Just whizzed through several pages of chats.  It has been a crazy summer, but trying to keep up with all of you.  Hello and welcome to the new gals.  Aviva, we are neighbors.. I am in CL.  My ONC is at GSH, but otherwise, all my docs are at Norhtwestern downtown.

Momto7... hope the recon went well today.  Are you back home?

So happy to see Adey back posting.

Mdg... have fun with your exchange student.  How long will she be with you?  We had a German girl with us for a whole school year.

Hoping this steamy weather lets up.  I got a late start on my morning ride today and paid for it SWEAT!

Thinking of everyone in treatments, surgery, and the road to recovery. Hang in there...sorry, I am sure that you get real tired of hearing THAT!

I will not wish thee riches, nor the glow of greatness,
but that wherever thou go some weary heart shall gladden at thy smile,
or shadowed life know sunshine for a while.
And so thy path shall be a track of light,
like angels' footsteps passing through the night.

Good morning very late since it is almost 3:30 p.m.  I had a lot of work this a.m. and then on to feed cats, and then on from there to work and then from work to a nursing home to visit the last lady I sat with.

So, Joan....once again I didn't even read through all the quotes in my mail-box.  This one said to me  -- take me - take me, and then I find your entry and at the end saying that maybe people get tired of hearing it.  Joan...your the angel they need right now.  That is compliments of the great Universe.....a few lines to validate your efforts to help others get through some of those sometimes...very trying times.  Please do keep on being the Angel you are.  Even if you never know it....you have made a great day for someone who may have just been wondering about their day.  Keep up the good work.

Cam -- you too.  You knew just what to say too.  I am in very good company here.

I do hope you all had a good day.  It is cloudy and humid here but tolerable if you don't get in a rush outside.  I'd just as soon it go ahead and rain.  I continue to cheer you all on as well.

    Peace and love

    Jackie

    Hi Ladies!

Sorry I have been missing for six weeks. My daughter was home for four weeks and my DH and I went to Maui for my sisters wedding. It was a beautiful trip. But I'm back!

Yesterday was my last Herecptin treatment!!!!!!!!!

My DH surprised me with inviting anyone who took me to a treatment of doctors appointment the past 18 months and boy did I have a great time. The best way to end this part of my journey.

But the journey never ends does it? It just takes a different path. I found a mole on my shoulder that is new and suspicious. Fortunately I have a dermatologist appointment next week for skin tags, so prayerfully it's nothing.

This journey has taught me many lessons, but being aware of my health and changes in my body has been an important one. There is no yearly test from here forward, not even regular blood work ups from my oncologist. So it's up to us ladies to be our own advocates.

Now it's on to helping others through this journey. Although I pray every day no one else ever has to hear the works cancer, I plan on doing my part to help those who do.

Glad to be back plugged in here.

Grace...what a wonderful entry today.  Lots of joy and happiness, but lots of knowledge too about vigilance for which you are so right.  Big congratulations for getting across the "oops" never-ending river. Though it never quite ends......it can really be extraordinarily ok.  Here's to that ok for everyone.

    Peace and love

Grace welcome home--U sound so happy and I'm sure u'r time away helped.  What a thoughful thing u'r DH did for u And yes--that's over now, I know we have to be more vigilant than we were before but we will learn and trust our instinct too. Stay happy--attitude is an important vaccine.

This sort of shows -- sometimes we look at things the wrong way....this little guy was looking at them just right:

Once a reporter stood in front of a fire as it consumed a house
and then he turned to see the homeowners and their little son
watching it burn. The reporter, fishing for a human interest angle,
said to the boy, "Son, it looks like you don't have a home anymore."
The little boy promptly answered, "Oh, yes, we have a home.
We just don't have a house to put it in."~~~~Barbara Johnson

If I want to feel younger and look younger, then it's only natural that part
of my daily routine is to laugh more. Laughing gives the muscles of my face,
chest, and abdomen a workout. A hearty laugh stimulates my heart rate,
causes me to breathe deeply, and releases happiness hormones, my endorphins.
Laughter is one of the ways I express my gratitude to God. As I laugh, I
release the gladness of my soul into the environment--creating something
that's good for me and good for all those around me.

Yes....I am going.  I love the glows and for some reaason......the fireworks shows are always so nice.  Sort of broke this year....but about all I got last year was some pottery to cook in and would likely be my major interest this year.

Also, if the weather keeps up as it has.....it should be hopefully one of the better years.  I have gone when the humidity was so bad that even after dark was not too pleasant.  So, I want to at least get out the first night.  My BIL lives right back the park so parking for me is free.....another great inducement.

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year’s course.  Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word “happy” would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.  It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

Cam....the Balloon Fest here ( they are held in many areas across the country....is always the third week-end in August. It is fantastic. It is one of the only places I'm aware of where the balloons are set up around a pond......and at dusk when they have the Balloon Glow ( on a count all the ballons fire up the gas jets causing the flames to shoot up and light up the balloon and the night ) you see this gorgeous display of balloons lit up while you also see a reflection of each one in the pond.

As well, we are allowed to go up and interact with pilot and crew....look into the gondola basket....bigger than they look but I'd still have bad claustrophobia were I to attempt to go up in one, and otherwise enjoy the balloons, as an almost hands on experience. I'm told that most other places keep the public well back from the balloons. Some places have fences.......so most of the home town folks adore the way it is done here.

Beauty of a day and staying far cooler with almost no humidity again. Love it when it is 'really summer' and doors and windows can be open. I confess.....I'm almost in need of a sweater when being in some of the stores around here. We keep our house at about 78 so some stores and restaurants are just far too cold for us. Showing our age.

Hope you are all having a fantastic Tuesday.

    Peace and love

OK let me get this straight u can actually see these balloons close up and personal--how beautiful and there are craft booths too--so there must be other kinds of booths too. How fun that sound--those balloons are so pretty to look at in the air--of course I'd be on the ground looking up but still can enjoy it. And this weather is beautiful to be outdoors.

We have alot of Balloon Fests in our area, too and the balloons are just gorgeous.  Momto7, we stopped in Mt. Vernon on our last trip down there so I could shop the shoe store that's right off the interstate.  That's the only place that I've ever been able to find a large selection of narrow shoes.  It's near a golf discount place and has some college classes that (nursing, I think) that are in that area, too.

Karen,  I'm not sure.  I come over quite often to shop and Dave and I love the riverboat.  It's not quite an hour's drive depending on what part of town I head toward!  Once golf season is over, I'll have plenty of time to head that way.

It is the Centralia Balloon Fest...............which is the little town where I live.  By little, I mean very little.   ( pop: 14,200 )  give or take.  They are a lot of fun for the most part.  Don't know about other places....but here it is a three day event.  Ours always starts on a Friday afternoon and finishes up on Sunday afternoon.  I asked one time why ours was always in August ( I'm a replant here.....when I left home at 18.....this and many other things were no where near ) and was told that balloonists pretty much have a circuit....and it was the only time a group of them were free.

Many of the local businesses sponsor a balloon.....which means that they put the owner and usually pilot of the baloon and their spouse up in a nice motel for the Fest.  Anyone who would like ( lots of local people for the most part ) can sign up to be a part of the balloon chase team.  They come into the park with the balloon.....help set it up and get ready for take-off.......then they follow in the chase vehicle whereever the wind currents take the balloon on its flight......and once the balloon comes down, they repack and re-stow the balloon.  Had I been younger when I came back home I think I'd have been  on a chase team.

    Love and peace

    Jackie

tomorrow night....first afternoon and night of the Centralia Balloon Fest.....this will be the 24th. one.
