NO, ARTSEE, THAT IS NOT MY BELLY!  Mine is covered with nice, soft otter fur.  :)

That's why I explained that it's a guy's belly, so you wouldn't get all involved in trying to find the boobs.  And, I didn't take the pic, either.  I borrowed it from the Univ. Fla. website, 'cause they have a hotbed of chiggers down there.

    ...

I had to open another Firefox window so I could go back and re-read the posts on the previous page, since I'd forgotten what I wanted to say about them.  Some of the posts have left me speechless (possibly because I'm laughing so hard).

Diane, your description of the chemo episode should be written up as an essay for Mamm magazine, or maybe filmed as an episode in "Cancer Diaries."  I think I had your doctor ("Dr. T------omatoescanhavesalmonellabutoursareok"), but I fired him because he kept telling me not to worry my little head, he would do what was best for me.  (He also told me I read too much.)

Traci, I don't want to ever think about a wax job again.  Maybe even for my car.  One never knows.

RE:  Flies and mice and automobiles.  True story:  My dh and I were headed home through Atlanta one night after a weekend in the Tennessee mountains, when we heard something rustling in the cab of the truck.  I saw movement, and realized there was a mouse sitting on the dashboard, looking through the curve of the steering wheel right straight at my dh as he drove down I-285.

The mouse bolted, and we knew he was loose in the cab with us.  The only thing we had in our defense was a half-eaten bag of Lay's Sour Cream & Cheddar Potato Chips.  I opened the bag and put it on the floor.  A few minutes later, there was rustling in the bag, so I scrunched the top shut and ... voila!  Perfect "humane" mouse trap!  We stopped at the next exit and dumped the mouse near some bushes.

Half an hour later, as we were headed west out of the Atlanta metro, we heard more rustling.  No way, I'm thinking.  So I set my arm on the armrest/console to relax ... and it was wet.  Mouse pee. I put the bag of chips back on the floor, and in a few more minutes, we had another mouse.  This one made it all the way home with us (we were running out of chips by then), and he now lives in our woods.

Deb, I knew you were having nosebleeds, but I had no idea they were that bad.  So, will this go on constantly, or is there something your onco can do to help with it?  (I don't suppose nosebleeds are the worst SE you're experiencing, though.)  I'll send you hugs, if that doesn't start another nosebleed.

Yes, Artsee, I've heard about your infestation of black bears from a relative who lives in the west-central part of Wisconsin.  She can't even leave a bird feeder out anymore, because the bears tear it down to get at the seed.  They even climb the stairs and get up on her deck, outside her sliding glass door.  That would totally freak me out.  I can deal with rattlesnakes and even water moccasins, but I can't handle a bear on my back porch every night, eating the seed out of my feeders.  That's why we have raccoons and 'possums here.  That's their niche.

OMG, I've wasted another perfectly good afternoon.  At least I don't have to cook tonight (I know, that's Patrice's thread).  My dh is picking up a pizza on his way home from town.

Diane, like Traci's post I just had to stop and tell you I'M LMBO!  Girl, you can tell a story.  Some of you talented gals need to write books.  I'M SERIOUS!

Now, I don't have time to catch up on posts.  Darn, I'll be back later to finish reading.  I did see a picture of someone's rash.  Looks itchy and painful!

    Nicki,

I need one for NAUSEA, NAUSEA, NAUSEA.  Have had my Emend, Zofran and steroid this morning.  Have had dry toast and Yogi Stomach-Ease tea. Am fine as long as I don't move from my chair.  Have company coming and house is a wreck.  Sucks to be me right now.

    Sorry for everyone else's suckiness.

    Love,

Sue:  OMG you do get a big that sucks!  Sure wish you could just stay in that chair and not deal with any company today.  Entertaining while on chemo should be forbidden.  Ive heard that Ativan helps nausea.  Not sure if you should take it or, but if you have some ordered by your doctor it might be worth a try.

Shirley:  Its good to see a post from you.  I was starting to miss you.

Diane:  Your experience at the oncs office almost made me want to vomit.  Such a sucky thing to have to go through.

Well everyone, looks like I fibbed. Out of computer time and I have to go.  Will mark my spot and start from here.

Sue -THAT SUCKS!  Nausea is nasty.  One thing to ask your doc is if you can take antihistamines.  If so, give a Claratin a try.  Sometimes, when nothing else worked for my nausea a claratin would.  My doc suggested it, and low and behold....way less nausea.  I also found out it helped my bone pain.

Sue - If you haven't been to our May chemo thread in a while, I'll update you..apparently, you and I are nausea buddies today.  Where as my Zofran has worked just fine for the two previous chemos, it seems to have pooped out on me this time.  (That I'm not having a problem with).  I'm taking it as often as the bottle will allow (and sometimes more frequently).  The only other thing that seems to help is very salty stuff, which is just what I need to continue to retain every ounce of water that I'm drinking so I can also look like the beached-whale that I feel like.

I'm sorry, forgot my manners, so a big THAT SUCKS to everyone else!

Deb - I get a little of the nosebleed thing too.  I think it's also from my Flonase and chemo has just made it worse.  I use about a third of a box of Kleenex every time I blow my nose.  I also take Claritin but I haven't noticed it making a dent in this nausea.  Does help the bone pain, though.

Diane - That post belongs on Rock's thread, too.  I laughed (with you, girl) about as hard as at Traci's wax post.  But I want to know how it all ended...i'm hanging on the edge of my seat, or something like that 'cause I might fall over.  Did they ever come back from the New Dehli hospital with your meds?!

    Cristine,

I'm actually feeling better. I'm not sure why, I think a big part of it was whining enough to get my dh and son to pick up the house a little bit--it was really bothering me.  I cleaned one bathroom, and they did the rest--except I came through after them to dust and vacuum.  Getting the rooms ready to dust and vacuum is the hard part for me--the dusting and vacuuming is easy.  Anyway, the house looks better, and I had another shower, without tears this time, and I do feel better.  My Zofran stopped working and they gave me Emend.  Plus an extra day on steroids.  ASK.

Hope you feel better soon, Cris. Although I can't think of anyone I'd rather be nausea buddies with, shovelgirl. Love Ya.

Thanks, Sue - love ya, too.  I will ask about the Emend next time.  If it follows the same course, I will be fine by Monday.  If not, I'll ask then!  Glad you're feelin' better...enjoy your company.

Sue and ladies, a big ol THAT S*CKS! :(  So sorry you are messing with the pills trying to control that danged nausea!  DId the docs tell you, you can take compazine or other stuff a couple hours before the zophran or such to get you by till it's time again? Mine did.  Also, the last infusion they called in a thing called abh or some such concoction they had to create for me!  Worked great.  If you need, I'll look up what it was...Hope you doing much better tonight though! :)

Diane love.....YOU must put on your list of who to send copies of your book, b/c you have GOT to write one! :D  Best sellers list, I do believe!  What a fantastic way you write! :)

Okay, I've stopped laughing.  Sure glad my bladder wasn't full.

Just wanted to say, I read the "bad parenting" comments.  I had the mom form H&@%.  All I can say is....sad.  I no longer am angry at her.  That left years ago.  She'll be 92 this year and is in a nursing home in San Antonio.   I can NEVER remember just have a "girl to girl" talk with my mom.  She was a slave driver.  I cannot imagine not having those fun talks with my three daughters.  What my mom taught me was HOW NOT TO TREAT MY CHILDREN!  Thanks, Mom.  Okay, enough of that.

CMHarris, I can't believe someone told you that you didn't need your breasts because you weren't going to have children.  Was that some kind of sick joke?  Honestly, I think people say stupid things THINKING they're making us feel better.  They have no idea what it's like to have a breast removed.  There are a number of long lasting side effects that can happen.  For one, I have numbness that will never go away.  I have LE AND you can get that even if you don't have nodes removed.  It's not ONLY losing breasts.  For many of us we have to go through treatments that too can have long term effects.  That comment made me want to SCREAM!  And, I'm impressed that you that you even showed up at the Relay.  If I did I would have ridden the golf car both laps.

Hi, Nicki Nurse    I've been reading here and there, but seem to not have time to post much AFTER all the reading.  LOL  I'm sorry you lost your sister to ovarian cancer.  That is a terrible, terrible disease.   I hope you really enjoyed you vacation.  And you had blueberry French toast.  I'm getting hungry!

Sheila, great news about your insurance.  And WONDERFUL news about your infection healing so well!

Hey, Harley.  I already know your news.  And it's gonna turn out to be GOOD news!

Wish, glad your GYN FINALLY called you.  That message musta worked.  C'mon girl.  You know you can't wait for that "young buck" to take a peek.  JUST KIDDING!  Hopefully by the time you see him that black spot will be gone.  You sure it's not a blackhead?  Okay, enough of the kidding.

Deb, you do not sound like a broken record.  If you sound like a broken record, then the rest of us to do.  That's what this thread is for..repeating our bitches as often as we want.  I hate when we had to wait.  The best part of chemo was LEAVING!

Oh my, Cristine.  Not fun getting an infection while on vacation.  Good thing your mom had antibiotics with her.  I hope it heals soon.  Of course your post was days before my response.  I'm just trying to play catch-up.

Traci, that really sucks that you have to fly to get your blood work done.  It's bad enough just to HAVE to fly these days.

Rock, another laugh!  Yep, I'm catching up with all the posts (I think).  I've heard of people getting their stuff mixed up with toothpaste. LOL

Hi, Felicia.   At least those ants weren't in your pants like Rock's wasp.  I was in a store YEARS ago (when my youngest was just a baby).  I was wearing a hair piece.  Yes, a hair piece that fit on top your head...not a bun, but some curls.  Anyway, a bee or wasp or something got in it.  Then it fell into my top.  Then I ran to the bathroom and disrobed.  It stung like H@LL!  I don't like things that stings and that includes needles.

Sue, sooooo sorry you are having nausea.  Now, that REALLY sucks!  I was fortunate enough to not have that during chemo except for the first night.  I didn't throw up, but I wished I could have.  What a horrible feeling.  I do know that during AC chemo I mainly drank Gingerale and ate saltines.  Seems like I was craving salt.  Water and tea did not taste very good.  I don't even want to think about it!  As Nicki said, Ativan is supposed to be good for nausea.  My onc gave it to me.  HaHa!  It was good for sleep when I couldn't sleep.

What sucks...I think our tropical storm is moving in.  It's raining again.  We need the rain.  Just don't want to lose the power.  We do have a small generator.  Hmm..wonder if dh has gas and oil for it.  Oh, well.  I'm hoping it won't get that bad.

And here's a BIG SUCK to anyone else who needs it.  Ooooo, I hear rumbling.  That means two of the three cats will be scared and hiding or meowing.  Later.

I just finished posting and saw more nausea added.  I'm so sorry.

Cristine, that's funny cuz I also like salty stuff as I mentioned above.

Sue, did your onc tell you not to clean toilets and cat boxes..not saying you have a cat.  Anyway, I got out of cleaning those boxes.  However, when it came to the toilet I put on gloves, which I always do anyway, and wore a mask.  Now, I know that's probably taking it overboard, but I didn't want to get sick.  My onc always scared me into doing what he said to do.  LOL  In fact, the paper they gave me with instructions on what to do and what not to do said not to clean those things.  Also, it said not to use "whitening" toothpaste.  Of course, that was for the mouth..LOL

Okay, it's rumbling louder now.  BYE!

Shirley, it must take you forever to got through and comment on each or you have a lost your chemo fog woman!  Wow!  I'm always impressed with someones' ability to do that!  I get lost in the pages, just trying to remember where it was I read something I wanted to respond to :(

No, no blackhead.  It WAS about 3 mm, I thought 2.  He found it finally and wasn't sure what it was. Said he could do a bx or later?  Hm....Really dumb question when you've got a cancer pt in the stirrups, don't  you think doc?  So, it's in a jar, somewhere in michigan, not sure where really.  BUt hopefully I'll learn what it was BEFORE it grows again, 2009 rolls in! :D  The waiting game is just that, a game with numbers and crunchers, and no feelings for the one being led by the nose to the slaughter.....or just having come from the slaughter I should say.  Only good thing, is IF it was something, the size hole he left was much larger, so I'm sure he got clean margins either way! :D  Now if will ever fill in, is another questions! SUcky business....just sucky!

Shirley--have a cat, don't clean the box. I do have to bug my dh to clean it, because said cat is picky and will stop using it if it isn't cleaned every day or so....don't clean toilets either, but thanks for thinking of me!! I made a deal with my son and husband that they would clean toilets while I am on chemo.  We discovered in the making of this deal, that neither of them knows how to clean a toilet!! Guess I've been treating them too well, for too long. Also, I hope your power doesn't go off.  My sister lives in Southport, how far is that from you?

Wish--glad your whatever it was is in a jar.  Sorry for the dentYell...oowie. That sucks, I think you get the major suckage award today.

My company is here, my SIL, she brought me earrings!!  She's a sweetheart, we have loved each other for years but through this she has been one of the silver linings in that we never got to spend time alone before this, and we have really gotten closer. I'm grateful and blessed.

I did take the Compazine, when I took the pain meds for neulasta aches--because the pain meds can make me nauseous--why didn't I think of that?  I hate that my brain is so foggy!!!

Hope everyone has a great evening with no IOS!

Enjoy the pressie she brought.  Dh isn't one of those 'men' that buys gifts, but when I had the hair loss thing, he saw me looking at a pair as we wandered around waiting for a script of sorts, and went back after his next paycheck and go them. I've worn them since. I'm not much of a paint it up and such girl, so it's something for me to wear makeup and jewelry.  I just hope that by doing it, I can feel better about the hair and no boob, you know?  Last year this time, my hair was down to my waist :(  Just now getting used to it short and hating it really, b/c it's starting to go everywhichwaybutloose! :(

Nicki, I thought it was a  tropical depression, and we are supposed to keep getting storms and rain on and off, all day, and over night, and into the morning.  Then it's supposed to clear up and if it does, dh and I will be going to the beach.  I live in NC, about an hour away from Shirley.

Wish,  glad that you got that 'whatever' out and in a jar, to be looked at more closely.  Really, drs. are pretty dumb these days!  Of course, you want it taken out and examined!

Shirley, thanks for thinking of me.  I'm still kinda scared, and now the slight bleeding/spotting turned brown, and is now a nasty yellowish color??  WTH?  Now I am getting worried again.  Seems every day it is something different.

Sue, I'm with Shirley on that NO CLEANING the TOILET or CAT LITTER BOX, during chemo.  I was alone most of the time, because my dh was still active duty Navy, so he came down to visit every couple of weeks, or so, and during chemo, he tried to get down more often, but he DID always get down right after chemo, those first two txs, I got them on Tues., and he came down on Wed. and stayed through the weekend.  BUT, he doesn't like to clean the bathroom or the litter box, so it was ME the whole time!!

Nicki, for now it sound rather calm out there.  I guess I should turn on the weather channel to see if it's coming or going.  At least this is not a hurricane.  I hate hurricanes.  You can't find a thing at Wal Mart e.g. batteries, food, LOL...and talk about long lines.  If I hear about a hurricane coming I try to buy some things a few days before because I want to miss the crowds.  With the small generator (if it still works) we can have some lights and run a freezer.  DH wired something to the breaker box so we don't have to run cords all over the house.

Hey, Wish, I said I was getting off of her, but had to read my email.  Then I just HAD to come back and check to see if there were others still hanging around.  I've been very lazy.  Man, I hope that hole they gyn made in your you-know-what isn't too painful.  I think when you're alone you need to get air to it..put a fan by your bed and..well, I'll leave the rest up to you.  LOL  At least it's in a jar.  Hope they don't lose it!  Hair down to your waist?  How did you brush it?  It must have been beautiful!  It'll grow back.  I know, you hate people telling you that.

Sue, glad to hear you don't clean litter boxes OR toilets.  One less thing for US to have to worry about.   Southport is about an hour away if that far.  That was so sweet of your SIL to bring you a present.  I LOVE earrings.  I usually wear hoops all the time.  Never take them off unless I want to wear something else.  Good reason to take them off.  However, I have a habit of losing one of them.  And, when they're gold it ain't cheap.  I bought a pair from Sam's not long ago (cuz I lost one trying on clothes..how stupid of me) and it only cost about $119.  My dh didn't think that was cheap.  I told him it was gold.  Would he rather me buy those $12 earrings that I had to throw away.  I hope I don't lose one of these.  I did the other day when the kids left.  It feel right off my ear for no reason.  DH found it later in the Monkey Grass.

This time I'm signing off.  Let's see what I can moan about before leaving.  Oh, I know.  I need to wash my hair.  And doing my hair takes a long time...wash, dry, curling iron, then fixing the dang stuff and spraying hairspray on it so it won't come unraveled.

    BYE, BYE!

When I was at my lowest, most nauseous low I used marijuana in a special machine that you can purchase on line. If you don't have access to marijuana your doctor can give you marinol. It was the only treatment that gave me some relief from the horrible feeling.

(My onco doctor actually recommended that I smoke a j if nausea becomes a problem. I knew I liked her. Mary Jane and I, however, do not get along. Cottonmouth, dry-eye... Bleah.  P.S. I highly recommend the documentary "Super-High Me."  I found it quite funny. And not just because I was on steroids.)

Good morning and a big that sucks to all.  Yes you can blame my chemo brain as it wasnt a hurricane at all - a tropical depression that isnt supposed to develop into anything too big.  Ya see how I worry about all of you sometimes?

Shirley:  So good to hear from you.  The same thing has been happening to me lately.  Im so busy during the week - its hard to read everywhere and talk to everyone.  Sometimes I feel so out of the loop.  Yesterday was interesting because it rained here all day.  I spent my entire day on the computer - felt good catching up, but tomorrow is Monday.  Starting work earlier, getting home later makes me a very unhappy camper cause it keeps me away from my friends.  No whitening tooth paste?  Thats a new one for me.  I know I missed eating fresh vegetables and fruit.  Craved sweet things.

Wish:  going through the waiting game again sucks.  Sure hope it turns out to be nothing.

Sue:  sorta funny cause I got very close to my SIL during my treatment also.  She was an angel sent from heaven and was there for me.  She was and still is the one person I can talk to.  And she seems to understand.  When I lost my hair from chemo I loved getting earrings.  I had a color to match every outfit that I wore to work.  Glad you have the compazine and make sure to use it for that break through sucky nausea your getting.  I see Marinol being used all the time with older folks in Nursing Homes to boost their appetites.  Problem is, you will test positive on any drug test - which is a no no in your field and mine.  Even with a prescription I could see a few eyebrows raising with that one.

Harley:  Yep your right, ya know those of us in the midwest get tropical depressions and hurricanes mixed up.  Add chemo brain to the mixture - and well theres the answer.  I hear its going to affect the flow of the ocean and I bet it will be beautiful at the shores today.  Hope you have fun.

Flash:  Getting shingles just plain sucks.  And then to be told its the worse case the doctor has seen?  Almost makes ya want to slap him on the side of his head.

Rock:  Funny post.  I might just have to go get that book.  Need something funny to read.

Gotta run.  A big IOC to all.

    Rock,

    Sorry,

Sue is so stead.  Don't mean to harsh the buzz or negate the jetting peace of out or however one says it. Just have to pee in a bottle on demand, and risk lots of money taking Marinol or smoking anything.  Now, come January, when I retire, I just may feel differently!!

Wish, I know that waiting really sucks!, but I'm thinking of you and praying for benign results!  I'll probably be waiting, too, after I get my hysterectomy or WHATEVER this gyn onc thinks is the best test to find out exactly what it going on.... HUGS!

    Flash,  SHINGLES SUCK!

Sue, peeing in a bottle sucks!

Nicki,  I was getting kind of worried last night, after reading your post, because I hadn't heard any updates on the Weather Channel, and when I DID, after reading your post, it sounded like Cristobal, which is now a Tropical Storm, was heading toward the coast, and that may have ruined our beach day.  But, the sun came out this morning, and it cleared up nicely.  Cool So dh and I spent a few hours at the beach, relaxing.   It was nice!  I am a transplant, I moved to NC from Maryland, so I was still on the East coast, but not as close to the beach as we are now.  When I lived in Maryland, it was a THREE hour drive to the beach, and we usually got lots of wind and RAIN when there was a hurricane, or a tropical storm heading up the coast.  But now, I only live about 4 miles to the beach, and it's great to just hop in the car, and in 15 minutes, I'm at the beach!  But, I am a little more concerned about these tropical storms and worry about getting hit directly by a hurricane!  The locals tell us that they just sit on the porch and watch the storms, even if a hurricane is coming through.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, with no issues of suckiness!

Wow a get together sounds good. I am in the middle of nowhere in Georgia, out near Milledgeville and south of Athens.  Planning a visit to Columbus in near future and see docs at MCG Health. I don't know how to contact direct if necessary but would be cool to compare notes and meet up.

My IOS is that I tried a day of relaxing with friends in Augusta and went in the canoe for a couple of hours. OOPS! Forgot the sunscreen and am burned from head to foot. Docs will give me hell on that one.

And OMG on my chemo day my onc says no chemo today your heart scan (MUGA) shows too much damage - you have congestive heart failure. WHAT?!?!?! GRRRRR!!!! Mainly makes me angry because I called weeks ago asking for the results of said scan and got no reply. Now they tell me oh yeah too much fluid buildup around my heart from the Neurontin or damage from the Herceptin. GRRRRRR!!!!

Sick of stupid people and their stupid comments and actions!! GRRRRRR!!

Love the funny posts they made my day!

Hope e1 else's suckinesss gets better!
