LuAnn I would also make sure that the house was not left empty while you go to see your grandkids. When my grandparents passed away, we made sure that someone (good friend)stayed at the house during the funerals because there had been cases of break-ins at houses in that area that were left empty during funerals. I am not trying to worry you but as Trish said you need to protect yourself.

Traci - I have had many white Christmases.  With the 12+ inches of snow falling now, it looks like my little town will have a white Christmas this year, too, but I'm flying to Virginia on Wednesday to spend Christmas with my boys.  I don't know yet how that's going to happen since my dh just spent $760 to get his truck fixed, but I just have to trust God to make it happen.

OMG!!!!!!!! I am so pissed right now I can't see straight. After less than 2 hours sleep last night (thank you, pre-chemo steroids) and a panicked call  from dh saying his stalker nurse called and said a "bunch of kids" at the high school had been (alcohol) poisoned and taken to the hospital (which, btw, was not true--was 3 kids at the junior high my kids don't go to. but, anyway...) and countless interruptions whilst trying to grab a nap so I can function this afternoon......I decided to check in with dh by phone. HE HAS BEEN TERMINATED. It sounds like that was the plan all along. They didn't even let him work yesterday because he had "too many hours', but they let him come in today and fix some crap some shit-for-brains screwed up AND THEN THEY CALLED HIM INTO THE OFFICE TO FIRE HIM. Merry f#*$&# Christmas.  They make him park in a neighboring town and drive a big rig into the plant, so they had him gather up his  crap and the other driver is taking him to his car. Said other driver will be fired when he get back! This is a friend of ours and dh is not allowed to tell him! Funny how they had him install nearly 1/2 million dollars worth of machinery this month and now, supposedly, they're firing all but his boss and 5 temps.  We found out this week that they're self-insured, so that surely has to be a big reason dh was fired.  He IS his department, so it's not like there's anyone else there that can do it.  SHIT.  At least they could have let him work yesterday so he could spend time at the unemployment office today.

Oh, and the icing on the cake is that the frickin mortgage company is now claiming after several weeks and 2 separate occassions of us faxing the paperwork for a workout...they're claiming they only got our tax returns.  WE WAITED A FRICKIN WEEK FOR THEM TO CALL BACK AND THIS IS WHAT THEY TELL US?  Well, it's not going to help much now because they'll surely want to have a proof of income.

So here's to a jobless, homeless, insurance-less new frickin year. JOY JOY JOY

Sorry y'all.  That sucks to all who need it.

Jane, hope you get there to see your boys!  SUX with the car problems, been there :(  Just keep on trusting dear!

My SOI, the snow is so deep pretty when no one has been through to plow or walk in it :)

My IOS, the snow is so deep and in order to get to work tonight, I'll have shovel said snow at least a foot deep with 2-3 foot drifts at least enough to get out my door and into the car and then enough to get the CAR out of the drive into the street!  I'm NOT in northern Michigan and did NOT expecet these many storms before WINTER was here! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh CRAP Diane!  I'm so worried that's going to be the CHRISTMAS gift for DH and some we know also.  Sweetie, I know here in Michigan, they can file for unemployment from home, have you looked into that?  Sh*T is RIGHT!  JUST CRAPPY Of them to do that and then make dh keep their dirty little secret too?  What SCUMS!  THEY could have NOT told him that, how stupid they did!

Keeping you in thoughts and many prayers that things turn around for you both very quickly!  SHOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wish,

We live in a tiny little town and he has to file at our local office. My head is just spinning. I guess we need to start asking around for packing boxes.  The F#($@^% mortgage "specialist" told us to QUIT PAYING OUR MORTGAGE WHILE THEY WERE WORKING WITH US, so now it is approaching 4 months behind and there is no frickin way we can catch that up.  We are majorly screwed. Just what I need to be doing during all this cold/flu crap is sit at the frickin NASTYASS social services office all frickin day to try and convince them to give me insurance.

You know, the stupid thing is I was feeling so POSITIVE last night that this was all going to work out.  It's honestly pretty hard to discourage me, but I'm there.  I might just need a shovel crew, but this time just to dig me out.  :(

Oh, Diane......this is really the suckiest of the suckage.  I send many, many hugs, prayers, & righteous indignation about the state of our economy after jerks like Madoff get away with ripping off people's life savings for years, & people like you & your husband are just trying to get by.  Please let us know how you are over these next few days.  Maybe we need to start a fund for your family on Paypal.  I can set it up & make the first donation while I'm at it.  I know it won't fix everything for you, but I know your friends here would want to help you, especially at this time of year.

Diane, so sorry to hear about the crappy turn of events! I'd help Bonnie with the pile of money if I had it as well, but I'd be happy to contribute to the fund Kathi is trying to start. I just feel so bad right now. Sorry you got the news like you did...

It may be hard, but do try to have a Merry Christmas, K? Know that we are thinking of you and sending warm hugs, smiles and prayers your way.

That is such a nice idea you guys.  Luann already had some ladies get together and they are sending me $ for the boys' Christmas. I'm sure there are a lot more people than me who need help, though.  It's really hard to be on this end of it, sort of wondering if accepting help for me is depriving someone else who needs it more. I dunno...I can't explain it. Yes, $ would help but I fear the amount at this point is so out of reach that it's not worth trying.

I guess I'm not making much sense. I'm going to go veg out a while and try to catch up on lost sleep.

You guys are just AWESOME in the truest sense of the word.  Damn shame that we're all so far apart from one another.  Maybe that's why we all got cancer....so we'd get a chance to meet.  I can tell you all that I've never, ever met a kinder, funnier, smarter, and just plain COOLER bunch of gals than you all! I know that not a single one of you deserves even a fraction of the IOS we all post about here.  Sure wish I had a magic wand.

I just want to say that there are WAY too many IOS's, and it JUST SUXS!

Just an update on my headaches...  I have a sinus infection!  I saw my primary care dr. today, and he gave me a Rx for some kind of anti biotic, but now I can't get the Rx filled, because the computer is down at the CVS, for my insurance, and they can't get in.  I feel HORRIBLE!, and I just wanted my Rx back, because I just KNOW that they are gonna lose it, or something, and I'll NEVER get it filled now!!

{{Harley}| I've been fighting a sinus infection since I had bronchitis a couple weeks ago.  I blow my nose and my ears fill and I get so dizzy! I hate sinus troubles.  Haven't had that since I did childcare 10 years ago!  UGH!  HOrrible feeling and I know it's progressing, b/c I am starting to cough again. BIG THAT SUX TO YOU :(

GOSH DARNED CRAPPY WHITE SH*T!  I get 10 feet to the road and the grader comes by again!  Now I've 3 layers of about 14 inches interspersed with 3 layers of grater dirt/snow/mud/ice and what not!  I'll never get out of here. I'm so out breath, I'm ready for bed again! OMG!  WHAT A JOB!  All for a few hours work too! :(  Wish I had a home bound job ;(

Oh, 10 FEET of SNOW just SUCKS!!  Sinus infections SUCK, too!  Dear, you aren't going out in the snow, and shoveling, and trying to go to work, while you are feeling so crappy, are you?  You need to just stay at home, and put your feet up, and rest, with a cup of eggnog or something  to warm you, like mulled wine or something.

ROLF  Harley, thank you so much for that laugh, I needed it! :)

I meant that I have 10 more feet of length before I get to the road.  We only got about a foot or so, but the plows have gone through 3 times, throwing road snow/junk onto the 12 inches I had already and now it's so packed it take 3 shovelfull to get to the pavement for each foot of linear space :(  I HATE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HA~  Stay home!  You really are from the south now aren't you? :)  Even the colleges don't always close with this type of weather.  My back is killing me :(

(((Diane))) that sucks like nobody's business.

I wish there was something I could do.  This economy is hell.

Harley - Hope you get the drugs. Can you do a nasal irrigation?  That helps my husband (who has had major sinus issues).  He is also on a daily nasal spray which has cut his infection rate to zero.

Made it to work, but I see that there is a bus hanging over the side of the freeway - the side of the freeway that I am supposed to travel on later this afternoon. A couple of bus drivers are having major IOS.

    Big hugs Harley.

Wish, shoveling snow is hard word! I might be shooting at the driver plowing me back under as soon as I finish shoveling!

Harley, maybe you can get your doc to call in the RX somewhere for you. Hope you get it filled soon.

Diane, this is sooooooo not what I was expecting for you guys. How dreadfully terrible. I hope that somehow things will workout in a better way than it's looking now! I agree with you about how wonderful all the BC gals are here. I've never met a more compassionate, caring group of women.

    Love to all,

Okay, ladies, here's the deal so far on helping out Diane.  I've got a business account with Paypal, which is probably the best & easiest thing to use to do this because no one needs a Paypal account themselves to send a donation & you can use a credit card if you want & make a secure payment online.  I'm going to set up a webpage you can visit & maybe even a separate forum thread with the link on it.  And Diane, I'll probably PM you sometime tonight or tomorrow at the latest.  So, give me a little time & I'll get back to you all with the details.

Diane, I know we might not be able to save your house, but for one thing, you never know.  And for another, don't think for one second that helping you means not helping someone else.  Besides which, as we all know very well here, help takes all forms, tangible & intangible, and this is just an opportunity for us to reach out to one of our number in a more tangible way.

Gotta go for now.  I'll post an update as soon as I can.

Thank You Kathi for setting this up. I have a paypal account, but haven't used it eons.  I get updates and what not, but...I'm sure it's still open, if not I know it's a secure site to do deposits with.  Let us know more when you are ready.

Diane, helping you is helping us by allowing us to feel we are able to do this little thing when you need it.  Wrap your arms around you and give yourself a tight {{hug}} from me, K?  We do care :)

Diane -- that so sucks! I just wanted to say that many of the banks are so backed up on processing forclosures that you may not be moved out for quite a while. Around here (southern California) people are living in houses without making payments for up to a year! So while being prepared is not a bad thing, you probably don't have to pack up the house before Christmas. Frown

    Traci,

Merry Christmas!  Have a great time in Colorado!!!  Enjoy your WHITE CHRISTMAS!  They ARE magical!   While I lived in Maryland, we almost NEVER had a WHITE CHRISTMAS!!!

    ((((DIANE))))

I am SO sorry for all you are going through, and at CHRISTMAS, too!  Sending (((HUGS))) your way, and remember you are in my prayers, dear.  Love ya!

    Wish,

I read that wrong....  DUH!!  You are right... even though I have only lived here in NC for TWO years, I feel like I have lived here all my life!  I wouldn't go and shovel out of that snow, and get blocked back into my driveway by a snowplow, and shovel out AGAIN, just to go in to work, when I was feeling crappy, and fixin' to get a sinus infection, like you are, dear!  I WISH you could stay at home and rest.
When I lived in Maryland, we had one very nasty winter, when EVERY week, it seemed we were getting hit with these nasy ice storms, and every weekend, I would take an ice pick or some sort of pointy tool, and clear out all the ice from around the car, so that I could go to work the next week.  At the end of the winter, sometime in March, I had just had enough.  I was feeling like I was getting a sinus infection, so I just called my boss and told him that I wouldn't be in because I was SICK!   (I was SICK of all that ice!!!)
