Hello,
The walk is in Chicago?

Yes chattipatti. I will contact you in a PM with the info.

Come on girls! We need some more walkers! It was a lot of fun last year and it was beautiful there!
If any west siders are going, we can meet up and drive together.

This year the walk will be at Soldier Field. Much easier for suburbs and Southsiders. Better Metra access than going to the north side!
C'mon and get your pink on.
BTW last night I was at the Chicago Sky breast health awareness game. They made a big donation to ACS. They also had some of us survivors participate. We also got a T Shirt and a basket ball.

I didn't even realize they moved it this year!! Can't wait!

Hey all fellow Illinoisians. I'm from the Rockford/Belvidere area. It's about 80 miles or 1-1/2 hours from Chicago. I'm newly diagnosed with Stage IV cancer...just a few months ago. I'm doing okay though because I know I can fight this for a long, long time. I'm stubborn that way...not one to give up easily.

aaoaao, good to meet you. I'm way far outside of the Joliet/Chicago area as well. I live right next town to momto7 from Mt. Vernon. We are about 4 or 41/2 hours north of you, but welcome, welcome, welcome. Good to hear you are stalwart and stoic..... ( my family traits ) because I think it does help you persevere and make the most of life.....no matter what is in it. I don't post here a lot........just usually put in a daily quote. The piece right up above your post is me.............but I started here a long time ago and these are some of the greatest ladies around. I hope you keep coming back a lot.
Peace and love
Jackie

aaoaao,
Glad you are joining our thread. So sorry it is because of BC. I was up in your neighborhood a few weeks ago at the Rock Cut State Park. Had a small family outing there. Very nice place, especially in light of the State's financial difficulties.
Finally pulled out the credit card for the ACS walk. It's close enough to where I live that I might bike to it. Now time to donate to the wonderful breastcancer.org site. Anyone heard of this?

Doxie if you want to donate to breastcancer.org there is a donate button on the top right of this (and every) page in the forum(s).

I was joking about knowing of breastcancer.org. How many of us use this site, but don't donate? They make it easy to donate with all the hints, but do we all do it? I've been slow myself.

Yes I have donated a couple of times. You would be surprised many people do.

Just sent out one more request for joining team Illinois Ladies in the walk OR supporting us with a donation. Any way you can support us will be awesome! There are over 65 on the current mailing list. Some of you have already made donations. If everyone donated at least $10 that would be $650!
Thanks in advance for your support and letting us represent this special group of women we have here.

I wish there was a "like" button for your post Lago! Join us ladies!!! It will be fun.
Just an update on non BC stuff. Our exchange student is amazing! She is already part of the family. So glad we have her! We all adore her. I have been having fun shopping with my daughter. She has senior pictures this week so we have been out trying to find the "perfect" outfit. Also what makes it even more special is that her mom is a 7 year BC survivor.
If anyone is interested in hosting a student, they still have some students coming in September that need host families. If you can't host for the year, they are also looking for families to be a welcome family (host for a few weeks). You don't have to have children to host. If you do have kids, they don't have to be in high school. They accept any families that pass the screening...even single parent homes. PM me if anyone would be interesting to opening their homes to an exchange student. I know our lives will be enriched by having our student with us for the year.
Have a great but warm Sunday!!!

Welcome aaoaao......We are glad that you found us! I am familiar with your area as I grew up in a small town in the Sterling/Rock Falls area! I love your attitude. This is one case where "stubborn" is GOOD! Come and post often and tell us a little more about yourself. Hugs!

I believe that the first test of a truly great person is his or her humility. I do not mean by humility, doubt of his or her own powers. But really great people have a curious feeling that the greatness is not in them, but through them. And they see something divine in every other person.

Wow are we quiet lately. Everyone is on vacation or started back to work---well Jackie and I are still in place.

Yes, Cam....we are still here and we are formidably invincible. But I still had to use my spell checker on those last two words.
Peace and love

Lago - I am glad you have been swamped at work lately! It's better than still looking for work. Do you have a contract job or a permanent one now? I hope it is going well.
I have been reading but not posting much lately. I am around though! Wishing HEALTHY thoughts for all of you - especially those still recovering from surgery and going through chemo/rads. Hugs!

Morning ladies. I,for one, have been in chemo coma. The good news is that was my last chemo and I will not miss it!!!!!!! Next I start rads and then ovary suppression and some AI. So of course the journey is not really done. Envision me happily disembarking from the chemo boat with shaky legs and walking down the pier looking for the radiation boat, hoping its a nicer cruise.
Lago I will definitely make a donation but I might not get farther than that this year.0 -
