    Oh, the suckiness continues!!

Sarah, I don't know how you kept from telling that woman off, when she called you!

Hi Bonnie!!    Sorry to hear that you may be having se's from your bc tx.  It SUX!  But, I'm glad that you had something to help you to sleep.

    Traci,

I agree completely!  Whenever I hear others complain about problems they are having with their children, I am glad I couldn't have children.  Usually, it isn't their children who cause the problem, it's other parents...

    Sharon,

Sorry for the scare that sent you to the ER!  I hope your heart doesn't act up again!  That is so scary!

    Wish,

I think that a WHITE CHRISTMAS is WAY OVER RATED!!  I always say, 'You don't have to SHOVEL RAIN!!'

I have an IOS to report:

On Monday, I went to the hospital, Human Resources, to inquire about a job.  Well, I PUSHED the door open and there was a woman on the other side of the door, trying to get out, when I was trying to get in.  I don't remember really banging my head on the door, but later that night, I had a HORRENDOUS headache!  When I bend over, OH! the pain! , and my nose hurts, too!  So I've been taking THREE Motrin, a few times a day.  But, the headache comes back, even if it goes away for awhile after I take the Motrin.  So now, I am getting worried that it's....       well, you know...   I am afraid to even type it.

Good to see you, Traci! Sarah, you should get the "Most Patient Patient of the Year" award for not even hanging up on your "friend."

Nancy, glad you are home and healing. Sharon, heart stuff is scary! Glad all was well and perhaps it is just a one-time thing...

Bonnie - not sure if you are on Tamoxifen or not, but I developed weird itchy skin less than a year after I started taking it. Itched so bad, I would break the skin scratching. None of the OTC anti-itch meds helped. My primary doc gave me a prescription that helped, but I was in agony for too long. My onc thought I was crazy when I showed her the welts from scratching. She said that in all her years of experience (all 15 of them), she'd never seen anyone have such a reaction to Tamoxifen, so it just couldn't have been that causing the issues. That was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back with her; I found a new onc a few days later, lol. I've since heard from a few women on the board who've had the same thing happen; one concluded that it may not be the medication, but the binder different companies use to make the pill that causes the itching. Hope you get some relief soon...

Sending hugs your way, LuAnn. Waving "Hello" to you, Nicki. Sending a hearty "That sucks!" to all who need it today...

Edited to add: Harley, perhaps you have a concussion from being hit by the door. It probably isn't the other thing as you may well have had issues before you got hit. (seems like we were posting at the same time)...

    Nancy,

I am glad to see that you are home after your surgery, and that you are healing well.  Sending GENTLE HUGS your way!!

    Felicia,

Thanks!  I sure hope I have a concussion!   (Boy, does that ever sound funny!)  After my bc dx and tx, I haven't been getting too many headaches, but BEFORE bc, I used to get HEADACHES ALL THE TIME!  and they were pretty bad, too!

That is strange, about your itchy skin as an se from Tamoxifen!   I saw my onc on Friday, and I told him that I had a strange rash on my chest, just under the bra line.  He said "I wouldn't call that a rash!"  because by the time he saw it, it was healing up.  BUT, on Sunday, I went for a long walk, and I had on a sports bra, and later, when I took off the bra, I noticed that the RASH was back, and it was WORSE than it has ever been!  It is itchy, and sore!  It hurts!  I have been trying to put anti biotic ointment on it and cover it with a bandage.  I just finally bought some larger band aids, because the gauze bandages needed tape to hold them on, and I was really breaking out worse from the tape!

Anywhoo, Hope everyone has a very HAPPY HOLIDAY!!

    Harley

Aw, jeez!  I don't get to answer for a few days & then I can't catch up!

I see that as usual there is no shortage of stupid, rude, uncaring, sucky people lurking.  I've got TWO snow shovels, ladies, ready for our snowstorm tomorrow plus anybody who needs a visit from the B#TCH Squad, that "horde of nearly bald, assymmetrical women," to quote Sue, who will come to the aid of any forum sister & her loved ones to drive the suckage-bearers away.

    HUGZ to ALL!

Sarah, you mention you didn't know what to say to the tattletale mom....I think I'd start off saying how maybe your dd is being so badly emotionally affected by her dd's BIG mouth that she (your dd) is just trying to defend herself from such emotional abuse and dealing with it as many 10 years would.  What an @rse of a mother!  :( Sorry you are dealing with her while getting txs :(

Bonnie?  Are you post-meno?  I know that that it too can cause itchy, dry skin.  Especially so when it happens b/c of tx or sx :(  Hope you get relief tomorrow when you see the onco!

{{HARLEY}} for goodness sakes girl, get thee to the hospital and get it checked out!  You may have a broken nose or facial bone from the incident.  I think I'd go to the hospital you were at that day and explain HOW it happened, so you get good care! :(

I'm praying the snow skips us, b/c as usually, dh is gone and I got called in to work tomorrow night!  Oh great! I'll be parking the car nose out tonight in anticipation of the 10+ inches tonight so I can get a running start up and out of the drivewary for work. Hopefully the plows don't come by and plow me out while I'm at work :(

Sarah, I don't post here too often but your story just really seemed to chap my a$$.  I hope you don't dwell too much on this. I am sorry this world is filled with such ignorant people.  The child needs to be punished, and the mother possibly knocked straight to the side of the head with a blunt object (shovel comes to mind).  I'm sorry.  Try to get past this the best way you can without causing any more mental anguish to yourself or your daughter...Hugs to you....HunkyD

OIS - I went to onco appt, usually dont get to actually see my doc but another doc under him.  But today, he showed up.  And I had all my questions neatly spelled out in a list and he just investigated each as they came up and gave me an answer or direction on it.  I was happy with just that.

    1)  Lump on mastectomy scar, noticed first in the shower 2 days ago.

    2) saport is going to be re-installed.

    3)  Im  getting into another quilting blanket.... its a here comes santa quilt.  It is soft and right now the cat is proving that it is soft and cuddly,

    4)  Sleepin all day and passing out at the hospital.

Doc says that back and hip pain caused by bone pain not touched by pain meds, makes it worse and makes me dopey.

So I get CT scan and possibly radiation to fix the problem.

Thanks all, see you soon (in my dreams!).

    Well, ICK, dream!  THAT SUCKS.

My hip/back pain doesn't respond well to the "heavy duty" pain meds, but WILL ease off some with ALEEVE (NAPROXEN SODIUM) or sometimes IBUPROFEN.  Both of those are contraindicated with AVASTIN because of the bleeding problems, but my onc tells me that my blood work, age, and overall health despite the cancer mean that I can take them occasionally.  Anything that helps with inflammation seems to help my pain; maybe you could try something like that?  I know how rotten it is to have to choose between the pain and being so strung out (and STILL in pain)!

    Sharon:

I have a similar problem; it was kind of terrifying the first 37 or 38 times it happened. For what it's worth, when one's heart starts to race like that, it sometimes can be stopped by "straining" or "bearing down" (kind of like you're trying to go to the bathroom).

Sarah:  What sprang to my mind was "Ya know, I've got about 113 things on my list of things to worry about right now and I gotta say, the behavior of a bunch of school kids -- my own or anybody else's -- is not one of them.  Thank you for understanding  Buh-bye." **Click**

THAT SUCKS for all with prescription woes and family strife and rashes.

My IOS is that I've got way too much to do before I leave the country on jan 12th, I don't have anyone lined up to sublet my apartment yet, I have a big report due, and I've got a colonoscopy lined up for Tuesday. I did ask two girlfriends to come on the 28th to help me get my apartment ready.

My SOI is that someone sent me a box of homemade fudge. That was so damned nice of them.

Breathing in, breathing out. Breathing in, breathing out.

Diane has a good idea, ask you onco about alleve....that's the one my onco suggest for bone pain, but then I don't have mets, so that's probably why for me :(  Hope you can find something that works soon!

ROCK!  Hope you find a sublet and soon!  Maybe when you start moving things out, someone will notice and mention they know someone?  Have you talked to your neighbors about anyone they might know that needs a sublease?  Perhaps a grad student for the remainder of your lease?

A big "THAT SUCKS!" to everyone that needs it.

Sarah - why do some people feel the need to resolve childrens' problems - especially when your child isn't involved??!!  One daughter had issues with two girls, one in particular. The only conversation I had was with her teacher, to make sure that there wasn't something going on at school. Kids' problems = kids' resolutions. Too often, the parent who complains has the obnoxious child. I admire your resolve.

One of my girls has skin issues on legs, torso, and occasionally arms with some bad itching. The dermatologist recommended Cereve cream.  I always end up with a cortisone cream to stop me peeling/scratching the skin off my face (obviously hereditary), but if Im not careful, the skin gets too thin.

Miscellaneous pains are just that...pains. Nothing worse. Can't be.

My IOS/SOI. Snowed like crazy here in Seattle.  School was cancelled Wednesday due to the 'threat' of snow. Didn't start till 5pm...grrr. Woke up this morning to a blanket of white. School called again.  Stayed home from work - the roads were unreal.  Now, I know some of you flatlanders will say we're wimps, but you haven't seen anything til you've seen snow in Seattle.  Too many hills. Snow comes down sticks to the road. Melts a bit. Freezes up.  Becomes compact snow and ice.  Did I mention the hills?  Oh, and the bridges and overpasses freeze. Solid sheets of ice. A snow like this maybe once per year (we've had some years with no snow at all).  There are some plows and sanding trucks, but not enough.  This will wipe out emergency road budgets for just about all the cities/towns/counties in the area for the year.

Went up to mom's, had tea, wrote a few Christmas cards, took #2 daughter to her friend's to go sledding, back to mom's, had potato-leek soup and a roast beef sandwich. Went home. Told the folks at work that I'd bake cookies & took requests.

Looks like I and many of my co-workers will be at home tomorrow, too, unless something completely unexpected happens.  Anyone want a cookie?  Peanut butter, chocolate refrigerator cookies, haystacks, shortbread (2 kinds), chunky, chewy blondies. Take your pick...all great with coffee or tea.  Laughing

Apparently the wrapping fairies are stuck in the snow as well, so off I go to wrap Christmas presents.

OOOH - great news about Alaska Deb - Gina/NoSurrender actually talked to her.

    NO SUCKINESS. thank you.

    WhaSux!

Big hugs for all who keep tripping over the morons populating our world!!! Prayers for those in pain.

Life has been perking right along for me until this evening--was coming down the stairs & felt an unholy pain in my thigh similar to when the bone broke last year! I was paralysed! There has been No trauma, I have not over done it! there is no apparent explanation--I stopped sis & dh from hauling me to the ER & it eased off-obviously NOT another break, tho I truly thought it might......so now I wonder WTF!!!! I have 2 app'ts at the clinic tomorrow so may see what they can tell me IF the forecast of 8-12" of snow doesn't shut down the clinic--oh & BTW--dh's Christmas party that I worked so hard on is SUPPOSED to be tomorrow nite, but if they close school no one will be in town for it!!!  SHEESH! Anyone want wrapping paper table runners & hand made candle rings for 6 tables????? Custom made!!!!!!!! LOL

THAT SUX for all who need it-be well & stay strong

It's official the world has gone insane!  I keep reading and there is to much suckiness to respond.  That and I can't keep my brain involved enough to remeber who has what problem.  But the petty little school kid issue, give me a break.  I would go with what rock said but add a little "do you have a life?" comment before I did the "click"

I am super depressed DIL hasn't let me see the babies.  All I get is emails from her about what she wants of "hers", not the babies.  I have lots of the babies stuff here including bottles, bottle liners, food all kinds of stuff like that but she isn't worried about that.  Then she said something about meeting me somewhere saturday to let me see the boys a little bit.  Why can't I have them at the house where I can sit on the floor and play with them?  I think someone has her believing I can take them if she leaves them with me.  I wouldn't do that though.  Those boys lives have been messed up enough in the last week, dragging them off from their mom in the middle of moving out of their home would be stupid although I'd love to do it....  I just wish the tears would stop, this is so flippin hard!!!!  Heck my cancer is easier to deal with than not seeing my babies.  Oh yeah, did I mention it looks like I might be having a progression to top everything off!  UGH!!!!  Life sure is grand!

{{LuAnn}} I'm so sorry I'm not closer to come and let you rant to :(  You need someone close to let it out to, I'm sure!  So sorry you're even having to deal with any of this!  I hope with the season she'll find a reason to be kind to you and not use the boys are possessions :(  Perhaps an email asking what you should do with the boys stuff is in order. Get her response in writing that way.

I hope you are keep those emails back and forth for later legal reasons if you need?

Marking my spot and a THAT SUCKS for those who need it.   A note about skin itchies:  The kind of laundry detergent you use can be one cause, espec if in creases and where bra rubs.   The soap residue is not good for the skin.   We often use more detergent than we really need.  If it says half a cup, I use 1/4 cup and my clothes are plenty clean and fresh smelling.   After all, we are not out there digging ditches or working up a full body sweat except for hot flashes...   I have super sensitive skin and am allergic to adhesive tape and scrub soap.  IF there is a question about too much soap in the wash, I put it thru another rinse cycle.   And I never, ever use fabric softener or sheets in the dryer.  It/they contain dyes, perfumes and  those also can irritate the skin.   If you want a good fabric softener, use a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle.  They suggest that for diapers (or back in the day when people used cloth diapers and washed them themselves).   Enough about that for now !!!

So sorry for those with a sucky day going on.   THAT SUCKS and the shovel is waiting for anyone who needs it.   I am not totally bald, but the site of my fuzzy head could cause a change of attitude from those who are causing the suckiness !   P.S.  I also have an ice chopper, which could cause some serious damage...     HUGS,   Nancy

Harley ~ can you say X_RAY????? I hope you are not in as much pain...but I also hope you got it checked out...

LuAnn ~ I'm so sorry about the DIL...I wish people understood there is more too a relationship when you have kids and not matter WHAT happens...you should never get to be as selfish again once they are born...

All the talk about rashes had me giggling at my own little secret - which of course I will share with you all now or I wouldn't have brought it up!

A very , very, long time ago...when I was young and innocent and living my life to please others - I was married. My husbands name was Rash....Dick Rash. Technically Richard, but calling him Dick was so much more fun. Especially once we divorced.

Ah, 20 years later it still cracks me up. Also reminds me of the time we were flying home from Italy and they were paging me:   "passenger Zimmerman traveling with a Rash, please report to the ticket counter"....I could not make this up.

Ladies!  Have you seen those new rubber keyboards that roll up to about 4 inches round?  The keys are all embedded in this rubberized material and is spill proof, and and washable! Sounds great hey?  I'm thinking of getting one, to prevent kitty spills and other thing from being spewed on the keys!  No more dust, food and kitty hair build up under the keys!  GREAT thing!

    LuAnn,

If you do decide to meet with the dil somewhere, please make sure you have someone with you (preferably with some type of recording device) and CHANGE YOUR LOCKS!!!

I don't want to scare you, but since she is only asking for HER stuff, this might (but not necessarily) a way to get you out of your house so she can get her stuff and perhaps yours.  I have had a friend that had a similar situation and it was not pretty.  I do sincerely hope that your dil is not the type of person to stupe to that level - just protect yourself!

Gentle Hugs and thinking of you,

I don't know if I will be able to get online....I will try.....but in case I don't, I want to wish all of you a very merry Christmas.

I hope with all of my heart, that you girls that are suffering physically right now from this F*ing disease can find a way to feel o.k. sometimes during the holidays. Actually, I should include those suffering mentally too. I hate this disease.

I can't wait to go to Colorado. I'm not looking forward to the 15 hour drive....but if I survive that, I will take pictures. I'm not well traveled so I am looking forward to seeing the mountains and I have never had a white Christmas.....my BIL has all but guaranteed me one this year!
