Lets conduct our own study on how we all got breast cancer

The orange soda dye - of course!!! Did YOU drink the McDonald's orange soda, too?
Have you seen how orange colored Sunkist soda turns your tongue?
Oh, the folly of youth!

I not only ate the pink snowballs, I would often take the pink part off and eat just that. And yes, your make a good point, the boys did not eat the pink snowballs. maybe it was the big pink balls that scared them off...
And if its the dyes, then how about the kool pops hmmm?
More man things we could have used to protect ourselves from BC:
Brylcream, Hai Karate, cruex

I reckon it all started at those high school parties when we played those childish kissing games like Spin-the-bottle or Postmans Knock. This was way, way back in the good old days, of course! Every time I got the pointy end of the bottle or vice versa, it was always the group slime ball who I won or won me. Why did they ALL think they had to cover our whole face with their mouths? I used to get the dry retches before the parties at the thought of that stuff. I'm sure all that dry heaving stuffed up my chest chemistry and left me with BC 'seeds.'

Mutant corn kernels. Tainted and biologically engineered by my Uncle Sam. Preserved, fried, and greased up for my willing consumption.
How could my mother's brother do that to me? Or is Uncle Sam my father's brother?...
Give us this day our daily bread ... it doesn't say CORN bread... but... but then again, there are wheat diseases, too. Isn't matzoh made of ... no, matzoh is ... wait, I'm not Jewish and I'm not sure.
Wait...
Five grains are forbidden for use during Passover in any processed form but dry-roasting and as matzoh: wheat, barley, spelt, rye, and either oats (according to Rashi) or two-rowed barley (according to Rambam's interpretation of Mishnah Kilayim 1:1; Yerushalmi Challah 1:1). (Wheat and spelt are both in the genus Triticum and anything else in the genus is likewise forbidden. Oat-grain is practically gluten-free and belongs to a different tribe than wheat, spelt, rye and barley.) Millet and teff are borderline; it takes a few days for them to rise. Dough made from the five grains is considered to start rising if it is inactive for 18 minutes from the time it gets wet; if longer elapses before it is put in the oven, it is no longer matzoh. Shmura ("watched") matzoh (Hebr. מַצָּה שְׁמוּרָה) is made from grain that has been under special supervision from the time it was harvested to ensure that there was no additional moisture.

CORN! We are the children of the corn with bc!
Oh, I knew we'd get to the bottom of this through the top! Wise Human Women we are!!!

Uhhhh, Sessna1, you need a break, or you forgot to take your other meds (not BC meds) because I really think you've lost it.
No, it wasn't pink snowball cupcakes - I never ate them - too funny looking for me.
I just finished vacuuming and I have to revert back some pages - housework is the culprit. That machine is so noisy and scares my cat. Can't be good for healthy body cells.

Sessna...WTH?? Could you repeat/clarify that please??
God Bless us one and all!

No, Sis. patoo, I really am very clearly thinking. Be nice - be nice.
Run this one by your logic - ethanol. Made from corn, ethanol. Why in the world would the government back using a food source as fuel if using that food source/staple would possibly cause starvation? Because, if you can't eat it, you should be burning it. If you shouldn't eat it - why not burn it? What if the word gets out and people refuse to buy or eat it? You better have a back-up use for all that corn...
Plants and animals have been genetically engineered, manipulated, etc., and we are eating them daily.
Matzoh isn't supposed to be made out of corn. Why not? Ask yourself. Orthodox Jews don't eat pork - ask yourself why.
Corn syrup sweeteners are in everything. If you wanted to spread out a plague to hit as many people as possible, wouldn't you have to be able to get it into everything - and it must be able to touch off the dynamite in a lot of people to affect them. Ask yourself - for a child to get cancer, so young, too young, didn't he have to be predisposed by the genetic make-up of his parents - or what his parents ate/their environment? and/or wasn't he himself introduced to the 'danger' ASAP in his own nutritional intake?
One more point, y'all go Google this one yourself. Check out the countries and races that have the highest and lowest incidents of cancer. Once you migrate to a country that has a higher rate, you are affected by that adopted country's rate. Why? You're eating their food, dear. You are eating their native, traditional, indigenous foodstuffs. You're in their enviornment, with their air and water.
Ooops. This is supposed to be straight irony, humor, and good natured jostling, isn't it?
Very well. Never mind.
Never mind, Sis. patoo.

Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels. Mutant corn kernels.
I loved that!

Sessna, you're welcome to come to my Passover seder this year!
Well,, you're right about matza not being made out of corn - but Passover (when we eat matza) is only 1 week long.
So.............maybe it is the corn - or the popcorn anyway.

Leah, come to think of it, I have never seen corn in any Jewish dish, nor in any food in Israel. More than that, I never saw it in Egypt (granted was only there a week) or on the menu at any middle eastern type restaurant.
A lot was made of how the native people offered corn to the pilgrims who landed on Plymouth Rock, and Europeans mostly still consider corn as fit only for animal feed.
Montignac's book, Dine Out and Lose Weight, analyzed why it was that French people could drink wine, eat fatty cheeses and chocolate but still have no weight problems or cardiac problems or diabetes- at least on the scale we have in the US. Montignac's theory later morphed into the "French Diet" which has been twisted into the Atkins diet and every diet these days refers to "glycemic values", which will be familiar to diabetics. The point being that fat only stays in the body if it is bound to carbohydrates, and the higher the glycemic value of a food the less of it is required to capture the fat and stick it in your arteries and anywhere else it can stuff it inside your body. Corn and potatoes have the highest glycemic values, along with sugar and processed white flour. This is why farmers feed potatoes and corn to their livestock to fatten them up as fast as possible and why eating most food in America: Sugar- its in all the food, look at the labels, you'd be surprised. Hydrogenated oils... in Canada they have a law requiring that actual sugar be used, and not replaced with "corn syrup"- with one of the highest glycemic values. In the US, our coca cola, our hershey's chocolate, has corn syrup. Cheaper. The sugar business (agrobusiness) in American is wealthier and more powerful then the oil lobbies- and much quieter.
Walter Cronkite went to work for Archer Daniels Midland when he retired. Maybe the most powerful agrobusiness (sugar). Sugar is one molecule off from cocaine. Like cocaine, it gets you a quick high and a crash when you come down, it provides NO nutritional value- human beings did not even eat sugar until 200 years ago. Corn syrup is worse than even that, and that's even more pervasive in the US. Which is why Canada has a law against it being in foods. Canadian Coca Cola and Hershey's Dark Chocolate tastes MUCH better than what we have in the US.
But Breast Cancer precedes sugar historically by centuries, and as stated above, Europeans and probably even the ancient civilizations in the Middle East didn't eat much in the way of corn (I think?... Can't recall a hieroglyphic of corn, but I could be wrong, I can't think of any Greek or Roman dish with corn?? Am I just brain farting something obvious? Falafel, Hummous, Pita, baba Ganouj, Shasklik, Shisk Kebab, Faoul Medames, Matzoh, Israeli Salad... no corn)... so with no corn and no sugar, I am guessing that they did not cause my BC.
However... I still think that shaking that Jiffy Pop over the stove plus eating the charred buttered salted kernels may have!

ladies...I am so confused...oy vay!
Was it the sesame oil??

Getting bc is a lifetime journey. First was eating the sand in my sand box (bad for the immune system, but good roughage for the bowels).Next those funny boxes in shoe stores where you could slide your feet into them and see you feet skeletons (too much radiation, migrating upward) then the big heavy felt skirt with the poodle glued onto it with the rhinestone collar (made me sweat too bad; I ran too hot all of 8th grade, and the glue off-gassed the whole time.)

Didn't I read somewhere that corn was indiginous to the US? Meaning it came from here, and then went to other parts of the world. Rice seems to be the only thing that is almost world wide.
I think I heard that no pork, along with many of the food restrictions had to do more with the fact that people in a desert land, with no way to store seafood and meats like pork, were safer not to eat things that spoil easily. Most very old religious traditions seem to have very good safety reasons. that's how religious traditions become "laws".
Kinda like no oysters in the months with no "R"---the hot months!! (howeveve, I had some last week, and they were great----and very cold)

I'm going to Passover seder at Leah_S's home! She won't make me eat corn.
Hey, corn didn't start off mutated - it got that way. Just like the rest of us. The stuff that the American Indians offered was mostly harmless.
See? Canada rations its health care, but it doesn't force feed its people corn!
The corn people deleted three of my earlier posts!!! They're gone ... gone. They are on to me!!!
... the truth is out there... trust no one... awww shucks.

Ladies, have I have enjoyed reading this thread. Can I please join? I stole a bra from my big sister (double DD's) when I was 9. I stuffed it full of tissue and wore it to school. I'm just not sure whether it was the stealing or tissue that gave me the BC.
Angel
I'm staying far, far away from mutant corn.

That's it! Getting up to early in the morning does it!

ljh58 - dogs tend to bark at vacuum cleaners. The animals have been trying to tell us something!
Get "up" in the morning? You mean you sleep the whole night through peacefully? Wow.
I know that there is more than a kernel of truth to what you say about the corn people. I must be extra careful of stalk-ers now. Germ warfare could be in the H1N1/Swine Flu vaccination for moi. I am fairly husk-y, and need to lose weight. Smooth as silk, those corn people. I'm in a maize of thought.
Sis patoo may have turned me in in her disgust. Stay strong, people.
ymb, Angel, you are welcomed to this thread. If you see the other side of the tapestry, please alert us as soon as possible. I think your sister was mortified that her jig was up, but I'm not sure that the stuffing lead to mutant cancerous cells. Stealing has been done by every last one of us - even if it was not paying for a bill that someone else forgot to send or taking G-d for granted.
We'll stick to the mutant corn kernels until further research is brought forth, if that is all right with you? I respect your opinion.

Well then mutant corn kernals it is until further thought provoking discussion shucks it away...

No, it was the polyester padding in the bra cups...no good ever came from a polyester....(or a rayon) other than less ironing, which leads me to IRONING! I knew that ironing was EVIL. The combination of the steam, the spray starch , the ironing board padding and the hunching over the board to iron did it all.0

yes, I have been partaking of the summer clams and mussels myself...
how about colorforms? maybe they gave me breast cancer
I totally never wore anything that would melt before it would burn...

IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just read this quote TONIGHT:
"You can't watch a movie without popcorn. It would be un-American".
OK, not from great literature but from a murder mystery. AND the character who said it turned out to be the murderer!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh. Maybe reading murder mysteries gave me BC?
Leah

Maybe it was because I wouldn't eat kishka?
Crap, did Agatha Christie give me BC?

The combination of burnt CORN kernels, burnt food and the smoke alarm going off was not good for those mutant bc cells either.
Sessna, stay calm, take it easy, the men in white suits are on the way but listen carefully, I want you to believe they are only coming to talk to you, not to take you away - I promise - you do believe me don't ya?
But, yes, pattibelle, must have been the polyester 'miracle' fabric!
(Shhhhhh, quiet Sessna - it's gonna be okay)
Rachel, maybe watching Alfred Hitchcock thrillers?
Sessna, dear, you okay? Don't worry, the corn kernels are not really after you.

I don't know maybe it's just a conspiracy in general...there we are eating our popcorn, reading our trashy/murder novels, sipping a TAB and someone out there decided we were having too much fun and WHAM there you are.....
Maybe there is something to all the corny conversation but I for one am enjoying the corn from the garden a little too much to go back now...OH WAIT it's too late to go back now...CORN for dinner it is!!! (really it was!!!)

Bettysgirl.....
TAB! Of course that HAD to have something to do with BC! We might as well have been drinking straight chemicals!!!! What was that other non-cola diet drink? Can't think of it...can we get chemo brain w/o having chemo? I have only taken my first 2 doses of Tomoxifen so I think it is too early to blame it on that....hmmmm........
God Bless!

Sis patoo, I am remaining calm. Do you know what the six arm restraint jacket is for? To hold down the two you have, and use four additional ones for control. Nothing can be ruled out, but everything can and should be examined.
It's the corn, stalking me. It's germ warfare. It's that drop of water in the dried corn that makes it pop when exposed to heat. It's the way corn on the cob sticks between everyone's teeth and tries to hold on and rage against the dental floss. I think I have had the longest running commentary on my submission/allegation and that's good enough for me. The word is out, the wind will carry it.
It's my final answer to what caused my bc, Meredith. I don't need to call a lifeline. That's my final answer, Regis. Tell Kelly, tell them all.

I am a "Tab" aholic, it is a damn good thing they still make it. The "other" drink, was it Fresca you were thinking of? I have joy this morning, 3 month mammo after biopsy CLEAN!!!!!!! It is a shiny day.

YAY YAY YAY PATTY BELLE YAY FOR CLEAN MAMMO YAYYYY!!!! The BEST news
betty- I think you nailed it, its having too much fun and being happy. I know I was having the most fun and happiest right before DX. Must have been it, and I guess I am an idiot because I am going to go right on having as much fun as I can.
patoo- hitchcock way too scary for me!!!! I like seeing little old ladies get the better of bad guys. I always say, I live in NYC, if I want to see something scary, I can look out the window. If i want drama, I can go visit my family. When I watch a movie, I want it to make me laugh, I want all the ends tied up with a happy ending, the guy gets the girl and the bad guy ends up in a gorilla suit. I want what I can't get in real life when I watch a movie
We are the mutant corn kernels...
