen. Encircling them to let them know that if love and caring could kill this beast it would be long gone by morning light.
Now...whose got Kevin...bet he's at the waterfall!! Men!!

oh yeah...did my smashing and burning...feeling rather evil but got the blues out of my system for now. My poor dogs think I've gone over the edge but my son thought it was pretty hilarious...I told him I was beating up cancer so I could get even.
Thanks all who lifted me up today.

You're too funny Vickie. I was feeling all calm and mellow from your first post. Then "boom", I'm picturing you smashing and burning and all hyped up. I hate those blues. They sure have a way of creeping up on you. I'm glad that you're feeling better, now that you took me from Mellow Yellow to Calamity Jane all in a minute. LOL!!!

I'm all over the place today Lini...I truly think they radiated my brain or something because I have just been off the charts!!! Good thing it's Friday, I don't think they could take another day of me at work. I think working with me today was probably like being pecked to death by chickens! It was rough...but ok now.
