The three in Denver looked to be having a great time. I liked the look of what Melanie had in her glass - I am sure it was for medicinal purposes.

    greetings from Denver!

Neither Melanie nor I brought our computers, so the pix will have to wait till Mel gets home...

We are having fun, lots of sightseeing. Catherine's garden is lovely, and she is trying her hand at vegetable gardening. The weather has been a lot warmer than Boston, and somewhat cooler than Mel's home, so everyone is happy...  Catherine is tiring us out with walks to parks and thru neighborhoods in her area. She is a little dynamo, that's for sure!

We had a spa morning. Since I only do this when I see these girls, this is my first (and probably only) in 2009. Wonder why this is so easy when I with these ladies, but never on the agenda at home???

    Love to you all.

Ahhh....Leah and Melanie....let us know what Catherine feeds you....I miss her yummy meal descriptions!   You must be having a great time...now pics yet!

My basement flooded last night, the driveway washed out and the volleyball court washed out...we had a super duper rain last evening.   So I cleaned the basement all day....yuck!

Would rather be with Catherine, Leah and Melanie...that's for sure.

Hi, everybody... a quiet Sunday morning here, a bit blue that Leah and Melanie are on their way home today... I enjoyed so much their company!!!  I just wished I had not brought back a bad cold from California that took a lot of my energy this past week... but we made the most of it on all accounts... and my DH is very impressed by these two wonderful women. I'll upload a few pics soon... Time to turn my attention to yard work before everything goes bad from lack of TLC... The day is glorious, no tornadoe warning in sight... good flying day...

Terry, I am sorry to read about the flooding of your basement, what a bummer (sp?). Hope you'll soon have sunny dry days to forget about it. Hope your veggies are still there (hail was the problem here the last 2 weeks, and it did not help, but looks like everything is on the mend). I see you on line, but i do not know whether it is you or your children, so I do not call in... do not hesitate to call on Skype: if on line, it's me, not my dogs!!!

Carynn, we talked "rhubarb" as we were walking around the (not very big) yard and garden... How do you feel after your flu episode? When I see how crappy a simple head cold makes you feel... I hope you got back to normal... are you working?

Alyson, SammieKay, Pat, Marsha, Hillary... all in our thoughts... sending you sunny hugs from Denver. Till soon...

    Hi everyone!

Oh Terry - I'm so sorry to hear about your basement. That's awful. How do you get the water out? Does it have to be pumped? Sounds like you really had your hands full today.

Catherine - I'm good! How are you feeling? To me colds and flu always seem so much harder to tolerate on a lovely summer day as opposed to winter. I hope that you are feeling better real soon.

Cant wait to see pictures everyones visit! I sure wish I could have been there also! I will be joining the San Diego lunch bunch for their get together this month as DH and I will be passing thru then. It will be really nice to meet some of the ladies I've talked to for so long!

Have a great night all. TTFN! :)

Well just lost my post.  Grrrr!  It was short so I hadn't copied it.

Sounds like a lovely time was had by all in Denver.  Hope someday we can have another attempt to get everyone together.  That would be awesome.  Catherine, sounds like you really showed everyone a good time.  I was surprised you were under the weather as Leah mentioned you being a dynamo and energetic.  Can't wait to see pictures.  I need to get my Skype to working again.  The laptop I used is still sick.  I don't think Skype in downloaded on the desktop and I know it isn't on this one.

I am tired. Off to bed.  Took the grandchildren back to Houston today.  My daughter met us halfway, so I wouldn't have to drive so much.  Bless her heart.  She caught a 6 am flight out of Vegas and had a layover in Dallas.  She got home about 1 pm Vegas time or 3pm Houston time.

Gosh Terry, bet that was a mess to clean up.  Hope you and your home have recovered.

Hugs to all.  Does anyone have any news on our Marsha or Pat.?  Love to all, Sammie Kay

Hello everyone!   As usual I've been keeping up with your comings and goings and good to see everyones doing well.  Can hardley wait to see pics of Leah, Melanie and Catherines get together.

I'm doing pretty good considering an increase in the abdominal skin mets that required an increase in the abraxane/avastin schedule.  I was down to 2x week but now back up to 3x week until we can get them under control.  But the good news is the chest mass has continued to shrink on every scan so I'm grateful.  If the fatigue isn't too bad I'm planning on trying part-time work come August.  Do you believe it will be one year in August since this reoccurrence??  Man does time fly even when you AREN'T having fun.

It's darn hot here in Texas right now it's 98 degrees and we haven't had rain in SO long.  Water restrictions are in place with once weekly use of sprinklers on your assigned day.  BUT you're allowed to hand water any day anytime so I get out after the sun goes down and soak my plants but the grass is getting really hard to get/keep green so I may have to let it go for now.  Anyone know a good rain dance?

Well as always I'll be thinking of you all and wish you continued good health and best to your families.Love,

    Pat

((((((((((((((((Pat)))))))))))))))))))), thank you for your update... glad the mass is shrinking, sorry you have to continue the abraxane (so tiring) and the avastin, but it seems to keep things in check when you up the ante... stay cool and comfortable... hope this heat wave of yours will break soon... it's been hot here, but a thunder storm brought some needed rain tonight and cooled down the air... my tomatoes are coming along (babies)... fun to watch grow.

Thinking of you always and sending warmest hugs... Catherine

Hi, everybody... I am sure you heard the news today, but in case you did not, here is some encouraging studies coming up at the end of the month for triple negative bc...

    http://www.curetoday.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/article.show/id/2/article_id/1116

I know, there is always a lot of hype, but every avenue is worth pursuing... surely, there will be more clinical studies open to those who need them most...

    Hugs to all, Catherine

My onc told me about this about a month ago saying if the skin mets didn't improve she wanted to get me on this trial.  My brother in Austin called me when this aired today to tell me to watch it.  I'm so excited that 1)  My onc is always up on the latest trials/studies and  2) this is finally a few more studies to address trip neg patients.

Thanks for the link Catherine, good article!

(((((((((((((((((((((((Pat))))))))))))))))))))))))))  So glad to hear from you.  And so excited for you about the shrinkage of the tumor.  That is great news.  I am burning up with you Pat. I just stay in the house in air conditioning.  I told my husband I wanted to move up north.  He said, "Would you rather stay in the house in the summer because of heat or stay in the house in the winter because of the snow?"  Hmmmmm. When you put it that way, I guess I will stay put.

Thanks for the links, Catherine.  I am going to read them now.

I have my regular appt. with the onc. here in Victoria tomorrow morning.  He does a blood test for markers and a very basic physical exam.  No scans.

I am off tomorrow, so will try to put my house back in order after the company I've had lately.

    Hugs to all, Sammie Kay

Leah and Melanie....you both look great!  But where is Catherine?

Catherine tried to connect with me on skype the other night, but someone (kids) had disconnected my webcam and when I re-connected it, I still couldn't figure out how to turn it on...I am soooo technologically stupid!

Pat...so glad your mass is smaller, just wish you didn't have the skin problem or the heat to deal with.   It is cool and rain, rain, rain here.   I don't think it will ever get warm enough for tomatoes!

Got the basement clean...fortunately it was just overflow from the rain gutters...no drain backup.  Everything in my storage/pantry room is in rubbermaid bins, so all I had to do is emply the room, have the boys take the rug to the clothesline for drying and then mop and clorox the floor.   But it is still work.   We are okay as long as it doesn't rain buckets at one time.   It did wash out Rachel's volleyball court and our driveway though.   DH is disgusted with the outside repairs.

Still heading off to baseball just about every evening, between rain drops.  That will go on until the end of July.

My client at work, who was just diagnosed got good news....1.5 cm, no lymph nodes, HER2 neg, she will have chemo and rads, but everything is looking good so far for her.

Well....got to get ot bed....love you all.   Anyone hear from Marsha...wondering how she is.

    Hugs to all,

Happy 4th of July, all you US citizens!   I love this holiday, usually, and we were holding our breath to see if we were going to be 'rained out' of all the festivities. But I think we are going to be ok.. only a pop-up thunderstorm predicted for midday. Hope they are wrong, as they usually are!

I know most of you wouldn't be visiting the Stage IV thread, but there is a central address book where you can register a home email or a home address and a contact person who would always know your whereabouts. Also a BC contact person who would be in touch with you. If this interests you, please check it out. You need to PM the owner for a password, and need to agree not to share it. But it is worth it if you are active and want to contact people by email who are not on our thread.

Anyway, job seach is on AGAIN.. might be harder at this time of year....(sigh).

    Love.

Hi everyone & Happy 4th of July!

We are just back from a well deserved, but way too short, vacation. We mostly traveled the Pacific Coast Highway, and made a big loop of CA & AZ ending in the mountains with relatives to enjoy the holiday. I also had the opportunity to have lunch with the San Diego lunch bunch. It was so nice to meet people in person. All in all, it was very nice!

SammieKay - Did you get a new laptop or figure out what was wrong with it? Have you been out on the boat lately?

Pat - You sound good. That's great news on the mass, keeping fingers and toes crossed and sending you prayers and good wishes to eliminate the skin mets too. Do you have any more info as to if you'll be doing the trial? I'll have to Google how to do a rain dance. I'll keep you posted if I can make it rain in AZ, I'll send you the info for TX. ;) (((Pat)))

Catherine - I'm so jealous of your meeting with Leah and Mel! It sure looks like you all had a great time!

Terry - How's things? Glad the basement wasn't too bad.

Leah - I guess I didn't realize this last job was contract too; or I forgot. Keep us posted. If I hear of anything I'll let you know as well. How was your 4th? Do you go down to the big celebration in Boston? Always looks really cool on TV. :)

Time to go see if I remember how to cook. Have a safe and relaxing holiday weekend. Talk to you soon!

For those of us who have worried about Marsha...all of us...I have spoke with her a couple of times and she is in good spirits and healing.  Lots of family and friends to keep her busy this summer!  I hope to see her soon!

I am so happy to hear of Pat's progress!  Such good news!

I am ashamed to admit how far behind I am.  I will try to do better!

    Love you all...

(((((((((((((((Melanie))))))))))))))))) THANK YOU for the hard posting work (I know, spare time is probably not what you have in big supply right now)... As everybody will have understood, we ate and drank a lot... :-)

Also, thank you so much for relaying the good news about Marsha... Hello there... (((((((((((((Marsha))))))))))), we miss you so much here... when I read back to the beginning, if it weren't for Karen and you, we may not have started this thread... almost 30 months of nice friendships...

I spend all my time in the yard, right now, using the rare opportunity of having really moist soil to plant (we had so many tropical rain like I remember summers in Houston), which is why I do not post much, but always thinking of you, girls... and wishing the best to you all...  I miss Melanie and Leah already, they were such fun and interesting to be around...

    Hugs all around... Catherine

Oh my goodness! What; awesome pictures.  Thank you so much for posting them.  Appreciate your time and trouble. I still don't know how to post pics.  Laziness on my part.  Everyone looks so beautiful.  Thanks again.

Let's try to get something going when Alyson is in the states.  Maybe we could meet someplace central to all.  The airlines are having some real  good deals lately.  Maybe LasVegas would work.  They usually have some deals for tickets and rooms.  And we have our own "cruise director" in Diann.  I read a beautiful post by Diann on Phil Mickelson.org about his wife and mother both having breast cancer.  She said it all in such a beautiful way.

I am going to download Skype on our desktop computer.  I am still using this laptop that is real 'touchy' and I don't like it at all.  No, no new laptops in our budget these days.  Things continue to be 'dead' at our dealership.  Seems as if motorcycles and ATV's are not in any budgets these days.  We continue to hang in there and just keep our budget really, really limited to the bare necessities.  I am thankful I can still work and have a great job for someone like me.

Stay cool all in the "heat belt", that would include Victoria,TX  UGH!

Thanks for the report on Marsha.  {{{{{{{{{{{Marsha}}}}}}}}}}}}}}. Continue to heal and know you are always on our minds and in our hearts.  Love you.

Well, better get going with the fun stuff  for Sat. like, laundry. LOL

Love and hugs to all, Sammie Kay
