Sunshine....try to refresh the page, and they might show. That works sometimes

But it could be that your service provider is censoring them. I know some people who read from work can't see the pix because their office server doesn't allow them through.

Ooops! Forgot about that, NancyD is right, if you are work, that might be the problem
0 -
Hey I bet that's it. I am at work...will have to check it out when I get home.
NancyD I would love to see your hair color...I'm trying to figure out what to do with mine

Our digital camera disappeared a couple of weeks ago. I only have my phone-camera to take pictures, and that's realy, really NOT color accurate. It's lighter than my wig in my avatar, I will say that.

My dh and I went to his (former) departmental Christmas Party today. It's the first really big, really social thing I've done without a headcover. So, I decided I'd take some pics when we got home, and compare them to the pics from 2 months ago.
Here's what things looked like on October 14:
And, here's today:
It's really curly, and it's definitely turning brown. Now, keep in mind that this is 28 weeks (half a year!) since my last chemo, and I haven't trimmed my hair at all. It is just growing very, very slowly. It didn't grow at all for the first 8 weeks after I finished chemo, and then it was just that wispy-fine, colorless stuff. Now, though, it seems to be coming in more quickly.

Oh Otter, I think your hair looks great!! I am still at that wispy-fine colorless stage. I am envious of your dark curly hair. What a difference a couple of months makes.

Are you on AI's? Perhaps that's affecting it. Mine went through a really slow period about 2 months out and maybe a month after I started Arimidex, but then picked up. It's hm...have to measure....3 inches. Last chemo was feb 8th, 10 months ago. I've had 2 minor trims. Very minor and so....I can say it's not growing very fast for 10 months out

Well, crap...OTTER! I meant to say how I like how your's is growing in! Mine had/and still has way more grey and about 3 others colors to it. Looks horrible! Mine does I mean, not yours. I only wish mine looked that good!

Thanks for sharing your pics Otter......I think your hair looks great......can't believe the difference in 2 months.....did you have a good time at the party?
Cheers

Hi All,
I finally Posted an UGLY Photo of myself a day after Chemo. Probably NOT Smart. Maybe I will get the Nerve to show the Baldness!

Otter, my hair looks about like your October pic, last chemo for me was Oct 17. I thought mine was going to be straight, but looking at your latest pic, I guess mine can still curl. I had wavy hair before. It is that ugly colorless gray stuff.
PinkLaddy, you are not UGLY, but I understand what you mean. I just sent my mom a pic of my hair yesterday, and said the same thing. She called me and said that I had hurt her heart and that I was not UGLY, I was very beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes even now. We are all beautiful people regardless of what this damned disease has done to us. (pardon my language) I so want to like my avatar again, but am affraid that will never happen. I am 50 and think I look 20 years older than my avatar.
God Bless Us All

Goldie I feel alot like you do...I look in the mirror and think who the hell is that? I went to say good night to my daughter last night, she was in the bathroom brushing her teeth...I had taken off my head wrap and walk into the bathroom... I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and jumped...I actually for just a second thought there was a man in her bathroom but it was just me...

Okay Ladies, I have been scrolling through all of your postings trying to get a grasp of what's to come for me. I'm just getting ready to jump onto the "chemo ride" Dec. 30 and am trying to figure out what I need in the way of enhancers for my new bald look. I am retired, have little vanity, but like to be out and about socially. I am 5'10" and have visions of looking like a pinhead when all hair goes. I have already bought a lovely pricey wig and may add another one from "tlc". For scarves and/or turbans, what accessories from tlc would you suggest buying to add fullness or add comfort to my head---padded cap liner and/or padded scarf liner or wig hugger? Headcovers.com shows some bangs--- has anyone had any luck with those? I am going to try scarves and hat (wider brim). Anyway, if anyone has the time, what would be your "must have" starter list for a newbie. As soon as the hair starts falling, I plan to have it buzzed. Would you agree that it's best to leave 1 inch all over (less itching?) or go for the total shave?? I know in the general scheme of things my questions are not very important but it's all a little overwhelming. By the way, all of you women who are posting your pictures of your new locks look beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Babyc, I cut mine off BEFORE I started chemo (buzz-cut then shave). I already had a wig and knitted myself a beanie as a prototype, which became the only one I owned. I (like you) thought I needed heaps of alternatives, but once I got into the whole thing I didn't want to spend the money on cancer stuff. Experienced friends told me it would be over before I knew it and they were right I am a teacher and the kids loved my wig, or raved about my beanie and some thought I'd just straightened my hair, or didn't know I had chemo. (My obsession was not not THEIR obsession!). The itching/pain is so short-lived..hang in there..soon you'll be like me: ten weeks out and going 'topless'! XXX0

Just another perspective --wish I were more like kerrylamb -- I think it's what you are going to be comfortable with...I intend for no one (zip) to see me bald or near-bald. For those times when my wig is not presentable, I did buy the bangs from headcovers to wear with a cap/turban and I also bought a halo from chemosavvy for under hats. Part of it is vanity (because my round fat face is not going to look good bald) and part of it is that I just cannot deal with strangers (and even friends) pitying me. I don't want to look like I have breast cancer. I plan to get a lot of wear out of everything I buy because from what I read, it's going to be not just the 3 months of tx, but another 4 or 5 months after that before I will look as good as Otter! Maybe everyone starts out feeling like this and then gradually develops courage, but I am not sure I will ever be one of them!
This is day 19 after my first TC tx and the hair is falling out faster than a dead Christmas tree -- just strands are everywhere. Thankfully I did get a new shorter cut a month ago, so there is less to fall. I have not had it buzzed yet -- I am out of town and am trying to wait until I get back to OH and have it done Wednesday. My hairdresser suggested not shaving it but buzzing instead. Just hope I can get throught just a couple more days --luckily my hair is (was) very thick, so I may get a couple days that others do not.
May be coincidence, but I have also notices my nails seem to be chipping easily (again I was blessed with really hard nails) and just got through cutting/treating them this am. Broke one and even glued it (something I never generally due) - I am guessing they aren't going to grow back any time soon either.
Even tho you are in the Jan group, keep up with the Dec chemo posts as well for more info! The boards are all a great help.

Well I did it yesterday...buzzed it!!! Was tired of the shedding. It was probably easier for me, as my 18 year old daughter is bald due to alopecia. Yesterday I went shopping all day...just wore one of her hats! She has always told me how cold it is....now I know! It is true that we lose most of our heat through our head!
My nails are also chipping Bren!

babyc, one thought I had was you might want to get a sleep cap. They are light weight and not bulky for sleeping in. Anything NOT light weight and you'll suffer from the hot flashes, or perhaps since you are older and I assume are post-meno you'll not have those as bad? Not sure on that one, but I know the chemopause gave me a great body warmer all last winter. So the hat came on and off all night
Familyroks and otter, great pics! I still can't get a good pic by myself of my current hair, but it's certainly curlier and wavier than the straight as a board I had last year this time.
It must be the T's that are causing the nail problems. I only A/C and I have to say, my nails grew so fast and hard, I had to cut them weekly almost. Still are, so not sure what's up with that, unless it's the lack of estrogen for some reason?
Good Luck Ladies, I'm sure each one of you will just absolutely fine with your baldness. Remember though, that if YOU feel beautiful, your show that with your smile and no one will even notice your bald! Well, okay, they'll notice, but they too will think you look great!
{{hugs}} to each of you starting through this part of the journey

babyc,
I had my hair cut into a short cut (not buzzed) about two weeks after my first treatment. For the first time, my boyfriend (who I have known for over 15 years) saw me with short hair and loved it. When it started to go, I avoided "disturbing" it until I was ready to get in the shower and deal with what might come. That's what worked for me. Everyone is different.
As far as headcovers, I wear a wig when I'm out of the house except for the times I wear a winter hat now that the snow has hit in upstate New York. The hats I bought are just regular winter hats. My wig is from TLC. I like it very much and found that I have gotten used to wearing it. For me, it really isn't uncomfortable. The scarf/turban route is not me, so I didn't buy any. I do have a sleep cap that I sometimes wear for a little warmth around the house.
You will find what is comfortable for you. Good luck...and this too shall pass. I finished chemo on 12/4 and already have some stubble.

I had a party when I clipped mine!
I had thought it would be a way to let friends support me--be there, have some fun instead of, "Oh, poor Martha" all the time, Instead it ended up being support for me! We had wine and cheese, my stylist friend clipped my hair into several different styles so I could see what I might like when it grew (and I loved that he put it that way), and then we had some fun--he shaved my initial on the back of my hair, he gave me a mohawk...
I know that wouldn't work for everyone, but it gave me a way to deal with it positively. Also, so much was falling out by then that it was just disgusting...on my keyboard, on my pillow, in my sink drain and even my food! Ick! I was ready for a clip. We ended up shaving it because it was so patchy I looked like I had mange!
I do hats...mostly just plain winter ones, althogh a friend crocheted me one. I find the wigs uncomfortable, and I'm not a scarf/turban person, either. I probably have more than I need, as people keep giving them to me--about 12 or so. It does give me a wardrobe, but there are about 3 or 4 that I wear most of the time.
I wasn't going to let anyone see me bald, either, but last night I was just too warm, and asked my partner if she would be OK with it if I took my hat off. She said (brilliant answer), "You do what you need to be comfortable, that's more important than anything else." And she thought I was cute!
As others have said, you'll find what works for you!

Brenny, what you say is right: we do develop more courage as we go along. I was freaked out about losing the eyelashes and brows...don't go much on the David Bowie c1984 look! But I was so sick of it all that I just stopped trying to find eyelashes to put mascara on. Before I knew it, they were back (enough to put mascara on, at least). One hint I read which was just great was to buy one of those sticky pet-hair removing brushes to run over your head whenever you need to. That saved the little hairs from turning up all over the place!

I think as your hair grows the pigment will return. Mine is getting darker and darker!

My nails went schizoid from my chemo (TAC). I never lost any, but I did develop horizontal dark and light pink stripes. As they grew out, my nails either were strong and great, or brittle and chippy, depending on which stripe was at the tip.
