Illinois ladies facing bc

Morning from southern Illinois. I think I am going to have to stop bemoaning the weather. Every time I do it gets worse. At least, we have our furnace back. Now that is worth a celebration.
Dh did not get the movie player hooked up correctly so we went without. Had "Urban Legend" ( an older movie ) that we were going to watch, but no dice. Don't know if it was because we needed a splitter for the t.v., cable box, DVD player or just what. Denny will go down to the local Charter office and find out what he is doing wrong. Many of our movies are given as gifts to us -- and lots of times we are not in the mood or Dh is working -- so we have a few to catch up on now. I almost always love anything that is done by Meryl Streep. She has such versatility as an actress -- couple of my favorites of hers "Out of Africa", "Bridges of Madison County". "Postcards From The Edge". Also like many of Julia Roberts and....Michael Douglas.
Just think, only a couple more months and winter will be pretty much over -- or so I sure hope. We still have no snow here and seems a mite strange, but due to get some Wednesday night, I think. Thing is we never know for sure until it happens. And it could be lots more than what they predict when it finally does. Well, we will see. I feel better about the cold if there is some snow to show for it. As I look out at the roofs around there is a lot of heavy frost. You can always tell who has good insulation in their house by the amt. of frost or un-melted snow on it.
Well, guess I'll start my day -- except for feral cats and Maggie's I will be doing my work inside today and looking out feeling blessed. See you all later when I check back in.
Warm hugs,
Jackie

Here I am - two days in a row, lol. A miracle!
Actually I'm at ABMC - just had my CT, and now I have to wait for 1 more hour for the bone scan (letting the wonderful radioactive junk work its way into my bones.) Then - I'm going to go shop for an hour, then come back to meet with the rads onc. I've got the same one BlackJack had!!! Cool!
I'm sitting in the medical library, it's just all doctors in here doing research/medical stuff - and then me & hubby, haha. Hey, I'm on the BC board, so doesn't that count?
PS - thanks for being so nice and saying such nice things about me. Seriously. I mean it, it's really nice to hear. Sometimes I don't feel so tough, but you guys keep me on my toes
OK - time to go refill my water. Gonna drink a few gallons to get this junk out of my body. Love ya much - xoxo Juliet

Happy New Year's ladies! It sounds like everyone had a good night and is starting the year off ok.
Ginny - SO glad to hear your good news that the chemo is working. I hope that they can reduce some of it so that you can start to feel better.
Juliet - I agree that attitude is a lot so it's good that you are taking the bull by the horns. Your boss stinks! I was so fortunate to have a great boss through my ordeal. Glad you are covered under hubby's insurance.
Buddy - I have no idea what your lumps could be but agree with Susan that it is good news that the onc sent you in a different direction. Good luck with your surgeries.
Marilyn - glad to hear things are going well for you. I like your new picture! Stay strong and let us know how you are doing!
Wendy - we saw the Hangover over the weekend too. I gave it to DH for Xmas as that is his kind of humor. He opened it and announced that he never heard of it! Sometimes I have no idea what planet he lives on. Anyway, we watched it with our friends Saturday and were cracking up! I didn't think it started off slow, but thought it had a lull in the middle - I thought the ransom storyline was kind of dumb. But overall, we all thought it was a great movie.

Conniehar Thanks for the positive feedback. I am getting ready to leave to the surgeons. I will let you know what he says.

Yeah for me...... I just got home from the surgeon. He did not think they were anything to worry about maybe blood or skin. He said they were too perfect. He said he will biopsy them any way when the PS does my exchange. What a reliefe. Thank you for the prayers and concerns

Yeah buddy! What good news! So glad that you had them checked out! You should be able to breathe a sigh of relief now and go on with your life! Hugs!0

Good morning:
I got my little New Year's gift off to most of you. Kater helped with an Addy list but I did not get all of them out. I didn't realize there were so many of us. So I did not forget you, j just miscounted and I am making more.
We seem to be in the midst of good and relieving news and uncertain news. Let's keep the positive energy going. I know like all of you, I have Buster's Mom on my mind/
Good Day to you all!

Good morning everyone.
Jo, sure hope you get your results today. If anything was truly amiss I think they would have gotten the call made promptly. Fingers crossed for you.
Buddy - Yay !!!!
Marilyn -- Good for you. Maybe all you will get out of chemo is being tired -- that would be great. Great to see some progress too with the expanders.
We are going to get snow tomorrow night I think. I don't plan much on what the weatherman says. It's bright and sunny outside right now -- but oh so cold.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hi all,
Congrats Wendyty. You will be missed by all organizations you have given so many hours to these past years. I am sure you will give them many more just in a different way.

Buddy... I just had my exchange surgery on the 11th of December, so if you have any questions let me know. If in fact, my memory is okay, and you had tissue expanders.
Laura... It's good to be heard from. Now that the kids are back at school, surgery is over, and xmas, my birthday, and new years are behind us. I hope to be able to post more.
Jackie... Thanks for the encouragement. My blood work came back as normal. Yippee! However, I took a recommendation from Laura and others, and had my vitamin D checked. It is low so the doc told me how much of a supplement to take. So, once again, all you ladies have given me great advice.
Thanks so much.
Jo

Jo - Great news that you had your D levels checked! Make sure your supplement is D3. D3 is more easily absorbed. You're doing everything right...good job! If you can tolerate it...try to eat brussel sprouts and beets 2x a week. (As I write...I am eating a huge bowl of steamed brussel sprouts! I have to cheat by putting a little butter on them, but the benefits out weigh the butter.)

Mamma Q Thanks. I will have Q's 4 U. Did you have silicone or saline. I think Ii am getting a silicone. I wish more than anything I could have them both done. I dont think the PS wants to touch the other side at all. He sounds like he is already backing out of it. He didnt say how long he would wait for it to soften. Just that he may not be able to and I may have to go to Loyola for a skin flap off my back. Does any one know how many prothesis breasts we are allowed per year or so...I thought it was standard for all women . somthing liek 3 bras a year.

Good Evening Girls....I hope everyone is staying warm with this blast of cold air we are having. Looks like we may be heading for a huge snow storm on Thurs. I hope not as I am having my school flu clinic on Friday. Keeping my fingers crossed for minimal snow.
Jackie...hoping you don't get to much snow. I hope your pets stay warm some were.
Laura...how are you doing. I had my first ever Vit D level drawn and it came back at 33. So I think that is a good start. I am taking 4000 UI of Gel tabs of Vit.D . But I think I really need more boating time so I can really soak up that Vit D. lol
Wendy... Are you enjoying your free time now. Is dh busy at school. I know I am. I have being working late every night...way too much for me. Rethinking next year. I am looking forward to LV next week ..girls wanna have fun !!!!!! All are welcome.
Buddy ..good luck on your exchange. I hope it goes well for you.
Jo ...glad to hear that you had good test results. Whooo we like that. Think sunshine yeah.
Connie ...glad your kids are back into a school routine now.Just thing June is almost here.lol
Juilet...sent you a pm.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr.........It's so cold out there that I even hate to go out to bowl, but I need to pick up a few things at the grocery store before this new snow storm hits so I better get a "mind adjustment" pretty quickly here. I probably should run into the library and stock up on reference material and a few good novels, too. Our lane will be pretty hazardous if we get as much snow as they are predicting. It's always nice to have wood in for the fireplace and some good books on hand!
BJ...I hope your school flu clinic goes off without having to be rescheduled. There's too much work involved in getting ready for these types of things.
Donna, I'm interested in hearing how it goes with your naturalist doctor. I go to one, too, and I love him. I began using him for my lower back problems, but he's helped me lose the post-chemo weight and get rid of inflammation without drugs. I swear by him. Keep me informed on how he deals with "boosting your immune system."
Well, I need to get moving. Stay warm ladies! I'll be back later.

Buddy - how hard is your radiated side? I thought mine was pretty hard, but my ps did the exchange. It didn't turn out as I had hoped as the skin is pretty tight from the radiation so it does not have as much projection as the good side. But, I am glad that I was able to have it done. I wear a small prothesis in that side so that they look even in a bra. If you want the name of my ps for a second opinion, just PM me. Might be worth a second look rather than going through the lat flap surgery. I opted for silicone by the way - my bs swayed me that way as he said it felt more natural.
Laura - my wrist is doing great, thanks. I go for my final checkup on Friday. I thought of you yesterday as I got one of those bad pain twinges in my foob side - 15 seconds and it's gone.
BJ - have fun in Vegas! Hope you don't wake up with a chicken in your room!
Stay warm everyone!

Connie yes I would love to have your PS's name. My skin is very hard and tight up against my chest . Skin from my back sounds so painfull and like it could cause more problems. Thanks
I have to go clean my house now ....so the kids have somthing to do later by messing it up....Ha Ha Ha

What Is Success?
It's doing your work the best your can,
And being just to your fellow man;
It's making money, but holding friends,
And staying true to your aims and ends;
It's figuring how and learning why,
And looking forward and thinking high,
And dreaming a little and doing much;
It's keeping always in closest touch
With what is finest in word and deed;
It's being thorough, yet making speed;
It's daring blithely the field of chance
While making labor a brave romance.
It's going onward despite defeat,
And fighting staunchly, but keeping sweet;
It's being clean and it's fighting fair;
It's laughing lightly at Dame Despair;
It's looking up to the stars above.
And drinking deeply of life and love;
It's struggling on with the will to win,
But taking loss with a cheerful grin;
It's sharing sorrow, and work, and mirth,
And making better this good old earth;
It's serving, striving, through strain and stress;
It's doing your noblest...that's success!
