I hope that Jordan wins too, but Lindsay's free style did knock my socks off last night. Wow! I've cleared my calendar for tonight and plan not to answer the phone either. What an entertaining season......I hate to see it end!

Well, reading some comments on DWTS facebook page, of course some people thought Lindsey Sterling should win and they say it is because Jordan had dance experience prior to the show. However, Lindsey has a musical background and dances to her violin playing, and there have been numerous contestants with dance backgrounds before. Look at Meryl, she is a gold medalist ice dancer.

My son is home for Thanksgiving and watched with me last night and when he saw Jordan and Lindsay dance, he asked which one was the professional dancer, he couldn't tell, thats how good Jordan is.

And even tho Jodan is who I wanted to win, and he very much deserves and earned the mirror ball, I am pretty sure the producers of the show and other powers that be have their own ways of manipulating results to make what they want to happen. Lindsey Arnold, having never won, but come so close, so often, and basically being seen as a "good employee", I think they wanted to reward that and made sure she won this time. They do that by the the style of dance and music they give each finalist, and also by the line up of the dancers...on Monday Lindsey was last but on Tuesday, Jordan went last and picked up that momentum, and then they threw in that little "vote one more time" caveat. His and Lindsay's final dance was more energetic than their freestyle and took him over the top.

I did enjoy the reprisal of both property brothers dancing with Emma!

I think both final couples were very well matched with their partners. Mark is kind of crazy and Lindsay was fully on board with being out on the edge with him (and has dance and performance background herself). Jordan & Lindsey were true partners. I think he taught her as much as she taught him. I would have been perfectly happy either way, (but am, myself, more happy that Jordan won). What a fun, fun season! At the end of the show, did you hear it announced that in the spring they will have an "All Athlete" competition in the spring? I'm not sure what I think of that idea. This is what it says online:

When Dancing with the Stars returns in Spring 2018 for season 26, it will be unlike anything the show has ever done. That's because fans will get an extremely shortened season that features all athletes.

During the finale of season 25, which Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold won, host Tom Bergeron announced that the Spring season will be a shortened, 4-week event. The smaller season may have to do with ABC double-booking big reality shows as American Idol will arrive in March. The new season will likely be instead of the previously announced Junior edition, which seems to have gone away quietly.

Season 26 will also be entirely devoted to sports, with all of the contestants being athletes from various fields. Because of the shortened season, there will only be 10 couples, but that still probably means quite a few double or even triple eliminations.

The good news is that having all athletes means they should all be on roughly equal footing (unless they add in a gymnast or ice dancer). And with a much shorter season, maybe the show can attract some A-list sports talent, though I assume people like Kobe Bryant and Michael Phelps might be a lofty ideal. The real trick is going to be finding five female athletes to compete. The show often struggles to find one or two.

There are big changes coming up for Dancing with the Stars 2018, as reported by E! News. Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews will return as hosts, but the season 26 contestants will be limited to just 10 contenders. And, these contestants will be athletes only. Perhaps this choice was made because of the popularity athletes have had on the show in recent seasons. But, this means that no pop stars, actors, musicians or army heroes will appear. The show is set to premiere on April 30, 2018, with the cast announcement going down on Good Morning America during the week of April 9, 2018, according to The Inquistr.

From the Winter Olympics, the show was surely doing some fishing for cast members after watching the competitions. Some of the rumored possibilities for the cast include Adam Rippon, Chloe Kim, Ester Ledecka, Maddie Rooney, John Shuster, and Mirai Nagasu. According to Entertainment Weekly, some of these athletes (along with others) have come out to say that they would love to be on the show. Figure skater Mirai Nagasu told USA Today that she would love to be on DWTS, while bobsledder Aja Evans told Entertainment Weekly, "I would love to. I think it would be funny. I think most of my family is completely made for TV, so I would love to be on something like that." Others who have publicly said they would be willing to join the show include Ice dancers Maia and Alex Shibutani; bobsledder Carlo Valdes; ice dancer Zach Donohue; luger Chris Mazdzer; hockey player Meghan Duggan; and snowboarder Maddie Mastro.

    Thanks Ruth!

I was wondering when ABC would make an announcement about this season! I had heard a snippet that the cast was going to be all athletes, but hadn’t thought about what it would be like without contenders like pop stars and others. Only 10 contestants sounds interesting. Maybe less painful dancers to watch, however, less time for contestants to improve? They are starting much later too! Usually they want to start in March and end in May which I think is when sweeps week is. Who knows, maybe the switch up will keep it fresh. Sure love love loved last season, I watched Jordan and Lindsey’s dance to Rollin on the River on YouTube tons of times since then!

In the past year, I’ve sought out to read numerous autobiographies/biographies of top athletes, just finished Katerina Witt’s and llllloved Maria Sharipova’s book and numerous others. Athletes are amazing!

Athletes know how to train, so I don't image they would need as much time to improve as an old star (or a very busy present star) would. I'm putting it on my calendar right now!

    Here we go!

Dancing with the Stars Spring 2018 Cast Has Been Revealed!

    By Jim Donnelly | Apr 13th, 2018

The brand new Dancing with the Stars cast featuring all athletes has been revealed live exclusively on Good Morning America! Get ready for a phenomenal four-week event filled with amazing athletes like Adam Rippon, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jennie Finch Daigle, Josh Norman, Tonya Harding and much more! Break out the sequins and spray on the tans for the return of the biggest dance party on the planet. See a rundown of every star headed for the ballroom on Dancing with the Stars 2018 below. Dancing with the Stars: Athletes will have its season premiere on Monday, April 30 8|7c on ABC.

ADAM RIPPON: One of the most dramatic figure skaters on the planet, Adam won the hearts of America earlier this year. In addition to his recent team bronze medal in PyeongChang, Adam has garnered nine medals on the international circuit over the last four years, including the 2016 U.S. men's championship title. Now Adam steps off the ice and into the ballroom with pro partner Jenna Johnson.

    image

ARIKE OGUNBOWALE – Arike Ogunbowale is a junior at Notre Dame and member of the women's basketball team. Now she's embarking on a brand new adventure with pro partner Gleb Savchenko on Dancing with the Stars!

    image

CHRIS MAZDZER - In PyeongChang, South Korea, Chris made history becoming the first-ever American athlete to win a medal in the Men's Single Luge event. Not just beauty and brawn, Chris has a degree in Business Administration/Finance, and when he's done with his athletic career, he aspires to be a financial consultant. Of course, he may want to consider a career in dance after his time in the ballroom with pro partner Witney Carson.

    image

JAMIE ANDERSON - Jamie Anderson is one of the top female snowboarders in the world and has won a record 15 X Games medals since she was 15 years old. Jamie led the U.S. medal sweep with a gold at the Slopestyle competition in Sochi in 2014 and successfully defended her gold medal in Slopestyle in PyeongChang in 2018. Now she takes on a brand new challenge with pro partner Artem Chigvintsev.

    image

JENNIE FINCH DAIGLE – Softball star Jennie Finch Daigle started pitching at age eight, with her father as her personal coach. In 2004 in Athens, her ASA team dominated their competitors and won the gold. Sports Illustrated hailed them as the greatest team of all time. Jennie created a signature line with Mizuno and pioneered the use of pink in women's softball equipment. Pink and black became her signature. Now she looks to create some signature dance moves with pro partner Keo Motsepe.

    image

JOHNNY DAMON – A Major League Baseball star for 18 seasons, Johnny Damon was one of the most outstanding, respected and durable players in the game. After winning the 2004 World Series with the Boston Red Sox, Johnny signed with the New York Yankees in 2006. He joined Babe Ruth as the only full-time, everyday players to achieve World Series rings with both the Red Sox and Yankees. Now Johnny is ready to play ball for the Mirrorball with pro partner Emma Slater.

    image

JOSH NORMAN – Josh Norman became the highest-paid NFL cornerback in 2016 upon signing with the Washington Redskins after spending his previous four seasons with the Carolina Panthers. As he enters the seventh season, he proves to remain one of the most elite athletes at his position. Josh gives back to his South Carolina hometown community and provides academic enrichment opportunities for youth through his foundation, Starz24. Now he's trading in his football cleats for dancing shoes teaming with pro partner Sharna Burgess.

    image

KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA's all-time leading scorer, a six-time NBA champ and the league's only six-time MVP. Before he left office, President Barack Obama awarded Kareem the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. It's almost as cool as the coveted Mirrorball Trophy which Kareem will try to win with pro partner Lindsay Arnold.

    image

MIRAI NAGASU - Mirai Nagasu was one of the youngest figure skaters to win a national title in 2008 and earned a spot to represent the U.S. in PyeongChang at the age of 24, where she made history by becoming the first American woman to land a triple axel there. She performed the difficult three-and-a-half revolution jump, helping Team USA win a bronze medal in the team event. Now she looks to add a Mirrorball trophy to her list of accomplishments with pro partner Alan Bersten. image

TONYA HARDING – Tonya Harding won her first skating competition at the age of five. In 1991, at Senior Nationals, Tonya became the first American woman to attempt and land the extremely difficult Triple Axel. Her life story was recently depicted in the award-winning film I, Tonya. Now Tonya's story continues down a new road as she steps onto the dance floor with pro partner Sasha Farber.

    image

Dancing with the Stars: Athletes kicks off with each of the 10 athletes being paired up with a pro dancer, then follows their preparation and hard work as they hit the dance floor for the most competitive season ever. Each week these athletes will leave their comfort zones and endure hours of grueling rehearsals to master new dance styles and technical choreography to perform a dance. Renowned ballroom experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli return to the ballroom to judge the competitive dances, along with viewer votes. In the end, only one athlete will rise above the rest to be crowned champion and win the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

Hosted by two-time Emmy®-winning host Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, Dancing with the Stars: Athletes will have its season premiere on MONDAY, APRIL 30 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT).

Fun show! A few contenders in there which is always good. Missed the first couple dances. Tonya Harding was way better than I thought she’d be. Adam Rippon may go on to be the first gay person to win the mirror ball, and that’s fine by me! It’s hard to remember the different names as many of these sports I’ve never followed. I liked Jaimie and Artem. Mirai and Alan were a bit too ambitious for the first dance, save some of those moves for later on in the season. There may be a push to get Sharna to win a mirror ball since she has been around for awhile and come close several times but never got the prize. Well, maybe with Josh, she just might!!!

I enjoyed the sports theme at the beginning! I voted live and then again after the show. A couple observations are that it didn't seem fair that half the country basically got to pick who stayed and who went, and four weeks doesn't seem long enough. It already feels rushed.

I enjoyed all the dances. Wow, you can tell the ice skaters, can't you?! All good. I adore Adam. Mirai was, not suprisingly, good and Tonya was very surprisingly good. Josh is the best non-skater guy.......the best, sexiest dance of the night IMO. I also liked Jennie. She was a little stiff but compelling.

I knew as soon as I saw the cast list that I'd be rooting for Adam, Mirai, Chris & Josh (because football players always do well). Chris definitely has room for improvement, which is what DWTS is about. Loved, loved, LOVED Adam & Jenna. I just had the biggest smile on my face all the way through his dance.

Karem, as cool as he is, should be the next to go. I've always thought that you just can't get the smooth lines you need if you are overly tall (or short for that matter), and he is way too tall (plus he can't dance!).

I missed his dance, but easy to see the height difference he has with Lindsay won’t work in their favor.

I had to miss the first 40 minutes so just started with Chris's dance. All the routines I watched were very good, although I didn't like Arike's dance as much as the judges did. I especially enjoyed the Team Football dance. I agree the eliminations (from what I saw).

Wow don't know that I like this 4 week schedule but I guess it's better than nothing. Ruth Kareem really should have gone last week, really liked the Team Football dance and Miri was beautiful but oh my so competitive, guess that's what it takes to be an Olympian.

Wow, what an entertaining show! Athletes really bring it!!! Yes, eliminations were appropriate.

Mirai’s dance was absolutely magical. I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing in week two, it was sooo good. Adam’s dance was equally amazing but in a different, wonderful way. I think Josh is hot! Generally, I don’t have much reaction like that to men on TV. Kareem’s dance with a “tall” Lindsay was incredibly creative! I wasn’t a fan of Arike or Jennie’s dances. Arike was too often motionless and Jennie was bland. Very good routines by both Chris and Tanya.

TeamTennis was cute to watch, but TeamFootball’s dance was a great big touchdown! Absolutely super fun routine!

    Enjoying the season!

It's interesting that football players as compared to dancers from other team sports on the show) often are great dancers. The dramatic/actor component of figure skating gives them a definite edge in the dances. Chris did very well. Miari was a beautiful Disney Princess, but I too was concerned about her feeling so upset about what were good scores the first week. I don't know how they will get down to three couples by the end of next week......because won't finals be the week after? Way too short!

I agree with this week's eliminations. Three couples are going to be eliminated next week. The competition is really close this season, so it's going to be really tough to choose who should go. I see Mirai & Adam in the finals, but I'm having a hard time choosing the third. I'm torn between Chris & Josh.

Yes, Ruth, I noticed many seasons ago that football players always seem to do really well. I think it's because they're accustomed to committing to such a tough training regimen & they have to be agile on their feet.

I'm so bummed that it's such a short season. Sad It'll make the wait for So You Think You Can Dance that much longer.
