good evening cg's...
Odalys...oh my...I'm so sorry...what a tough time for you. I am sending you a cyber hug.
Bren..I've been in a depression over the bill lottery too but decided today to say to heck with it. They can't get blood out of a rock and wth. As long as we have heat, food and electric then we're good! (and the internet would be nice too LOL). Things will improve.
Neesie...you make me laugh...I need you to live closer so we can be shopping buddies. I need a shopping buddy (I'll hid your stuff so you can sneak it in when dh isn't home!). LMBO over your tree. I have only gotten out about half of my decorations this year. Just haven't gotten into the spirit of it yet. Losing Cocoa really put a damper on things.
Hi Susan
Candie...the movie was a good one. The theater we go to only charges 3.50 so its really cheap but its also cold and uncomfortable LOL. We made sure to bundle up good this time and next time I'm taking a pillow! Its a very old theater and really cool but they could use some updating.
Nickster...where are you?
CY...sending lots of prayers...looking at the beautiful pictures left me speechless. Brought Pinkstock memories back in a rush.
Gina...MIA? Need to check the Hamptons but I never have the time!
Ok...quiet day here...wishing you all sweet and peaceful dreams from A to Z...
love and hugs

Hi sweet sisters,
Odalys - Sending prayers for your mom.
Neesie - Oh yeah I remember the dryer repair. ROFL
Are any of you on meds for neuropathy pain? After taxotere I had so much pain in every muscle in my body. My feet were the worst. Some numbness in hands and feet but not to bad. Well things have slowly improved over the last year but the improvement has just about stopped over the past couple months. I am left with feet that hurt sooo much. I live on ibuprophen but that just takes the edge off. I have tried so hard to stay off of meds but this is really affecting my quality of life now. My fatique has finally lessened to the point that I really want to do more things but my feet are stopping me. Anyone have any experience with Neurontin or Levsin? (Not sure those are spelled right)
Hugs to all,
Sue

Hey Sue- I am on Celebrex and it gets rid of about 75% of my joint and foot pain. There are also some trials being done to see if it helps guard against mets, so I figure, what the heck....give it a try
Hugs

Hi Deb - I haven't tried celebrex - that is a good idea esp since I am not 100% sure that my pain is actually nerve pain. The Christmas cards you sent out are so pretty. I hope some day to see Alaska in person.
Hugs,
Sue

Hi gals,
Like many of you, we stayed in tonight, awaiting the wintry mix that's on its way. I'm with you, Vickie. I've already had enough of this cold, wet weather. Crazy me! Why am I still living in Illinois???? So far we've had a little freezing rain but not the massive amounts that they've predicted.
Nicki...loved your morning reindeer with the flashing lights! So glad you're feeling a little better. I think a long weekend was just what you needed!
MB...what a nice Mom to stock the fridge and supply the holiday decorations. Reminds me of those days with my son when he first moved away!!!
Odalys..still laughing about your cancelled Christmas post! In what part of Florida are you located? I'm heading south to Fort Myers Beach the last week in January in hopes of escaping some of this lovely northern weather and finding a few golf courses and sun.
Everyone in the path of the storm.....be safe!!!
Rita

Just checking in again to let you all know mom will be staying in the hospital at least overnight. Now that I know she is resting comfortably I think I will call it a night too. Thanks for adding mom and my family to your prayers. It's so difficult to think about mom not being around. How does one even begin to prepare for loosing a parent?????
Rita. Glad you liked the Santa cartoon. So you are coming to Fl in January. Well, that's a good month to visit us. There is low humidity and cool weather. BTW - January is our coldest month but don't worry nothing compared to Illinois. Sometimes the temps drop into the 50's. Brrrrrrr for us Floridians.
I live in Miami about 2-3 hours South of Ft Myers. I hear they have great golf courses there. Enjoy!
Madison - I hope you can get some sleep. Is all okay?
Good night everyone, pleasant dreams.

Well, I must say, I certainly got a chuckle with some of your posts.
Especialy about decorating this year. I like the plastic stick on tree..lol. I have started decorating . A lil at a time I figure. I have to get my tree yet, I like a real one. Maybe tomorrow.
Deb, did I tell you I have canceritis. When I had the colonoscopy and endo this week, I didn't realize the Dr took a biopsy of something that says--"gastritis--biopsy--wth is that?
The list the Dr wrote: gastritis-biopsied
esophagel polyp-removed
hiatal hernia
mild esophagitis
colon polyps-removed
I never had any of this crap before bc. I did a lil research and some of this can be caused by radiation and/or taking pills with not enough water. Well, I took the cytoxan pills --7 a day--1800 pills in all and I was lucky I could swallow them without gagging let alone drink water.I have an appt w/Dr on Dec 18th for results. Boy, it just doesn't stop--does it? I also have restless leg syndrome which is getting worse and I feel it in my whole body sometimes. What the heck do you think that's all about? I am so glad I can come hear and complain about all this cause I think my family thinks I'm nuts....except DH--he is good. No wonder I can't sleep at nite.
Well, enough of my belly-aching, I am gonna try to sleep now--well, that's a laugh.
Odalys, prayers for you and your mom..it must be so hard for you.
Neesie--gosh you made me laugh
Vickie-glad you like the movie, and bringing a pillow to the movies is the best!!
Love and hugs to all.....stay indoors if youare in the line of that ice storm.
Hugs and prayers,
Candie

Good Morning Everyone! Im trying to bring some sunshine our way - but it looks like this ice/sleet/snow storm is moving across a good part of the USA. Hoping everyone stays safe and warm.
Yesterday I was a crazy person. My poor Mister hasnt gone for a walk in a few weeks now. Its just been too cold. Yesterday when I started getting dress he was begging so bad - it was pitiful. Now mind you he has a huge fenced in yard to romp around in. Anyways it was so pitiful I gave in. Put my down coat on and a scarf over my head and off we went. Had to walk in the street as most people didnt shovel their sidewalks. Got down to the school yard and it was clear sailing there. We didnt walk for very long, but I must say the crisp air felt good and smelled fresh. When I came back inside - I noticed my headache was gone! It was strange looking at the same neighborhood I had walked through this past summer and fall. Now seeing it in Winter. I miss my walks cause I realized thats really when I do most of my thinking. I probably look silly cause Im talking to Mister the whole way. Its therapeutic for me and until yesterday I didnt realize how much.
Candie: Chemo will cause havoc with your stomach. Chemo, RADs, and the stress of going through this journey. Hope your appointment goes well and they find the right combination of medications to make you feel better.
Odalys: Sorry to hear you mom has to spend another night in the hospital. Sending lots of hugs and prayers your way.
Rita: Oh Im jealous you will be going to Florida in January. Seems like so far Chicago has done ok with this storm thats passing. Looks like those North and South of us are getting hit a bit harder. I really did need to take this time off. When I woke up this morning I thought geez it cant be over already. Seemed like such a long time when I called in sick on Friday.
Sue/Boo: I also had taxotere. What I find now is that I get bone and muscle pain in my legs at night when Im sleeping. The only thing I can take is Darvocet - cause Im allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen. I have heard that Lyrica is also good for neuropathy. Hope you feel better soon.
DebC: Im giggling cause I heard on the news yesterday that smoking pot can reduce breast cancer. Go figure that one out.
Vickie: Hello sunshine sister. Im here. My comcast went out again last night! So I was without a computer for the evening. Bringing a pillow to the theatre? Made me smile Reminded me of the good ol days of drive in theatres. We brought pillows, blankets, and our own home made popcorn.
Bren: Yep I understand the bill lottery also. I love how you decorated your house. We really cant afford Christmas anymore, but Im doing little things that will bring much happiness to everyone.
Neese: OMG I laughing at the hot tub. Thats something my DH would do.
CY: Hoping today is a good day for you.
OK, gotta go - will be back later. Have a wonderful morning.
Nicki

smoking pot can reduce breast cancer!!!! Thats the best news I've heard in a long time LOL. I don't even know where I'd find any though.
Good morning cg's....
Good morning Nicki...glad your internet is back up and running. So you do the bill lottery too? Gee...all these bill collectors should come visit our site and get a real picture of how tough it is and how hard we try.
CY...rest and enjoy. Praying for you constantly. Love ya.
Rita...can you sneak me in your suitcase LOL. I would love to go back to Florida but it looks like it will be a while.
Hi Deb...bugs and fishes to ya.
Odalys...sending you big cyber hugs. I remember all too well how hard it is to have sick parents. If you need anything just send me a pm.
Where is Gina? I just don't have time to jump over to the Hamptons but I miss so many over there. hmmm...maybe I'll have to schedule it in this afternoon.
Gotta run...off to church to try to put together the Christmas play with a bunch of kids of various ages...YIKES. I do believe we will be doing lots of practicing between now and Christmas eve.
Love and hugs to everyone all around

Good morning cg's. It's a sunny morning here with the temps in the high 70's. I'm blowing some of this weather your way. Hopefully, the sun will melt the ice, frost, and snow you are having. I do wish our weather was a little colder. Oh well, there is no pleasing us, is there?
Brenda - Oh no, no tree? Would you like an artificial tree? I bought one (6 ft) to place in the office but it turns out they already have one. It's still in its original package, unopened. I'd be happy to mail it to you. Just let me know.
Nicki - glad to see you went for your walk.
Vicki - sorry to hear you are not happy with your new job. Give it some time, it may grow on you. When is Nates bd?
Liz - sorry to hear you're having bad weather. Please stay safe.

I hate ice - I hate cold - I hate winter - I hate ice! Need I say more. It's horrible here. I just saw on the weather how large this storm is and how many people it's going to affect. They're calling this "round 1"!
Be safe everyone.
Hugs

Odalys- I am sending you a gentle hug. I see my Mom and Dad every day and I would be lost without them. I understand your heartache and wish I could help.....
Candie- Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday! Hope you have some time for R&R today....put your feet up girl! I hate canceritus....sorry you seem to have caught it. My dad is a pharmacist and he really insisted I drink a LOT while I was taking my pills. It was funny that my docs didn't stress it much. You and I should just play cards all night...I have not been sleeping either....grrrrrrr...I hate that.
Susan - Cleaning house?? What's that? LOL. I think my dust bunnies are almost big enough to qualify as pets.
Denise - Half filled frozen hot tub does NOT sound like fun. I laughed at your ever shrinking tree. We have a cathedral ceiling in the living room and the first year we lived here the kids talked their dad into cutting a 15 foot tree. Now every year, they want one that big. At least the local black spruce are not very full or wide, so it is not like a 15 foot tall blue spruce, but they are still huge. In fact, we may be going out to the woods to look for our tree this afternoon. We always wait until after Carol's birthday which was yesterday. We usually take the snowshoes and snowmachines and spend the whole afternoon hunting for the perfect tree. This year it will be raincoats and the 4-wheeler! We STILL have no snow. How weird is that? The ski team drove 90 minutes to the mountains to find some snow fro cross country skiing yesterday.
Bren - I'm sorry you are having money trouble. This time of year makes it extra hard. I will tell you that I think Christmas has been over commercialized to the point of craziness. I think that home made gifts and/or a special hand written letter telling the people in your life how much you love them mean more than anything you could ever buy. Try not to let the bill lottery get you down...
Vickie- Ditto! You made me laugh when you added your internet coverage to the "basics" ME TOO! I think I would rather turn down the heat and use the fireplace before I would get rid of my internet connection....How are the new pups? I bet they are growing fast. I bet 2 puppies are 10 times the fun of one. I can only guess how much they are getting in to.
Boo/Sue - If you ever come north you can come visit me! This really is a beautiful place to vacation....although my Christmas cards are false advertising....we don't have igloos or polar bears in my neck of the woods! We do have pretty northern lights though....oh, and in the summer we have the brown and black bears LOL....
I can't remember who asked, but the bears are all asleep for the winter now. Even with out the snow, we have not seen any of them in about 2 weeks...about damn time if you ask me!
Rita - did the winter weather hit your area yet? If you are sick of it you can blow it our way...we WANT some snow!
Nicki - Has your hubby had a headache or been feeling sick? Do you have a carbon monoxide detector in your house? You said your head felt better after you got fresh air. Could there be something in the air in your house making you feel ill? Just a thought....
I laughed at your comment about smoking pot ...if that is true I have some neighbors who will NEVER get cancer.....
Liz - I am moving your chair closer to the fireplace and handing you a fluffy blanket. Maybe we can get you a sun lamp to sit under and forget it is winter for a while.
MB- thank you for making lunch! Yum.....Don't offer to take my kids too loudly...they want snow so badly right now they might just show up! LOL.
We had a fun day yesterday. It was Carol's 15th birthday. John and both the girls joined the ski team and drove about an hour and a half into the mountains and spent the day skiing. John called me from the road and they had the SUV full of giggling girls. One of Carol's teammates also had a b-day yesterday, so John took a bunch of donuts to the wax shed and they put candles in them and sang happy birthday to the girls while they were waxing their skis. While they were gone I wrapped gifts, cleaned house, and made a huge Chinese dinner for the whole extended family. Everyone met here for dinner and had a great time.
Here is a funny one for you...I have the mother of all zits directly on the end of my nose! I look like Rudolph the red nose reindeer! I think there should be a law that you should not have wrinkles and zits at the same time!
OK...I'm off to try and slather on enough cover-up on my nose that I don't scare the kids in Sunday School and to get ready for church.
Those of you in the way of the ice, stay safe!!

edited to ask why when I cut and paste do my smiles turn into random letters??? I think I got them all taken out....

Dear Odalys,
I am glad to read that your mom is resting comfortably. That will put your mind at ease a bit.
Thank you for your kind offer of sending me your tree. Way too expensive to mail something sooo big!! I'm following Nicki's lead, and my gift to Mr. Tim this year (who loves all the Xmas fuss) is that I decorated the inside of the house with all the lights, etc. and will make a bunch of sugar cookies all decorated up for him today. Since he's stranded in Kansas because of the weather (he's a truck driver), he won't be home for awhile so I have time to work on this. His gift to me is to work even harder so I won't cry as much. Sounds like an O'Henry story. But, there is joy in this as well.
My emotions really are all over the place as this is my first Christmas since getting cancer. I've had money before and been broke before, so it's not so much about finances ... things eventually get paid. I just tell the bill collectors, "What are you gonna take .. my dog?" My first post tx mammo is just after Xmas and I don't want to go back to the breast center where it all started.
So, I think it's time to put on my big girl panties (like Deb says), turn on the football games, and get in that kitchen and fire up that oven!
Love,
Bren

Good Freezing Day to all!
Odalys: I'm so sorry to hear your Mom is back in the hospital. Did she have a stroke? Sending prayers and hugs to you.
One more reason I love this group of friends........Odalys, how nice of you to offer to mail a tree to Bren!!!!
Bren: I'm sorry you are having such a tough time.........but I like that you are making the best of the situation. Your decorations and baking will make a nice Christmas!
Girls: Bill Lottery...........I played that game for 19 years as a single Mom. I feel so sorry for all of you...........Robbed Peter to Pay Paul all of the time. I'd get so frustrated at which bill was getting paid and which wasn't that I'd shut down and not pay any...............I was a "regular" at the Credit Union where I could play magic. Consolidate loans and charges into one and pay everything off....cut up the credit cards and close accounts. Then 6 months later, I was back at it again.
Do the best you can........they can't get blood from a turnip. HUGS!
Deb: I just scrolled up to look at something and read your post..........Love the image I've got going of the Zit on the nose.....Rudolph the red nose reindeer! I totally agree............Zits and Wrinkles at the same time......should be a law!
Nicki: Deb kinda scared me when she mentioned Carbon Monoxide........please get it checked out. We have a "vent free" gas fireplace...........lately I've been scared about that, even though we have used it for 6 years with no "known" problems.
I'm glad you went for your walk yesterday......and I'm glad you are feeling better........watching football today? We didn't get the ice they predicted....yet anyhow!
Vickie: I wish we lived closer too! What fun we could have....shopping and sneaking.........I could show you the ropes! I'm certainly glad you put the internet at the top of the "must haves" when it comes to bills to pay! My DH grumbles about the "cost" of internet all of the time...........but it is my only entertainment............I rest my case!
MB: What's up with you being here on weekends?! Has the internet made it to the hill? Such a good Mom............I used to do that for my Son too...they may not always say it, but you know it means alot to them!
Liz: You said it all! I hate Winter, Snow, Ice and Cold.............make the plans and I'll join you for some "Fun in the Sun!" If that BCO cruise wasn't so expensive a bunch of us could meet there!
Good luck with your surgery Tuesday..........It's for CTS, right? I know I'm heading there too, but not yet!
Okay my Dear friends.............Got some cleaning and baking to do. Don't get excited over the baking......just the usual Muffins for the husband.....
Oh, the Hot Tub has been saved!! Yup, his light, tarps and tents, the BOARD and comforters must have done the job.............thawed out the frozen pipe and the motor is running..........................the bad part is now he will expect me to use it....and it's cold out there!
Hugs to all and I'll check in later!
Neesie

Bren - I sure hope you have a big mailbox. I put in a call to Santa and it's confirmed. He will be dropping by this week. It all depends on how busy his shop is and how many more packages he needs to deliver. Oh, playing Santa is so much fun!
Mom update, the docs want mom to stay in the hospital for a while. She now has pneumonia and the wound on her leg is getting worse. They think she may need to go to a rehab center. Both dad and sis are all upset because mom does not want to go anywhere. I am just sitting here in total shock right now. On one hand, I can see her condition deteriorating and can understand she needs nursing care around the clock. But, on the other hand we've always been a close family taking care of each other and putting mom in a rehab center is out of the question. Ay....
Sorry for being such a downer.
0 -
My goodness a chatty bunch we are today. Seems like a very long time ago when I wrote my morning post.
Odalys: When you mentioned in an earlier post that your mom was shaking, I thought in my mind pneumonia. That shaking is usually a sign that her temp is going up. I think one of the reasons they are mentioning rehab care is that things have changed. Used to be if you needed iv antibiotics and wound care - you would stay in the hospital. Now you get discharged to rehabs to finish the course of iv antibiotics and wound care. The physical and occupational therapy will be good - to help your mom get stronger. you do have another option though. You could bring her home and have home health care. Problem is medicare wont cover the cost of IV antibiotics. Sending bigs hugs your way. This is the kind of situation I deal with everyday.
Neese: So far so good here with the ice. Still staying just barely south of Chicago.
Bren: I saw this really neat thing of the food channel yesterday. It was that girl from semi homemade. Anyways she made a sugar cookie frame - put a picture in it and it looked fabulous. I found a picture of my DH with his nephew/god son and Im gonna either make a frame from sugar cookies or plastic canvas. You watch and see it will be my DH favorite present.
DebC: hmmmm my theory behind zits is that you need more sex.
MB: Lunch sounds yummy. I also cooked up some Italian sausage with sauteed green peppers and onions. Also have some apple cider/cinnamon brewing in the slow cooker. Nice and warm.
Liz: I say sit back and I will throw some Captain Morgans spiced rum in your hot cider.
Vickie: Its true its true. I heard it on the news today. Smoking pot with reduce the chances of getting breast cancer. Hmmmmm I wonder what it does to prevent reoccurances.
We dont have a carbon monoxide alarm in my house. DH has never had a headache in his life. We have forced air for heat. My first guess is that I had some sort of virus cause I had chills Thursday and Friday. Each day the headache is less intense. Who knows - it seems like everyday if its not one thing, its another.
ok - back to football.
have a great afternoon.

She sure is Neesie!! Makes me cry all over again! Geez girls ...
I did make some shortbread cookies just now and wanted to send some to Odalys, but they came out a really weird shape, kind've like little blobs. They don't look anything like the cookie cutter Santas, trees, bells and stars. I think I better stick to regular sugar cookies. Oh well, Mr. Tim will eat these blobs!!
I PM'd you Odalys. Hugs and Love,

You're right Bren...fixed that one LOL.
This is too much fun but i have to call it a night. Freezing rain outside and I need to draw some water and get the candles out in case we lose power. Its been freezing rain for a couple of hours and not looking like its gonna get better any time soon.
(((Odalys)))
(((Bren)))...wish I lived closer...I'd come cheer you up.
Good night Nicki...I am also wondering if smoking pot would prevent a recurrance LOL. That, combined with the Xanex and Lexapro outta make me the happiest girl on the planet!
Hey Neesie...tryin to find a pic of you that will work...just you wait...its so much fun! I'm gonna do one of my ex boss...he'll hate me for it!
Liz...we got your weather here too and it isn't lookin good. May have a day off tomorrow if this keeps up. My windows are frozen over now. It sucks!
OH shoot...forgot to finish the pumpkin bread...I am soooo braindead...never put it in the oven...wondered why I wasn't smelling it and Nate (mr. smarty pants) just came in and said..."don't you have to BAKE the bread"...grrr.
Gonna sign out for now...if we keep our power (praying hard) I will try to get back.
Love and big hugs
