     I love the costume Cathi!!

I'm going to be a slutty devil -- red leather corset and mini skirt, platform red leather boots, red fishnets and a red wig with devil horns.  I'll just wear the wig and regular clothes for the kiddies collecting candy.  The outfit is for a party.  :-)

Elizabeth -- you paint such a devilishly delicious pictureWink!  But inquiring minds want to know if you get much use out of your red leather corset and boots, other than on Oct. 31??????

BTW, we attended a lovely wedding this past weekend.  Ceremony took place outdoors in a heated tent (it was COLD in Toronto!) conducted by a retired Presbyterian minister, and guess which name was not mentioned once??  No prayers, no blessings, just wonderful inspiring readings and vows, all of which emphasized love, honour, respect and commitment.  Beautiful!!

That sounds wonderful lindasa and something I would be interested in, however my fiance is christian so we will probably have some sort of a mix ceremony.

Thanks konokat and I love the idea of your costume and I'm adding my vote to the how much use does that corset get besides just as a costume! lol

My husband and I actually just went to the courthouse, partly because I could not imagine me in a white dress waiting to be struck by lightning in some church! LOL I was a bridesmaid at one of my atheist friend's wedding and it was in a Catholic church because her husband-to-be is quite religious. I *really* worried about lightning then!!  Yikes!

LOL chumfry that is funny, my kids tell me that all the time. "Don't get too close to that church mom you might get struck by lightening." I grab them and say that thats ok now that I have hold of them it will pass right through me and get them instead. That sounds horrible when I think about it now. LOL

On a side note, a few years ago I had a girlfriend who is rather religious invite me to their churches christmas thing. I love the music and it was a good reason to dress up so I decided to go with them. I'm sure they thought this would convert me. The church was all decked out and everyone was all dressed up it was really nice. The music was great and I had a really lovely visit with everyone. All the place settings had one votive candle set in front of it. Through the evening everyones candles had burned down and most of them were completely out. All but mine.....

My candle was completey whole just like it had only been lit maybe a minute ago. Everyone at the table had started stairing at it and then glancing at me. I would just smile and shrug my shoulders. Inside I was laughing my hind end off at the reather nervous looks I was getting. LOL My girlfriend looked at me funny and said that was the last time she was taking me to church with her. She said it in a joking way but she never has to this day invited me back to any more church activities.

Hehehe -- My guy and I sometimes go to alternative clubs where we dress up in some out-there clothes -- interestingly there is a good mix of all ages.  Sometimes it's just dressing up at home for a change...  Luckily the corset is cut pretty high -- I don't exactly fill out one side.  ;-)

Cathi -- that is so eerie!!!

    our costumes for halloween-

my 8 year dressed as the Corpse Bride last year, this year she's doing Coraline . . I get to dress up for work with a rather good pirate outfit (my huz and I love pirates) Last year at work, I carried a treasure chest full of candy.. ARGGG!

Although I mentioned to my huz that the big excision healing scar on the top of my boob  was still obvious and my costume will show it- he thinks I should color it up with make up and fake pirate tattoos..perhaps Ill get some of those ornate henna tatts for my chest...i think its a great idea! Ill post pics afterwards!

I have recon on the 28th....shall I trick or treat in my bandages? Realistic yes, would anyone ever really know? I was gonna wear my sleazy chaps again...but surgery popped up, so no All Hallows' Eve for me :(

Sige, This surgery has me spooked. I've dreamt twice I don't wake up. If I dream it thrice around...there will be no surgery this month.

    Love to all.

I'm going in for surgery TODAY--a second mastectomy plus reconstruction (expanders).  I never thought of making my bandages part of a costume.  Hmmmm......

What kind of recon will you be getting Dawnbelle?  Hopefully, with the 2nd mast. I'll have a bit more peace of mind.  I hate being lopsided.  I'll be going in this morning with one droopy and coming out with 2 perky.

I just want all this to be OVER.

    LOL @ Madalyn

Has anyone any idea about whether or not you will be taking the H1N1 vaccine?  I thought I had seen a thread started about this awhle ago but I can't find it now.  I'm curious as to whether or not we are considered "at risk"...?

I used to work at an elementary school and take the flu shots then, but haven't since I've changed jobs.  I have "mild" asthma too...I'm seeing my GP next week and I guess I'll talk to him about it.

I work at a hospital and for us it is advised we take it. However I'm allergic to eggs so for me I can't. So I have my fingers crossed, I do take doses of that Teacher created Airborne stuff and it really does a great job along with my vitamins and lots of fluids. Plus the fact that I avoid anyone that even slightly looks or acts like they might be coming down with something. The last thing I need or any of us need is to get sick and have treatment delayed.

When I was in chemo, I wasn't sure if I should take the regular flu shot or not, but my onc was very insistent. In fact, she gave me the shot herself. So I would guess that anyone actually in treatment would be eligible for the H1N1 shot. I'm too old and healthy now to qualify! LOL

Did anyone see the Daily Show the other night?  Stewart was doing his usual spoofing of Faux News (sorry, my bias is showingTongue out) -- some Faux commentators were shown worrying about H1N1 vaccine's "safety" while others were shown worrying about "will there be enough for everybody?"  Hmmmmm!

I shall be getting my usual flu shot and will probably get the H1N1 shot as well.

I was dx'd in 2004, which was a year of flu shot shortages.  I'd been taking the flu shot for many years and there I was on the brink of chemo with no flu shot.  I was scared half to death of germs, scratches and hangnails.  I got through it all without the flu.

I was in the middle of rads when the next season for flu shots came around.  I spoke with a nurse at my onc's office to ask if it was ok for me to get a flu shot.  In her perky-to-the-point-annoying voice, she said, "I don't see why not!"  I'd already changed oncologists once during my year of treatments, and this was from the office I thought was a better choice.  I don't see why not??  I quickly ended the call, but my mind was swirling with questions like, "well, how about because I'm a cancer patient going through rads?" or "you DO know, don't you, that you work for an ONCOLOGIST??" or "do you know what oncology IS?"

I don't take flu shots anymore.  I was distrustful of doctors when I was healthy.  Now that I've seen our medical care system first hand, I trust them even less.

I had the regular flu shot, it was offered to me this month while I was at my first post-op visit at my oncologists office. Didn't think to ask about the swine flu shot as it won't be available here for a while, I'll probably be done with rads (just started today) before it's offered.

    Linda/Denali,

I hope all went well with your surgery and you have smooth sailing with those expanders. Let me know when you're up and around so we can do lunch!

I always do flu shots. I work in a germ cesspool--college student health. Had my flu shot last month, and we're waiting impatiently for our H1N1 vaccine to arrive. Seeing tons of flu in the clinic right now. I have some recon tweaking coming up--don't want to get sick before that, and don't want to risk getting my surgeon sick, not to mention a whole airplane load of people...
