I know what did it to me. Nacho Cheese Doritos. Been eating them for years. I think I bought the first bag that was ever sold, and probably ate some the day of my mammogram (oops, hope I didn't have Dorito breath). I am still eating them
Plus, I had a major crush on Erik Estrada years ago, and I was a married woman. I'm sure that contributed to my health problems... 0 -

Maybe my house was not clean enough and the dirt or dust caused my cancer. Or maybe it was too clean and the cleaning agents caused it. ???????????

We use to call me mom Mrs. Clean. You could eat off her garage floor. I did get bc at an early age 32. Must have been all the comit, rosenthal carpet cleaner, murphy's oil soap, lysol, bleach in the laundry..........

Ah, cheetos!!!!!!!! a couple of years after dx I got this craving for them--hadn't eaten them in Years!
I even got up one night and dressed to go get a bag at 7-11. I'm talking crazy craving. I'd call dh and tell him to get me a bag on the way home---almost snatch it from him and stuff my mouth.
then I quit wanting them. I have no idea where this came from and why it went away in 6-8weeks, but I think I still have a little extra lump in my butt that may turn yellow/orange one of these days.

I grew up in Manhattan and I think I got BC from hanging out on Tar Beach. My boobs were too close to the sun. LOL!!! Thanks for the laughs, this is a great site.

OMG, I'm so glad I read this post!! I am feeling so low tonight, just ready to go to bed and read this one! It has given me a smile again! Thank you to GSG for starting it! Personally, I think its from eating those little candy waffer "flying saucers" and watching HR Puff & Stuff on an old black and white TV. Thanks for the laugh ladies!!

writting the names of a boy on a paper - yes done that
walking barefoot on asphalt- of course we did that
eating the mushrooms after Tchernobyl (and boy they were tasty chanterelles that my grandpa had picked)
Yup I am blaming them mushrooms.
oh oh do you remember the plastic granules that you could melt into a window thingie. You put them into a form and melted it in the oven and let it cool. Man that stuff stank some fierce.
But in the end, it is playing with the fake Barbie doll that gets my vote.

Here's a new one for you. I just read an article of a study that found that people who volunteered had a 44% less chance of dying within the next five years (or something like that) than those who didn't. I guess that by extrapolation that means not volunteering increases your risk of dying by a similar percentage. Talk about statistics!

Well lets see I also had the wax lips and bottle caps. I think about them every year at Halloween. Barbies dolls yup and played with them all the time. As well as probably all of the other toys that were made in China. Mom also told me God would punish me for being bad.Bonnie Bell lip sucker. Oh yes, the hair spray. I was Farah Faucet and used a lot lol. Also, wrote Mrs. on my papers at school.
What about the rest of our makeup: eye shadows the light blue to be exact, mascara, blush. Oh, it was all made by Mabeline.
Oh, I am sure we could go on and on. But does one truely know what caused the Cancer. At least we can joke about how we may have gotten it. I say mine was caused by a blocked milk gland from breast feeding to many kids and it probably isn't cancer and one year they will realize this. lol However; we got it, it is with us. One thing for sure it has made me a stronger person. I also, grew up with power lines in the back yard.
Are list is coming up with a few things in common. By the time everyone is finished we will have all done the same things.

I'm a teacher and I sure hope I havent caused any of my students to get bc.
My surgeon has a hang up with Moby Dick. I'll have to ask him if reading Moby Dick might cause some women to get bc, or teachers who make their kids read the book to get bc.
but that cant be true cause I've never read Moby Dick. LOL
Dry erase markers, gasoline, diesel, and I love the smell of fireworks on the 4th of July. mmmmmmm
And everything else that was mentioned. I also had a really good one but cant remember what it was. That darn Chemo brain again.

Were any of you a part of the Sister Study? (I finished it about 4 months before I got diagnosed. They sent me a nice, as I called it, "condolence card" when I told them.) You'll find that a lot of these are not far off from the stuff they ask about. Scary.
Although not Barbie or the Monkees. That level of inauthenticity they don't get to!

I didn't qualify for the sister study. Me and my sister were "too young" (she's 4 yrs older)....
I wrote a scathing letter (gosh this must have been two years ago when i was on chemo and mad-all those hot flashes), and of course got no response. I think the study is good, I just wish it covered women under 34.

What is the sister study? I have a younger sister.
I have another theory on what may have caused my BC. It could have been cooking with the incorrect pots and pans. Doesn't that kill parakeets?

Hi Celia,
I am guessing that the more expensive, the better for our health. I also remember hearing that if you warmed up an EMPTY non-stick pan, it killed household birds. Please do not quote me, I heard it years ago and now suffer from chemo brain. It is possible I got is switched around. Maybe having birds in the house is bad for your pots and pans.

Candy Cigarrettes! Anyone else eat them when they were growing up? I'm surprised the wax bottles weren't shaped like whiskey bottles? Geepers!
But back to barbies.....does Midge count you think? Elder sister had Barbie, so I had to settle for Midge and you know? SHE never got cancer, I DID! Somehow this is NOT fair! I should have had the barbie if I had to do this later, don't you think? At least then I could blame it on her!

Is it possibly the wrong cookware? Growing up my mom did not have expensive taste and may have cooked with carcinogenic (is that the correct word?) cookware. Hmmm
