Di.....yes, love can become overwhelming.  Hope you will find a way to do just like zap's daughters and HELP your loved ones back off just a bit.  Perhaps they are sort of thinking/hoping....now she REALLY needs me but you are strong and you really don't.

Everyone wants to feel useful and needed and prove that they can carry your burdens for a while and you are just getting some extra love.  I am just happy to hear you say you can often forget that you have Stage IV................we are meant to live every day as much as we can.....we are using up the gift of life we were given and will until we use it all up.  That doesn't take too much help really.

Hope the storm is well past you now.

    Peace and lots of love

Oh, that was quite a storm.  Sky was very black.  We got 1 1/2 inches of rain very quickly.  Needed it though.

Happy Birthday, Rita.  Catfish cakes all around! I cannot believe that I have not even gotten out on the golf course this summer.  I am either too lazy, too busy, or it is too HOT!  My clubs are still dirty from last summer. Maybe I will shine them up and give me an incentive to hit the links again for fresh dirt.

aaoaao... I am sure that your family means well, but they will probably get tired of hovering when you are still kicking around years from now.  Keep up your great spirit.

Subject of bras comes up every now and then....  I try to get by without one as much as possible, but when I think I need one, I love the new Jockey bras that I found at Kohl's a couple weeks ago.  Might be the same ones that Hope has found.  Even those Genie or Ahhhh bras work well.  I invested in several pricey bras, but they don't get out much.

Lago... hmm, acupuncture.  Still not sure if I want to go that route.  Dr Feldman was so generous with an extensive presentation at my LE support group earlier this month.  Someone asked about acupuncture and he really poo-pooed it.  I guess there is no real proof that it actually does anything.  But who knows, I may want to try it someday.  My LE is very stable and not really a problem these days.  I wear my custom sleeves everyday, all day and a special night sleeve at night.  I also go through my LE exercises 2-3 times a day, work on my self massage 2-3 times a day, jump on my rebounder, and drink tons of water.  With all that... things stay good.  It sure takes up alot of my time, though!  Good thing that I work from home or I would drive alot of people crazy!Laughing

Dr. Feldman is great. Not sure who's going to write my script for my sleeves once he retires. Other than seeing him once a year, wearing my sleeves daily till at least 6pm and of course exercise I don't do much for my LE. No need for acupuncture for me either. Not sure if Dr. Feldman is just old school but if it helps some people then there must be something to it.

Aaoaa??? I think u'r family wants to hover--for a while to hep, when they see u'r active  they wiil back off and when u become a PITA they will look at the clock on the wall and then look at u--so let them hover for a while--just a little and then they'll feel better and u will too and they will be surprised, then they'll back off but if it's going on to long now then just sit down and have a good talk with everyone--sometimes they worry more than we do. Especially a mom.

Storm is done I hope wow it was spooky.

Aviva I found tanks with some spandex to be soft comfortable and have a slight support when even sports bras are uncomfortable.

Aaoaao I definitely would tell your loved ones it would help you if they stop hovering. Maybe then they'll back down. It sounds like you have arrived at your strong place and they have not. Sometimes I want to tell non-BCers to shut up. It's really annoying to get advice and rosy glow pep talks based on false facts. It's also annoying to get the poor poor you talks. Instead they could figure out how to make today better for me and I'll worry about the rest with the help of my doctors and my B C sisters.

I just spent16hours with no electricity due to the storm. A good 8 of those were spent thinking about what hotel I was going to go to tonight if the power didnt come back! So glad to have ac again.

Whoa T. Hobbies, I'm glad your a/c is back as well.  In the kind of heat we have been having you need the air on when at all possible.  Even though we have ours set at 78..........we feel like we are walking into a freezer when we come in from outside.

Pretty dry and dusty here....along with the 101 temp.  We could use a little rain.  I foolishly went out and washed my car in this heat.  I only did a fairly minor job but I just hated to keep going to work with such a filthy car.....and banks are closed on Monday so didn't want to use my cash for the car-wash.  Ick.....never again in the heat.

    Peace and love

Oh thank you for the birthday wishes and the cakes!  Laughing  I don't think I've ever seen a catfish cake .....and my fishing friends call me the Catfish Queen!  That's just too funny!

Wow!  It's looking pretty dark here right now but so far we haven't had any storms in the past few weeks.  We got a few sprinkles this morning but nothing that amounted to too much.  In fact, we really could use a nice shower but not those nasty storms some of you are getting!

We're off to a cookout tonight!  I was asked to bring an appetizer so I have meatballs simmering in the crockpot.

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.  Hugs to all of you!

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile,
nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to us

Thanks for the advice ladies, Im going to start googling for cammies and light undershirts. I actually enjoy not having any bra on but want a layer under my actual shirt. Maybe once Im healed more itll be ok.  I keep reading about a Nordstrom measuring- is any better than others for that? I think my closest is Schaumburg but dont mind travelling later when its time.

And unrelated: is the only way to get the diagnoses/treatement info to fill out that long form under profile?

aviva5675 If you can find a place that specializes in bras for  women who have had a Mastectomy I'm sure they can measure too. I went to a lot of places. Everyone kept saying (after exchange) I was a 34C or 36C. I found that a 34D seemed to fit best. I eventually went to Nordstroms for a fit… they too said I was a 34D. Before all this I used to be much smaller so my experience with boobs was small. Tongue Out But I did know I was a 34. Try Jockey. I wore a lot of their tees and camis. Probably on sale this weekend too.

When we are conscious of being part of a wider universe,
we can begin to see that what we do matters.  Every action
we take has a consequence somewhere, whether good or bad.
Everything that happens affects a part of the whole body of life.
Having this knowledge of being part of something larger may motivate
us to contribute to the greater good in whatever ways we can.

aviva5675 - I wanted to purchase from Nordstrom's but since it is not part of my insurance network, I had to go through Hanger in Elgin.  They specialize in prosthetics.  They were very nice there.

Weirdly though, I find the expensive bra and form uncomfortable after awhile.  Hanger made a recommendation for me, while I was waiting for it to come in.  And that was to buy a regular comfortable bra with no underwire, a bit of form to the cup, but was a size larger than what you really are.  Then use lamb's wool to fill out the cup. Again, sounds weird, but so much more comfortable.

    Hope this helps.

thanks Boatin-- I guess while the TE are in and being filled (Im just starting) not much there to try to be fitted for- Ill have to ask the PS later into it if he thinks the TE need support or not, or wait until after the exchange. Just went for a walk around the neighborhood- its a nice day in Algonquin!

Oh do I love this one:

Flexibility is a goal worth the striving.  It eases our relations with others, and it stretches our realm of awareness.  Letting go of rigid adherence to what our perceptions were yesterday assures us of heightened understanding of life’s variables and lessons.  Being torn between two decisions, feeling ambivalent about them, need not create consternation, though it often does. . . . Our contradictory responses, which we may express to others or to ourselves, keep us on our toes, lend an element of excitement to our lives, and push us to think creatively about our perceptions.  Growth and change are guaranteed.

Welcome Bikergirl!  Sorry you have to be on these boards but glad you found our group.  Tons of great ladies hang out here!  Sometimes some of us meet up for lunch.  What part of town do you live in?  I am in the far West burbs.  A few of us are doing the Strides breast cancer walk in October at Soldier Field.  You are welcome to join our team if you like!  How have the side effects from chemo been?  I hope tolerable.  Glad you only have 1 more chemo!  It will be nice to be done!

Hi bikergirl Welcome. I'm in Chicago. Not sure if you're ready to join our team Strides Against Breast Cancer (American Cancer Society) next month. Sounds like you'll be in the middle of radiation. You should come to the event though. I'll be at the survivor tent. If you want more info about the event or  how to join the team pm me. I'm leading the team but mdg is the unofficial co-captain.

Welcome biker girl. I have talked to you on the other thread but didn't realize you we're an IL lady too. I'm in the northern burbs.

Camille is one of your pen names "anonymous" too. You are so wise and prolific.

Wow, if I don't keep up with you ladies everyday I fall way behind.

Welcome to the new women, congratulations to those ending treatments and good thoughts to those currently undergoing treatment.

This is my busy time (ok busiest-seems I'm always busy) for work so I'm travelling almost non-stop, including weekends. I will, however, check the schedule and see if I can do the walk. MDG-I'll let you know if I can go and we can share a ride!

    Miss you all-I'll try to be better about checking in. {{hugs}}
