I promised to share my talent so here is my favourite short prose:

    THE QUILT

The quilt lays flat and smooth on the bed in the empty room.  It is made of memories and has wrapped the past around young and old.  It is comfort - warmth from cold, a barrier from the illness within.  Its design has tales of dresses and coats that have come together to make something new.

The bed is Stripped of the quilt, the sheets, the evidence that a person had lived and died.

The room is empty of family and friends, personal effects and flowers.  A name is removed and it is just a hopsital room once more.

How can we come to this place, expecting nothing but pain and tears?  We do it to honour a life, an essence; a ribbon woven deeply into many lives but has come to its end.  Still it is held in this world by being part of others.  Yellow ribbon crossing pink; spiralling blue around lavender.  Together they create a picture; alone they are simply ribbon.

They wear dark clothing and black ribbons.  Tears track the path where life has ended.  This is not the way it should be.  Celebrate the life.  Smile with memories.  But first, allow the tears to clear away the pain so the light may shine again.

    ****************************************************************************************************************

This one.... well its as close to Beach as I get:

    FOOTPRINTS IN TIME

I  followed a path of sandy footprints.  The ocean breeze smells salty and the sunlight glares off huge white sheets, flapping on the line.  The path wound around rocks and stopped at the tide-pools.  It was an adventure, a quest of the heart.  The footprints led me to a bonfire and as the sun sets, the light glows warm, snapping sparks into the air.  I am hungry but not for food.  A joining of hands and hearts.  My friends have come, many different people, to laugh and sing with me.  It is my song, a song of tears that give way to laughter.  I have learned to live with sadness.  Now I want to dance lightly across the wind swept beach.  My feet touch the wet sand and move again before the coldness registers.  The dance is sweet, soft and glittering.  Laughing I wrap a blanket around me and lean on the friend beside me.  I am a child of time.  The beach is just a beach.  My friends are an extension of myself.  It is I who digs cold toes into soft sand and laugh into the star-filled night.

After dropping DH off at the golf course, I took our little truck in search of a sunrise. Look what I found:

Once I got there......... I started thinking of those who need an extra hug:

And then the sun eventually "peeked" ever so slightly:

And then from the other perspective:

Everyone have a great day........... love and hugs to each and all!

Edited to add that this is across our penninsula -- over on the Lake Michigan side. (About 5 miles across the tip to sunrise..... very handy in Rowley's Bay: home of Grandma's Bakery--voted best in the state!)

    Hey Spar,

I am very tired today...  I have lots to do, but it seems that I am not home very much these days.  I am either working, or going to the drs., or out with dh...

Yes, I am getting kind of tired of working at the store, but it's hard to live on dh's retirement.  It is just enough to pay the bills, but if we want to go out to dinner, or if I want something extra, I don't like to ask for money, and I don't know if we have enough for all the extra stuff I seem to want or need.   So, I'll try to keep working, but I think I'll try to work shorter hours, because I just get so tired from all the work!!

Glad to see that you are spending more time on the beach!  Good luck with dh's colonoscopy!  It is really not bad, but the prep is SO YUCKY!!

I'm praying for good news from the colonoscopy!

    Love ya,

    Harley

That along with a day old left over Quesadilla and I am a happy girl.

I know many of you have equally delish gardens and veggies to dine on so you know what

Hey Beachie kids! I am taking a moment to relax on the beach & just et you know I'm still  around---GREAT pix here! I love the way this thread slows my pulse! HAHAha

Almost half the carpet is torn up--what a nightmare this is going to be, but at least it should all be done by Fri

Got too many things going on & too much swimming around in my head to focus much--so I selfishly came & grabbed the pina colada & a breather--now I'm gone!

Hugs to A-Z. Be well & stay strong

The nearer we got to Ca the more things looked like this!

Hope everyone has had a great day so far.  I am missing Jaz, do we need to send out the beach patrol???

I got the granddaughter home safely and had to make a flower delivery to a funeral home in the town I live in for my daughter since I was driving this way anyway.  They had a HUGE wreath on the outside on the building and when I came out I pushed some of the fake flowers aside and it was made with grape vines and it was gorgous.

I am going to try and find me a new towel to lay on the beach on mine is getting a little worn from all the time I have spend on the beach

    Go to fullsize image

    found some for wings

    Go to fullsize image

Couldn't make up my mind so got a bunch and will share with everyone.

Anyway, today was a picture perfect day.  Isn't that always the way after the storm passes?  We got out for a ride today and then came home and washed windows.  Uh....hubby did most of it, lol!  I watched the Eagles game.  They won.  In a big way!!!  38-3!

It's back to work for me tomorrow.  I don't know when I'll have a chance to check in again, so ttyl!

It's already gone "cool" here. Today was only in the mid-60's. We both put on lots of layers and got the big-bike out for one of it's last hurrah's. We went to the tip of the point -- to the end of the earth. Look at the pic I took -- quite by accident:

This is roaring from the ferry dock. Look closely and you can see us in the mirror!!

I'm using DH's shoulder as a tripod -- and it worked.

Then we found some happy flowers:

Biker Jan I'm glad your O.K.!!!!!!  It's not something that happens very often in our neck of the woods though. They usually tend to not last long or are as severe like in Spars part of the country. Still Very Scary just the same though! The only tornado I remember hitting our town about the same distance from our house as yours did. That was 21 years ago. My oldest was a baby & we just made it home from the grocery store just in time when the storm hit minutes later. I'll never forget that sky, thick pea green soup color!  Where the tornado touched down we did have a death!  So your fear is very real! Mother Nature does not discriminate!

I just saw the pics on the net of the damage from yesterday. I wonder if they are gonna have school tomorrow? What a difference a day makes. It was a picture perfect day today. What I saw of it through closed eyelids! ZZZZZ! LOL! Still sleepy, I'm gonna go sit back for a while. Catch everyone Later if I have time!
