dutchgirl6, thank you. My son likes to make faces,he is verry happy child.

LadyinBama, 4 weeks out I was bald, too. There are my pictures here,  look end of October, beginning of Nov. Or just click my name.

joan888, I was born blond and was blond for 41 years. Just a year before being diagnosed I color my hair dark and loved it (not my husband). I do not think I woud go blond, maybe reddish or warm brown tones.

Basia, thank you. When was your last Tx? are you using something?

Maureen813, thank you. When is your son's graduation?

MBJ, I did not know henna would dry out hair. O well. I was ready to go red.

X-Ray - all of my hair has started to regrow including down there!  Too bad, cuz I enjoyed B-Dazzling the vjayjay during chemo!! Surprised  Although I was super thrilled to pull out the tweezers las weeked to get at some unruly brows, I now have to shave my legs for the first time since June.  Oh well, at least I got the summer off!

nikola:  You should still try henna.  I love it but hate the mess.  It's much better for your hair and it does tend to dry it out, yes, but mainly if you use it too often.  Use good conditioners and you'll be fine.  It really thickens up the hair too.  If red is what you want, you'll love it!  Just keep in mind you can't use permanent store dye unless you wait 4-6 weeks because you run the risk of having a green cast to your hair in certain cases.  Henna is one of those things that you can't use anything metallic with because it can give you unwanted results.  And it takes a few hours for the true color to come through after you rinse it out.  Sometimes I get a little green cast but it disappears after a few hours.  I highly recommend henna.  You can mix it with different things too... I mix mix mine with strong coffee which offsets the red color.

cc4npg, thank you. I would try henna. I always wanted but being blond was not able to do it. Not blond anymore.

I dyed my hair last week, at 4 months out.   I am trying to find safe hair dyes.  Hennas come in limited colors; they have not worked for me, but they ARE safe. cc4npg - Where do you get your henna?  We have an organic hair salon - I'm going to see what they use.  I think Light Mountain hair dye is considered safe.  Open to any suggestions.

Maureen - I think you'll b e able to go wigless by June.   Thanks for the pics ladies, My top is slow to grow, too, but everyone looks wonderful!

Maureen, you still have 8 weeks of chemo? That would make middle of March to finish with all TX and 15-16 weeks until graduation after last Tx. I think you should be fine especially hair is growing back during Taxol Tx.

    Good luck.

Love all the latest hair pictures! I so can't wait to get where you are. :) Here's my latest. This was from today and I'm just a day shy of 11 weeks PFC. It's growing in nice and even and it's gray free since I dyed it a couple weeks ago. I finally have full scalp coverage too. I can honestly say I never want to see my scalp again!! LOL!! It's still quite short, not quite an inch, but I'm totally going scarf/hatless (except outside in the cold). Honestly, at this point I think I'm embarrassment proof and I just want to be comfortable.

Here's the link to my other hair photos...

ETA: I forgot to add that I lost all my eyelashes since I posted my last picture. They're coming back in but are about a third the normal length right now. My eyebrows thinned quite a bit but they're coming back in too. I still fill them in a bit with pencil.

KatherineNaomi - you AND your photo are both gorgeous!

No color on my hair, it's about the same color as it was before, and you can't really see the gray from that angle, but there is a little gray mixed in. Nikola, yours looks great and your boy is a cutie-pie! As for eyebrows, wow it took a long time to get those and my eyelashes are still pretty thin. Eyebrows are still thin compared to pre-chemo, but I'm not going to complain! They are a little sparse in spots. I use an eyebrow pencil to fill them in, but in that photo I didn't have any on. I really missed my eyebrows when they were gone. They make a big difference. I had to learn to draw them on, then I felt better.

i keep staring at my head in the mirror. I think i see more hair coming in today than just yesterday. 37 days since final chemo.  My husband confirms it but he could be just trying to make me feel better. Wore my wig today for 12 hours that is the longest i ever did that. I just felt like i needed hair. I am at a car show and we were setting up today and I saw a very thin older woman with large boobs wearing a wig and i just have to wonder if she is going thru the same thing. I also wonder how many people can tell i am wearing a wig. I keep expecting someone to twist there head around and take a double take.

Carol I was in the 10Xs magnifying mirror everyday checking out my hair growth. you will be amazed at how fast it will start pouring in..My onc told me at 3 months it would really begin to grow fast and he was right. I finished in May by September it was getting thicker and now its almost manageable...lot of work getting the curls out but have not worn my wig in a month!! I bet no one knows you are wearing a wig. Once I went to my onc and the NP said I can't believe your hair hasn't fallen out yet. Be thankful you're wearing it now and not in July like I was Tongue out

I think I am going to burn all my wigs and little bra inserts I wore to balance me out. I hope I never need any of that crap again!

LOL Didel:  So glad I didn't break out the magnifying mirror.  I was obsessive enough without having to do that.

msphil:  17 years!!!  Thank you--that is so good to hear!

Katherine:  Another person that looks great without hair!  It also makes you look younger, not that I now how old you are but this picture makes you look 16!

Thanks ladies! :) I think I may enjoy having short hair for a while as long as it doesn't get crazy looking. I've always had curly hair so I'm used  to dealing with curls.

Lol MBJ! I've always been told I look young. I'm 35.

I get my henna at a local health food store.  Many of them carry henna.  Light Mountain makes a product called "Color or Cover the Gray" which is what I use.  It's a two step process.  The first step colors the gray this nice shade of bright orange!  The second step colors it to a deep brown/red.  Extremely messy, but I won't use permanent hair dyes ever again because they are just plain not good for you.

KatherineNaomi:  I would have never guessed 35!  I used to look young but chemo killed that for me.  So glad you were able to keep your youthful beauty through all of this!

The short hair really does make everyone's eyes just pop!  Happy Hair Day Everyone!

katherinenaoimi..35 is YOUNG!! But you do look younger than that for sure! Yes lucky you for completing chemo and maintaining your youthful skin. You look great!

MBJ I used that mirror to check hair EVERYWHERE...I can't imagine the hours I spent in that mirror. HA HA HA My friends are thankful I didn't maintain a hair growth journal for all my body parts. I got excited at seeing my nose hairs return! Tongue out

I was posting on another thread and saw you commented regarding the cost of Acupuncture. Some insurances pay for it..I didn't even bother to check. I am self employed and I am lucky I live in MD or my insurance woulda kicked me to the curb. I didn't want to push it by asking about acupuncture. The inital consultation and treatment was $125 which lasted about 2 hrs. She got my health history and did a treatment. After that it was $80, which I thought was afordable. She also comes to my house which was the best at no additional charge. Check with your cancer center to see if they have an acupuncturist on staff, it may be covered by your insurance. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Oh Boo! It's a shame because physically it will really get you feeling like your old self again. Maybe you can negotiate a fee or payment plan, something to think about.

katherine and nikola - your hair looks so good.  You are only about 5 or so weeks ahead of me.  Right now it seems impossible that I will have that much then.  It is coming in but I can still see a lot of scalp.  I am trying to be patient and tell myself its has only been 3 weeks since the stubble started, but I am anxious to have complete scalp coverage . . . even if it is still very short.

    Photobucket" mce_src="Photobucket" mce_src="

I feel like once it starts coming in, it really starts coming in! I've trimmed around the ears a couple times but I'm going to go to a salon so they can trim it up right so it can grow out nicely. Right now I feel like a parrot. With a mullet.
