Yes, and it will be more and more each week! :)  YEAH!!!!!!!!!!  The start of the hair drama! :)  You'll love it no matter how it grows or what color it comes in, believe me!  :)

I travel alot and everytime I go through airport security I am asked to remove my hat or scarf.  I guess they think we might hide something under our caps besides our bald heads.

The worst day was at  a U.S. canadian boarder crossing All my scans at the clinic left me with enough radioactive blood to set off the nuclear alarm.  Our car was searched until they scanned me and realized I set off the alrm. Talk about embarassing.

Oh my!  I didnt' think you'd have enough for that!  Hope you were careful where you peed! :D

Just found out my kitty has a new trick of drinking from the toilet!  UGH!!!!!!!!  Now I know why they say to flush twice after A/C and scans with radioactive stuff! GROSS!

Hey, Mumayan, I live in Windsor ON and cross the border several times a week... When I had my scans, the hospital gave me a letter saying I had had the scans and what kind of radoactive stuff have been used, etc. I guess since we're a border city they're more familiar with the need for that.

Funny thing is, they've never asked me to take off my hat or even looked at me sideways--and I don't look much like my passport photo anymore. In the photo, I have almost shoulder-length hair, glasses, and weigh about 40 pounds more than I do now. No hair, no glasses, thinner--and somehow they can recognise that it's me. lol Now watch, they'll grill me today!

I've only traveled once so far because I lost my hair mid-trip, but they didn't ask me take off my scarf or hat (I don't remember which I was wearing) at airport security. If the concern is having something under a scarf or hat, so could someone wearing a wig and I doubt they would even notice that. And if the concern is identity concealment - again someone could wear a wig. And do they do that with a nun, orthodox Jewish woman or others who cover their heads for religious modesty? I haven't noticed it.

Just when you think you have made the adjustment about the inevitable hair loss, you take a shower 8 days after the first tx and there is no hair loss.....and before you know it, you are thinking maybe, just maybe I will be the exception .....  and I won't lose it.  And then you look into the mirror and say don't go there....you are so NOT going to be the exception. It will be gone and get over it!!  (But on a positive note, there were no tears involved in this private conversation with self)!

Brenny - how long your hair lasts is very indivudual. I heard that hair starts to fall out on day 14. So on day 13, a friend came over & shaved it for me. And it continued to grow and I had to continue to shave it until it started coming out!

Don't know how long your hair is, but one thing that might help is a short cut. I went to my hair stylest just before I started chemo, so that I'd look ok when it all happened. It's a good intermediate step.

Has anyone had any side effects where your arm pits hurt(achy) after chemo? I know its not my lymph nodes as its on the surface where mine ache. I dont know if its because the hair is regenerating or maybe something to do with the sweat glands?

I flew home today from surgery, and I am really bald - 3 weeks post chemo (well there is some peach fuzz) but I wear a wig. I am SO GLAD nobody demanded I pop my Wig off! I would have been MORTIFIED!!!  I am surprised they would make you take off your scarf/hat/cap. Hmmm. All in the name of security I guess. They don't want some bald chemo woman (or any body else) taking the plane down! :O

I remember some news story about a guy who smuggled a small monkey into the U.S. from South America (on a plane) by hiding it under his hat.  Shortly after that story broke, the TSA started asking people to remove their hats when going through security.

That's weird - I flew 4 times wearing a head sock and was never asked to take it off - I guess it's what kind of hat that counts.

guitarGrl, could you have fit a monkey under that head sock?  Maybe that's the criterion that determines whether they make you take it off...

Otter - I agree. Mostly I wore this postmans hat that had lots of sequins - I carried that in my luggage. I think people need to prepare for travel like anything else - don't go out of your way to provoke the TSA guys. They ain't the brightest bunch ...

I just saw a story on CNN where a woman faked a pregnancy to smuggle a sedated monkey under her shirt.  I think she was flying from Thailand.  Think they'll be asking pregnant looking women to undress next?

What they ought to do is really come down on the people that DO smuggle stuff in, like they do when someone smuggles drugs in some of these other countries and maybe this stuff would stop!  But look how often some have caused plains to land b/c of going off their rocker, or causing fear on a flight and they get a slap on the wrist b/c they were drunk or such.  Start really cracking down and deal with the REAL problems, not with CA pts, or people with scarves or head clinging hats and such.

    Hi All,

I'm day 15 Post 1st Chemo and still have my hair BUT I know my days are numbered. Believe it or not I've lost it down south if you know what I mean. I did get a wig yesterday and love it but want to enjoy my hair while I have it.

Glad I'm not traveling this holiday after hearing the stories about security. I would hate to go off on a poor security person if they asked me to take off my wig.

Anyway you ALL you have a Great Evening!!

Well I did it.  I took a friend to lunch today for her birthday and I took my scarf off.....the whole time and then I went to my car bald....and I drove home bald.  It was great.  Why do we feel the need to hide our heads.  Guys go out with naked noggins all the time.  I'm fortunate to live West of the Cascades in Oregon where temps are mild it just rains a lot.  Bald is beautiful.  My hair was long and blond....the perfect Miss America hair (not my face or my body but my hair.)  I can't believe I did it and no one choked on their hamburger and no one fell out of there chair.  An elderly man that saw me come in with my pink scarf only to watch me walk out bald and he winked at me.

    Hair, hairless....scarves!

I have had 2 treatments of Taxotere and Cytoxan. Treatment number three(of four) is next Wednesday.

I am bald or should I say got fuzz on my head.....after shaving I never did go all the way bald. Infact I have hair growing in....it is colorless, but it is hair.

I still don't like to go out topless. At work I wear the formed fitting scarves. I will not wear a full wig as it is too much. I work with children and I do a lot of bending down so the wig thing would not work. I did order a hair halo.

I would like to wear other type of scarves to work, but all I have right now is the long rectangle scarves ( the type more used for fashion in tying around the neck) Does anybody know of how to wear these types of scarves on the head? Or where to get information on how to wear a scarf. I already have the ACS Look Good, Feel Better book. I went to the class, which was a good class, but felt that most of the time was spent on makeup. This was fine as they gave us a kit with "$350.00 worth of makeup in the kit".  I do wish there was more information on scarf tying in class, but I understand as the class was already 2 hours long.

So any advice on wearing scarves on the head I would be happy in hearing.

I found this to be a great site for tying directions.......the crown was a very easy one to tie and would feel secure all day long......this is what I would tie to go to the waterparks with the kids and it made it through that so it should hold up to working with kids........good luck!

My question - I had my last treatment November 17.  I never lost the fuzz that was left after I had my hair buzzed, and now I think it's growing just a little.  However, it is colorless.  Really just clear looking and I can only see anything at all if I'm in the sunshine.  How long before my hair gets some kind of color back??
