Hugs to all who need them!

Miss Shapen, my heart goes out to you and your loyal friend.

My beautiful Lab had cancer before I did, and losing her hurt worse.

I hope the news today is hopeful.

Ann, you are right, it SUCKS you can't complain about the long hours without due compensation like a vacation and then lose it if you don't use it!  Do you at the least get paid for time not used?  Sucks again, if you don't!

    Mary-Lou, I am so sorry you are dealing with the job loss, that's a big fear of mine, b/c dh has the insurance and darn if we lose his job, I'm not even sure cobra will help, b/c it's a really small trucking company :(  Sucks, and hope he finds something before the 3 months are up.  Does he keep the insurance during that time, or can cobra help?  Dh lost his in 94 after 17 years and Thank heavens for cobra while he worked another job untill insurance kicked in! {{hugs}}

Cris, oh my, sounds painful! Here's to quick healing! Ouchy!

{{{{{{{Miss S}}}}}}}, I'm so sorry about your little girl.  Old or not, it's never, ever an easy time putting an animal down, and gosh, I'm just at a loss, even though we had 2 we had for 15 years that we put down 3 years ago last month.  Just makes me sad, thinking about what you are going through, it's one of the hardest decisions of my life yet.  Keeping you in thoughts.

Miss S:  Your post made me so sad.  We had a dog for 17 years and when he became ill and we subsequently had to say goodbye, my heart was completely broken.  I still tear up thinking about it.  I'm very sorry you're both going through this.

MaryLou:  We were in the same boat.  My husband was laid off within days of my surgery.  It's such a scary and unsettling place to be.  I wish your husband much success in finding something new soon.

Rock:  Romeo was trying to win you back with that line?  What a pitiful clod.  Your response to him was just fine.

Hello and a big that sucks to anyone that needs one today.

Sue:  Wow!  I didnt realize or (remember) the lung stuff.  Sorta makes me even more upset that you didnt get the results back before the week-end.  If I were you I would be on the telephone first thing Monday morning.

Hanna:  Scanxiety?  Oh hahahahaha your posts do make me laugh.  That is so cleaver.  Im liking that quote!  I might just add that as my signature!

Traci:  OMG!  Two laughs in a row.  NicDaPicChic?  I love it - except I think with this chemobrain - I would forget it the next time I signed in.

Wish:  Im liking your idea about cleaning!

Shirley!  Ha I see you came up with that quote first.  Like you, I write down things everywhere.  Usually my hands which seems to be the easiest at the time.  Of course I then forget I did that and lose the thought as soon as I wash my hands.  You Dandelion story was incredibly amazing and a big That Sucks for ever having to go through that.  Wondering if that doctor has some problems with dandelions growing as brain cells!  OK!  Thank you for my third smile this morning.  That version of the song is so cool!

Harley:  Whoo hoo Im dancing for you.

dancingbear.gif happy dance image by mrbuttman

Rock:  Bone pain and then "I had sex with you while you were bald?"  I remember the bone pain very well.  Not good at all.  I wonder why no one ever told me about that side effect.  I think maybe they were afraid to - cause I would have be bouncing off the wall.  Im looking for the perfect shovel for your ex!  Hmmm, instead, I think I will just use my hand!

    shove.gif shove image by inetbucket

Mary-Lou:  Having to go through this stress while still in treatment sucks.  Sucks that your husband was layed off too!  This whole economy things is making me angry!

MissS:  Oh my I just started crying when I read about your dog.  Our animals are our family, and this is a big that sucks!  Hoping today you get only good reports.

Cristine: A painful, swollen, and infected up lip?  That not only sounds painful - its get a big that sucks.

Gsg:  Romeo?  hahaha that was a good one.

A big hello to all that I have missed.  Hi to you and know that Im shouting out a big that sucks for ya.

Insurance woes:  IT SUCKS-  try www.patientadvocate.org   (800) 532-5274.   Help solve Healthcare and Insurance problems.   Non Profit and helped me get new insurance even with bc diagnosis.

When I quit work when my husband became ill some yrs ago, I was able to subscribe to cobra for 18 months.  It costs  more than the payroll group plan, but much less than an individual policy and ALL benefits continued.   It may have changed now and I would get all the information you can to keep yourself covered.  once it lapses or expires -- tough shi*...   and IT SUCKS.

Job  lay off, sick poochie, pain --- GRRRRRRRR,  ouchies and more IOS.   Not much going on here except they are to put a new roof on my apartment building beginning tomorrow, so I will be "enjoying"  the pounding and smell of tar for a while.

Would someone like to come over and haul my trash to the dumpster?  This is an apartment complex with a dozen or more buildings and they think it is good for us to have to haul our trash to the dumpster way across the property...   At least the flies stay over on that side... lol.

Does anyone have sore toes?  The only shoes i can wear with any comfort are slip on sandals. the nails look ok and not lifting as I heard they can do.  Finger nails are super strong and best I have had in years.

All together now:   IT SUCKS...   Hugs,  Nancy

Nancy:  Did you get taxol?  I have tingling toes and still can't wear socks.  For some reason, I can wear pantyhose and it doesn't bother me wearing heels.  Makes no sense, but that's how it is.  My big toenails were trashed with chemo.  1 1/2 years later I still have a gel nail on my left big toe...but it's almost completely grown in.  Hopefully, next pedicure the gel nail for my toe will be history.

Having said that, my tingling is more than 90 percent better than it was right after treatment.  Hang in there.

Cristine, sorry about your lip -- ow!

DebC said she was taking the weekend off for family time -- I think she even said family fun! -- Deb, I hope we hear from you tomorrow that you had a good time!

Mary-Lou, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband getting laid off, and my fingers are really crossed for him to find something. (See, that's why I knew in my post above that I should just be glad I have a job, as I'm about to turn 56 -- but still, I think employers do have a lot of us over a barrel because they know how tight the job market is...)

Miss S, I'm so sorry your sweet little dog is going through such a hard time... (((hugs)))

Sue:  I keep forgetting to tell you I have issued you a special scanxiety cleaning pass that is good for this past scanxiety attack and all future ones.

I had an MRI on Wednesday, but was able to get the results the next day so  I didn't have to lift a finger around the house.  Cool

p.s. not sure which part I was more relieved about..the fact that i didn't have to clean or the good results.

Nancy:   My toes were sore too.  I tried everything, new shoes, no socks, no blankets covering my feet!  It sucks.  My nails didnt fall off, they peeled off slowly - but in the end they look just like they did before.  Thick and ugly without nail polish on them.

Anne:  Yep, I read the same post by DebC.  Off the computer this week-end and family fun!

gsg:  Ha, I like your way of thinking.

Congrats GSG on the clear scan and having the excuse to NOT clean!  WTG on both accounts! But tell me?  What is a gel nail?  I'm lost....in more ways than one for certain, but...here too! :D

Ladies, I'm leaving town and leaving the homefront to the kids!  I'll be gone through wed, probably, so NO IOS's allowed, K?  No cleaning, nothing bad...Just good stuff for you all! And when I get back...oh shoot...I'll have sheets to wash in prep for company friday and b/c mom is coming home with me for 2-3 days so I'll have to wash the spare bed sets, and then friday, wash them again, so mom can bunk with me in the king and sister and her S/O can take the spare....Geepers, is life so hard, I can't even do sheets?  I do have a washer and dryer for pete's sake...could be worse I ssuppose :(

Anyway...everyone halt their cleaning and /or problems till I return, K?  Of course, I'm not leaving till tonight, so you might get to put up with me for a bit longer! :D

Wish:  Gel nails are what's done at the nail salon where they glue a tip to your fingernails and then put a gel over the top of everything.  The gel hardens and you don't have to worry about them breaking, etc.

The girl who does my pedicures attached a fingernail tip to the part of the toenail that was starting to come in and coated it with the gel stuff so I can still wear sandals and open-toed shoes to work.  I just snapped a pic of it with my phone...but now I'm embarrassed to post it because I have such long ugly toes.

    Have fun on your trip!

ROFL...Okay then!  Well, I have to admit.  I hate feet!  Mine and everyone else's!  The ONLY feet I've ever loved, were my dd's when she was a little baby and later, but even now...her's are the only ones I can tolerate! I hate my own too! I wear something on my feet ALL the time!  HATE THEM!  Kind of the opposite of those with feet fetish...must be a word for it?  Maybe psycho? :(

Really?  I kind of like feet...although I hate my own.  Some women have really pretty feet and I kind of like looking at them when they are well manicured and have pretty toenail polish...but it has to be the right color.

OMG!!! I just came out of the foot closet. Surprised

Miss S.  I am so sorry about your little doggie!!  It hurts so bad when we lose one of our little fur babies!!  I am hoping and praying that you get some hopeful news!!

gsg, YEAH, great news on your scan!!

Cris, those lips sound very painful!!

Ya know, NO ONE told me that I would have those drain tubes when I had my mast., and they were just SO horrible!!  But, I think worse than any of the pain from any of my other surgeries, or even chemo, is this pain and cramps and ...still... bleeding from the DA*N  D & C!!  and now low back pain, too!  I am really sick of this!  Now I am worried that I may never stop bleeding!!

feet...  I think that some feet are SO UGLY!!  But, if they are cute and if the toes are well polished, they are very attractive!  I have this ugly growth on my baby toe, and it is SO ugly!  It isn't a fungus or anything, but the foot dr. told me that even though he filed it down last year, before my bc dx, it WILL grow back, and it did!  I was supposed to go for surgery, and it would have been my 1st surgery ever, but this bc dx happened so I just gave up trying to fix my toe.

Harley, you have drains in right now? Gawd I hate this chemo brain. I can't remember jack! Wink (gsg)

The Cowboys stunk up the place. That sucks!

I have a funny foot story. My OAOA has a thing about feet. He doesn't like to suck toes or anything....he just gets disgusted by some women's feet. For example, back in the day when I cared....I would be looking at the new Victoria's Secrect magazine and show him any outfit and say "what do you think of that" and he'd say "yuck...look at her feet". It grosses him out when toes are all messed up or they hang over the edge of the shoes, etc.

Anyway.....a long time ago, we were at his bro's bar. It was a hopping dump back when techno just started going and they were having a negli....how do you spell that? Sexy jammies.....good grief...anyway, we were sitting right at the bar and these skinny, pretty little 20 and a half  yr olds with a fake ID girls were strutting their stuff, walking/dancing on the bar, to be judged. We had to move our drinks so they wouldn't step on them. They had next to nothing on. (Back then, I was cancer free and lookin' and feelin' good so I had no problem with it....that would probably irritate me now....) Anyway...again.....after it was all over, his bro came over and said "so, what did you think of the one in the pink?" and my OAOA said (disgusted) "DID YOU SEE HER FEET??????" and his bro said "she had feet???"

I thought that was pretty funny. Smile

Gotta get back to my BK paperwork. See y'all later!

Here is our Shirley's quote and it is wonderful....

"A burden shared is half as heavy....."

Shirley, I have to tell you I think you always have a keen eye for things memorable.  Whether it's Maxine cartoons, special stories, perfect songs you post for us, or paper towel quotes....you have an amazing gift to lift us up.  Big hugs Shirley.

ps ~ this was not an officially gripey post...so here's a gripe....the thing in the middle of my washing machine - the agitator gizmo? - has broken.  It is agitating that my clothes can't agitate.  And that's my gripe.  Also, I don't know why this is slanted....

I'm sitting here LMAO!  You girls are too much!

Hannah, I believe "BK" stands for "bankrupt."  But, what does OAOA mean?  I'm sure it means something about Traci's ex.

My dh bought those paper napkins.  I just read them. LOL

BTW, a couple of months ago my dh painted my toenails.  HE DIDN'T HAVE HIS READING GLASSES ON!  Besides, I can't see them anyway because I'm nearsighted and farsighted!  He felt bad because one time I asked him to paint my toenails when I was in chemo.  He didn't.  So, now he's made up for it.  I was in the den griping as I was trying to paint my toes complaining that my belly was in the way.  Oh, that's probably why I can't see my toes...my belly!

Okay, now I'm going to read and try to respond to other people besides Hanna who ALWAYS cracks me up.  I love this thread!  Thanks, Traci, for starting it.  And thanks, Patrice, for starting yours too.  I've been to damned lazy to post over there.  Can't get my act together.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW.....What a beautiful world....

Rock, I'm sorry about the owies!  I remember some pain from the Taxol.  Even felt like I was going to start my period.  I knew that wasn't happening.

I used to be so stupid (well, I still am).  When I was a young woman I used to think I'd miss my period because that meant I wouldn't be able to make babies anymore, or maybe it was I wouldn't feel as womanly, or maybe it was I was realized once my period stopped I'D BE GETTING OLD!  I do not miss my period!

As far as your SO, I can't believe he said that to you.  Here is a song just for him.  I wish you could somehow put this on his cell ring tone!  That would be a hoot!  I won't tell you what the song is (you may be too young to remember..I'm ancient!).

Traci -- "She had feet?" Brilliant.

Shirley -- Ah yes. I remember singing it as a kid completely unselfconsciously and without any idea of what we were REALLY singing. (I'm not even sure the grownups in my life were aware...)

Hanna -- I am in agreement with your son on his Bow Wow point.  But as someone who grew up on a farm outside the middle of nowhere outside a town of 500... let me suggest that while it is true, full-grown hogs really don't oink, piglets kinda DO go oink. The thing is you gotta produce the oink in the back of your throat to make it sound real. If folks don't mind a little unsolicited Oink 101:  pretend you are going to say "nnnnnnnnn"  and then say "oink oink oink" (or really "nk nk nk") as far back in your throat as you can instead -- see?  It's a far more authentic sound than is usually rendered.

I confess, half the reason I posted this was imagining all of us oinking en masse.  Also, sometimes a little spontaneous oinking helps reduce feelings of agitation. (Dag, but I'm sophisticated.)

A Burden is lighter when shared with a friend..... this is so true. My sweet little doggie died just after noon. The vet called and said she went into respiratory failure and died. Thank you all for your kind words and good wishes.

I'm glad she pretty much lived til she died. We had no idea she had heart problems. She had a good life. She loved us so much and knew we loved her. She did not lie around sick for weeks waiting to die. I'm heartbroken, but I'll be okay.

I don't know if dogs go to heaven, but I know the Bible speaks of us riding on horses after we're there. Who knows? I may see her again. If I don't, I know that's okay, too.

Thanks for being here and for caring. That does make the burden lighter! I love you guys.

    Traci

No, I don't have drains NOW, I am just saying that of ALL my surgeries, and ALL the pain I had, I think this D & C pain is FAR worse than any of the other pains from surgeries I have EVER had!!   I still think if he had taken all these reproductive parts OUT of me, even though I'd be in pain, at least I wouldn't have to worry about these freakin' polyps GROWING BACK again!!   Stupid drs..... Stupid MEN!!    DAMN Tamoxifen causes POLYPS!!  They will just grow back, I know they will.  I told that A**hole dr. that I would do this surgery, but I WON'T DO IT AGAIN!!  It hurt TOO much!   Now I still can't go for a walk or a run, because... I will bleed again!!  That was part of my problem before he went in there and scraped me out, causing me pain, and making me bleed even more!

Hanna,  The surgeon "trimmed back the poylps..."  WTF?  I thought this A**hole dr. was supposed to take OUT these freakin' polyps, not trim them back!!   I didn't ask him to 'trim them back...' I told him to TAKE THEM OUT!

Hanna, your clothes washer is broken, and the agitator won't 'agitate'?  That sucks!  My clothes washer is TOO SMALL!  But at least the agitator works!!  Hope you can get it fixed!

    Shirley,

I used to feel like less of a woman, because I didn't have 'normal' periods every month like normal women.  I was a 'freak'.  I'd have a period every month, like normal, for about six months.  Then NOTHING.   Now I am used to the idea that I am just a freak, I guess I got over it.

That is great that your dh polished your toenails!!  Mine doesn't like to polish my nails.

Sorry, I guess I'm just in a bad mood, and feeling sorry for myself.

Hope everyone has a better day than I have been having, with very few IOS!!

So, Harley, you're coming to town Sept. 5?  What time is your appointment?  Is hubby going with you?  If you haven't finished bleeding when you go back make sure you through the RAG at him!  Whether it's a tube or a cotton pad!  Best part of the whole process is B9!

Wish, LOL about "Brazilian."  I just received and email the other day from a guy (YES, A GUY!) about the "Brazilian" do.  LOL  I "met" him a loooonnngggg time on a different forum that has now been taken down.  He taught me to be tough when posting on forums!  He used to pick me apart.  I told him that he used to almost bring me to tears.  That made him feel bad.  No, I'm not a Jane Edwards..no cheating...he's happy and has a great wife, bunches of kids, and even more bunches of gks AND he lives in Florida!  Plus, I'm sorta happily married. LOL  I don't think I could find anyone to put up with me.  We're going to miss you while you are gone!

MissS, I'm so sorry about your little dog.  I know exactly what you are going through.  It's heartbreaking.  Our baby was 16 years old when I finally had to make that decision.  Her breathing was terrible.  She had a collapsed trachea for years.  Her breathing was horrible plus she could not walk sometimes.  We had to pick her up and sometimes she couldn't even stand.  This all was happening before and during treatment.  I had my mast and then was doing radiation when I (I say "I" because dh knew I had to make the decision..she was a Mama's girl) finally had to do it.  I'm praying that your baby will snap out of it.  Mine had too many problems.    I just have to post these pics of her.  This was when she was still "healthy."

And here she is right after she had been to the "beauty parlor."  I still miss her.  I even cry still sometimes when I think about her.

Mary-Lou, now that really SUCKS!  I hope he can find worked soon!

Cristine, hope your mouth is better today.  We don't want your "smoocher" to be unsmoochable.

Nancy, when we visit one of our dds out of town my dh usually takes her trash out to the dumpster when we leave.  I'll be glad to send dh to you.

Wow, Patrice, a jelly toe for 1 1/2 years.  Taxol left me with minor neuropathy.  I would love my hands and feet massaged!  When the LE therapist massaged my fingers I wanted to tell her NOT TO STOP!  BTW, How's the semi-vacation going?  Heard from your son?  I heard from my dd via email the other day.  They'll be heading to Canada soon then back to Colorado (Bend).  They've named about three places they think they like.  I believe one was in Oregon (Bend?).  I told her she wouldn't want to settle there.  They have doctor's assisted suicide there.  Oregon tried to offer a man the assisted suicide OR hospice instead of chemo.  He applied to the state for it and was, instead, mailed this lovely letter.  After going public with it they gave him chemo.  So happy that you got your MRI results quickly.  Tests are hell to wait for!  I was thinking the same thing before you "came out of the closet."  LOL  I was going to ask you, but you answered.  We will not tell hubby.

Hanna, btw, you have a very bright child!  I love how kids are so sharp.  I don't know if I posted this. I can't go back and look BUT..my dd and her dh and children went on some errands last Sunday afternoon.  My gd asked, Mommy, can we go to McDonald's?  My dd answered, I don't think so, honey.  We've already had fast food once today.  My gd answered, No, Mommy.  We can go in.  Okay, so I think it's cute AND funny.  Like the time she was rubbing her mom's back while mom was sitting on the floor.  My gd was using her foot.  My dd told gd that she didn't have to do that because she did want gd to get tired..something like that.  My gd said, I wanted to give you a foot massage.  Get it?  She was massaging her mom's back with her foot!  LOL  Okay, so I think it's cute and funny and SHARP!  Darn, all these dd, gd, sil, dh, gs, etc., enough to make me get dizzy.  Oh, about your washing machine,  My df's(there's another one..just put my brain in your washer and I'll agitate it) washer was overflowing out the pipe.  Her dh told the plumber to fix it!  Instead of buying a new one since that one is old.  So, I think they paid about $250 to fix it.  I wouldn't have called anyone to come out if my machine was so old I couldn't even remember when I bought it.

Taci, one more thing.  I woudn't suck ANYONE's toes (well I did..more like gently bit them.. my gks and my kids when they were little..I do the "ooooo, stinky feet" with my gks and they love it..don'tcha just love to hear kids giggle!).  Ewwwww..STINKY!  Too funny about the dancing and your OAOA notice feet instead of....well, whatever men notice. LOL

Well, to everybody, HAVE A GOOD'UN!  Hope I didn't forget anyone!   And here's a BIG SUCK especially for those who have to go to work tomorrow!  And have kids at home..or are they back in school?

    Shirley
