    Lauren,

It's not vanity. I don't really want pictures taken of me, either, wig or no wig. I don't want to be looking at them years from now and be reminded of this period.

My daughter had her senior pictures taken at a private studio (in-school photos were awful). They gave us a coupon for a family photo session which is usually good for three months. I told the saleswoman that I wouldn't be using it...that I was under treatment for breast cancer and did not want photos of me taken with my wig or my new hair growth (which was just coming in). She said, "Well, we'll just make this good for a year!" And she changed the expiration date.

BTW everyone, I tried the third color, and it's much better. I feel good about it. I think Natural Instincts Cinnamon Stick may just be my new color Wink. Now I just need it a little longer so I can get a hold of the cowlick and smooth it down.

Dear, I hear you about the cowlick!  Never knew I had one till my hair grew back in. In fact, this is the area it was last to fall out and hurt so much when it did and when it's hurting now, many times, that's the area.  Wonder what that's all about?  Estrogen depot or something! :D

Now we need a pic of your new hair color!  Sounds tempting to color mine....just not sure yet :)

I am currently sitting with dye on my brand new eyebrows........I am blonde and have always dyed them darker........nice to finally have them back..........just hope they are long enough that the dye will look good.......fingers crossed.......I will know in about 15 more minutes.........I am then thinking about dying my new hair purple with one of those dyes that washes out in 8 washes.......gotta try something.......I am getting so tired of wearing the wig......it seems to be getting more and more uncomfortable the longer my own hair gets.......I am thinking that if it is purple.....people may think I'm just a crazy girl with short purple hair........I bought the bow of colour a couple of weeks ago......and keep thinking should I?......shouldn't I?........I have time today to take 8 showers if I don't like it.......but here's my question........does it really wash out?.......anybody?

    Cheers

Oh my! Purple?  You must take pics to share with us, IF you do it!

I know nothing about washing it out, so you'll have to wait on that one from artsee or someone in the know, sorry :(

Can't wait though to see how looks! :D  You could always do Xmas colors instead?  Red or green? :)

Vin - it's great!  You and I have about the same length hair at this point - I may be a tad longer and fuller, but not by much.  I started going commando a few weeks ago - just got tired of the whole head covering thing.

I haven't done anything with mine yet except gel it to make it sort of spiky.  You may inspire me to do something wild with color.

See there!  You are beautiful even with Purple (although my screen is showing red) hair!  I think it looks great!  I'll be people won't even ask if you meant to cut it that way, you know?  Because it looks great!  WTG with the coloring, although I'm not quite ready for that yet!  I'm so certain this stuff will come out again! :D

Vinogal -- I just have to chime in -- you're beautiful -- you can definitely toss the wig!!  The hair color's cool.  Mine went orange (trying to be blonde again) so I went darker and didn't get the maroon.  You look lovely!!

Your eyebrows look lovely!  I about 7 weeks behind you so 4 weeks from today I can only hope that my eyebrows and lashes look as good as yours!

    Vinogal...

You go girl. Get rid of the wig you don't need it anymore. You look amazing. I stopped using my wig 2 months after my last chemo and I didn't have nearly as much hair as you, but my husband took me out to dinner and told me that I didn't need the wig and that I looked beautiful. No one gave me a second look. That was back in June and I haven't looked back.

I came from the Junies thread to see your hair.  It looks great.  You have a lot more hair than me.  I think you should go without the wig.  Way to go.

Nancy....I used my husbands stuff......Alberto Extreme Style REWORK......Fibre Putty.......feels like glue......but really works......it's the only stuff that can get my son's hair to stand up......his is super thick.....they call it rework because the idea is you can rework it.......good after wearing a hat......can stick it back up......stays a bit sticky though......went to daughter's dance without the wig.......but kept my hat on the whole time.....baby steps....

    Cheers

Vinogal.....you look very nice and so do the brows. Boy, you've got a lot of them. I still have to pencil them in. The temporary colors should last 5 to 6 weeks. Of course I don't think that's the length if you wash your hair 8 times a day, LOL! I have found washing hair every other day, I'll last up to 6 weeks. In fact, it never really comes out totally.

I like the color too. I was thinkin lavender purplish.....Undecided Artsee

Vinogal ! That's an amazing head of hair! I finished chemo the end of June, three months ahead of you and just left the wig off last week.  I have a little more than you - can stretch it out to 2 inches in places - but don't have the face for short hair.  You look wonderful.  Glad your daughter approves.

I've been using soy paste. It isn't heavy duty but helps with body and direction.  I'm slightly curly and it wants to go in every direction.  I think I need to get a little trim around the edges.  Beginning to look a little ragged.

One of the girls in our local card shop complimented me on my new haircut today.  The other two sales girls know I had chemo but I'm not sure if this girl did or not.  The store was busy so I just thanked her not knowing what else to say. I hope I smiled when I said it. She's very nice but I was caught off guard.  I'd never cut it this short.

How come somepeople who have been on taxotere get their hair back and others don't?

mumayan, I don't know the answer to your question.

There are lots and lots of women who have been given Taxotere, either in combination with other chemo drugs (I got Taxotere & Cytoxan) or by itself.  Probably millions of women, by now.

How many of them (what percentage) did not get their hair back?

I think if you read the Taxotere & Cytoxan thread on this forum, and browse through the other threads where women have received Taxotere as a follow-up to, or along with, other drugs like AC or Avastin, you'll find that almost all of them got their hair back.  My hair re-growth took awhile to get started, but now it's doing great and is very thick.  That's even though I am on Arimidex, an AI that some people think can cause hair to be thin.

I know there are some women who've posted on the BCO boards about not getting their hair back after chemo.  Why they would have permanent hair loss while most women don't, seems to be a mystery.

Cristl - I hear you.  I also got sick of my wig very quickly.  It was a nice wig and looked great on, but I just got tired of it.  I finally started wearing baseball caps - at first I put a headband on underneath it (wearing it at the hairline like a sweatband) to sort of fill in that area between the hat and the neck.  But after a while I just skipped the headband and just wore baseball hats.  Fortunately my work is very casual, so it was completely appropriate for me to wear that.

By the way, the pooch in your avatar is beautiful.  But I bet you have a lot of fur to clean up when he blows his coat in spring!   I have a chihuahua myself - sort of on the other end of the doggy scale!

I had to get my driver's license renewed today, even with my bristle-brush 1.5 inch long hair.  I swiped the "cancer card" and made MVA promise that I could get a new picture on my license when my hair grew back to normal, as I am NOT living with the crew cut picture for the next 5 years.  Of all times to have to renew my license!  Yell

Oh honey!  I did NOT renew mine till finally about 2 months after my birthday (was 8 weeks after chemo finished) dh took me over there and made me go through it.  Then when we got to the freaking point where I had to remove my scarf, the lady called me over, and I thought, UHOH!  Did I not pay a ticket or something. NOT...she had a button she could use to use the last pic! WHEW! SAved at last!  So I'll be 46 on my license pic till I'm 54~  :)

TICKED me off royally that a cancer pt without hair had to remove their freaking hat b/c of homeland freaking security! GIVE ME A BREAK!
