Year-Round Joy Christmas is full of shiny things
    That sparkle, gleam and glow;
    These holiday pleasures dazzle us,
And yet, deep down, we know... That Christmas has its special gifts,
    But our year-round joy depends
On the cherished people in our lives,

Good morning from wet southern Illinois.  Rita...is it raining at your house too.  Didn't get any thunder though, but sounds like it is going to be an all day thing.  I'm going out to the House of Hope and working today for a bit.  I'm sure I'll enjoy myself.  No work for me this week so need to do something.

Navy -- such great news so you can relax and enjoy the holidays and your family can do the same knowing you are FINE and as they say in my neck of the woods " Fine as a frog hair split down the middle".  A real celebration for you and yours on the 25th.

Hope you all have a marvelous day with some time to relax.  I'll be checking in later.

    Hugs to all,

    Jackie

Jackie...It's not raining here, it is POURING!  The snow is gone from the ground and everything is very wet.  It will be hazardous if it starts to freeze but so far it's just wet and dripping.  I hope it stays this way as my kids are on their way from Kentucky and they don't need a covering of ice.  The "mother part of me" never quits worrying!   LOL

I'm off to Christmas lunch with a couple of my good golfing friends.  I have things well under control at the house and ready for everyone to pull in except for making the deviled eggs and jello salads tomorrow and changing the sheets on the last bed so I will get to enjoy the luncheon today without feeling like I should be doing other things.

    Have a great day everyone!

Afternoon all....cookies are baked, presents are wrapped, laundry is done, house is clean, DH napping (I think) and I am listening to the ice hit the house.  Our street and driveway all nice and shiny!  Looks really bad out there so here we will stay.

Navymom.....what more can I say but "YAY!"  What a wonderful holiday you will have this year....

    Jackie...here's your picture!

     You'll have to explain!

    Juliette....still thinking about you!

Ginny....how are you feeling?  How's the weather down there?  Even by DH's relatives in FL it has been cold...in the 40's at night.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying inside on this lousy weather day.  For those of you with iPhones I found this app "live cams"...from thousands of cameras all around the world and I was just looking at a live feed from Waikiki....boy do I wish I was there!

Off to see is DH is asleep....I do so love sneaking up on him!

Wendy..I have been feeling good.  Been doing shopping and baking.  I think it caught up with me today and stayed in bed til about 2pm and went out to do a few errands.  It's been cool here.  In the 50's for the highs and low 30's for th the low.  We have had frost on our car windows.  My bil told us that they usually don't get frost but we have had alot of rain and humidity so that's why we have frost on the cars.  Should go away soon.

My son and his wife are coming up on the 26th from Florida and staying til the 2nd.  Should be fun. Monday, I have my PET scan and then the results on Wednesday along with chemo.  What fun... We are supposed to have rain tomorrow and in the morning of Christmas day.

Ok everyone....the pic is of Teeny....our Dachshund/Terrier mix.  She looks like a Dachshund with long legs.  No one much liked her name and we were going to have a dog naming contest for her....but alas, it took so long to get this picture that I think the name is firmly embedded.  Maybe not though.....she has a mind of her own and you can call all you like.....she will come when she gets good and ready.  She was going to stay here just until we found her a home.....well, I do not want my poor 70 yr. old hubby slobbering over his given away/found a new home dog so here she will stay.

Sure enjoyed being out at House of Hope this afternoon.  It's work but who cares when you get to see a lot of well taken care of animals and even join in caring for them.

Tonights meeting was called off so I made a hot ham and cheese with some cranberry relish...and I'm kicking back.  See you all later.

    Hugs, Jackie

I wanted to pop in and wish all the Illinois ladies a wonderful holiday season.  Too bad all our pretty snow is now turning to slush.  The last weather report I heard was calling for a rainy Christmas.  Bleh.

I've been working a lot of extra hours lately.  The end of the year is when everyone suddenly remembers that they NEED to be seen asap (before their deductibles roll over!).   I'm kind of failing at keeping up with gift wrapping and laundry, but hopefully I can get a lot done tonight.  We'll be having the entire family (30 or so) here on Christmas, so tomorrow, after I get home from work, will be spent cleaning the house and prepping food!

This would all be a lot easier if I wasn't still coughing from having the flu a few weeks ago.  I think I pulled some muscles in my back from the coughing, so it's round-the-clock anti-inflammatories for me. I feel like I'm just really exhausted most of the time.

What's this I'm hearing about "any" amount of alcohol being bad for you?!  Eep!  Is there some new study on this, or just the same warnings?  I don't believe I will give up my red wine completely, but I do try and moderate - with my onc's blessing.

Juliette - I'm so sorry.  Hopefully this is a localized recurrence?  Still, I know it must have been devastating to hear that news.  Stay strong and keep us informed.  You know you have all the support and care in the world here.

I actually have lump in my foob side too, but I've been procrastinating having it checked again until after the holidays. This is a heads-up for me to stop putting things off.

Rita - Sorry to hear about your dad.  Glad to hear he's doing better and will hopefully be able to enjoy the holidays.

Navymom - WhooHoo!  Congrats on the good news!   And this Army brat from way back sends a big hug to your son too.

Jackie - Your Teeny is adorable.  I love those sweet soulful eyes.

Well I better get started on this pile.  Those presents aren't going to wrap themselves!

Oh Jackie....Teeny is so cute!  I can see why you'd have trouble giving him up, so you're right....the perfect solution is to just keep him.

I don't have much time this morning as I have to get the sheets changed on the bed and finish up some jellos, deviled eggs, and pies today before my kids roll in later but I wanted to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!  Enjoy your families and friends!

I might make it back on before everyone gets here but I'm not sure about that so MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!

Morning!  1/2 ice on everything out there!  I tossed some salt on the sidewalk and I will give that a chance to work and then make my way towards the driveway and throw some by the garage door and I am pretty sure that is frozen down and I don't want to burn out the motor.  Crazy weather!

Irene...sorry you are still not feeling 100%.  And yes, do get that lump checked out soonest.  Please?  Pretty Please????

Jackie...bco and my computer is not letting me post pics this am but I will try again later!

Ginny...so good to hear from you and yes, you did overdo it but that's OK!  It's Christmas and you are enjoying it all!  Fingers crossed for your scan next week...of course, we need to hear  the results soonest, but you already know that!

BJ..Merry Christmas to you as well!  Sneaking off to any place warm that I don't know about?  I still say we should all chip in and buy a place....

Rita...glad to hear that your Dad is already out of the hospital.  I know you are missing your Mom...me too, especially when I bake the cookies.  It's been over 9 years and it still tugs at the old heart.  Enjoy your family!  Are you having "sleigh rides"????  LOL

    Juliette.....hugs honey!

Time for more java and then some sweats on to see if I can chip some ice.  Then I need to put together a few things for dinner at my Niece's....hope this rain that is supposed to come later stays as rain or it will be a very dicey trip for us.  Tomorrow is just a hop in town...about 6 minutes if we make the light so I am not worried about that little drive!

I will check back later and tomorrow am but in case I miss any of you....Have a wonderful Christmas...enjoy your families, even if your family is only the two of you tomorrow.  Enjoy!  Celebrate!

    What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past,
    courage for the present,
    hope for the future.
    It is a fervent wish
    that every cup may overflow
    with blessings rich and eternal,
    and that every path
    may lead to peace.

Yesterday was off and on rain and not too heavy....today, it's pouring and sounds like it will stay that way until tonight when the temps. go down to 30 degrees.  We may have a slippery X-mas Day.  I'm sure not liking it much, but then  -- a couple of years ago now I'd have welcomed and did -- almost anything.  So, despite the rain I am grateful.  I do look forward to a quiet time with Dh and a small meal ( no over-eating ) with a X-mas matinee.

If I don't get back on, but just as much for the rest of you who may or may not get back here today.....I hope you have a beautiful holiday with tolerable weather, and a wonderful warm time with family, friends or just Dh -- however you celebrate big or small.  Merry Christmas and God Bless.

    Hugs, Jackie

Every Christmas my Mom comes up with some type of quiz or puzzle for all of us "kids" to work on. She has prizes for the winner. I posted last years here. Thought you may want to give it a shot or print out copies for your family and see who gets the most correct. If you're unfamiliar with how these work...the first one is sandbox (PM me if you want the answers):

Morning Everyone.....I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday with family and friends. You prepare all week and then poof it is all over. lol Today is clean up day and getting ready for New Year's Eve. The weather up north is beautiful. It has been snowing all night and there is a lot of snow here. The lake looks lovely with all the snow on it. There are some ice fishermen on it  today, so it must be very frozen. Just wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone.

I hope you all are doing well if you are in tx and for those who are not I hope you are enjoying life. Well off to the shower as I have lots to do today. Have a wonderful weekend.

Remember to be healthy...be happy...enjoy life. Let's ring in the New Year 2010 with good health and happiness for all.

Good morning everyone.  We are sitting here with no snow and quite a wind.  We may get more flurries through the day as we had yesterday.  It's just going to be cold here.  Since I like snow Bj I would not mind having some of yours -- but not too much you understand.  S. Dakota had 15 inches yesterday.  I'm sure that is why we don't live there.

I too noticed that it didn't take long to get the day over with.  Now. a bit of work to get to the magical moments that will bring us to 2010.  Always a little exciting to me to start a new year out.  Hope all of you had a wonderful, loving, Christmas Day.  Heavy on the love. See you all later.

    Hugs, Jackie
